A podcast dedicated to conversations with artists and creative professionals focusing on the topic of work, life and creative balance. Each episode is structured around my personal experience and opinion that there are 5 “circles of relationships” that exist in a creative or artistic life. How do each of them impact an artist’s daily life and career?
[If you’re an artist and you’d like to be a guest on Circle 5, please mail me - Mallury Patrick Pollard - mallury@circle5podcast.com. I’d love to have you on to share your story, thoughts and experiences.]
Two for one!
Fun time doing something new for the podcast: hosting two guests at once. I really enjoyed my conversation with writers Terena Elizabeth Bell and David Scott Hay, learning about their individual experiences as well as their shared connection with the Brooklyn based publisher, Whiskey Tit.
Want to stay up on their work?

Sometimes you have to wonder...and then admit...there's something bigger than us at work out there.
In this first of a three part Circle 6 segment, I share a fun moment from my travels before Covid. I hope you enjoy!

Always great to spend time and chat with my long time friend, Teddy Yudain - Actor, Puppeteer from New York, NY. While he’s living his dream, being a part of an Off-Broadway production, he’s learned to make time for better self care and balance. I hope you enjoy his great insights and honesty in this short form episode.

Thanks for listening!
Welcome to something new for The Circle 5 Podcast: a “short form” episode! Only 37 minutes, but still full of good stuff (I think ). I hope you enjoy!
Great to catch up and record with my friend, Kristin Johansen - Actor, Voice Actor from LA. We had a fun time recording live in close quarters 😅. It was great to hear about her present work and also share some heartfelt insights about a life experience we have in common…
Kristen can be found online at kristinjohansen.net - on Instagram @_kristinjohansen - and on TikTok @realfinehun.
It’s been a long time coming…
My 2022 episodes are all finally published (oh my), but it was well worth the wait to share my conversation with Caitlin Kelly: my first guest that was an acquaintance that agreed to be on the ‘cast! I hope she’s now a friend for years to come. It was quite a treat and blessing to chat with her because she is a very accomplished professional/journalist/writer/writing coach/author… Just have a listen to hear all the great accolades she’s amassed, as well as her great insights about relationships as she shares stories both past and (relatively) present. They were present when we recorded of course :)
Caitlin uses adult words in this convo. Just giving you a heads up if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing. But enjoy each and every “@#$!” because she was 100% herself, and it made the stories entertaining and impactful.
If you’d like to keep up with Caitlin and her work she’s on the web: and on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CaitlinKellyNYC.
Her Wordpress blog, Broadside can be found here: https://broadsideblog.wordpress.com/
And check out her published Non-Fiction Books “Malled: My Unintentional Career in Retail” and “Blown Away: American Women and Guns” here: https://www.thriftbooks.com/browse/?b.search=Caitlin%20Kelly#b.s=mostPopular-desc&b.p=1&b.pp=30&b.oos&b.tile
Caitlin's cause of mention was simply abortion rights, and overall women's rights. Stay informed and speak to women you know about what’s affecting them right now!
It was a very long journey to publishing this one, but it was worth the wait. Great chat with Jenna Henderson of Bell Buckle, TN. She's a wife, mom, passionate, outspoke advocate for women and she completely blew up the concept of the 5 Circles of Relationships in the best way.
Jenna's work as a photographer can be found at https://www.jennahenderson.com/ and https://www.jennahendersonportraits.com/. Her work as a Balance Coach for Photographers is at home on the web at https://www.jennaclicks.com/.
Jenna's cause and charity of mention: The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort - an organization that provides supplies and clothing in times of need after natural disasters. Learn more and donate at https://www.disasterreliefeffort.org/
To break my content publishing drought, I decided to share my uninvited thoughts on the infamous Kanye West, based on my (few) commonalities with the mega personality.Time is flying and my mind has been so fogged - I misquote the date of my own content! My IG rant was in December 2022, not January 2023. Also, I reference a YouTube video that was sent to where Kanye comments on his own behavior. That video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikxUkVqWc1o
[Disclaimer: episode contains adult language *gasp]
Great chat with my longtime friend, Jonathon Russell, owner of JBRLIFE Media: a full service photography and film venture on Maui, HI. His work can be found on the web at www.jbrlifemedia.com and on Instagram: @jbrlifemedia. Jon's cause of choice or mention is more of a call to listeners than a shout out to a charity or movement. He asks nothing more than for you to do something that benefits your hometown and community. Pitch in and make a difference locally either financially, or by rolling up your sleeves in service.
Welcome to a new episode type for the podcast: a “Circle 6” segment. These episodes will be a chance for me to tell some personal stories and share some thoughts on the world overall. I know, just what everyone needs, another person's opinion. I hope you'll still give it a listen :)
Since the podcast is called Circle 5, a Circle 6 segment is based on the idea that I have a 6th circle of relationships as an artist and human being; my relationship with strangers, humanity and the world at large. This first Circle 6 segment is a story about my positive experiences of meeting people through Facebook and Instagram. [And for anyone sharply listening, I forgot to add that Circle 3 of relationships includes people from social groups in the world, like yoga classes or church.] Hope you enjoy!
Always grateful to talk with my friend, Karla Avila. Be sure to follow her on Instagram - @karlagrooves. A great conversation with John Handem Piette of Brooklyn, NY. You can find his work on the web at https://www.jhp-film.com/. Follow him on social media: Twitter - @JohnHPiette, andInstagram - @jhandem. Be sure to check out his Youtube channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/c/JohnHandemPiette/featured. A story about “strength,” a song, and missing my mom. The first of a few personal stories I’d like to share on the Circle 5 Podcast. *Be sure to stay ‘til the end for an amendment and apology to the content :) Also, a shoutout to some great grief podcasts - Dealing with my Grief by Darwyn Dave - Grief Out Loud by The Dougy Center - Coming Back with Shelby Forsythia. [The soundtrack for this episode is “Serenity Prayer” by Brock Hewitt and can be found on and was downloaded from uppbeat.io]
The debut episode of The Circle 5 Podcast: a great chat with Melisa Breiner-Sanders of Queens, NY. She can be found and followed on Instagram + Tik-Tok as @MelisaBS. Find her on the web: www.MelisaBS.com. Melisa’s charity of choice: The National Network of Abortion Funds - https://abortionfunds.org. I've wanted to say these words for a long time; for about three years in fact. A public thank you to some great women, great friends, that offered help advice or encouragement before I began and published The Circle 5 Podcast.
Hi, I’m Mallury, and in 3 minutes I’ll tell you all about The Circle 5 Podcast. Thanks for listening! [Soundtrack: “Shimmer” by Capturez from uppbeat.io]
