In this podcast, we will spend our time challenging self identifying Christians about topics that have become highly politicized and polarized. In many of these areas we will examine the influence of race in these spaces and why we can’t understand racism without exploring its influence in all of these areas that are labeled black and white, red and blue. The goal is take a deeper look and take a few things for greater consideration—beyond your knee jerk reaction to the subject based on “Christian principles.” I’m not a troublemaker. Never have been. I’m more of a rule follower that is motivated to do what’s right while examining and critically considering who made the rules and why.

HR is an interesting place. Supportive and encouraging to some. Terror striking and unnerving to many. Especially in America. Where did the model of HR come from? Is this yet another infrastructure of America that is marinated in White Supremacy? Let’s discuss.
These two American heroes have a lot in common. Namely, how the people responded to them then and how the people respond to them now. Notorious or Notables? Hmmm. Say less.
In the process of dealing with racism, we as Black people have some hard decisions to make. We’re all where we are now because of those who went before us that also had hard decisions to make. Let’s talk about the complexity of it.
We’re not always going to talk about current, current events. But when we do, you know it’s important. And you’re not always going to hear me “take a position” on politicized issues. But we’re going to go there this week. Politics, racism, and abortion. Let’s get that faith talk to take a walk.
What does it mean to walk confidently and live humbly? Specifically for black people in America. But even more specifically for our black children. Join me and my LPC, LMFT husband as we unpack this from historical, cultural and psychological perspective.
As people, we have layers of similarities and differences that both connect us and differentiate our experiences. It’s okay to connect on ways we’re the same but let’s not overstep by assuming our “struggle” is the same or “very similar” to someone else’s. Listen in to understand a little bit more about the why.
Let’s talk about the power of black hair, the impacts of new legislation, and why a cultural shift around the expectations of what we’re "supposed to do" with our hair is necessary and long overdo.
The world has watched in disbelief as Putin has acted with a total disregard for the human lives of innocent people. But are we as a America any different? Have we been fooled to think that white supremacy and the desire to be in control is more socially acceptable in the history and narrative of our country then in others? Let’s talk about it.
As much as many of us want to believe the laws are created from a lens of black and white objectivity or “matter of factness,” the reality is that laws are HEAVILY influenced and dictated by the cultural norms of the day. (Hence why it was legal for so long and on our “founding fathers' "watch to traffic and exploit human bodies for economic gain.) So listen in as we talk about the essence of Gov. DeSantis’ legislation and unpack the implications and the prohibitions that are at its very core.
As we watch the political and cultural landscape in our country unfold, sometimes as Black Americans, living in another country looks extremely appealing. Listen in as we discuss it why Gary and I have had real conversations about ex-patriotism being a real option for our family.
It looks different for all of us when it’s time to make decisions that we believe are for the greater good, but having very real and lasting implications for ourselves and those closest to us. Listen in as we discuss what this has looked like in the life of former black NFL Coach Brian Flores and his lawsuit against the NFL for racism and discrimination
Bdubb_unplugged, challenging Christians as we talk about areas that have become highly politicized and polarized. We won't start and stop at race, but we'll talk about all the things: vaccinations, CRT, abortion, racism... all the things people don't bring up at parties. So if you don't like being challenged in what you think you believe as a self identified Christian. Then this is probably not the podcast for you because we're going there.
It's time to start thinking critically about some things so that we can let those convictions get up in there. What political party do I identify with? What denomination am I? Spoil alert. You won't be getting me into any of those boxes. Please, and thank you.
