While I’m personally agnostic and find the Christian Bible to be a highly metaphorical and allegorical text, when it comes to cosmology, the Bible is quite clear in its explanation of the shape of the Earth. The creation and structure of Earth is described in hundreds of verses, detailing a geocentric level plane bounded by a solid vault of the sky within which the Sun, Moon, and stars all revolve. Nowhere in any Biblical scripture is Earth described as a spinning globe rotating around the Sun in a vacuum of ever-expanding space. In fact, the Bible makes no mention of outer-space or the other trillions upon trillions of planets claimed to exist by modern astronomers. It also makes no mention of a Big Bang explosive beginning and no mention of the force of gravity holding people and oceans stuck to all sides of a spinning ball. The cosmology outlined by the Bible is clearly a geocentric, fixed and motionless, flat Earth...

When pressed on the question of why the world must have such a predatory food chain of life feeding upon life, both theists and atheists alike, tend to claim that the reason is because predators serve the function of regulating the numbers of their prey, preventing them from becoming over-populated, and this is their purpose. This belief that predators regulate prey is nearly ubiquitous and unquestioned by both ecologists and lay people. If an animal has become a pest or is found proliferating in a new environment, the immediate assumed response is that this is because its natural enemies are absent or that it has somehow escaped from being regulated by its various predators. The idea has been repeated so often and for so long that most assume it to be a settled scientific fact of nature. The reality is however, that the evidence from a wide range of studies conclude that predators in fact have little to no effect on the overall population of their prey...

The earliest recorded writings found in known history include the Sumerian Kesh Temple Hymn dated back to 2600 B.C., Egyptian Pyramid Texts dated back to 2400 B.C., the Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh dated to 2100 B.C., and the Indian Rig Veda first written down in 1500 B.C. but orally passed down for generations prior. Common sense would suggest that if the Earth is constantly spinning 1040 mph Eastwards at the equator, there should be a significant difference in Eastward versus Westward flight durations. In reality, the supposed spin of the Earth never factors into flight times whether traveling North, South, East or West. Spinning globe Earth defenders claim the reason for this is that the entire atmosphere perfectly spins in sync along with the Earth and all planes inherit and maintain the Earth's Eastward spin for their entire flight durations...

Globe believers are taught that the flat horizon seen all around them is actually the physical curvature of their Earth globe. They will often claim to have seen the horizon slightly curving when observed from an airplane window, or claim that ships disappearing beyond the horizon have descended below the Earth’s curvature. Both of these presuppose and imply that the observable horizon is the literal physical curvature of the globe. In fact, Aristotle’s very first alleged proof of the globe recorded over 2,000 years ago rested upon this assumption. But is this accurate? Is the horizon really the curvature of the Earth?

Robert Monroe was an American radio broadcasting executive who was known for his work in the field of altered states of consciousness. He founded the Monroe Institute for the exploration of human consciousness, patented hemi-sync binaural beats, and coined the term out-of-body experience. Monroe wrote several books about his astral travels out of body, the beings he met in the spirit world, and the information they imparted to him. Perhaps the most notable of all occurs in Chapter 12 of his book Far Journeys, where he describes an out-of-body experience with a being who shared a creation story claiming Earth was made as “a garden to grow Loosh.”

Since the modern resurgence of the Flat Earth subject in 2014, the main methods of engagement by the masses have unfortunately been denial, ridicule, and once in a while, a so-called “debate.” With most any other topic, debates take the shape of formal conversations where opposing positions are presented, argued, and rebutted in an effort to better understand an issue. However, with this hot-button topic, since it is widely perceived as just an incorrect archaic assumption of our ignorant ancient ancestors, those arguing against it tend to have such arrogance and contempt that the debates usually devolve into nothing but repeated interruptions, name-calling, sarcasm and logical fallacies. While I applaud and appreciate everyone who brings attention to this important issue, I would argue that what we really need to help bring alternative cosmology center-stage is more genuine discourse, dialogue, discussions, and demonstrations, not debates.

Whether it is the Christian judgement of one’s sins, the Books of the Dead weighing one’s heart on the scales, or the Hindu/Buddhist notion of karma determining one’s rebirth, the idea that our moral decisions in life are recorded, analyzed and scrutinized during the afterlife is nearly ubiquitous. On the surface, this may seem just and good that our actions are judged and reflected in our afterlife experience, and that evil people will eventually have to atone for their sins, but a deeper examination reveals that under the surface this system is really not fair or balanced at all.

This world is a feeding frenzy. Think of how many insects are killed every day to feed the world’s fish, how many fish are killed every day to feed the world’s birds, how many birds are killed every day to feed the world’s humans, and how many humans are killed every day to feed lions, tigers, bears, crocodiles, sharks, vultures, wolves and hyenas? Why was such a systemic cycle of suffering put into place here? Is that really necessary? Is that really what a loving, benevolent, compassionate creator would design? What truly good ultimate purpose could such incessant suffering serve? How many children have to be born with torturous terminal illnesses? How many have to die in terrible natural disasters. What is the underlying reason for all these tragedies? Why did the creator have to include such perpetual torments in this reality?

