Mike and Cade discuss questions and topics that relate to their lives as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including those regarding doctrine, faith, Christ-like discipleship, and much more.
Halloween may technically have an origin in a Christian celebration or holiday, but does it still resemble anything close to that origin? Should Christians celebrate it today? Is there any problem with the demonic and morbid decorations that are common even among Christians during this holiday? We discuss this and more during this episode. We also discuss our thoughts on the crucifix and cross, subjects of mixed feelings among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lastly, we discuss what we know of the spirit world and whether it conforms to themes found in near-death experiences we’ve read.

The title is click-baity but those are the topics for today. What are we to interpret about Jesus’s words in Matthew 19:29 where he says those who forsake family “shall receive an hundredfold”? We also discuss the question of whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is using its funds in the most Christlike way. Lastly, we talk about whether there is automatic salvation in the case of those without the law. Do they get it for free? If so, wouldn’t the world be better off not having the law so everyone would be saved?

If the doctrine of eternal marriages and families is as important as we treat it in the latter-day church, why isn’t it found in the Bible? And, further, why does it appear that Christ teaches against it?
Can the church, as some believe, become fallen and apostate? Could the Brethren be leading us astray led by corrupt and sinful motives?

Not too long ago, the Church changed from practicing home teaching to ministering. Is this change working? What are the challenges with it? How can it be effective? And what are the roles of women in the church today? Speaking of women, what about Paul’s words on saying women should wear head coverings and keep silent in the church? Is this valid today? Why don’t we follow these in the church?

Did Christ create humans in His image even though he was a spirit at the time of Adam and Eve’s creation? You may think you know the answer and have some quotes to back it up but we’ll dig up some challenges and details behind this question. Deutro-Isaiah chapters existing in the Book of Mormon along with other seemingly anachronistic scriptures certainly present a challenge for faithful, believing members who consider the Book of Mormon a historically accurate book brought forth by the hand of God. We’ll be discussing this as well. And, lastly, are you spiritually dead? What if you’ve been baptized? Still spiritually dead? Wait, can anyone be spiritually alive in this fallen world? Listen in to hear our thoughts on this topic.

We don’t pull punches on this podcast and certainly don’t in this episode. This week we discuss the much controversial dark/light skin controversy of the Book of Mormon and whether skin tone descriptions in the Book of Mormon are literal or figurative and whether it matters. Also, more generally, we discuss the question of whether the Book of Mormon is racist.
We also have a couple questions regarding the mysterious appearances and supposed manifestations of the Holy Ghost. Listen in to hear our thoughts and, as always, submit your questions and comments to us with this link.

It seems that God has designed events throughout the history contained in scriptures to point to or foreshadow Christ’s life and teachings. How far does this design go? Was every miracle and word precisely designed to align to some grand manifestation of design that all ties together?
In this episode we discuss this idea as well as two other questions regarding revelation and prophets.

We also discuss whether a sinner who believes in Jesus is more likely to end up in heaven than an unbelieving, but very good, person. We also discuss morality—where did it come from where did it go Cotton-eyed Joe? Lastly, we talk about the demons, witches, and the dark arts and just how real they are.

With Roe vs. Wade overturned last week, abortion is a hot topic. We talk about the LDS Church’s official stance and whether that allows for any members to be pro-choice. It’s apparent that the LDS Church supports pro-life values and encourages members to promote such values to preserve the sanctity of human life. Still, some members may hold differing political views, which we discuss. We also talk about whether children can commit sin but are simply not held accountable for such actions or whether they are literally incapable of committing sinful actions. Lastly, we discuss what it means to gather Israel. Who’s Israel, why do they need to be gathered, and is this literal or symbolic?
