This ETHOS Institute Lecture is titled “The Culture of Death.”
The term, culture of life and culture of death were introduced by Pope Saint John Paul II in his 1995 encyclical Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life).

Lawrence Chong: I think the problem …is that inter-religious dialogue or ecumenism is seen as a hobby or extra-curricular. It is not!
Fr Adrian Danker SJ: The Church is called to make sure that it helps us all not to discriminate those either on the margins or those within the Church. The Church cannot wound, the Church must heal. At the end of the day, we build friendship, not just among ourselves, we've built friendship with Jesus.

The Synod has been a personal experience for Fr Clarence Devadass of Kuala Lumpur as he learnt to put on “the shoes of someone else and trying to understand what is really affecting them…” in their circumstances.
And Fr Jeffrey Segovia of the Philippines believes, “The Church is making it clear that it wants to grow, not as an institution, but as a community; as one body of Christ where nobody is left behind…”

By virtue of our Baptism we are called to the common priesthood to worship God alongside each other to use our ‘talents to advance the Kingdom of God. (CCC1241).