One interesting thing to notice regarding the flat versus ball earth debate is that proponents of both models surprisingly agree on one very important point. Globe believers and globe deniers alike agree that there is an objective, empirical, testable, and repeatable fact of reality known as “level.” We agree that all the oceans, lakes, ponds, and other standing bodies of water on Earth are measurably level. We agree that the natural physics of water and other fluids is to find and maintain level. We also agree that instruments like plumb bobs, spirit levels, laser levels, theodolites, astrolabes and sextants are able to accurately determine and measure that level. The only disagreement we actually have on this matter is the true meaning of the word “level.”

Cognitive Dissonance is the psychological tension that occurs when holding two contradictory beliefs simultaneously such as loving cows, but also loving hamburgers. The discomfort experienced when holding two incompatible cognitions isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and in fact can act as a catalyst prompting positive changes. It becomes problematic, however, when people experiencing cognitive dissonance instead display denial, angst, anger, incredulity, or exasperation. Those suffering from crippling cognitive dissonance will often blame other people or outside factors, avoid certain subjects, and rationalize poor decisions. The psychological tension of cognitive dissonance can be relieved though, once the seemingly contradictory cognitions find a way to sensibly co-exist. If you love cows but also love hamburgers, for example, you might try cutting down your consumption, or switch to some of the many vegan hamburger options.
Aristotle said, “Nothing is more challenging than the ability to study, debate, and think through a concept without immediately accepting or rejecting it. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it,” and F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote that, “The truest sign of intelligence is the ability to entertain two contradictory ideas simultaneously.” In other words, the ability to ponder opposite ideas without experiencing crippling cognitive dissonance, is the mark of a balanced mind. The capacity to consider contradictory cognitions without immediately accepting or rejecting one of them, is one of the surest signs of intelligence. Every issue has at least two sides, often three or more, and if you have only researched or thought about one side of a subject without ever giving due diligence to differing perspectives, that is nothing but willful ignorance. Those who are able to refrain from judgement long enough to genuinely research and weigh the evidence from all sides of a given issue are the most likely to arrive at truth.
For a truly insightful, concrete case-study in cognitive dissonance, I recommend delving deep into the subject of cosmology. Consider this: We have been taught that we live on a giant sphere floating in space, tilting on its vertical axis, wobbling through a precession, and spinning through the seasons. This spinning ball Earth reaches speeds of over 1,000 miles per hour at the equator and causes an optical illusion of the Sun, Moon and stars revolving over and around us. The spinning ball Earth also revolves 67,000 miles per hour around the Sun, while the whole solar system spirals 500,000 miles per hour through the Milky Way, and the entire Milky Way galaxy shoots off millions of more miles per hour from a creationary explosion 14.7 billion years ago. These astronomical assumptions are taught as gospel truths while differing perspectives are not only not considered, they are condemned. And as Einstein said, “Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.”
So, let’s attempt an investigation without condemnation, denial or ridicule, and try to examine a different perspective – your own common sense every day experience of the world...

This past decade there has been a revival, a resurgence, and a veritable renaissance surrounding the topic of cosmology. Tens of millions of people have done personal experiments, read ancient texts, and found inconsistencies and discrepancies with conventional teachings. For many years the Flat Earth community at large was in agreement that the world is a level motionless plane as evidenced by our common sense, everyday experience, and countless scientific experiments including the Michelson-Morley, Michelson-Gale, Sagnac, Airy's Failure, and observable realities such as perfectly circular star trails around a stationary Pole Star, and the constellations remaining in their relative positions to one another for all of recorded history. Recently, however, a few Flat Earthers have revived Leo Ferrari's old Flat Earth Society claim that the world is not in fact a level motionless plane, but rather a constantly upwards rising plane. These people cite experiments such as a helium balloon moving forward in an accelerating car, or a cork inside a dropped bottle of water momentarily ceasing its descent while mid-air as proof positive that Earth cannot be a stationary plane. They claim the only possible way to explain these results is to assume Earth to be constantly rising at 9.8 meters per second or approximately 22 miles per hour straight upwards. There is some debate amongst them regarding whether this upward motion is a constant velocity or an acceleration, but these new "upward rising Earthers" have all recently come into agreement that our flat Earth can no longer be stationary...

In the Flat-Earth model, the Sun and Moon luminaries revolve around the Earth illuminating like spotlights the areas over which they pass. For the next three months every day the Sun slightly widens its path and hastens its speed until the by the autumnal equinox the Sun has spiraled its way from the Tropic of Cancer back to the equator. Then for the next three months again every day the Sun continues to slightly expand its path and increase its speed until the winter solstice when the Sun repeats its largest, fastest circle around the Tropic of Capricorn and the annual corkscrew journey begins again.

For the past 15 years I have been eating a high-raw, high-carb, low-fat vegan diet and reaping the benefits daily. Before switching to eating plant-based I had chronic acid reflux since childhood and would regularly get strep or sore throats, colds or flus nearly every few months. I had actually accepted this state of constant disease as normal until doing more research and experimentation for and on myself.
