Anthony concluded our series Summer in the Psalms. We looked at the praise hymn and wisdom psalm of David—Psalm 34. We learned that we tend to praise what we value and what we have experienced. We praise God and hold God in high regard (fear of the LORD) as we come to value Him more. We come to value Him more as we experience (taste and see) His goodness and His deliverance in our lives.
Anthony continues the series, Summer in the Psalms, looking at Psalm 32. Psalm 32 is a confession Psalm of David. Anthony taught about Reality (this thing we call sin), Repentance (the remedy), Restoration (what God does), and Response (our worship). We explored how nothing hidden is every healed. Confession allows us to experience the healing of our souls as we expose our vulnerable places to the God who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and forgives iniquity, rebellion and sin.
Anthony continues our series in Book 1 of the Psalms looking at Psalm 27. When trouble comes, David models a pattern of Seeking the LORD, Asking boldly, Worshiping confidently, and Waiting courageously.
Pastor Anthony continues our series, Summer in the Psalms. Psalm 19 teaches us that God is revealed through the magnificent beauty of creation and through the infinite wisdom of the Scriptures. Revelation leads us to reflection. Do our hearts and our words align with creation and Scripture as they point to and glorify God?
Pastor Anthony teaches on Psalm 6, a psalm of lament. Lament psalms invite us to take our grief, our frustrations, our doubts, our sin--all of who we are--to God in prayer. We can approach God with confidence on the basis of our relationship with God and the goodness of His character.
Anthony introduces the series looking at Book I of Psalms. Psalms 1 teaches us that wisdom pursues righteousness, our choices shape us, and the soil we are rooted in matters. Following God's righteous wisdom will allow us to thrive and bear fruit like a tree planted by life-giving streams of water.
Guest Speaker, Pastor Mike Cottrell, teaches on the parable of the lost coin, lost sheep, and prodigal sons. The Pharisees complained that Jesus associated with the tax collectors and "sinners." Their labels excluded them. Jesus had something to say about their excluding others based on their labels.
Pastor Anthony concludes the Acts series by looking at the brief story of Tabitha in Acts 9:36-43. God builds His Church through ordinary disciples living out the way of Jesus in their ordinary lives bearing witness to the extraordinary hope of Resurrection.
God builds his church by breaking down the dividing walls of hostility that exists between groups and people. Pastor Anthony looks at how God took Peter on a journey to overcome his bias and prejudice towards Gentiles. In Acts 10, Peter discovers that God's Good News about Messiah Jesus is for the Gentiles too.
Pastor Anthony continues the series looking at key themes in Acts. He teaches on the theme of signs and wonders. God builds his church through the Spirit empowering and moving in and through Jesus communities to do the unexplainable, but undeniable.
Pastor Anthony teaches on Acts 1:14, 2:1-4. The Holy Spirit is poured out on believers who are united in prayer, surrendered to Jesus, and aware of God's active presence all around them. How can we participate in the work the Spirit is doing in our day? What would it look like for us to keep Jesus as our unifying focus, pray more and more as a way of life, and live more surrendered and more aware of the Spirit?
Pastor Anthony kicks off our new series, Acts: How God Builds His Church. We look at Acts 1:1-9 and discover that Jesus calls his disciples to wait for the promise of the Spirit. We are not to do in our own power what God has promised to do by his Spirit's power. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to bear witness to Resurrection Hope!
Pastor Anthony reflects on the heaviness of local and national events by looking to the words of the prophet Habakkuk. From Habakkuk, we learn that God is not indifferent to injustice but will in fact make all things right. The righteous live faithfully in the meantime, cultivating the sort of environments that foster hope and healing.
Guest speaker Matt Tracy finishes up our resurrection stories series as we look at Jesus meeting Peter in his failure. How would you expect Jesus to respond to a disciple who denies him? Breakfast on the beach?
Anthony shares about how Resurrection Hope in the person of Jesus meets the disciple Thomas in his doubts about the resurrection (John 20:24-29). Maybe you have your own doubts but Jesus has a way of meeting people in their doubts.
Pastor Anthony teaches on Luke 24:13-35. Jesus meets two disciples who are overcome with despair and disappointment on the road to Emmaus. Jesus still likes to meet people today who are walking away from their last heartbreaking letdown. He meets us in our despair.
Pastor Zach unpacks Psalm 143 as we discover what it means to have a soul that thirsts for God.
"Why do you seek the living among the dead?" This is the question the women at the tomb were confronted with when they went to the tomb. But this question is still relevant today. We all look for life in things that are dead. Only one person can truly bring us life. His name is Jesus.
Jesus enters Jerusalem during the Passover Festival. The powder keg of nationalistic fervor is just waiting to explode. But Jesus doesn’t come in on a war horse. Rather, he comes in on a humble donkey. Then, instead of rousing the people up against Rome, Jesus confronts the corruption of the Temple. What is Jesus doing? What are his actings teaching us?
Our culture is immersed in consumerism, materialism, and the pursuit of more. Jesus calls us to trust in the goodness of God for life is about more than the abundance of possessions and what we treasure owns our hearts.

This week we see that Jesus touched a man with leprosy, declared forgiveness to a paralyzed man, and hung out with tax collectors and sinners. His message is clear: I came for those who are humble enough to realize they need rescue, and I am came to confront the judgmental religiosity that excluded these people in the first place.
The Messiah was expected to be a Revolutionary. The Jewish people expected the Messiah to lead a revolution against their enemies and liberate Israel thereby re-establishing the Kingdom of Israel.
Jesus was a revolutionary, but in an entirely different sense. Jesus taught about an upside down Kingdom where the last will be first and the first last; where love and forgiveness of our enemies is the way to victory rather than revenge and domination; where love and relationship defined inclusion not ritual laws and social boundaries; and where death on the cross was the supreme revelation of God’s glory not a triumphal victory over the Romans.
From the Sunday after Ash Wednesday through Easter, we will walk through the Gospel of Luke following this Revolutionary.

Jesus is not ashamed to be associated with you. He’s not ashamed of your past. He’s not embarrassed to be seen with you. Jesus is comfortable with being associated with “tax collectors and drunkards and sinners.”

No one expected the Messiah to come in the way that he did. In the same way, God wants to enter into your story in unexpected ways. He is not a distant, impersonal force. He is a relational being, and he wants to make a home in your life.
What does this teach us about the heart of God?
As we approach Thanksgiving Pastor Anthony unpacks Psalm 136 and what our true motivation is for giving thanks to God.
The relationship that we have with ourselves is complicated. Should we have high self esteem? Or should we have low self esteem? In Paul's letter to the corinthians he says neither is a good solution. We don't have to think more of ourselves, or think less of ourselves, rather we can think of ourselves less. And this is Gospel Humility, because of Jesus we can trust his work on the cross and the verdict he received for us. We are then free to stop connecting everything in life to us and start living a life free from self for the sake of others and God's glory.
So much has changed over the past couple of years. And while the future is unknown, Pastor Anthony shares a foundational building block for him and our church as we move forward in discovering God's future for us.
