In the 10th episode of CEENERGYTALKS, we talk about the proposed ban on Russian oil and the response from Central and Eastern Europe. Also, all the news regarding the diversification of supplies. We will also focus on the nuclear industry nd what is the fate of Russian nuclear power plants. But all of this focus on energy security must not make us forget the second aspect of the so-called energy trilemma: sustainability. And the 'Fit for 55' launched by the Commission in 2021 is still more than valid. So, to talk about the impact of the package on the investors and how to transform its goals into reality for those hard to abate industries, especially the chemical one, our special guest of today is Thomas Narbeshuber, the Vice President of BASF Central & South-East Europe.
This week, natural gas supplies from Russia to Poland under the Yamal contract have been suspended. That’s why energy security is important now more than ever. And to discuss this topic, and especially, where we can expect more natural gas flows coming from and what the role of the United States is, our special guest of today is Paul Sullivan, Senior Vice President, for Global LNG & FLNG at Worley and Strategic Governing Body Co-Chair at Gastech.
The race to diversify our energy supply continues. In this eighth episode of CEENERGYTALKS, we will mention the decision of Estonia and Finland to jointly lease a floating terminal for LNG, while Poland and Lithuania are discussing opportunities for energy cooperation. Also, Serbia is looking at gas diversification. We will also mention the completion of a new high-voltage line in Ukraine, despite the ongoing war. And to never forget the fight against climate change, five European associations developed a set of technical and policy recommendations to foster the regulation of the methane emissions reduction in the energy sector.
In this seventh episode of CEENERGYTALKS, we focus on the need of ensuring the security of supply in Europe, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We will mention the resolution passed by the European Parliament calling for an immediate full embargo on Russian imports of oil, coal, nuclear fuel and gas. Which echoes the interview we made this week with Karol Galek, Secretary of State at the Slovak Ministry of Economy. We will also talk about how companies from Central and Eastern Europe are guaranteeing the security of supply and new investments in renewables in Poland and in Estonia.
In the sixth episode of CEENERGYTALKS, we will talk about new actions taken by the European Union and by some countries from Central and Eastern Europe to reduce their dependency on Russian energy sources. And we will go back to hydrogen as the past week has seen some interesting developments. To discuss hydrogen in more detail and the EU Gas Market Decarbonisation package our special guest today is Pál Ságvári, Vice President for the international affairs of the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority.
In the fifth episode of CEENERGYTALKS, we are focusing on how countries worldwide are still trying to adapt to the new energy challenges posed by the war in Ukraine and the global plans to reduce dependency on Russian gas (via LNG imports or higher renewable capacity installed). Also, we are talking about agriculture, as it is not only about energy diversification: Europe must also enhance the diversity of food supplies.
The European Union adopted a fourth package of restrictive measures against Russia. So today we will focus once more on what does it mean for Europe and what is the role played by renewables and other sources, like hydrogen and biomethane.
