International students play a vital role in global education, boosting economies and enriching cultures. However, recent policy changes in key destinations like the UK, Canada, and Australia are challenging international student recruitment due to economic pressures and shifting sentiments. These changes may reshape international education in 2024 and 2025. For instance, Australia's economy heavily relies on international students, raising concerns about potential negative impacts if student numbers are limited. International students not only contribute economically but also enhance social and cultural diversity, fostering innovation and competitiveness.
Policy changes, such as stricter immigration rules, are driven by various factors like rising costs and declining public support for immigration. This has led to a decline in student interest in these countries, pushing students towards more welcoming destinations like the US, Germany, Italy, and Austria. The impact of political changes, like the election of a new government, can influence student mobility patterns. The decline in international student numbers is affecting not only education but also industries like tourism and hospitality that benefit from student spending.
To address these challenges, education providers and governments need to enhance the student experience, improve services, and balance immigration policies to consider both economic benefits and public concerns. Despite the obstacles, stakeholders can work together to attract and support international students effectively. The future of international education relies on collaborative efforts to create a welcoming environment for students worldwide.
Anticipated improvements in the geopolitical landscape following major national elections could lead to positive changes in global recruitment patterns by 2026. However, advancements in AI and automation may impact future immigration policies. Therefore, students planning for higher education should prepare in advance to navigate potential changes effectively.

The concept of "AI Atlantis" envisions a future where a vast digital realm is inhabited by a multitude of AI agents and robots, fundamentally reshaping economic and social structures. With 100 billion AI agents and 1 billion robots, this scenario suggests a shift towards a reality where intelligent systems play a crucial role in various tasks, potentially disrupting traditional economic models. The need for society to address the ethical, regulatory, and social challenges of integrating AI into everyday life is emphasized, urging individuals, organizations, and governments to engage with the opportunities and challenges presented by advancing AI technologies.
Implications include the ubiquity of AI in daily activities, the impact of a robotic workforce on the labor market, potential economic disruptions, enhanced productivity through AI adoption, ethical and regulatory considerations, changes in social dynamics, environmental concerns, and the necessity for global cooperation. The macroeconomic effects of generative AI on labor productivity are significant, with estimates suggesting a substantial boost in global productivity and economic growth. While generative AI offers opportunities for advancement, concerns such as job displacement and workforce adjustments must be addressed to ensure equitable distribution of AI benefits.
Around 200 years ago, Western colonies dominated much of the world, but post-World War II saw many colonies gaining independence, leading to the emergence of modern democracies and nations. While some countries embraced social democracy, others leaned towards communism. In the 1980s, leaders like Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher championed capitalism, resulting in significant inequalities today. The 2022 World Inequality Report highlights global income and wealth disparities, with the wealthiest 10% controlling a majority of resources. Inequality, the report argues, stems from political decisions and policies, emphasizing the need for intentional policy choices to address it. The report suggests redistributive measures, such as a wealth tax, to fund essential sectors like education and healthcare.Large corporations exert substantial influence globally through economic, cultural, political, technological, and environmental means. They shape market trends, cultural standards, political decisions, information flow, and environmental outcomes. The historical context of corporate influence, from the British East India Company to modern tech giants, illustrates how corporations have historically impacted societies across various domains.Authors like Grace Blakeley and Joseph E. Stiglitz delve into how corporations exploit economic power to drive inequality and influence cultural and technological landscapes. Ruchir Sharma warns of government interventions fueling monopolies and billionaires, consolidating political power in the hands of a select few corporations. The text underscores the imperative of informed policymaking to tackle the challenges posed by corporate influence and inequality in the contemporary world.

The Cold War emerged from ideological clashes and geopolitical maneuvers following World War II, notably highlighted by the Yalta Conference in 1945. Divergent visions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union led to the establishment of pro-Soviet governments in Eastern Europe, fueling mistrust and setting the stage for a prolonged rivalry. Stalin's expansionist policies, met with Truman's doctrine of containment and the Marshall Plan, deepened the divide. Key events such as the Berlin Blockade and the arms race solidified tensions, shaping global relations for decades. The current conflict in Ukraine reflects the enduring legacy of the Cold War, underscoring the lasting impact of historical tensions on present-day geopolitics.

