Charlie Beckett is a past senior producer and programme editor at BBC News and Current affairs, and current founding director of Polis, the think-tank for research and debate around international journalism and society (London School of Economics). He is currently leading the Polis Journalism and AI research project. He is the author of SuperMediaand Wikileaks: News In The Networked Era. In this episode, he discusses the journalism industry and the future of the field with us.

In his previous life, Martin both selected the footage and stories that would be available to news reporters to broadcast in Turkey and other regions of the world, as well as ran his own television show, Crossroads. Martin Anthony Huhn, now in Canada and previously editor-in-chief of the English news division), shows us how news is made and discusses broader implications of news for the world. Together, we discuss the role of media, access to information and free press.
Flavius Mihaies, War Journalist, reflects on freedom of press and new technologies, constraints for journalists, journalism as tools for democracy, plurality or views and narratives. Flavius Mihaies is also a consultant for the world bank and volunteers as yoga teacher in refugee camp.
We've spoken about the entire chain from production to distribution of news. What if we could impact citizen engagement and trustworthiness of media through a user's screen? Anthony Landreth discusses a project for interfacing with the news in an evidence-based manner.
