Human Design is endlessly fascinating and interesting to learn about. But it's also very useful as a tool in parenting.
In today's episode I'm discussing 3 ways to use Human Design as a support in your parenting. Briefly, Human Design can:
I invite you to book a free Discovery Call with me. Bring to the call a conflict, challenge or question about your child, and I'll give you a Mini-Assessment of the issues that might underlie your challenge. Book a free call HERE.
We've been talking about the "6 Best Ways to Support Your Child as They Make Their Own Way." I consider today's way, the 6th way, the most important.
When you think of supporting your child the focus is always on your child - you ask yourself, 'what can I do for my child?' or 'how can I ensure my child grows up well?'
To best support your child, though, you have to start with yourself. You want to give to your child, but it's important to remember that what you give has to be the overflow from your full cup. If your cup of what you need to be your best self isn't full, then you're essentially giving what you don't have.
The trick is to fill your cup with what you need. Each mom's needs are different, based on their energy, their body, their spirit, their nature. So you may not need what your friend thinks you need, or what your friend needs.
What do you need? And how can you get it?
How does it affect your child when you DO get what you need - and when you don't?

When an expert like a teacher or a doctor or coach tells you there is something 'wrong' with your child, it can feel very emotional - and not in a good way. Your first reaction might be to get defensive or to feel inadequate as a parent.
But you know your child in a million ways that this expert doesn't. If you're able to ask questions to gain information, you'll be better equipped to work with the expert to solve a problem.

Welcome to the Parenting With Heart by Human Design Podcast! In today's episode, we continue to explore the 6 Best Ways to Support Your Child as They Make their Own Way.
Way #4 is to Not Make Your Child's Happiness Your Goal. Parents love for their children to be happy, but I would suggest that you make as your goal: Teaching Your Child About Emotions.
Children don't realize that they have choices about what to do when they feel negative emotions. They may respond with aggression or mean words when they're unhappy, disappointed, or angry. You can help them identify their emotions and understand that they can make a choice about what to do with their emotion. This will help them in all their relationships as they grow up. What a gift this is!
I've created a Worksheet so you can identify emotions your child is having trouble with, and where they need support in responding in better ways than they currently do. You can request that Free Worksheet here.
Would you like an free assessment of a challenge you're having with your child, or an issue you need support in resolving with them? Schedule a Free call here, we'll chat about the problem, and I'll give you a Mini-Assessment of what the underlying issues may be. Then we can talk about how I could support you in resolving the issues, or explore ways you can gain support in other ways. Schedule a free Discovery Call here, and let's talk!
We're continuing the series on, "The 6 Best Ways to Support Your Child," with the 3rd Way: Recognize Your Fears.
Moms have many fears about their children, many of which are reasonable. You're afraid they won't be safe in a new activity, or healthy, in a new environment. But sometimes you're not consciously aware of the fears you hold for your child, especially in a stressful situation.
When your child isn't playing well with friends, or getting into trouble at school, or fighting with siblings you may react with emotion - who wouldn't? But when you act out of emotion, you're not able to access your good parenting skills. Your unconscious fears may cause you to react by trying to stop or fix the behavior, but not in a way that will be effective. You can only use your good parenting skills when you're calm, observant, and compassionate.
Recognize that you have unconscious fears and examine them.
Here's a link to a worksheet that you can use to examine some of your own fears for your child. It's free, and may help you uncover a fear you didn't know you had.
I also invite you to bring a behavior problem or challenge with your child to a Free call with me. I'll give you a Mini-assessment of the issues that might be underlying the challenge and we can talk about how I can support you or point you to some support options. Mom Guilt. All moms have guilt over their children, families, responsibilities... But does guilt make you a better mom? Is it even appropriate? In this episode I suggest that Letting Go of Guilt is the Second of the "6 Best Ways to Support Your Child as They Make Their Own Way" Guilt is only appropriate when you've done something wrong and hurt someone. Everything else is just story, and stories aren't facts. You can't act in your highest good or for the highest good of anyone else if you're feeling guilt for a story that isn't truth. If you have guilt, ask yourself if you've actually done something wrong. If you haven't, then the guilt is a result of believing a story - that often isn't true. I've created a worksheet to help you identify instances where you've felt guilt recently. Completing it will help you see whether your guilt is appropriate or not. If it isn't, you can let go of it! Request the Worksheet, "When Do I Feel Guilty?" here. I'm offering a free Mini-Assessment of a challenge or situation you're experiencing with your child. Book a free Discovery Call, present the situation and I'll offer a brief assessment of possible underlying issues. Then I'll share how I can support you, or how you can get the support you need. When you ask a mom what she most wants for her child, you'll most likely get an answer like, 'I want them to be happy" or "I want them to do well and have lots of friends." You so deeply desire the best for your child. But how do you support your child in becoming happy, healthy, and having a good life? How can you support them without also trying to fix their problems and struggles? Today is the beginning of a 6-part series in how to support your child as they travel their own unique path in life - whether they have an easy road, or a more challenging one. First you'll consider that you can support them without trying to fix things that are challenging for them. Accepting that you can't fix their challenges is the FIRST of the 6 Best Ways to Support Your Child as They Make Their Own Way You can begin exploring how you can best support your unique child in the way that's best for them by downloading the free PDF: "Where My Child Struggles." When your children have BIG feelings it's natural to want to help them manage their feelings. But before you can teach them to manage, you have to model acceptance of the feeling. That can be hard, when you want them to get past the feeling more quickly than they're able. Human Design helps you understand the feelings your child is experiencing, and also guides you in which emotions to expect more often, based on your child's Type.
