I’m on a hunt to debunk Satan’s destructive lies he uses to “sift us” (Luke 22:31).

The LORD did not send us on life missions to ‘save the world’; the deception feels that way at least. We were not created to do it all, nor to hold all things together. The product of over-functioning is exhaustion, feeling overstressed, and being overwhelmed.

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” -Colossians 1:16-17

This is great news! Our empty cups have a remedy! No more woodshop days to piece together our lives.

We can surrender and be filled, despite our life season, high or low; Jesus is our solution. He alone holds all things together, including our lives.

Are you ready to stop pretending we got it all together? Join me in experiencing rest in the reality of “I Don’t Got It”?

Deuteronomy 6:4–5 – “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

I don’t know if this resonates, but I feel as if I’m neglecting something when I’m engaged in another way.

Life is full. Our cups are overflowing. But there is a better way to navigate and thrive despite it all.

In this episode, we will pause and reflect on what’s essential and how being anchored to it allows us to show up better for those we love and in all that we do.

Let’s dive in and get anchored!

Reflect and Deep Dive:

*How are our life “great things becoming the ultimate thing?

*What’s the difference between essentials and non-essentials in your life?

Is there a stretch of unanswered prayer requests?

Living in the light of Jesus means that we can get through anything! Jesus is the “more” needed to get beyond our present realities.

Isn’t that encouraging? We have an anchored hope that produces strength and endurance to press beyond the hard things (all shapes and sizes). God is producing something lasting, eternal within us, for His glory and the betterment of our lives.

Does the thought of change thrill or concern you?

Personally, I am a woman who craves order and consistency. I enjoy my normal habits (good and bad), for instance, my morning cup of coffee or time to decompress from daily stresses. I desire a known rhythm to count on for happiness (on any scale) amongst change and unknown circumstances.

If not vigilant and aware of my tendencies, I will guard my habits and miss opportunities to respond to whatever the Holy Spirit reveals as the better thing.

I wonder what my response would have been if Jesus had unconvincingly invited me to “follow me” before anyone knew who He was, as with His initial 12 disciples (Matthew 4:19).

Would I have been the one to miss Jesus because He was inviting me to something unfamiliar?

Would you follow this unknown Man?!

What about now? He still invites us to “follow me”. The act of following is to surrender. Counter to the distorted truth of the gospel in progressive Christianity, it’s implied to follow in totality.

Surrendering our life includes our heart and mind: Jesus wants all of us.

Jesus invites us to cease identification with our former selves and to abandon reliance on tendencies and personalities.

Jesus wants to be at the center of our lives, yet our unique temperaments and life experiences have shaped our journey and worldview.

How do we both understand ourselves and surrender that revealed person to Jesus?

The clear answer in scripture is to remain connected to Jesus (John 15:4-5), as a branch is connected to the tree trunk. There isn’t one productive, fruit/leaf-bearing branch that thrives without the tree. Likewise, we nestle all of us, the parts that should be cultivated and the things that need to be pruned, in the One who made us.

Whether our tendencies lie in going ahead of God’s eternality or leaning too much into doubt of Him without a clear answer to all of the “Wh” questions, both tendencies reveal our sin and limitations.

As disciples, we are more than our habits, strengths, and personalities. We are clingers of Jesus, who is greater than anything else we attempt to identify ourselves with.

The resurrection of Jesus is our motivational coach, personal spiritual trainer, and foundation by which anchors our hope. Our life navigation GPS will frequently reroute to destinations we cannot see, through some low valleys and high mountain peaks. But, wherever the day or season takes us, our anchor to thrive is solely Jesus.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. -1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Be wherever Jesus is. Imagine an umbilical cord connecting us to Him—wherever He moves, we move. When He stays, we stay. If life is great, we worship. When life is crumbling, we praise. The essence of our lives is grounded on the basis of the resurrection.

If you live by your planner (this is me), thrive on structure, and find comfort in organizing chaos, this will be both difficult and a burden reliever. When our systems start functioning like the god of our lives, we no longer leave room for Yahweh, the LORD.

