The prose of Matthew Fung. Follow along and listen to old-fashioned advice playing out in the life of a young man on his road to maturing. This show covers the worlds of Asian masculinity, self-improvement, and good living, all in hope to give at least some inspiration to those who need it.

I feel like no one bothers to discuss how bias towards certain hobbies exist in Asian culture and, as a result, a lot of creativity gets squandered, a lot of confidence smushed in people, and a lot of purposeless souls are left to wander. Well, here's my attack and hope for change. Enjoy.

I still continue to baffle people's assumptions of me where this one's a kicker: I love sea shanties! In this episode, I go on board a ship to discuss my beginnings with sea shanty appreciation, why they resonate with me, and how they can speak for you. Chime in laddies: it's a-time for sailing.

Forgive me for this episode as it comes across more a rant. You need friends to succeed in this Life. Period.

This episode I talk about the greatest act I have done to learn the most from my mom and my dad. I explain what traits and characteristics work to make my dad so splendid and I go off praising how sharp and intelligent my mom really is. If you love making remarks about Asian parents just being Asian parents, then you'll love this episode.

This episode is an ode to Taiko, not only for Senryu Taiko, my beloved corps, but as well as all the great intercollegiate Taiko organizations that speckle the West Coast. If you happen to be affiliated with this great community, then take this as my thanks, from me to you, for making our experience the best.👏👏

Matt does skits now?? Just kidding but check out what it's like turning 21 in a Miami nightclub with the boys in 1985. This episode is my way of saying "Happy Birthday to me!" so, Happy Belated Birthday, Matt!

A whole hour of Matt talking about Cantonese food while in a Chinese restaurant? Say less.

What's not to like about Henry Golding?? In this episode, I cover several points about why Henry Golding is an inspirational figure to me and how I think other like-minded guys, particularly Asians, could learn from him. Tune in and let's learn, not only to appreciate, but to better ourselves.

Taking the direction a spin away from the Asian world for a while because let's talk about a guy thing: guys don't have class no more. Honor, dignity, duty, respect. Those words define true gentlemen and sadly we don't see that today. We have to do something, on our parts, for our worlds.

Snobbish, expensive, luxurious. Three words that fit the description for loving watches yet deal only ill fits towards what this world truly means to me. This episode I go over my quiet love for watches and the craftsmanship behind them. No real focus on brands, mechanisms, or worth, just real taste. If you have a taste for masterful creations, you'll definitely like this episode.

This is the shortest episode because I get straight to the point: Asian bros need to know their worth or else others will assign them a worth. Don't depreciate yourself! Tune in for more I've got to say on confidence lacking in today's Asian men.

Forgive me if this episode sounds complicated and confusing because surprise surprise: the topic is just that. The THAZ podcast attempts to cover the dilemma of ABCs finding doubt or hatred for their ethnicity and mindful lessons to keep in mind to perhaps extinguish this problem.

(WARNING: This is NOT an attack to Asian parents and the way they raise their kids!)
This is about Asian parenting and the many flaws that tie in with the stereotypes held over their style of parenting and perhaps a few revisions of mine that I hope will grow the potential Asian households and their children could achieve.

(WARNING: Profanity, Potentially Offensive)This is a derail from the "Why" Series, a derail I think necessary because I think it time for a fresh taste of a well-thought topic. This episode is not based in "Asian Excellence" alone. It focuses on "Asian Masculine Excellence", going over its concept, what it means for the Asian community, what it means to us guys, and why I am so passionate about its significance. Yes, this is a long episode but the truly virtuous will understand its timespan. Enjoy.

On this week's episode, I tackle a question that always lies in the back of college students minds: whether college as a whole was truly worth the experience...harsh. I go over some of the key flaws that bothered me up till now, issues I believe college classrooms should address instead, and why I choose to stay in the college life instead of simply dropping out. This one is definitely fitting for the ears of college students so give it a listen!

This is a long episode so I apologize in advance. However, I won't apologize that I love my history and if you think it's boring you're not looking in the right places! In this week's episode, I cover why The Art of War by Sun Tzu is my favorite work of literature of all time, going over some of the core themes and concepts covered in it. For real fanatics, sorry I don't cover the "know yourself" portion but I really hope that's something for another episode...spoilers. Well, enough of me: listen to this!

This is an interesting twist of topics because this episode covers a sect of people I am greatly enamored by, warriors. I take the liberty to explain what defines the warrior path, how this separates them from mere civilians, great stories of battlefield accomplishments, and so much more. I couldn't cover every niche topic about them within 26 minutes but I hope by listening you could understand the passion I have to explore their history and their lives.

Here's more personal tidbits about me! It's rare to hear this side of me but, I'm honestly an awkward, introverted human being. Take a crack at listening to me explain a habit of mine I will work to see finished and decide whether you could learn a thing or two from my efforts!

Many filed the complaint that Episode #6 could have been amazing... if it had just been longer. To make up for that little bit of lost conversation, I present Episode #7: What's After "Why?". This sounds curious but I cover the thought process of what goes down after you begin taking the liberty of rewiring your daily activities. Most interestingly, I take time to explain the frustration in my personal life, a topic I doubt any hear about and most are, in fact, interested to hear more of me beyond what they know.

Tune in for the shortest episode on the podcast so far! In the span of 10 minutes, I tackle reasons about why you should start asking "Why?" more often. The inspiration behind the question is covered, how it helps me gain insight as a person, and reminds listeners of the haunted reality when people refuse to question.

This episode takes a different turn delving more into my personal life. It specifically covers my decision to live by one phrase: "0 or 100, 0 to 100". I delve into what fueled this decision, what drives me to continue down this road, and determining whether it's just for others. I know this one is long but I promise the time is well spent if listened to.

Today is a special release with 2 episodes back to back on the same day! Again, sorry for the delayed release but I hope the double-double makes up for it. On this episode, I cover the reasons why I choose to be fashionable and have a well-maintained appearance. I also give tips and feedback about how to dress better for those  inclined to pay more attention to this action. So give this episode a listen with open ears and open mind, get ready to dip your toes into warmer waters, and embrace your appearance.

SO SORRY FOR THE DELAYED RELEASE OF EPISODE 3. Anyways, enough excuses. This episode I cover the question of "Why do I go for 'salt'?" It's an entertaining moment to explain my work ethic, the inspiration behind it, the people that lay an impact on how hard I should work, and my critiques on the relationship between hard work and Chinese-Americans. Again, apologies for the delay but check in for this 20-ish minutes of bursting FAX.

This episode is the beginning of a new series for this podcast called the Why?  series, a set of episodes dedicated to answering all the "why"s in my life. In this episode specifically, I take on the question many ask me often: Why am I simple? Strap up your helmet, keep your attention tuned, and get ready for quite the talk. Perhaps you'll learn something useful out of this.
