It's undeniable that sometimes life does not pan out the way you expected. You get to have unexpected bills, unexpected turn of events due to health issues, death and job loss. These things might cause you to take loans and for good reason. However, there are certain events that I personally feel we should be wary of when considering to get loans to sponsor them.
Weddings are one of them. Many people have their idea of what their wedding should look like. They've probably dreamed for years about the decor, the dress, who they will invite, the guest artist and so on. These dreams are fantastic and not harmless. It is nice to dream, if not how would you discover how much you could achieve something. However just as dreams sometimes seem to be far from our realities when we wake up, wedding dreams can also be our of reach of our budget. And I understand that something you've held on for so long can be hard to let go. The question now though is, is it wise to spend your savings on a wedding that will last for a day just to fulfill a fantasy?
Is it wise to take a loan at all for this event? I won't say the answer is a solid NO even though I'm tilting more to this opinion. It of course depends on whether you can afford to pay back within a very short time and what exactly you're hoping on to be able to pay back this money. Are you generally financially stable? Do you have a job? Again you need to be open with your partner about what you can actually afford. Some men single handedly take out all the loans and then bring the debt they were not open about to their wives to handle. Maybe if she'd known you were borrowing for the event, she would have said no to a lot of things just to cut costs.
It is definitely unwise to take a loan if you do have know what money you're hoping on getting to pay back the loan. Or even have a concrete payment plan of the amount. If you're already deep in debt, it's even more reason to probably hold off the wedding till when you can afford it, because really what point is there if you've taken so much already from the bank and friends and family and exhausted the places you normally would turn to for a quick loan if you don't pay them back? Those people will be less willing to lend to you anymore.
Also, consider that you're starting a new life and especially consider that you're starting a young married life where you want to be able to come home to a relaxed atmosphere. The tension and pressure of multiple loans or even one huge loan hanging over your head is not going to help you feel at ease. And that's how fights over money begin.
So in the end I recommend that rather than borrowing, perhaps postpone till you're more stable financially and if you don't want to do that, ateast cut your expenses in a way that does not have you repaying a debt over many months or years. Better to do these fancy things at a later date and build your life today in peace.

Three years ago, my only Ukrainian friend at the time and even now lol, invited me to Kyiv. I lived at Fastiv at the time. Infact, that's where my Ukrainian side of the family still is and Kyiv is about an hour and a half away from Fastiv.
She recently bought a Canon Camera and I think she harbored plans of going into photography and she wanted me to model for her. She didn't tell me I was going to model for her before inviting me over. My friend can be eccentric like that. Anyways, I went and she practiced her makeup skills on me and invited me to wear this Ukrainian attire or traditional clothing.
It is called Vyshyvanka. It consists of a folk shirt or blouse for women and a red skirt. It's quite expressive and can be quite expensive because I think it's handmade.
I wore this and since I had no shoes because I'd obviously not come prepared and since I wear a size 41 to 41, my friend gave me a pair of slippers to wear.
We trekked some distance to KPI. This stands for Kyiv Politechnic institute. The institute is quite old and the students were still around and were definitely staring at us but we didn't mind. Actually, I'm an introvert and I did mind as I don't like attention but since my friend did not mind, some of that rubbed off me and I began to not care as well :)
Kyiv politechnic institute was founded on 31 August, 1898. That's a really long time ago, so it definitely has a long history which I encourage you to read about. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed viewing some of the pictures we took. See you next time!

If you want to see a young Robert De Niro, Taxi Driver is one of those films you should watch. I have no recollection of watching this film in the past so I'm grateful to have to see films you'd consider to be classic films with fresh eyes.
This film was released in 1976. Quite a long time ago and I don't have to stress it but I will, seeing Robert De Niro as a young man was fascinating for me. I could see that upturn lip and his unique smile.
Taxi driver is a Martin Scorsese and Martin is the most nominated director of all time and has made about nine films starring Robert De Niro.
The film stars other actors like Cybil Shepherd and Jodie Foster who actually was 12 years old at the time it was made. It also is one of her best child performances. Really strong and I think I still can't believe she was 12. She really played like a mature and refined actress.
According to wiki, In 1994, the film was considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant by the US Library of Congress, and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
This film is about a taxi driver who goes by the name of Travis, who suffers from insomnia. He was a veteran and spent his nights driving in New York city just to keep busy. He also keeps a journal. AT night, New York is filled with prostitutes and degenerates. It feels as if the society is crumbling, bleak; it fills Travis with despair. It is on one of his night time rides that he discovers a 12 year old prostitute by name of Iris who works for a pimp; sharp. He desperately wants to rescue her although when you watch this film, you realize that Iris is not exactly being held hostage. She is a preteen who ran away from her loving parents and was influenced negatively to think this was her life. We know this because Travis does have a conversation with her at a café and Jodie here really gives a stunning performance. She's so natural in her acting.
Also, Travis develops a love interest for a woman named Betsy who works as campaign volunteer for a man she hopes will be elected president. Currently a senator, his name is Charles Palentine and Travis, although initially friendly with him when he was trying to win her affection, decides later on to assassinate the man. It doesn't work though and he is chased from one of the campaign venues. It doesn't work out with him and Betsy because Travis loves to watch porn in porn theaters at the time. Side note, I did not know such things existed and she does not find this appropriate when he takes her to view one. I don't blame her. So anyway it ends between them and with the angst in him, his desire to rid his city of filth, Travis buys many guns and visits the brothel where Iris works and shoots the three men involved in this business. He tries to shoot himself too but it does not work as he runs out of bullets.
I thought he'd die but when the cops come, they do not arrest him and in later scenes we see that he is healthy and still a cab driver.
I found this film really interesting and very well done. There was great attention to detail and revealing the unstable mental state of Travis. SO much care and attention was given to each character and the theme is truly a solid one. I will rate this a 9 out of ten and I recommend you watch to be culturally aware of the times it was critiquing and watch well known stars in their prime.
