Priscilla Tyson is a lifelong resident of Columbus, The middle of child of five, Priscilla Tyson grew up in the Near East side neighborhood of Shepard, and graduated from Eastmoor High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Franklin University, after also attending what is now known as Columbus State Community College. She and her husband, Attorney Renny J. Tyson, Sr, are the proud parents of five adult children and four grandchildren. They are also Deacons at First Church of God, Columbus.
Priscilla R. Tyson’s career has spanned over four decades, touching the sectors of banking, healthcare, public service, the arts, local government, and human services.
Her dynamic career includes more than 16 years of distinguished service in banking and healthcare, before helping to found and lead City Year Columbus – an organization that inspires diverse young people, and helps them understand the importance and impact of community service. While serving as the Executive Director of City Year Columbus, Tyson became a member of The Columbus Civil Service Commission, appointed by then-Mayor Greg Lashutka.
She was appointed to Columbus City Council in January of 2007, and then popularly elected by the citizens of Columbus in November of the same year. Since her initial election, Columbus City Council Member was reelected by the voters three more times, being the top vote-getter in each election.
Council Member Tyson’s signature achievements are wide ranging, and have benefitted all parts of our community. Most recently, Tyson established the 25-member Commission on Black Girls to study and assess the quality of life of Black girls, 11-22, in Central Ohio. The Commission’s recommendations are currently being used by the City to impact and improve the quality of life for Black girls in Columbus and Central Ohio.
Priscilla R. Tyson has been a community advocate for Columbus at the federal, state, and international level. Ms. Tyson served on the board of the Greater Columbus Arts Council for 14 years. Currently, Tyson is a member of the Columbus Chapter of The Links, Inc, The Columbus, Ohio Section of The National Council of Negro Women, Inc, and The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Central Ohio Chapter. Throughout her career, she has been honored with numerous awards, from an exhaustive list of local, national, and international organizations.

Prior to joining WJUC Hogan served was a Activities Therapist for 13 years with the Ohio Department of Youth Services where he developed and implemented programs in art, music, sports and education. Hogan specialized in working with youth who were incarcerated as well as youth with substance abuse.
When not working Hogan enjoys spending time with his family, (especially his Dad), travelling, bowling, golfing, volunteering with the city of Toledo, OH and watching his daughter compete in golf.