In the evolving landscape of electric vehicles (EVs), challenges like transitioning from early adopters to a broader consumer base and meeting varying consumer preferences are prominent. Factors such as market saturation, consumer scepticism, and competition contribute to the complexities faced by automakers. The Technology Adoption Lifecycle model sheds light on the different consumer segments and their adoption patterns. The "chasm" between early adopters and the early majority poses a significant hurdle for EV adoption. Perils of Indirect Communication
Human communication has evolved significantly over millions of years, starting with nonverbal signals and eventually developing into complex verbal languagesNonverbal communication was crucial for early humans, relying on facial expressions, body language, and gestures to convey emotions and intentions1. The advent of verbal communication around 200,000 to 400,000 years ago allowed for the exchange of more complex ideas, enhancing collaboration and social bonds2.
The development of communication had a profound impact on human evolution3. It facilitated cognitive development by enabling the exchange of knowledge and cultural practices4. Improved communication also led to the formation of larger and more complex social structures, aiding in advancements in hunting, agriculture, and the rise of civilizations5.
Despite the progress in communication, people often resort to indirect communication for various reasons. Cultural norms, fear of conflict, lack of confidence, power dynamics, emotional protection, and the desire for ambiguity can all lead individuals to communicate indirectly. However, indirect communication carries the risk of misunderstandings and misinterpretations, as it relies heavily on context and nonverbal cues.
To improve direct communication, active listening is essential. This involves giving full attention to the speaker, eliminating distractions, and showing engagement through nonverbal signals. Summarizing or paraphrasing the speaker’s words ensures accurate comprehension, while refraining from judgment fosters respectful dialogue. Thoughtful responses demonstrate careful consideration of the speaker’s message, strengthening trust and understanding.
In conclusion, while indirect communication can be challenging and prone to miscommunication, understanding its underlying causes and practising active listening can promote more direct and effective interactions. This clarity is crucial for avoiding the pitfalls of indirect communication and enhancing the overall quality of human connections.

What do you perceive as your greatest professional asset?– I have had the opportunity to travel across the length and breadth of India.I have travelled extensively to over 100+ town and cities within India and toover 25 cities in abroad. When you travel extensively, you expand the horizonand world view. Amongst all other things, I value this aspect of myprofessional career as the greatest asset.
Could you provide a concise overview of your professionalhistory? – Yes, certainly. My entire professional career was in the field ofConstruction Equipment Sector, spanning over 22.5 years. I started my careerwith a German Multi National, as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1997. Workedwith the organization in two stints for about 6 years (in between these twostints I did my MBA from Pondicherry, Central University). My second companywas a British MNC, with which I was associated for over 16.5 years. I joinedthem as an Area Manager and my last position held was, National Sales Head fora Product line.
What strategies do you recommend for parents to ensuretheir children's responsible use of social media? – Social media have becomeessential part of our lives. In fact, the Gen Z and Gen Alpha are also calledthe digital natives. However, if we don’t control the usage social media fromthe beginning, it can have a very harmful effect on our younger generations.Young Children at home replicate what they see at home, essentially, they modelthe behaviour of their own parents, elders at home. So, the most importantstrategy would be to model as good and responsible parents and elders at homewith respect to use of social media. Some of the simple techniques I follow asa parent, are; Phone always in zero notification mode, No personal Facebook orInstagram Accounts, No mobile hours (between 9 pm to 9 am) etc. If the parentscan follow these, I am sure the children also will adopt them eventually.
In what ways does parenting differ when raising multiplechildren, and are there strategies to navigate these challenges? – Today, Indiaaverage reproduction rate is about 2.14 in 2023, which means on an average mostof the young Indian couples have either 1/2/3 child. As a parent myself, I feeltwo children is ideal for the family and also for the children’s cognitivedevelopment. While raising a single child is less expensive, the social skillsof a single child may take more time to develop as he/she may not anothersibling at home to interact with. In today’s time, more than two children is aluxury keeping in mind the cost of everything required to raise a child. Thisis my personal opinion, but it all depends on the individuals’ own choices andwe should leave it at that.
What advice do you have for newlywed couples orfirst-time parents? - Whatever goodvalues you want in your child/children start behaving or modelling them athome. Because the young children at home are constantly learning from what theysee around themselves and especially at their parents/elders.
How do you view the growing generation gap betweenparents and children? – The concept of generation gap has happened in the pastand will continue to happen in the future as well. The reason being everygeneration experiences the world in a different way in their childhood. Broadlypost the world war, the generations from different eras are termed as
The silent generation (born before 1945), Baby Boomers(born between 1946 to 1964), Gen X (1965 to 1976), Gen Y (1977 to 1995), Gen Z(1996 to 2011) & Gen Alpha (2012 till present)
In every era the world was a different place in everyaspect. Hence the gap between the generations. This is very normal, and we haveparents, teachers, mentors have to learn and adapt with the new generationkids.

