On the Young Alumni Podcast we interview and catch-up with alumni of Florida College. For those who aren't familiar with Florida College it's a Liberal Arts school located in Tampa, FL.
On this episode we interview Andrew Yeater Class of 2012. He holds a Bachelors in Liberal Studies (focus on English and Religious Thought) and a Masters in English. We had worked as an college English instructor, editor, and currently helps run the One Stone Biblical Resources business in Bowling Green, KY.

- The amount of homework and reading that was required for Florida College literature classes exposes you to what is required to pursue higher levels of education and tackle challenging projects.

- Originality wanted to join his local Florida College alumni group as an officer, but no officer positions were available. The YAC presented an opportunity to serve as an officer and he jumped no the opportunity!

On this episode we interview Leah Hersey Class of 2017. She holds a Bachelors in Organizational Communications and has been for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce in Investor relationships for a couple years now.

- There is benefit in going with a broad degree like Business Administration and then finding the area - you want to more narrowly focus on - within your course work.
- Found her passion for events and event planning in her extracurricular activities at Florida College.
- The number of degree options does not correlate with the number of career choices.
- Internship with Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. Gained experience organizing events catering to the Fort Worth business community.
- Check out your local chamber of commerce! It’s a great way to get involved with your community.
- Focuses on developing relationships with investors and educating them on the investment opportunities in the Fort Worth, TX area.
- Florida College provides a lot of opportunities to get involved with different organizations and leadership positions. So much can be learned from the opportunities outside of the class room!
- It can be a challenge to identify a job or career path which will be fulfilling. Finding mentors and further exploring your interests (no matter how small!) can help you get unstuck and determine a path to take.
- Look to get involved in your local Florida College alumni group or summer camp.
- Advise to younger self: “Appreciate where you’re at…Don’t rush it.”

- Florida College prepares you well academically for graduate school. There is a heavy focus on research in their history classes.
- Volunteered for Young Alumni Council to connect with current students, other alumni, and share his experiences with them.
- Continued involvement with Boys Scouts of America while in college by getting involved with local Tampa, FL troop.
- Enjoys Presidential history and is reading through old presidential addresses.
- Has a growing presidential mug collection.

- Advise to younger self: “You have the skills to do well and you will do well. Just chill out and go with it. Be calmer and go with the flow.”