Challenge Question:

If a relationship needs your presence and compromises productivity, how can Jesus’s peace comfort you as you pivot to respond?

Cheering for you,

-Brittany

Can you relate to this: just when I think life’s under control, and a problem averted or solved, something new comes crashing in?!

Perhaps, you’ve finally decided to trust God, again, and you even make steps to loosen the death grip on life, then…CRASH…BANG! You open your eyes to another tough parenting moment, a hard season of marriage, work demands, a health crisis, and more unexpected storms in life’s forecast.

Suddenly you’re spiraling from a mountaintop Instagram-worthy post into the valley...again.

Climbing our way back up the mountain of happiness, from the hard pit, week after month after year is exhausting!

The cycle then repeats, and back we go to a death grip on life and relationships due to prior disappointment in letting go.

In truth- my invisible cloak of self-reliance was a self-made shield against not only experiencing disappointment from others but most of all by God. My buy-in to the distorted lies of self-made strategy and resourcefulness eroded my faith in Christ alone and prayer. Worry and striving became normalized and ‘just trusting in God a risk.

In our roles as wives and mothers, we manage, fix, and control many things, especially within the walls of our minds. Isn’t that what strong women do? In honest conviction, I could worship at church, serve in ministry, share the gospel, and even read the Bible about trusting God and faith, yet still deny the necessity of surrendering to the smallest level of my thoughts.

Doesn’t the Bible say, “We can do all things through Christ” (Philippians 4:13)? Yet somehow, 'through Christ' became a more suggestive afterthought, rather than as the mandate requisite.

Deeply underneath all of the exhaustive striving efforts, and need to control, is something that can’t be run from: fear.

  • Am I doing enough?

  • Is God really in control?

  • If not me, won’t everything fall apart?

The lie of Satan is- to carry these burdens, on our own. Nevertheless, we’re crumbling under the weight! Unfortunately, our marriages and children feel the whiplash of our bottled-up bitterness, fear, and anxiety.

It’s time to let it go!

Each day, consider trying a momentary heart assessment with the truth from the Holy Spirit, John 16:13, and allow Him to reveal things hindering us from surrender.

The truth of Jesus Christ- is to “come, follow me”. Courageously give Jesus all of the mess around us, and the over-powering storm of emotions and internal intangibles such as anxiety, despair, bitterness, excessive negativity, and worry.

“For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.” -Mark 8:35

Victory is experienced through faith to let go. That’s a crazy paradox! However, our surrender is not done blindly or by chance, instead it’s a daily intentional decision to trust Yahweh, LORD, the One who independently sustains it all.

Consider a quick mental exercise: Meditate on the names of God to renew your thinking and exchange destroyers, such as fear, doubt, being overwhelmed, anxiety, and overthinking for the unshakeable peace of Jesus Christ.

  • El Roi – The Lord who sees you, everyday-all day.

  • Yahweh Raah – The Lord who guides as a devoted and loving shepherd.

  • El Elyon – The Lord that reigns above all andis fully in control.

So, about this podcast episode- let’s jump back into our Book of Psalm reading journey, next up is Psalm 108.

A real battle is underway 24/7, and it’s mandatory, not a cute suggestion, to stand 10 toes down and all-out fight from our seated position in Christ (Colossians 3:1); the real battle strategy that wins against control.

Are you ready? Trust the One who never fails.

Let’s do it together, each day shoulder to shoulder.

Cheering for you!

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.” -1 Peter 4:12-13

I put on my cross necklace daily, sometimes pairing it with earrings—but what does the cross truly represent? The dainty charm wasn’t celebrated over 2000 years ago as it is today. Jesus, in Mark 8:34, invites us to deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Him; what does that mean?

Could a loving God call us to hug our moments or lifelong plights of suffering?

In today’s episode, I share a powerful devotional from Oswald Chambers which challenges the present culture's comfort-driven mindset to shift our hearts toward the truth which is that following Christ means embracing His suffering.

