Earlier this year Suzanne travelled to Ethiopia, where she visited the Association for Women’s Sanctuary and Development: a safe house, a place providing shelter and support. On Sunday 28th June an estimated 3,000 people attended the funeral of Japan’s most famous cat, Tama, in Japan after the 16 year old cat died of heart failure. In 2007 Tama was appointed stationmaster of a failing, rural train station, Kishi, in Wakayama Province after the human station master left the position. She was credited for raising the passenger numbers on the line by 10%, and bringing in an estimated $8.9m to the region. Happily the station has chosen an apprentice of the same breed to try and replace her.
