This will be a space where I can communicate with people and share some of my stories with all those willing to listen.
I will talk about some travel stories, personal experiences and sometimes just rambling on about nonsense
Thanks for reading
Rob
Hello hello :)
It's been about a month since I last uploaded anything and on my day off I decided to slowly churn this one out for whomever wants to listen in.
It's short one about my adventure to Norway almost 10 years ago. For my 21st birthday me and some buddies went over to celebrate in Oslo, Norway.
We went to The Vigeland Park which was full of interesting sculptures, Oslo Opera House , the Viking Ship Museum which has an amazingly preserved Viking long ship and many more places.
It was mainly a short trip with the lads. Would love to go back and visit the beauty of Norway once more.
Cheers for listening.
Hey guys, Sorry for being inactive over the last month. I was working all sorts of shifts in work and my sleep pattern, well, still isn't right.
I'm back again and joined by a good friend & colleague of mine, Liam. He's an avid traveller and spent several years travelling the world living abroad in countries such as Canada, Australia and many more, Vietnam is just one of the amazing countries he has visited so I just had to sit down with him and hear this travel story.
We chat about him touching down in Vietnam and getting greased up by airport security, first impressions, riding a motorcycle from north to south, being politely mobbed for photos by a village full of people and fighting chickens. Had a blast doing this and I'm hoping to sit down with him again and hear the rest of his stories.
Cheers Liam, ( sorry for the poor audio quality , we were in a staff room in work and it didn't dampen the sound that much, there were some interruption's throughout too, I tried my best to edit this but, i'm still learning how to do so correctly)
Thanks for listening guys.
Hey guys,
Appreciate you tuning in and having a listen.
Curious about how I study Japanese? I list off the ways I study Japanese and give some examples of the materials I use etc.
Language learning is fun and you have you make it as fun as possible I feel to really anchor the lessons in place.
Whether its creative and fun flash cards, games with a study buddy or even online lessons from your favourite Youtuber.
If you popped by to listen again I appreciate it.
Cheers guys,
Hey Guys!
I had the opportunity to be able to sit back and have a relaxed chat with Meg about travelling to Japan.
We talked about the reason why Japan was the destination, various different experiences in cities such as Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and touched a bit on obtaining a working holiday visa after coming home from the short trip.
I'd be happy to do a part 2 of this and chat with Meg about the working holiday visa in Japan, but we'll leave that for another day.
Cheers!

Just a small disclaimer - These are purely my own thoughts and opinions and are in no way professional advise.
I was moving rooms and I stumbled upon my old cd collection and there were a fair few cd's in the collection that really threw some heavy nostalgia my way.
I go into detail into a few albums that I have about the types of memories they conjure.
Thanks for listening
Cheers.
Hey guys,
I know its been a while, life being life has gotten a little hectic over the last while with work, trying to get fit and some personal issues.
Anyway just wanted to let you know that I haven't stopped making podcasts, and I do in fact intend on making more.
Cheers
Hey guys!
Sorry it's been quiet on the podcast front. Work has been really hectic and I have barely had anytime to sit down and record anything, so an impromptu podcast is here waiting for you.
I recently joined the gym and in this podcast I speak about why I joined it and how I feel about it.
Thanks for listening
Cheers
Hey Guys!
Have you ever wondered why I started studying Japanese? Why I went to Japan? What made me become an organiser of a Japanese meet up in Dublin?
In this episode I share the answers to these questions. I speak about my 1 on 1 private lessons. Becoming host / organiser of the Japanese meet-up in Dublin and me going to Japan. Thanks for listening
cheers. ( sorry I never edited out the start). 😂
Hey guys!
As the saying goes, "all good things must come to an end" and unfortunately this applies to my wonderful trip in Japan. In this episode I say farewell to Nippon.
It's been an amazing journey and i've had such a fun time re-living and sharing these stories with you.
I hope you had fun and got some enjoyment from this short series. I really do appreciate everyone who listened and feel free to send me some feedback.
Take care
You'll hear from me shortly
Cheers!
Hey guys!
Have you ever navigated your way through Shinjuku station? I almost had to but luckily my friend was there to guide me Its one of the biggest stations I have ever been in.
She took me to an all you can eat , all you can drink Shabu-shabu restaurant. After that we strolled around the city and visited the iconic Tokyo Tower.