Bill then joined Salem Radio Seattle in October of 2002 as their Director of Sales, where he worked until July 2005. River Radio Ministries brought Bill back to Columbus in September of 2008, where he has remained as the Chief Sales Officer. For over 40 years Bishop Timothy Joseph Clarke has been the visionary leader and Senior Pastor of First Church of God in Columbus, OH, where under his dynamic and prophetic leadership, First Church has become a spiritual beacon at the local and national level. He is a faithful pastor, anointed teacher, author and an articulate and prolific preacher. Called to the ministry in January 1974, Bishop Clarke served as the Associate Minister at First Church of God, in his hometown of Far Rockaway, New York, under his mentor, the late Dr. James E. Cray. Bishop Clarke began his pastorate at York Avenue Church of God (Warren, OH) in November 1977 and faithfully served the congregation for four years. Bishop Clarke became the Senior Pastor of First Church of God in February 1982 after receiving the call in November 1981. His consecration to the office of Bishop transpired in September of 2001.
Bishop Clarke is the founder and Chief Prelate of the Berean Fellowship, an international assembly, partnering with pastors of small to mid -size churches, young pastors, and those new to pastoral ministry. Through the Berean Fellowship, Bishop Clarke equips pastors and leaders with the tools necessary to do effective ministry while offering a place of love, acceptance, and affirmation.
During the 41 years, Bishop Clarke has led First Church of God, he has served in Christian leadership positions at the local and national levels and has been privileged to sit on the board of organizations and associations that have benefitted both people and community. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including induction into the Morehouse College Board of Preachers.
Bishop Clarke’s standard of excellence is apparent in his commitment to not only ministry but also education. Former Ohio State Football Coach Jim Tressel has coached teams to five National Championships four at Youngstown State and he lead the Ohio State Buckeyes to the 2022 National Championship and seven Big Ten Championships.
A native of Northeast Ohio, Tressel graduated from Berea High School in suburban Cleveland in 1971. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1975 and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Akron in 1977. He also holds Honorary Doctoral degrees from YSU in 2001 and Baldwin-Wallace in 2003.
After serving as an Assistant Football Coach at the University of Akron, Miami (OH), Syracuse and Ohio State, Tressel was named YSU Head Football Coach in 1986. In his 15 year tenure, including six as Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, YSU appeared in the playoffs 10 times and won four National Championships. In January 2001, Tressel left YSU to become the Head Football Coach at The Ohio State University. In 10 seasons, he guided the Buckeyes to the 2002 National Championship and seven Big Ten Championships.
After leaving Ohio State, Tressel served as Executive Vice President for Student Success at the University of Akron, and then returned to YSU in 2014 as President.
Kelven Johnson is the Director of the 2023 CampUCan youth camp. CampUCAN is a one-week summer camp experience for young men age 9-15 from urban areas in Ohio. Exciting programs, compassionate leaders, and a retreat setting provide an unforgettable opportunity for campers to encounter the love of God, hear the gospel message, and form life-long relationships.
He is also the founder of Community-U-Can which is a nonprofit organization that focuses on servicing its community through the mediums of education and training. In 2025, Kelven will have obtained his licensing to work with those who are battling mental health issues as mental health is a topic that he is very passionate about. Presently, Kelven is establishing a 10-city tour visiting local recreation centers throughout the state of Ohio to recruit members for youth advocacy and service through the Community-U-Can platform. Rocky Alt is the Director of the Ohio Chapter Director of Team Focus. Team Focus host an annual camp in at Ashland University. The camp is for fatherless boys ages 10-18. Rocky lost his family at a young age and has a true calling to help fatherless young men. Rocky was a standout football and baseball player at Wittenberg University.
Team Focus is an organization designed to provide fatherless young men, ages 10 to 18, with leadership skills, guidance, Godly values and a continual relationship with a mentor. Through teamwork with the families, teachers and counselors, Team Focus offers support in a relaxed, cost-free atmosphere. Since the program started 20 years ago, more than 5,000 fatherless young men have been served throughout the US. Dr. Dixon is a native of Oxford, Mississippi, She is the proud daughter of educators and a raised in a family who valued education. Dr. Talisa Dixon is former Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer of Columbus City Schools. She began her tenure in March 2019 after five years leading the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District in Northeast Ohio.
Dr. Dixon previously spent nine years as an administrator in Columbus City Schools from 2001-10. She served six years combined as the principal at Brookhaven High School and at Columbus Alternative High School.
She began her career in public education first as a social studies teacher and then as an assistant principal in Akron Public Schools. She was the Deputy Superintendent for the Saginaw Public School District in Michigan before accepting the superintendent post in Cleveland Heights-University Heights in 2014.

Ray Miller is the President & Publisher of The Columbus & Dayton African American news journal and a former Ohio State Senator. Mr. Miller is a Life Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the NAACP. In addition, he is an active member of Second Baptist Church located in Columbus, Ohio.
In January of 2011, Mr. Miller founded The Columbus African American news journal. The publication has quickly grown to become the largest, most broadly circulated minority focused print medium in Columbus and Central Ohio. Due to its success, in August of 2017, Miller expanded the news journal to include the city of Dayton, Ohio. The journal is well known for its substantive content and excellent contributing writers who are clearly focused on their mission, which is to educate, inform, and empower the community.
Totally committed to developing the next generation of young leaders, Mr. Miller created the Ray Miller Institute for Change and Leadership at The Ohio State University Department of African American and African Studies and The Progressive Leadership Academy to insure the knowledge and wisdom of selected leaders is passed on to those who will soon succeed them. Admission to the Leadership Academy is in great demand and the curriculum consists of high level presentations, readings, team projects and community service. Collectively, there are 390 graduates of the program.
For 24 years, Miller served as a member of the Ohio General Assembly--16 years in the House of Representatives and eight years as a State Senator. He was a prolific legislator and is well known for being the chief sponsor of legislation which established the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, The Institute for Urban Education at Central State University, the Mental Health Reform Act, first-time State funding for Head Start in the State of Ohio and many other public policy and systemic change initiatives.
During his extensive professional career, Miller has served at the executive level within organized labor, business, higher education and the Federal Government, as a Deputy Special Assistant on the White House Staff of President Jimmy Carter.

