In a video Dever seemingly rebukes presbyterian brothers for their lack of biblical fidelity. The internet has a lot of thoughts on this issue. So this weekend was interesting. dale Partridge has seemingly had enough of the questions about his education and Pinterest account where hundreds of pictures of women were pinned. Shiny Happy People, the Amazon documentary series that looks into the Duggar family and their connections to Bill Gothard, revealed how a certain sect of Christianity viewed patriarchy as biblical. Some were upset about the series making it seem that these views were more prevalent and depicted all of Christianity. Are those claims true? Or is patriarchy part of Christianity? Rick Warren has penned a letter that is getting a lot of folks talking, but once again we ask is this what needs to be focused on right now? Wen have updates on some other stories as well like Amazon's Shiny Happy People Documentary series and Dale Partridge's silence.
Carl Lentz, former Hillsong NYC pastor, was featured in FX's documentary The Secrets of Hillsong. Here are my thoughts.
What is happening? Everywhere I look I just see the most odd, bizarre, and sometimes just evil take being propagated by "evangelicals" online.
The Resurgence was perhaps the largest website of the Young, Restless, and Reformed movement. Thousands of readers would visit the site daily to read Mark Driscoll's blog or Matt Chandler's recent post. Many young Christians found their way to the Puritans and Charles Spurgeon from this website. Then one day it just died. What happened?
Tim Ross, host of the Basement, preached at Mike Todd's Church and said one of the most horrendous things I've heard from a stage. Tim Ross said Jesus was his stripper. Yep, he said that. He really did. And it's even worse than that too. That and a lot more on today's Underdog Theology
John MacArthur always has a nose for controversy. Whether it's telling Beth Moore to Go Home or telling a female YouTube she isn't allowed to tell her own story. It's a lot. We'll also be talking about Judah Smith and his rule of a 10% tithe for church employees, Tucker Carlson and his departure from Fox, and a BIG W for Christian evangelism in Illinois. Isaiah Saldivar recently had a conversation with Ruslan discussing whether Liquid Death was a good thing to drink, which apparently led to a bunch of backlash from folks like Marcus Rogers because Liquid Death gives you demons. Is that biblical? Can drinking certain water give you demons? Michael Foster (of the Moscow camp) is promoting a new "documentary" on masculinity. We'll take a look at the trailer. Joe Rigney has resigned his leadership position at Bethlehem College and Seminary. This is a huge shakeup that lead to the John Piper established institution to push out a statement that is VERY interesting and makes it clear that Doug Wilson's teachings are at least in part no longer welcome at Bethlehem.

Christians have become so attached to some of these celebrity pastors that it seems that these "leaders" can do no wrong. Sometimes this intense appreciation verges into idolatry. Today is all about criticism. John Piper corrected John MacArthur on stage during the Puritan Conference at Grace Community Church. At the same time the MacArthur Center for Expository Preaching dropped an episode about how John MacArthur has dealt with his critics, at least his critics in the 80s. And TGC posted an article about how pastors shouldn't be criticized online. Lots to discuss today.

Every time I log into Twitter I see the same accounts of the same pastors making the same stupid mistake - They're trolling the church. It might not be their local church, but they are trolling the universal church. It needs to stop. It's time we call this behaviour out for what it is being purposely divisive.

The Guidepost report on the abuse within the Southern Baptist Convention is here and it is filled with all sorts of evil. According to the report, many leaders of the SBC have actively silenced victims and ignored abusers in order to maintain the convention. On top of all that, a well respected preacher and VP of the NAMB, Johnny Hunt, has been credibly accused of sexual assaulting a pastor's wife in 2010. Who is the next John MacArthur? Who will take his place as pastor at Grace Community Church? Well, the way this conversation is being discussed I think reveals more about how people think in conservative circles. We all know celebrity pastors like Carl Lentz, James McDonald, and Mark Driscoll have all abused the celebrity culture of mainstream evangelicalism. There is so much suffering in this world, so how can a good and sovereign God allow this level of suffering? How can evil exist in a world under God's rule? These are some of the hardest questions that we must ask, yes I said must, in our lives. The problem of evil and suffering is a difficult topic, but it is not a topic that the Bible does not speak on. In God's Word we can find a lot of clarity on this topic.

The Gospel Coalition takes aim at Christian YouTubers. Denny Burk continues to fight with Beth Allison Barr, Kristin Kobes Du Mez, among others. Thabiti Anyabwile says Owen Strachan needs to keep his "name out of your mouth." And lastly, James Coates calls TGC "useless." The fights go on and on. Can Christians disagree and still be loving? There's a lot of disagreement happening on secondary issues. Is it necessary? Or have some Christians lost their way in being united despite some disagreements?
