As the first lockout of the first season of AFLW Fantasy approaches, Jono, Mel, Will and Liam run through a stack of things coaches need to think about before week 1 including:
- the highly owned injured players
- the best rookies to start in your side
- captain / vice captain options
- some of the most lowly owned points of difference
There's also plenty of handy advice from the gang as they go about trying to draft the 'Free Kick Team', where each host gets a chance to pick their favourite options under the salary cap!

Mel gets sent to the smug corner for having a great round, great trades and the right VC loophole, and Liam reflects on his mistakes that didn't leave him as smug this week. Mel and Will are pumped to talk through the largely unchanged lineup of fantasy talent at the Eagles. While West Coast have had a disappointing few seasons, we know they are working hard to make Season 8 their season. In the Fantasy top 5, Will peppers in some #flagchat for Mel's #4 pick given the return of some injured players from previous seasons, and Will drops in a surprise name for the Host special who is going "straight in Mel's team".

After a tough first season in the competition, Sydney took full advantage of the Priority Signing Period by signing two stars to fit into their midfield. Former Pie Chloe Molloy and former Blue Lucy McEvoy will feature heavily in discussions about the club in Season 8, especially with both being named co-captains.
With so much conjecture about how the Swans’ midfield will shape up, we decided to go to the source for two big interviews. Liam sat down with new skipper Chloe Molloy to chat her move and how the Swans will look to improve in 2023, and then with fan favourite Lauren Szigeti for more insight into what the team learned from their first year in the AFLW. Clubs in Days Series 2023
St Kilda were THEbig player in free agency after season 7, with a host characters joining the Saints from across the comp, with Collingwood stalwarts Steph Chiocci and Jamie 'Lamb Chop' Lambert, and former Brisbane Lion plus s7's leading goal kicker, Jesse Wardlaw, among the biggest names.
Not to be outdone but the size of the free agency haul, the pod had a bumber crop of interviewees, with Will getting to sit down with captain Hannah Priest, the aforementioned Jesse Wardlaw, and young gun Tyanna Smith for one of the best interviews of the preseason. Be sure to join the gang was they discuss the most fantasy relevant players coming out of Moorabbin in season 8.

Despite her comments, the Tigers are coming off a great Season 7 having made finals, but some interesting ins and outs in the trade period make for fascinating fantasy potential coming into Season 8.
And in todays interview, Liam was lucky enough to chat to Season 7 breakout star Eilish Sheerin about some very juicy topics, including the look of the Tiger's forward line after Wakefield's retirement, KB's presence in the midfield, and who is looking to impress in Season 8.

Whilst the loss of Vicki Wall is certainly a sore point, the arrival of Kate Shierlaw certainly softens the blow. Collingwood are one of the AFLW's perrenial finals sides, however, the Pies were yet again unable to break through into the truly top tier. 2023 looks to be a very different season for the squad, with elite midfielders Britt Bonnici and Bri Davey rejoining the squad off the back of ACL recovery, and with the arrival of Tarni White from St Kilda. However, Collingwood see a whole load of leadership and experience leave for St Kilda, with former captain Steph Chiocci and Jamie Lambert both out the door.