Unfortunately, our dreams of a perfect marriage to our wonderful best friend aren’t exempt from Jesus’s invitation. Nor is our cherished role as mothers, which we often place at the center of our lives, going to be an addendum to the call to follow Jesus while dragging our cross.

When we understand the gospel of suffering, the trials we face as wives and moms have a deeper meaning. My hope is for this episode to normalize the difficulty. I pray that 1 Peter 4 can be applied daily to encourage your trust in the LORD, who sees you in all troubles.

Cheering for you!

Psalm 107 is on deck today! Life has rhythms, good and bad, which ones are we stuck in that God wants to free us from?

Let’s explore God’s rescue for not just the Israelites in the reading of Psalm 107, but today in our lives as well. Opening our hearts to the voice of the Holy Spirit welcomes in freedom and transforms us from the inside out.

Thriving in marriage can begin in the heart of one spouse. Our perspective aligned with God and modeled by Jesus allows us to not only shift our present circumstances but to transform our hearts.

It’s easy to feel stuck! However, we have a Heavenly Dad who offers us a way out by way of gratitude, humility, and surrender.

Let’s unpack the shift in our attitude; it becomes an opportunity for growth. Even if your marriage feels stuck, remember God has been in the business of rescue since the beginning of mankind.

Have you ever assessed the themes surrounding your life? Are there patterns of your rebellion to God’s restoration that can be traced?

“They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt.” -Psalm 106:21

Today’s podcast is from Psalm 106. I pray that the Holy Spirit illuminates God’s enduring faithfulness despite our constant failures. While it’s easy to read about the Israelites' shortcomings, applying the truth of this text to our lives as wives, mothers, career women, ministry leaders, and more makes it hit harder.

Here’s the great news for those of us who believe and trust in Jesus: He is a merciful, compassionate, and grace-filled High Priest. When we constantly blow it, our hope can remain secure in God who deeply cares about us. Not only does Jesus see us in the situations we face, He is full of empathy for our daily burdens; He once walked the earth both fully man and God.

Obedience is a “how” response to demonstrating faith in God. In practical terms, as mothers and wives, exploring the root issues of waywardness requires us to be honest about the daily practices that lead us to self-reliance instead of surrender. This crazy cycle of forgetting God and returning to Him started in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve—and unfortunately, it continues today.

Knowing better doesn’t always mean doing better, and doing better doesn’t assure we will always know better. Let’s commit—right now—to the transformative power that Jesus offers for each of our lives.

Consider this shift: as mothers and wives, our knowing and doing better no longer centers on us; rather, it points to how well we are imitating and following Jesus.

It’s time to forego an empty-hearted, performance-based lifestyle and pick up the pursuit of authentic trust, clinging to Jesus as the only answer to our mess.

I’m thankful that the light in the gospel heals, and can reorient our life path.

Psalm 105 is up ladies! What a mighty God we serve! He has done amazing things. He can do all things.

I inwardly gave up on believing my husband would be any different than he was. Many times, for many years, I quit my marriage until God granted me clarity in Mark 8:34-35.

Following Jesus is the hardest thing possible, yet it is the required term of agreement in becoming His disciple. Our obedience to remain in places of suffering, while simultaneously boasting the fruits of the spirit, such as joy and peace, calls for empowerment from God.

Yahweh Macadesh means the LORD who Sanctifies. Following God, from a core faith, not an outward phony check-the-box washes us and makes us holy. I am the first to admit I fought and bucked against the transformation. Following Christ, and imitating His every move, means that we are on a journey of holiness.

Happiness is an amazing bonus to the hard things we commit ourselves to, but happiness is ultimately a short-lived choice. Anchored wives and mothers courageously choose to cling to Jesus for the long run, happiness or no happiness.

