It also makes the liposuction process less intensive for the patient’s body and can reduce recovery time.
Once the tumescent fluid has taken effect, Dr. Davoudi makes small incisions in the skin near the pockets of fat. Through these incisions, he inserts a narrow tube called a cannula to break up the fat and remove it using suction. He can remove precise amounts of fat cells from particular parts of the treatment area to provide natural-looking contours that accentuate your figure.
Candidates for liposuction are men and women who have persistent fatty pockets but who are otherwise in good health. It is not a weight loss solution, and you should be close to your target weight before considering the surgery. You should also have healthy and elastic skin, otherwise you may need to receive an additional body contouring procedure to remove resultant excess and sagging skin. In a complete tummy tuck surgery, Dr. Davoudi makes an incision from hip bone to hip bone along the lower pubic area so the resulting scar is hidden by bathing suits or undergarments. He then lifts the loose skin off the abdominal wall, then tightens the underlying rectus muscles, which give the abdomen strength. He pulls the skin down and removes excess skin. Dr. Davoudi disconnects the umbilicus or “belly button” from the abdomen, reconstructs it, and reattaches it after removing loose skin.
Mini Tummy Tuck
A partial or mini tummy tuck abdominoplasty is a skin-only tuck and is also an option for patients who want a less extensive procedure. No muscle plication is performed with these options. During mini abdominoplasty, Dr. Davoudi makes an incision that generally spans only the width of the pubic area and is similar to the incision associated with Cesarean delivery.
The best candidates for an abdominoplasty procedure are healthy people who have stubborn fatty pockets -fat deposits in the abdominal area that they would like eliminated to help change their appearance. A tummy tuck is not appropriate for people with serious health conditions or overweight or obese people who want to lose weight. Abdominoplasty is not a weight-loss surgery, so patients should have a BMI of 30 or below, as the risk of blood clots increases for those with a higher BMI. Am I Going To Bruise After Rhinoplasty Surgery
Hi, this is Dr. Shvidler from The Seattle Facial Plastic Surgery Center. Today I'm going to answer one of the most frequently asked questions. Am I going to bruise a lot after a rhinoplasty and what kind of things can I do to reduce the chance of bleeding and bruising after surgery? Well, first of all it is important that you have optimal health before you endeavor in rhinoplasty surgery. Got to make sure your blood pressure is under good control and that you're not taking any supplements or medications that thin your blood. So, make sure you stop taking aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, any herbal supplements, and aspirin. Second, you can take some supplements before surgery to include arnica montana or bromelain as well as vitamin K to reduce your chances of bleeding and bruising after surgery. Third, we give you a medication called tranexemic acid during the surgery both intravenously and with an injection and some vasoactive substances like epinephrine to also vasoconstrict the vessels and reduce the bleeding. Trinexamic has acid has been shown to reduce postoperative bleeding and bruising and it's very safe to use in surgery without significantly increased risk of thrombomolic events such as stroke. There's been multiple studies that showed its effectiveness and minimal risk. Afterwards you can also take supplements such as arnica montana as well as bromelain which is a extract from pineapple that also have been shown to reduce bruising and swelling. So if you follow those guidelines your chance of bruising and bleeding is pretty minimal. So, I would say half of our patients bruise a little bit and some of our patients don't have any bruising at all as evidenced in our Instagram rhinoplasty reveal videos. Hope this helps

When Can I Resume Drinking Alcohol After Surgery
Hi, this is Dr. Joseph Shvidler from seattlefacial.com. I'm here to answer one of the most frequently asked questions that we get asked in our clinic. When can I resume consuming alcohol after surgery? Well, there's no clear-cut evidence on when you can restart taking alcohol. But here's in my humble opinion, these are the best practices. You want to hold off for about one to two weeks after surgery. And here's the reason why. First of all, you may be taking some pain medications afterwards that may interfere with the alcohol and may cause some side effects. Secondly, your body has to heal and recalibrate. Um, alcohol is known to reduce wound healing and reduce platelet function. And third of all, you may be taking some other chronic illness medications that also have to be resumed and recalibrate in your system. So my best advice is to hold off alcohol for one to two weeks after surgery