Think and Grow Rich is a book written by Napoleon Hill and Rosa Lee Beeland released in 1937 and promoted as a personal development and self-improvement book. He claimed to be inspired by a suggestion from business magnate and later-philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. However, there is no evidence that the two ever met.The book is considered a classic in the personal development genre and has been widely influential in shaping the way people think about success and wealth. The main theme of the book is that anyone can achieve success and wealth by following a certain set of principles. Hill identifies these principles as the "13 Steps to Riches," which include developing a positive mental attitude, setting clear and specific goals, developing a plan to achieve those goals, taking action, and maintaining a strong belief in oneself and one's capabilities. The 13 steps to riches, as outlined in "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, are:1. Desire: Start with a strong desire or burning ambition to achieve a specific goal or outcome.2. Faith: Have unwavering faith in yourself and your ability to achieve your goal.3. Autosuggestion: Use positive self-talk and affirmations to reinforce your beliefs and goals.4. Specialized knowledge: Acquire the knowledge and skills needed to achieve your goal.5. Imagination: Use your imagination to visualize your goal and see yourself achieving it.6. Organized planning: Develop a detailed plan of action to achieve your goal.7. Decision: Make a firm decision to follow through on your plan and never give up.8. Persistence: Keep working towards your goal, even when faced with obstacles or setbacks.9. Power of the Master Mind: Surround yourself with like-minded people who support and encourage you.10. The Power of Enthusiasm: Use the power of your enthusiasm energy to fuel your desire and drive.11. The Subconscious Mind: Tap into the power of your subconscious mind to help you achieve your goals.12. The Brain: Use your brain to analyze and plan, and to make decisions and take action.13. The Sixth Sense: Trust your intuition and inner guidance to help you make the right decisions and achieve your goals.Explore the past Podcast episodes here. This was a post on my LinkedIn profile a few days back in Sep 2023: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/drspmi...THE PERFECT STRANGERHave you realized in our lives we succeed in many things because of the perfect strangers we meet, who positively impact our lives? As per different dictionaries, the definitions of the word stranger are as under;• a person with whom one has had no personal acquaintance• is someone who has never been there before• a person that you do not know; a person not known or familiar with one • a person who is in a place that he/she does not know• one in the house of another as a guest, visitor, or intruder• an outsider, newcomer, or foreigner or a guest or visitor The moment we are born, we are surrounded by our parents and closest family members who become part of our early childhood life, until we step into the outside world such as the play school/school and so on. As humans, we meet strangers all the time, who become our friends, neighbors, colleagues, associates, partners, spouses, and extended family members/relatives through marriage, the marriage of children, and so on. Not all strangers you meet fairly deal with you. Many come and go out of our lives quickly. Some behave meanly. But the perfect strangers are those, who despite not knowing you before, treat you well, support you, guide you, love you, respect you, and so on. These perfect strangers are the positive catalysts in life, who make big or incremental positive changes in your lives. The other extreme side of the spectrum is those strangers, who behave or deal with you in a mean manner from day one, and they also have a great role in shaping you as a person. Through these mean strangers, we learn the lessons of our lives and guard ourselves from any such future challenges. So, all kinds of strangers in our lives are important, but the perfect strangers provide 10X to 100X more benefits than the mean ones. I wish every day, we could meet with at least one perfect stranger, who can bring a lot of new ideas, thoughts, and benefits into our lives and help us grow substantially or incrementally in our lives into a better version of ourselves. Now that you have understood the importance of meeting a perfect stranger every day, at least make it a point to be a perfect stranger to others, when you meet them. Because if you are good to someone, in return someone else will be good to you in the future. This is a cycle of Karma, what goes out also comes back in. I wish you met a perfect stranger today. And be a good stranger yourself to others. India Career Centre

95% of time, our subconscious mind is driving us, and conscious mind is active for only 5% of the time. The subconscious mind is like a hard drive in a computer, where all the data and programs are stored and whenever we need something it provides that data or program.
The programs and data on the subconscious mind are stored through our learned experiences from the childhood, both good and bad. It simply stores data/information/program can not differentiate between good and bad.
From the early childhood, we are conditioned to follow rules, conditions, confirmations to live in a society and that could be in most of times the most self-limiting programs which limits the potential growth in an individual fully. These self-limiting beliefs can be eradicated at a later date in life, but with a lot of conscious efforts and habit building. Any activity, which is repeated a number of times becomes the new program and the subconscious mind stores it for further use hence forward.

In India as per a study, the average data consumption per user per month across 3G and 4G networks in India was at 17 gigabytes. 4G data traffic contributes to 99 percent of the overall data traffic. The compound annual growth rate of data consumption was 31 percent over the five years. Increased online education, remote working for professionals and higher OTT viewership contributed to the data traffic growth.