Later that night I did the usual and stopped off at a small family owned bar. The owner was pleasant and had some very interest art on her walls.
Thanks for listening
Cheers
Hey guys! It's time for the 'I love Ireland' festival in Tokyo. I met a friend in Yoyogi park and bumped into old friends while enjoying the festivities.
We then went and tried some Indian food from her friends restaurant and as we parted ways she gave me some handmade sweets
. I continued on to the local hostel to gulp down a few well earned beers.
The next day I went to Asakusa, Akihabara and checked out all the stores and was like a kid in a candy shop checking out all the manga and anime related gifts,
Please enjoy this episode
Cheers!
Hey guys! I'm liking these Lo-Fi vibes in the background, do you prefer music or no music? Anyway, met with this chick from the studying app Hellotalk, we went for grilled fish and Ice-cream and took a stroll around Ueno.
I met up with an American guy I knew from Ireland, at the time he worked as an English teacher in Japan and came to Tokyo to hang out. We went and ate cow tongue , it was my first time to try it. We went to the Imperial Palace, unfortunately we couldn't get too close to it but was nice to see and wander around the "grounds" I also just ramble on a bit about the Toco guesthouse as I basically drank there every night in Tokyo!
Please enjoy the episode guys! Cheers!
Hey Guys!
Well this is the end of my Kansai stay, ending it with brunch in Kobe with friends saying potential final farewells ( because in this crazy world we never know who we will meet again ) I get an awesome surprise from my host mother's daughter at the train station, an easy ride back to Tokyo via shinkansen and then staying in a pretty nice capsule hotel which essentially just a hole in the wall, you're paying for a bed shared with like 40 other people you've got privacy but limited. Enjoy the episode lads and ladies Cheers!
Hey Guys!
I think an unfortunate but an amazing short trip to Osaka. I got a message on Twitter just the day before asking to meet up with this girl I had met over the internet several years ago. We meet and took a stroll around Osaka and visiting Osaka castle which was amazing!
I didn't get to explore a lot of Osaka, but there is always next time!
Thanks as always
Cheers
Hello guys!
I head out for a day trip to Kyoto with the host mother of my temporary Kobe home. We visited multiple shrines and temples, tried some delicious food and just lost ourselves in what seemed to be a time slip back to the past. Kyoto is such a beautiful city. It is a must see for every visitor in Japan
Thanks for listening
Cheers.
Hey guys!
So I finally get to explore Kobe and Sanomiya with some of my closest friends.
We go to pray at a shrine, eat some food, climb the Kobe port tower and finish the day off in an Izakaya.
I can't wait to go back to Japan
Did you listen? Did you enjoy?
Cheers
Welcome back guys!
We're going to Kansai! This will be my first time every to ride on a bullet train, or a "shinkansen" as they're known in Japan. These can travel on average 320kmph. That's fast let me tell you.
This time I talk about little journey from Tokyo to Kobe. Before leaving to go to Japan I was invited to stay at my friend's house. So i'm basically making my way there.
Hope you enjoy
Cheers
Hey guys! Welcome back.
WE MADE IT TO JAPAN! FINALLY!
Now the real journey begins. After landing into Narita airport , I scramble to get my JR pass and start making my way to my hostel.
Sounds pretty straight forward right, right.... WRONG! It's me! Nothing is straight forward. From airport to train station to subway station to hostel and a few sharp turns and hiccups along the way.
This is definitely an episode you must listen to. It's the longest podcast I've made so far ( out of 4 ) so I hope you don't get too overwhelmed . I had a good laugh with this one.
Hey guys, welcome back.
Oh boy! do we meet some interesting people on these flights over to Japan.
We travel from Dublin -> Dubai Dubai-> Tokyo , the whole travel over took around 22h-23h it was tiresome to say the least, I got through it but I wouldn't say without difficulty.
Hope you get a few giggles from this because speaking about it brought back some funny memories
Cheers
Welcome to episode 1
In this episode I just touch on getting to the airport, meeting a friend and getting through security.
This is just the start of such an amazing journey and I am happy to share with you all.
If this is something you find interesting please follow this series.
Cheers.
Hey guys!
In this first very short piece I explain why I decided to start this podcast and why I chose to speak about my trip to Japan.
Covid was and still is an interesting and challenging time, I found myself trying multiple new things and this is one of them.
I hope you listen and enjoy
Cheers,