All human males naturally have breast tissue, though it is typically minimal and not easily seen or felt. In some adolescent boys and men, this breast tissue behind the nipple and areola may begin to grow, resulting in a noticeable swelling known as gynecomastia. I'm Dr. William Portuese from Seattle. Today we're going to talk about revision rhinoplasty. A revision rhinoplasty involves another procedure performed on the nose, for patients who've had a previous rhinoplasty in the past. They're much more difficult and much more complicated because of the fact that there's been previous changes to the normal anatomy, and scar tissue formation in the nose from the previous procedure. A good candidate for a revision rhinoplasty is someone who has realistic expectations about what we can accomplish. There are things we can accomplish, there are things we cannot accomplish. For example, if there's a small indentation in the upper lateral cartilages, and there's plenty of cartilage left on the inside of the nose, we can harvest a small piece of cartilage and put a little spreader graft in that area to build that little dent or that depression up. Another good example would be somebody who maybe has a residual bump on the bridge of their nose, and we can file that down, or somebody who has, their nose is too scooped out, too much cartilage has been taken away, we can come back in and add an additional cartilage graft in that area, usually taken from the inside of the nose. But if there's been a cartilage-depleted nose from prior surgery, then we may have to use a piece of ear cartilage to reconstruct the nose. I would not recommend revision rhinoplasty in someone who has unrealistic expectations. There is no perfect nose. If you want a perfect nose, there's no reason to undergo this type of procedure. There's improvements, but nope, there is not a perfect nose.

Rhinoplasty - Straightening a Crooked Nose - RecoveryAfter a rhinoplasty surgery for the crooked nose the cast is applied across the bridge of the nose while they're still awaking from the anesthetic the cast itself stays on the bridge of the nose for about a week then it takes you know several months for most of the swelling to subside it can take two to three four months for most of the swelling to subside and go down the visible bruising and swelling lasts approximately two weeks after the surgery and then we ask patients to refrain from any exercise or contact sports for several weeks after the procedure when i take the cast off the first thing the patients notice is their nose is straight and they're usually very very happy even though it's swollen you can see the new straight bridge line.

Rhinoplasty - How to Widen a Narrow NoseIm Dr William Portuese based in Seattle Washington Im a facial plastic surgeon specializing in rhinoplasty and today we're going to be talking about widening a very narrow nose first of all if they have a hump we have to shave the hump down that automatically widens the nose but if they need additional widening we make some little tiny cuts in the nasal bones and we place two little cartilaginous spreader grafts in the upper lateral cartilages and up in those nasal bones and open up the nasal bones a little bit and they're held open with those cartilage grafts the cartilage grafts are harvested from inside the patient's nose so it's their own tissue it's not a foreign body or anything and that ends up holding the nasal bones in a more open and wider position so that the dorsal aesthetic lines look much better rather than this pinched nose we occasionally see

Rhinoplasty - Removing The Dorsal HumpPatients with a large dorsal hump tend to be very self-conscious about that hump from the side profile and if their nose is crooked they always are turning their head towards the camera at a tangential angle so that their nose looks good without shadow effects. Rhinoplasty Recovery
At one week after the surgery the cast is removed patients can see their new bridge line but the tip of the nose is typically very swollen and so the tip itself takes a long time for the swelling to subside but typically visible bruising and swelling is two weeks about 70 percent of the swelling has subsided at a month after the procedure and about 90 percent has subsided about three months after the rhinoplasty procedure and then full healing takes a year

A crooked nose is cosmetically straightened with a rhinoplasty procedure. Rhinoplasty is cosmetic. If there's simply a breathing problem on the inside of the nose way in the back of the nose and patients are having difficulty breathing out of one side or the other that can be what's called a deviated septum. The deviated septum is treated with a septoplasty if patients have failed medical management and a septoplasty is done on the inside of the nose to remove a twisted or blocking piece of cartilage or bone that's blocking air flow through the nose - so that's done only for air flow dynamics improvement. Septoplasty is only for air flow improvement and a rhinoplasty is to straighten the crooked nose both surgeries can be performed together under one anesthetic with one recovery period. Rhinoplasty - How to Straighten a Crooked Nose
The crooked nose itself is usually there's three components if you will to the nose first you have the on the top of the nose is the nasal bones that's what gets fractured the nasal bones become fractured and displaced and we have to reset those in a more straighter and narrower position with osteotomies placed in those nasal bones in the mid portion of the nose that's more of a flexible cartilage called the upper lateral cartilages and when you have a crooked nose usually one side is concave and the other one is convex so we'll have to add a spreader graft underneath the concave upper lateral cartilage to straighten the mid portion if the nasal tip cartilages are crooked and asymmetric then sometimes what we'll do is we'll take if one side's a little higher we'll take a little cartilage off of one side and add that cartilage to the lower side to balance out the nasal tip cartilages themselves.

