With an average of about 30% of the workforce in different digital media fields being made up of women, it can be tough for us to WANT to support each other. There's a huge feeling of scarcity and having to "claw your way to the top" that honestly is often perpetuated by working in male-dominated arenas.
Girl In Media believes that the more we share opportunities and seek to create opportunities, the more available they'll become. Of course, in some spaces there will always be a finite amount of resources. But if we continue to communicate, support, and promote each other, the only side effect will be greater awareness of incredible work done by women in digital media. It is our hope that even through this podcast we can help make a dent in that space. No one loses when we support each other, bottom line.
