Back in December the legendary Sugar Shack in the Black Hills of SD burnt down. For Trever and his wife that wasn't all the only thing had going on. In January they gave birth to a healthy baby girl too. Trever Kautzman stopped by the Homeslice Studious to talk about what a wild December and January he had and how it has been a struggle. Waiting on the investigation to find if they are able to rebuild or possible not is huge for them more then for us as fans of the amazing food and atmosphere that the place delivers. Recently we talked with Lila Crosswhite about the lunch debt in Rapid City that led me to going to the Teen Art auction. There I met Krista who is the Student Nutrition Manager for Rapid City Schools. as lucky enough to have her come in and chat with me about the Rapid City Schools food program. I had some questions, and I knew she had the answers.
I think before my conversation I already felt Krista was an amazing person, she caries that kind of a aura with her, and you can hear her passion for the children in our community and for her team when she talks about them.

Today I had the honor to be joined by some FFA kids of South Dakota Daphne, Alexa and Ethan to talk about FFA week and what all it has to offer for them and for other kids in the area!!
I learned it's not just for farm kids, ranchers but for kids who are interested in any side of agriculture from working with he animals to just working wit your hands in the garden or better understanding the beautiful Black Hills we live in. Also helping in furthering your education with great hands on learning
PS - This was taped on Valentines day and I was dressed as Cupid earlier in the day so that's why I had pink shorts on! If I would have remebered to pack jeans maybe I would have looked a little cooler!

The Sugar Shack is and was a staple in the Black Hills of South Dakota but it burnt down on December 14th 2023. We all are hoping the new owners are able to rebuild, maybe bigger and better or even maybe the same. My wife and I are really good friend with the previous owners and I got a chance to chat with Bubba about the Sugar Shack and some of the things he knows!! I think we will have to have him and his wife in the studious to talk about there memories and long history with the legendary burger joint!

I have always struggled with talking about mental health, Suicide and with survivors of it. I talk with Summer Dey who is a survivor and has dealt with it from the passing of her son. I talk with her about how deal, heal, talk and get help if you need it. This episode will help you if you never struggle or always struggle with mental health.
