Every Saturday afternoon on ABC Local Radio Debbie Spillane is cracking the codes, we bring you the latest from the four "footy" codes NRL, AFL, Rugby and Soccer
Debbie Spillane talks NRL with Mat Head, talks to Western Sydney Wanderers captain Michael Beauchamp about what's been happening in the A-League, checks in on the Sheffield Shield final at Manuka Oval and hears from one of the Essendon star David Zaharakis about his side's win against North Melbourne. She also heard from Waratahs coach Michael Cheika about his team's win over Melbourne Rebels.
Debbie Spillane is joined to preview the NRL grand final by ABC League Coach Mat Head. They also look ahead to the Gold Coast Sevens and the Wallabies Rugby Championship game in Argentina with sevens international Con Foley. With the A-League just around the corner SBS TV presenter Lucy Zelic comes on for a chat and News Limited AFL journo Neil Cordy talks about the Big Buddy brouhaha.
Debbie Spillane and Quentin Hull review the codes with Mat Head looking at Manly’s win over the Sharks, Clint Wheeldon looking ahead to the Fremantle v Sydney Preliminary Final and David Davutovic talking about the 2 Australians who were in Champions League Action this week.
On Cracking the Codes, Debbie Spillane is joined by Mat Head to talk about the Rabbitohs' finals win over the Storm. She speaks to Craig Bolton to preview the Sydney v Carlton semi-final at the Olympic Stadium. She is joined by John Wellbourne to talk about the Rugby Championship match between Australia and Argentina in Perth, and lastly she has a chat with Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond about the Jets' match with Sydney FC.
Debbie Spillane tackles all four football codes with the help of Mat Head who looks at the Roosters taking out the minor Premiership and how the rest of the eight will shape up over the weekend. Former Wallaby John Roe assesses Australia’s chances against South Africa in the Rugby Championship match in Brisbane, Kelli Underwood checks in from the boundary at Kardinia Park ahead of the AFL qualifying final between Geelong and Fremantle and Andy Harper looks ahead to the Socceroos international against Brazil.
Debbie is joined by Warren Boland to look back at the Friday night NRL games and how the rest of the weekend will pan out. Quentin Hull joins us from Kardinia Park ahead of Geelong’s game with Brisbane to see who will snatch the last finals spot freed up by the removal of Essendon, Greg Growden talks Rugby Union and Central Coast Mariners Coach Graham Arnold talks about extending his contract with the club.