Dr. Gene Christy Thomas Harris spent 37 years as a professional educator. She is a true women of great faith who God has used to impact thousands of students, families and fellow educators. She retired from Columbus City Schools in 2013. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Notre Dame and her Masters degree and PhD in Education from the Ohio State University and Ohio University, respectively. Dr. Harris served as classroom teacher, high school principal, supervisor of principals, assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent, state assistant superintendent and for 12 years, superintendent of Columbus City Schools.
Dr. Harris has served on a variety of volunteer boards and advisory committees including Action for Children, United Way of Central Ohio, and the Ohio University Board of Trustees, where she was chair in her final year as trustee. For 39 years, Dr. Harris has been a disciple at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where she has served as high school Sunday school teacher, and Christ Centered Discipleship facilitator. Currently she is a member of the choir, participant in the Woman of Wholeness Ministry, chair of the Scholarship Committee, and vice-chair of the Ministry of Trustees. Also, Dr. Harris is a Group Leader for Bible Study Fellowship, an international Bible study group. Dr. Harris is married to Stanley E. Harris, a retired career banker. Together they have one son, Wade Thomas Harris (wife Belinda), and three precocious grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, and Naomi.
Dr. Davina Hicks continues the powerful legacy of her mom the late Mrs. Deborah A. Jackson an educational pioneer. Mrs. Jackson was the founder of Sonshine Christian Academy in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Hicks currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools at The Sonshine Christian Academy . While Dr. Hicks possesses the credentials of a leader, she is committed to serve the Kingdom of God, at such a time as this.
Dr. Hicks works in the Business Programs department as an Adjunct Professor at Columbus State Community College. Her earned PhD in Business Administration with a Specialization in International Business has prepared her with the skills needed to lead 50-plus faculty and staff persons, over 200 students, and a three-campus PreK through high school organization, along with the exposure to teach adult learners in the college setting to further their effectiveness in the central Ohio area. A faithful parishioner of New Journey Christian Ministries, Dr. Hicks lives her life with a Christ-Centered perspective. A series of firsts define the judicial and professional career of Yvette McGee Brown. She was the first African American woman elected to the Franklin County Common Pleas Court in 1992. She was the founding president of the Center for Child and Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital. And, in January 2011, she became the first African American woman to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court of Ohio. Today, Yvette is the Partner-In-Charge of Diversity, Inclusion, and Advancement at the global law firm Jones Day and a partner in the Business and Tort Litigation practice where she represents clients in complex litigation, corporate and government investigations, and appellate matters.
Yvette graduated from Columbus City Schools and attended Ohio University with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations, followed by her Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. She has honorary degrees from Urbana University, Ohio Dominican University, and Wilberforce University.
Yvette has three children and two grandchildren. She is married to Tony Brown, a retired educator.
Harvey Hook is a visionary, connector, collaborator, community advocate, and builder. His purpose in life is to create opportunities for people and communities to thrive. These qualities contribute to his success as a catalytic leader in founding several leading-edge nonprofit entities and successful programs which remain vibrant today.
Harvey is the Chief Engagement Officer for Vista Village, Inc., an innovative nonprofit in Columbus, Ohio, which serves homeless individuals in a tiny home community setting. Vista Village works with community partners and volunteers, to provide comprehensive wraparound services for men and women, as they transition from homelessness to help, wholeness, employment, and then to independent living in the broader community.
Prior to joining Vista Village, Harvey co-founded Convene Columbus, a collaborative entity of multi-ethnic leaders, to address issues of racial injustice. In 2015, he launched Rela Leadership to equip next generation leaders with best practice servant leadership principles. In 1988, he founded The Gathering/Columbus to offer guidance to business, professional, and government leaders, on moral, spiritual, and leadership decisions, which impact the community. In 1981, following four years as Chaplain of Denver Juvenile Hall, Harvey moved to Columbus as one of three founding members of Central Ohio Youth for Christ, which maintains a vital role in assisting youth in poor and underserved neighborhoods.

