Welcome to REUNION - There’s always room around our table for new friends interested in the conversation and adventure of following Jesus! We’re a group of everyday people who are attempting to learn exactly what following Jesus truly means. Some of us are ‘all in’ and some are still deciding. We confess that we don’t have it all figured out, but we believe that we discover Jesus together - in community and relationship.
Why don’t you pull up a seat?
Jesus says in Mark 3:35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
This statement was radically controversial then and is now. And no, we didn't serve Kool-aid on Sunday.
We're all being influenced by someone or something but as Christians can we honestly say it's Jesus?
We all pray for the someones or somethings we love.. especially when we're concerned.
Jesus does too! But maybe you'll be surprised why he's concerned for his present and future apprentices.
Adult or child? One or the other? Both and? Ken shares his reflections on child baptism and its place in the church today.
Baptism is confusing, mystical and yet important. Listen as Tayson shares his own honest story about his own Baptism.
Being a disciple means following Jesus even in a culture and church consumed by the individual ME.
Where many interpretations of the golden rule tell us to NOT to do things we'd never want done to us, Jesus says, "Do to others how you'd like things done to you.

Be Careful are words we often say to children because we care and we do not want them to come to harm.
Jesus says be careful when we give.
Not that we shouldn't give but because we will.
We all want to give but we don't. We all wish we could but we can't. We want to give money but we've already spent the money.
Jesus has a principle and Wes has some practices to help us make our financial lives new.

The 4th Sunday of Lent digs into a rockstar verse that's #1 in scripture texts -- Jn 3:16.
But just because we "know" this verse do we actually really understand it?
Jesus was nothing extraordinary for 30 years and yet... God said: You are my beloved son and you bring me great joy."

Sunday Wes led a discussion on how fasting clarifies our image of God because we, like those in the streets on Palm Sunday, might just be asking Jesus to be who he never can be.

Jesus didn't just come back to life, he passed through death. What does that mean?

Some people look at me and roll their eyes. I'm a fan. A big Fan.
There's no one as foolish as a person in love.
Today we reflect on a story about a woman in love and her extravagant worship.
Are you inspired or critical?
Sometimes it can be good to lose something. Sometimes is can be good to lose someone?
Sometimes people get ghosted by friends unwilling to have the difficult conversations.
Sometimes we're ghosted by our church.
There is a demographic of people in our culture who have been intentionally lost.
Good news? Jesus will find who the chuch misplaced.
This morning's lead in (from earlier this month) opens up our discussion on satan and how the accuser temps Jesus.
The temptations of Jesus do two major things that we believe are consistent in our temptations:
a. they attack our God given identiy by questioning the relability of God.
b. they attack our purpose.
We are resting this week but Jesus' teaching is too important to skip in this cultural moment.

As a church we are focused on defining our lives as Christ does through his example and teaching.
So let's look at a few stories that capture the heart of God and ask ourselves what is God inviting us to believe and do as a community?
Today's story in from John 8.
We've all had the "Fine Print" pulled out when we're buying a car or after a contract comes due.
Sadly many people have had their churches do it too..
On Sunday we began a series discussing our calling to erase the "Fine Print" and focus on the bold font - Love.
**we are a practice based community!
We will learn together:** listen and respond to Jesus’ view of the world and how we are invited to interact.
We will discuss together: We do not live in the NT culture. What would Jesus’ words look like lived out today in our context?
We will practice together: We will then apply Jesus’ teachings and way of life in our own.
We will return to discussion: practice is hard and we are there to support and enourage one another as we reflect on our practice. How did it go? How can we be recentred on Jesus. What questions are arising from our practice?
We will continue to learn: as we practice new questions arise that need to be addressed which will lead to further discussion, practice so on and so on…

Jesus at good food with the wrong people.
The table was foundational to the good news of Christ and the Kingdom of God
An open table where difference was secondary to a community's unity in Christ.
So here at Reunion we open our heats and lives to one another by choosing relationships and creating space.
Sharing yourself around a table in a polarizing culture is a dangerous act of rebellion and a key sign of Christ’s kingdom.

