This is part two of my series on fear and overcoming.
Have you ever been too afraid to try something new? Felt like you aren't good enough or afraid you will fail? You're not alone, we all feel that way.  Some more than others, but we have all been afraid or unwilling to take a risk at some point in our lives.
In this the  second of a two part series, I will continue to unpack the journey I have been on and how living a life of adventure and challenge has given me the experience to be able to share and teach these valuable skills in this chaotic mixed up world we find ourselves in.  So join me on this journey through fear and overcoming on, The Hero's Path.

I woke up one day in late 2016 and thought, I don't know where to go, I don't fit anymore, I feel like I'm at odds with contemporary society. At first I thought it was because I had just retired from my first career and was feeling cast adrift, but I soon realized that it wasn't just me who felt that way, and it wasn't retiring and moving on to a new life that was causing these feelings.
What I have been experiencing for the last five years is what many people tell me they feel too, a disconnectedness from society and culture. Not feeling like they fit or belong. Like all of the values we grew up with were being cast aside or devalued or worse, systematically taken apart and destroyed by an emerging cultural revolution.
That cultural shift has been coming from all sides with many titles and faces, Critical Theory, BLM, Critical Race Theory, Progressiveness, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and more, but they all fall under the growing umbrella of "Woke" ideology.
So what is Woke ideology? It encompasses all of the titles listed above and more. It is a kind of catch all and is still morphing to include all people who believe they are victims, marginalized, or oppressed to include BLM and the LGBTQ communities etc.
And it is not just feeling like you don't fit, now we are being told we "don't fit." We are told that our ideas are hate, poison, bigoted and worse. We're being "cancelled", fired or forced to resign over words, tweets, Op-ed columns etc. It has gotten dangerous to be on the "outside" of the Woke mobs angst.
Right now 62% of all Americans are afraid to voice their true feelings or opinions out loud!
I used to think this could only happen under Stalin or Mao in a communist or Marxist country, but it's happening everyday right here in America.
In this episode I am going to begin to unpack the fundamentals of this woke ideology and briefly cover its origins and then explore some of the ways it is negatively impacting our nation, democracy and way of life.
Then in future episodes we will take a deeper dive into several of the ideas I cover here and more. Things like how Woke culture has taken over and completely undermined our universities and Academia, the unholy marriage of the Woke and big tech/big business and corporate America and how woke culture has appropriated and is colluding with the media to systematically change our national narrative. Join with me as I travel down this dangerous road on, The Hero's Path.

Since this is your introduction to The Hero's Path Podcast, I start by outlining what my vision for the podcast is in general and what I plan to talk about in future episodes.  In the future I will do a combination of video and audio podcasts, which will include interviews, audio commentary, and vlog style adventure video's exploring that episodes topic in the real world.
This episode is audio only.
In this the first episode I share my feelings on our freedom which were inspired by a quote from Thomas Jefferson.  Jefferson was not only brilliant and insightful, he was gifted with the ability to articulate the vision for a genius, never tried before form of democratic government.  A democracy which until very recently has stood the test of time. In a time of global crisis and uncertainty our democracy is being challenged as broken.  My question and what I will explore here is this: Is our democratic system of government and its constitution actually failing us, or are we failing it and each other?  Furthermore, are  we as a nation heroic enough to start making needed changes?