Born in Lincoln, Maine, the youngest of three boys, sons of a lumberjack and seamstress, he has lived in New York, Colorado, and Ohio. Harvey has a degree in Psychology, from the State University of New York at Albany, a master’s degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary, has spent seven months of his life loving and being loved by children in the Dominican Republic, and is author of the book, “The Power of an Ordinary Life.” He is married to his wife Rita and together they have two beautiful married daughters, and five awesome grandchildren!
Coach Ted Ginn lead the 2022 Cleveland Glenville Tarblooders football team to the first Cleveland Public School team to win a state championship. He has served as Head Football Coach of the Glenville Tarblooders since 1997. In 2020 Coach Ginn was inducted into the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions.
As a student at Glenville High School, Coach Ginn played the positions of linebacker and center for the team in the 1970’s. He started his career as a volunteer coach from 1976 to 1986. He was hired as an Assistant Coach and eventually assumed the Head Coach position, In 1997, under Coach Ginn’s leadership, the Glenville High School football team became co-champs for the East Senate League. From 1997 to 2009, Coach Ginn led the Glenville Tarblooders to eight consecutive East Senate League wins. In 1999, Glenville became the first Cleveland Municipal School to reach the State Playoffs and made 10 subsequent appearances from 2000 to 2010.
With a strong Christian background and foundation instilled in him by his grandparents as a young boy growing up in Franklinton, Louisiana, Coach Ginn was instrumental in bringing the Fellow ship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to the Glenville High School Football Program. He refers to FCA as the ‘playbook’ and places no time limits on fellowship. “FCA is part of the glue that holds my program together.”
State Senator Hearcel F. Craig currently represents Ohio’s 15th Senate District and holds the position of Assistant Minority Leader. Craig has an extensive background in public service at the state and local levels. Prior to being elected to the Ohio Senate in 2018 and 2022, he served in the Ohio House and on Columbus City Council. Craig serves as the Ranking Member on the Senate Insurance and Veterans and Public Safety Committees. Senator Craig also sits on the Senate Finance; Medicaid; and Rules and Reference Committees. Additionally, Senator Craig serves as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus.
Senator Craig earned a Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Franklin University. He also studied at Ashland Theological Seminary as part of their Master of Divinity program and was a Join Together National Leadership Fellow at Boston University School of Public Health. Senator Craig completed the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) in 2015. He was certified as an NASD Arbitrator in 2007, and proudly served our nation in the United States Army from 1970 – 1972.
Senator Craig and his wife, Linda, are the proud parents of four children, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Craig serves as an Associate Minister at the First Church of God and continues his dedication to Ohioans in his new role as Assistant Minority Leader in the Ohio Senate.

Randal L. Gaddis, I. became the president, CEO and owner of Gaddis & Son, Inc. in the late 90’s when his parents Willie and Vivian Gaddis, the founders, retired. The dream of owning his own things and being in control of his destiny came to fruition in March 1971. Randal is married to Elizabeth (Booker) Gaddis. Their 41 years of marriage have yielded 4 sons who have all worked for the company in some capacity. Randal grew up in the First Church of God, City of Refugee. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Board of Deacons under the pastorate of Bishop Timothy J. Clarke.
Dr. Robert L. Murphy is the CEO/Founder of The Masters Preparatory Academy (MPA), a single gender boarding school designed to meet the social, emotional, cultural, and academic needs of African American young men, grades 7-12. He has held leadership roles in parochial, private, and public schools. Dr. Murphy is married with two children and has been a member of World Harvest Church for 30+ years where he has served as an Elder at the church from 2003 to the present.
Dr. Murphy’s Ed.D in Educational Administration is from Ohio University where his doctoral research was focused on the impact of single gender schools on the social, emotional, and academic progress of low income African American males. He is deeply committed to expanding the educational opportunities for African American males through the creation and expansion of single gender schools and he continues that work today with the development of The Masters Preparatory Academy.
He is the Area Superintendent for Columbus City Schools and previously served as the Interim Director of School Leadership Development. From 1981 to 1985, he served as an Art teacher and coach at Bishop Ready High School. Dr. Murphy was the first African American teacher at The Columbus Academy when it was still an all-boys academy, serving as the Upper School’s ceramics and sculpture instructor.
Other past positions include Columbus City Schools Art Teacher and Coach, assistant principal at Whetstone High School, Director of Christian Education for World Harvest Church, overseeing the operation of the Pre K-grade 12 World Harvest Christian Academy (now known as Harvest Preparatory School) and the two-year World Harvest Bible College (now known as Valor Christian College). He also served as Principal at Africentric and Brookhaven High Schools and as an adjunct professor at Ohio Dominican University.
Gerry Hammond is the founder of Hammond Golf Academy. Gerry is a PGA Teaching Professional who has always felt a call to service. After playing basketball at Ohio University in 1988 he changed directions accepting a golf scholarship to St Augustine University, where he served as team captain, winning several championships and awards. Upon graduation, Gerry played golf professionally competing on numerous tours before joining the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) and reaching the elite ‘Class A’ status.
As a visionary and change agent, Gerry accepted and began his gift of teaching, while focusing on youth and instilling the inherent values of golf, including lessons on honesty, integrity, discipline, academic excellence, teamwork, and service. And for nearly 25 years, he has been a beloved coach and mentor to hundreds of children throughout Ohio, using golf as a tool to open doors, leading to economic, professional and personal success.
Gerry never imagined, however, that his career in golf would lead to an even higher calling, until one night.
“It came in a dream six years ago,” Gerry says “God visited me and told me he wanted me to show His strength on Earth in numbers. In the dream I saw a silhouette of a t-shirt. It was a powerful vision and I felt compelled to carry out His charge.”