Futurist Gerd Leonhard is an optimist and says, “The future is good”. We just have to spend enough time every day in the future to make it happen. Gerd also often points out that the future is already here – we just haven’t paid enough attention to it!
In conversation with Mr. Sanjeev Arora, we discussed about the technology trends of the future, many of which have already made their presence felt already somewhere in the world. It can be safely said the tech trends like, energy transition, IoT, Automation, Drones, AI etc. are already here and will further intensify their presence in the days and years to come in a much bigger and effective manner.
The prime objective of these technologies is making the earth a better place. Mr. Arora also shared his top 5 advice to the youth.
Hope the episode resonates with all of you who are either listening to the podcast version of those who are viewing it on the YouTube. If you like it, do share your thoughts, like and subscribe the YouTube and Podcast channel.

The big 5 Tech companies in the world, Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon & Microsoft had sales revenue $ 1.4 Trillion, which is more than the the GDP of Mexico. 86% all the searches online happens on Google. Facebook has 2.9 Billion Monthly Active Users. YouTube has over 2.3 Billion users, which also acts as the second largest search engine after Google. We are bombarded with so much of information through different mediums. In these times of so much of information, it is important to know how to navigate through the chaos and exposure of excess of Media, Information and Digital/Technology. The new YouTube video is an attempt to address that issue. These skills involve the ability to access and assess information, media, and digital technology to critically evaluate and understand the different aspects of content and information. Digital literacy: One needs to know which sources are reliable for accessing the digital information. Also one needs to know the dangers of data security. Understanding the machines and the instruments that help in spreading the information. Technology literacy gives us the basic information that we need to understand what gadgets perform what tasks and why to adapt to the world more effectively. Information literacy: Since are bombarded with information from different sources it is possible to create a mechanism of propaganda instead of giving just pure information. One has to guard against the same. Understanding facts, figures, and data. This skill is essential, as it is important to separate facts from fiction, in an age that is surrounded by a lot of misinformation, myths, and, misconceptions. Media literacy: All media houses are run for profit. So they have to sell news to remain in business. One must understand this concept very clearly. Understanding how information is shared with the public. It is the practice of identifying publishing methods, outlets, and sources while distinguishing between the ones that are credible and the ones that aren’t. 10th Grade is in true sense the cross road for taking the right career decision for the students. One can change the course of the career post 12th grade or even graduation and post graduation also. But that would be wasting one's own time and limited resources as well. The competition is intense, hence it is important to take the informed decision about your child's career. Traditionally, Parents in India and Indian Parents abroad are glued to only few career options for their children. This webinar was to address the issue of career selection keeping in my how the world is shaping up and how that has an impact on the future careers. Career Choice should also consider the individual's Personality, Ability and Interests and not just academic excellence in a particular subject.

The children and young population in India are one of the highest cohorts at this point in time. Children born between 1997 to 2010 now contribute to a little over 36 crores of India’s total population of over 140 Crores now.
As the population of this cohort increases in India, the growth in school admissions also growing accordingly. Between 2010 to 2021, there is a 185% increase in the number of students passing from CBSE (from 7 Lakhs to 13 Lakhs). https://www.cbse.gov.in/newsite/statisticalInformation.html
Also, there is a substantial increase in the manner the children are now scoring marks in the 10th board exams. Students scoring 90% or more have increased 8 times between 2010 to 2020 (17,546 to 1,57,934). And students scoring 95% or more has just doubled in two years (2019 to 2020). https://www.cbse.gov.in/cbsenew/statistics.html
At the same time, admissions into the top colleges and universities in India and Abroad are becoming tougher.
For example, getting into the top 100 Engineering colleges in India (which have approx. 45000 seats) in India could be very tough at just 3.6%. The probability to get into IIT or NIT is 1.1% and 1.7% respectively. There is a YouTube video about this which you can check out. https://youtu.be/gqXRj__BFzc.
Getting into the MBBS or BDS college in India is also fairly tough, there are about 83 K MBBS seats and 26 K BDS Seats, and over 16 Lakhs students attempt to get into those colleges. Check out a relevant video about the same on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5QlAoYOo60I
Another example of the Law exam, CLAT, for about 2100 seats, over 62 K students appeared in 2021.
In the National Education Policy, there is mention of the shift from the traditional method to the more holistic approach of assessment soon.
In view of the above developments in terms of the demographics of India and the changes in the proposed National Educational Policy, it is prudent to engage your child in some kind of holistic development program which can be Co-Curricular, Extra – Curricular, Academic Honors Programs, Career-Focused Courses, and Summer Internship Programs to give the child the various career options before choosing the best fit.
Holistic development will take a few years ranging from 1 to 4 years, so the early one starts, the better for the child in the wake of the forthcoming intense competition in his or her cohort.