It is essential to our community that we see ourselves regardless of faith or belief as apprentices to Jesus. People who are learning the teachings of Jesus as we practice the way of Jesus together.

Forgiven
This week Wes tells a story based on John 8 that reflects the heart of God in response to sin. You might be surprised by what you hear and maybe by who you sense you are.
Please note that we are a community that is continuing to mourn the news of 215 Indigenous children found in an unmarked grave in B.C. Our network and local church repents of what we have done and left undone. We commit to the long hard work of reconciliation.

Here at Reunion we have occasional rest weeks to be intentionally present with our families and communities on the weekends.
This morning we are providing a reflection on Pentecost Sunday and pray that you'll join us in praying, "Come Holy Spirit, We Wait for You."

Acknowledging that event wrong is nice... jumping into a reaction of action is KIND.
The Love of God get's "their hands dirty." (John 3:16-17)
God's people are known for love - people who get their hands dirty.
God's people are KIND.
What does the agape love of God look like?
Jesus says we will be known for our love so how will be people know we are IN?
We are patient because we are growing in the presence of a patient GOD.

Who are you?
In this series we'll continue our Easter discussion by digging into our God given identity.

Love. Yes. You are love because you are God's. God is love. God cannot help or cannot choose not to love. God created you in love and for love.
But what is Love?

So what's the big deal? A LOT.
Today's we'll focus on one simple truth: You're IN. You've always been in, you'll always be in. The world will tell you something else. The church hasn't always told you but it's true. You are IN.
What is sin, what's the big deal, what does it do to us, to others?
What if sin is less about what you do?
What if Christianity is not about moral and behaviour modification?

This morning we're talking about God's economics and how it's really good news. Yes, money and church doesn't have to be weird or bad. We believe that God has an amazing vision of compassionate celebration we are invited to be a part of.

The church has looked like a few things in the last while and sadly often it has not been Jesus. The church has sold out on business and celebrity styles of leadership that have seen plenty of leaders fail and topple all at the cost of the people these men were called to serve.
Here at Reunion we're not perfect or do we pretend we'll get it all right. We do however want to imitate Jesus.
How does Jesus lead and how will we follow? With incarnational, questionable and diverse leadership.
Our discussion text this morning is Luke 13.
Today we introduce our new discussion series (RE)construction because we all have a theology. We all have statements and ideas about who God is, why church this life we're committed to. And these theologies have been given to us but at the centred on and reflective of Jesus?
In this series we will listen to stories of how Jesus deconstructs ideas people have about God by providing a new image of who God is and what life can be.
We are sorry for those of you who worry about asking question because of previous church experiencing. We are sorry you don't feel safe or allowed to wrestle. We pray that you'll being to trust that here at Reunion Belleville the goal is not to deconstruct but to Reconstruct on Jesus. So ask, wrestle and seek Jesus with us
The Bible seems to paint two different pictures of God: Yahweh and Jesus.
Are they different? Are they the same and how do we understand them?
We'll discuss a theology called progressive revelation as a means of understanding the God revealed in the stories of the Old Testament.
God has always been like Jesus. God doesn't change, our opinion of God does.
This week we discussed how Jesus is the Word of God and the bible is not. We’ll be asking how the bible has and is used often still to refute Jesus and how as anabaptist we resist the urge to say, “But the bible says…”
We do not follow the bible we follow Jesus.
We respect and love the bible because Jesus did.
The bible is a big deal but not as big as Jesus.
The way it's been done doesn't mean it's the way it should continue
We are Pioneers: A Culture of Adventure and Innovation — We open consider and pursue creative new ideas that contribute to our shared sense of mission

In such a polarizing culture of sides Jesus invites us to the important work in the middle - peacemaking where we join in putting things back together. The peace that Jesus seeks is one rooted in anti violent pacifism not passivity.

Church is not an event we attend but a lifestyle of apprenticeship we engage. This lifestyle is one that was created to be shared in community where we can admit differences in our unity to Christ.