In 2012, Scott Mallory felt a burden from the Lord to impact the city of Columbus for Christ. After prayerful consideration and research, Mallory gathered like-minded leaders with the common shared interest of building a Gospel Movement in Columbus, OH. Scott has been the steady force behind organizing “Concerts of Prayer,” “One Night” of worship events, and “Leaders’ Summits” to unify the Body of Christ and bring reconciliation. Scott is the founder of Highland Real Estate Group. After graduating from the United States Military Academy, Scott served in the Army as a Field Artillery Officer. Highland is a commercial and residential real estate firm with interests in development, brokerage, construction management, and advisory services. Scott holds a BS from the United States Military Academy and an MBA from Indiana University.
Mayor Michael B. Coleman was the first African American Mayor of the capital city Columbus, Ohio and served 4 terms. Mayor Coleman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to John H. Coleman, a physician, and Joan Coleman, a criminal victim’s activist. Coleman’s family moved when he was three years old to Toledo, Ohio where his first jobs were working at the corner drug store, Kroger’s supermarket and his father’s barbeque restaurant. He attended St. John’s Jesuit High School in Toledo, Ohio and then went on to receive his B.A. degree in political science from the University of Cincinnati in 1977. Coleman obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1980.
As mayor, Coleman spearheaded the Columbus Downtown Business Plan and Neighborhood Pride, a program designed to engage communities to revitalize their neighborhoods. He also created the after-school program, Capital Kids, in 2001 and the Green Spot program in 2006, to encourage Columbus residents and businesses to protect the environment. Coleman has leveraged incentives to create and retain more than 92,000 jobs in the Columbus area.

Steve Lindsay of the Lindsay Automotive Dealership Group, is a second generation dealer who operates the nation’s 10th largest Honda dealership and the Midwest’s largest Acura dealership in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to Lindsay Honda

Troy has held four pastorates in the State of Ohio. The First Baptist Church, in Oxford, Ohio; the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Sandusky, Ohio; the Second Baptist Church, in Warren, Ohio and the historical Second Baptist Church, in Columbus, Ohio, celebrating 171 years of Christian Service. He has 50 years in ministry and 40 years of pastoring.
Pastor Troy is a strong advocate for education. While in Sandusky, he instituted a Head Start Program, instituted a Pre-School Center at the Second Baptist Church in Warren for children three to six years of age, and established the Columbus Laboratory School for students, Kindergarten through Sixth grade.
Pastor Troy was married to the love of his life Bernice Troy for 75 years and have five sons who continue to build the life long legacy of the Troy name.
Dr. David Forbes, Jr. is a fourth generation Pastor. His father Pastor David Forbes Sr. was one of the founding members of the Civil Rights Movement Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), while a student at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Pastor Forbes talks about the life lessons he learned from his Dad and Mom about caring for people and helping to make a change in their lives.

Clark Kellogg talks about his journey from being a high school, college and NBA player has helped him to build a life long legacy in sports.
Clark was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in East Cleveland, Ohio. His father, Clark Sr., was a police officer in the Cleveland area. His mother was a homemaker, who the younger Clark called the ‘anchor’ of the family because of his father’s demanding work schedule. Unfortunately Clark’s mother passed away in 1994. Clark recalled telling his mother about how he wanted to become a basketball player. He recalled his mother saying, ‘If you are going to be a basketball star, you better put a sentence together on television.” Sure enough, Kellogg made sure that he did not disappoint his mother. This piece of advice has served him very well during his time as a broadcaster.
Although his playing career didn’t last long, Kellogg continued to make basketball his life. His knowledge of the game ended up being one of his best assets. Clark has been a CBS NCAA basketball color analyst for over 20 years. He is also one of the familiar voices for those who play the NBA 2k games (starring alongside another legendary commentator known as Kevin Harlan).
During his time with CBS, Kellogg made some special quotes to describe the game, "squeeze the orange", ‘spurtability,’ which describes a team scoring points in rapid succession "to get to the dogs you have to run through the park", 'statsheet stuffer" and many others.
Faith has been the foundation of his life. Clark credits Christ as his ‘all and driver of his life”. His favorite quote from The Bible matches the advice he was given as a young child: ‘Do unto others as you have them do unto you.’ He credited his parents for sharing that earlier in his life.
