Welcome to the "how to be a leader" podcast for new and emerging leaders, managers, and supervisors.

We all want to be successful leaders at work and home. And hopefully you've had a great amount of success in your career and life so far. Whether you feel like a well rounded leader, or if you're facing some tough challenges, this podcast is here to help.

The struggle for many new and emerging leaders is trying to understand exactly what a successful leader should be thinking and doing. It can feel overwhelming, vague, or complicated. This lack of clarity can often lead to frustration, inconsistent results, and even struggles with stress and mental health.

The goal of Welcome to Leadership is to share conversations that give you clarity around what to consider when improving your leadership and management skills. Along with my 30 years of real-world leadership experience, education, and curated research, you'll hear from some of the best leaders on the planet. Leverage the success of CEO's, entrepreneurs, athletes, coaches, and more. We learn the most when we're willing to listen and learn from those who have been in the trenches, and bring innovation and breakthrough to industries and society.

My hope is that you'll gain confidence and clarity about the what, why, and how of becoming the leader who creates a culture of clarity, humanity, and outstanding high performance in your workplace and life.

Leaders - before you judge someone, remember this -- When we build a culture where we're providing support, as opposed to providing judgment, that's when our organizations change. That's how we get better performance, that's when we get better connection and cohesion within our organizations, and that's when we feel better about ourselves. I'm also going to admit something. Sometimes the things that I see or hear people do can be frustrating. I'm sure you've been there right? Whether you're a leader, manager, or supervisor in an organization, or you're just living your life, I'm sure there are times when you get irritated by things that people do around you and begin passing judgement. How do we stop doing that? Because we DO need to stop doing that. Well, that's what I'm going to cover and try to explain today to help you reduce your tendency to judge others, have more empathy, and be able to support people who need it.

If you want More Confidence–Here's 2 Unexpected Secrets I share in this episode with two real life examples from personal experience. As leaders, one of the simplest (but not easiest) methods to become more confident is to adopt the mindset of absolute accountability and responsibility. Responsibility refers to the obligation to perform the task or comply with a rule; accountability implies answerability for the outcome of the task or process. When you decide that phrases like "it's not fair", "it's not my fault", "I wasn't there", or "it wasn't my intent"are no longer a part of your vocabulary, I can promise you that your confidence will increase, and others will follow your example.