Shaving Down the Dorsal Hump
A surgical nose surgery is frequently chosen to remove the dorsal hump.
The majority of dorsal humps are made up of roughly two thirds cartilage and one third bone, however this can vary considerably depending on a person's morphology.
To get rid of the hump, it needs to be reduced in size.
In order to correct the open roof (flat-top) nasal deformity caused by the removal of the hump, osteotomies must be performed in the nasal bones.
The most frequent justification for nasal contouring is the dorsal hump.
A rhinoplasty, also known as a "nose job," is a cosmetic plastic surgery technique used to reshape the nose and improve other facial features.
In our medical practice, it is the most frequently carried out procedure.
Our board-certified facial plastic surgeon aims to create a very natural appearance by balancing the new nose with the other facial features and the components of the face as a whole.
The majority of plastic surgeons concur that many undesired characteristics can be altered.
A dorsal hump (bump) can be removed, a large, boxy nasal tip can be refined, and a crooked, possibly fractured, nasal tip can be narrowed if it is too wide.
Functional breathing issues can be treated concurrently with cosmetic surgery if they exist.
The goal of revision rhinoplasty is to further enhance the nose's aesthetics by performing a second surgery on the nasal anatomy and structure.
Along with the skin soft tissue envelope and nasal septum, the nose is made up of 2 nasal bones, 2 upper lateral cartilages, and 2 lower lateral cartilages.
Making the necessary adjustments to the nose during a revision rhinoplasty results in a very natural-looking outcome for the patient.
Revision
Due to the presence of scar tissue and previous changes to the architecture of the nose, rhinoplasty is far more difficult than a primary rhinoplasty.
The surgeon frequently does not notice those modifications until the treatment is carried out.
Before placing this patient under general anesthesia and giving them a surgical plan, skilled rhinoplasty surgeons typically have one in place.
Patients who need to have one or both of their nasal bones that have strayed outward after a previous procedure straightened or narrowed using osteotomies may have a revision rhinoplasty.
A slight dorsal hump that some individuals still have can be reduced with a rasp.
The most frequent irregularity after a primary rhinoplasty treatment, particularly in patients with thin skin, is the inconsistencies across the bridge line, which can be made of either cartilage or bone.
Spreader grafts are put under the concave upper lateral cartilage in patients with an inverted V deformity or concave upper lateral cartilages in the middle of the nose.
For patients who have an inverted V deformity or who merely have a crooked nose, spreader grafts may need to be applied to both sides of the nose.
After a rhinoplasty treatment, the nasal tip cartilages may be asymmetric, hence cartilage grafting procedures are used either as an onlay graft or sutured onto the tip cartilages.
With suture procedures applied to the lower lateral cartilages of the nose tip, which decrease the breadth of the tip, a residually bulbous nasal tip is minimized.
The nose's tip has thick skin and a lot of scar tissue, which prevents the tip's breadth from being significantly reduced.
An alar rim graft is done on individuals who have alar rim collapse to correct the anatomy there and stop the nasal rim from collapsing during inspiration.
A hanging columella is another obvious indication that one has undergone rhinoplasty.
A columella that hangs down makes the nose appear "bottom heavy."
Incisions must be made on either side of the interior portion of the nose, and the extra cartilage and skin in that region must be removed, in order to decrease a hanging columella.
In addition, depending on where the skin and cartilage are removed, the tip of the nose can be twisted either upwards or downwards.
When broad nostrils remain after a primary rhinoplasty, an alar-plasty is done.
A wedge of skin at the base of the nostrils is removed during an alar-plasty in order to narrow them.

Closed Rhinoplasty Approach
The approach Dr. William Portuese takes for rhinoplasty or nose surgery is using a closed approach, meaning he does not make an incision outside of the nose to the internal work. He is an expert in this technique and uses is for anything from a dorsal hump to a broken nose.
"Patients often ask me what a rhinoplasty surgery is like. And I tell them, I perform closed rhinoplasty with all the incisions placed on the inside of the nose. There's no packing placed on the inside of the nose either. And all the stitches are dissolvable. Basically, we are sculpting the bone and the cartilage underneath the skin in order to affect the change. Such as shaving down the dorsal hump. narrowing the bulbous nasal tip.
Sometimes we're adding a cartilage graft, such as a spreader graft, to make sure that the upper lateral cartilages don't collapse inward during the healing process. Sometimes we're removing a conservative amount of cartilage from the nasal tip when it's bulbous. Sometimes we're putting suture techniques applied to those lower lateral cartilages of the nasal tip. But it's important to understand that the nose is a three-dimensional structure. And rhinoplasty is performed in all three dimensions. That's why the nose has to look good in all three dimensions. And it has to also breathe properly out of both sides of the nose. "
