It turns out that a lot of the rumours were right: Glenn Maxwell will go to London Spirit but Quinton de Kock is not retained. Rashid Khan is back but there is no sign of some big West Indian names. Every team has left themselves work to do at the draft on 30 March 2022, including at least one top-tier pay bracket slot... will those spots be filled by the biggest names in cricket?

A review of the first weekend of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 action from Rich, Oli and Tom. Superb bowling from Shaheen Shah Afridi set Pakistan up for a memorable run chase against a below-par India. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan won it in style by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka tracked down a challenging chase of 172, with Asalanka starring for a previously underestimated batting order. The West Indies' superstar batters fail spectacularly against England's spin attack of Moeen Ali and Rashid Khan, leaving the tournament favourites a simple chase for a big win. Australia make hard work of their response to a poor total from South Africa but get there in the end. Did South Africa get it wrong tactically in the final overs? The T20 Cricket World Cup 2021 Super 12 groups are set! The qualifying groups have played some scintillating cricket this week; Rich and Tom review what they have seen. Sri Lanka's bowling has impressed, Scotland have sprung a big surprise, Bangladesh have warmed up and Namibia have created history. Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Ireland have disappointed a touch but perhaps all of these teams should have been given a chance against the Super 12 teams too? The result is a beautifully set Super 12 stage, with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka joining an already fearsome Group 1 of Australia, England, South Africa and West Indies. Scotland and Namibia however might fancy some upsets in Group 2, with Afghanistan, India, New Zealand and Pakistan.
No sooner has the IPL concluded than the T20 World Cup and the Women's Big Bash League start... the great short format cricket continues to roll. Rich and Tom digest CSK's win in IPL, and ask whether this is the end of an era for a team that has got used to success over the years? Why couldn't the KKR middle order contribute and how disappointed should DC be with their week?
There is just one week of the regular IPL 2021 season left before the eliminators and finals. With CSK and DC already qualified, and RCB looking good for third, who can grab that all important fourth place in the table? Tom and Rich get right into the IPL action this week. It seems to be the domestic Indian players who are making the most of the tournament, but which potential T20 World Cup stars are hitting form at the right time? There is also a chance to look forward to English domestic cricket in 2022: can the ECB improve the scheduling of matches?!

India's Women finally end Australia's 26-match winning run in the 3rd ODI in Mackay, while here in the UK the Southern Vipers defend the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy with a 3 wicket win over the Northern Diamonds and the boys review the first week back of the IPL before checking in on England Women's series against New Zealand. They wrap up with their thoughts on England's cancellation of the white ball tour to Pakistan, originally scheduled for October.

After a fantastic T20 Blast finals day, Rich and Tom discuss Kent's victory over Somerset. First up thought, there is also the small matter of the return of the IPL. With just under half the competition left, who can win the interrupted, rescheduled and relocated tournament in the United Arab Emirates? And who can stake a late claim to a World Cup squad place? Last Wednesday also saw the culmination of the Caribbean Premier League, with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots beating St Lucia Kings in a tight and exciting match. Chris Benjamin is one of the most amazing cricket stories to come out of The Hundred. He has gone from university student to Warwickshire's second XI to Birmingham Phoenix in just a couple of months. But he has grasped every opportunity. In his first match against London Spirit, he hit a match winning innings, was named Hero Of The Match and had Kevin Petersen drooling with his inventive shots. Since then, the impressive Birmingham Phoenix have swept aside their competition and on Saturday 21 August 2021 Chris will play his first ever match at Lord's... in the final of The Hundred. Rich and Tom ask Chris all about that journey, where it can take him next and whether he would rather face a fast ball from Marchant de Lange or Tymal Mills!

England fast bowler, Manchester Originals captain, broadcaster and podcaster, Kate Cross has been one of the faces of The Hundred. She was kind enough to find a bit of time in her incredibly busy schedule to talk to Rich and Tom about The Hundred, leading the Manchester Originals and how to use the interest generated by the tournament to take Women's cricket forward.
Simon Katich played 56 tests for Australia, but is now a successful coach having led the Perth Scorchers to the Big Bash title. He is currently head coach of the Manchester Originals. Oli caught up with him the day after the Originals defeat to the Spirit to talk about The Hundred so far, the big games to come and if Simon has ever faced an Alex Hales moment of his own.
Tom and Oli discuss the action from round 6 of The Hundred... until Rich then joins in the fun. It's a slightly chaotic update, with the focus turning from the disappointments of rain to the action in the tournament tables. Shafali Verma seems to be hitting form at just the right time for Birmingham Phoenix, but will the loss of the red-hot Moeen Ali hurt their men's prospects? The Northern Superchargers look to have plenty of batting in the line-up, especially with the super powerful Aussie Laura Kimmince and Captain Lauren Winfield-Hill. It will be all change for Welsh Fire men after half of the tournament as they swap the fierce Kiwis Glenn Phillips and Jimmy Neesham for franchise stalwarts Kieron Pollard and Lungi Ngidi.