Lord, may any woman reading this or listening to the podcast, be drawn to Your presence and power in her circumstance(s). Strengthen her each day for the tasks ahead. Help us, God! There is nowhere else we can go or turn besides You. Thank you for your grace and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name. Amen and Amen.

Is God still in control?

God invites us to a gratefulness boot camp everyday. As the 50 squats a day challenge shapes the quads, what would 50 intentional points of gratitude do for your spirit? Quite possibly this valley or mountain season is meant to discipline your heart to love God more than anything else.

The two common question I’m asked when I speak with wives in the aftermath of infidelity is “why did you stay?” and “how did you get through?” I am not an expert by any means, but I do have a testimony that was birthed through the journey.

Whether you’ve undergone betrayal or are presently walking through a season of it, I want to encourage you to rely in the unchanging nature of God.

Psalm 89 is up for our Psalm journey reading, but we will talk a lot about Psalm 27:1-2, which says “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Let’s jump into this difficult discussion.

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” -‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I know of many wives and mommas who are rockstars in many ways! All the things…we are doing a lot!

In the days that aren’t easy, or when we are overwhelmed by the weight of the “many things”, how do you revive your strength?

In this episode, the Psalm 85 reading inspires all to find peace and purpose in our God-given identity.

I am SO thankful that He has left us with certainty of victory in doing our MANY assignments, because of our position in Christ alone.

I spent this week praying and specifically asking God for a heart revival. What about you?

Are you ready to thrive in spite of the weighty assignments we’re called to? My hope is that you are encouraged to ask God:
Who am I?
What have you called me to do?
What do I need to start/stop/keep?

Cheering for you!

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As a momma of 4, it remains a challenge to build my decisions from the solid foundation of Jesus.

In this episode, the Psalm 84 reading inspires all to find hope and joy in our position to God. God is our light and protection, especially in hard decision-making situations.

Let’s remember Jesus’s words in Matthew 7:24-27 and practice the imagery of building our lives on the rock vs. sand.

When God is silent…
If the circumstances don’t shift…
During the storm…

In this episode, the Psalm 83 reading reveals insight into a resilient rhythm, written by Asaph, when trouble surrounds and God appears silent.

TAKEAWAYS

⚓️💚The blessed news of the gospel of Jesus is that when we surrender our lives to Jesus, believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths (Romans 10:9) then we are saved from an eternity in hell. God loves us and made a way, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in spite of our rebellion towards Him, to live eternity in heaven with Him.

⚓️💚 Nonetheless, following Jesus is not ONLY about getting a pass into Heaven, meanwhile living as we want on earth. A pursuit of Jesus is a surrendered old life, for a new life that is radiant of Jesus.

Today we’re reading Psalm 78 in our Psalm a day journey. We can see the woven love, grace and mercy of God in and through this Psalm and how wonderful Christ was in succeeding His assignment on earth.

Similar to times we misplace our car keys, in the circumstances or seasons that we drift from God, there are steps we can take to find our way to Him.

What does humility mean to you?

Luke 14:11 defines it this way, “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Let’s face it, humility is hard. But, in Christ, and by following His example, we can develop this quality.

God is all-knowing of what has occurred, is happening and what will come about in the future. God knows how He will work all things together, the bad and good.

Asaph is calling God to “remember” and avenge the wicked, for His namesake. We can, however, rest and rejoice in the power of Jesus in spite of adversity and conflict.

“Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

TAKEAWAY:
⚓️God will never abandon us. Jesus knows what is needed before we experience the need.

⚓️Rejoice in Jesus! Let’s intentionally focus on Jesus!

Psalm 73 today. I identify with Asaph the psalmist in his petition to God about the perceived prosperity of ungodly people.

Have you ever asked “God, why do good things happen to bad people and bad things good people?”

As Christ followers our greatest strength is in our surrender to God and characterization of humility.

Let’s discuss the power of rooting our beliefs in God and what happens when we set our hope & focus on Christ.

When I lived on a separate waveform than Jesus, I bet my chances on “God knows I’m a good person” and I assumed I had time.

The Bible says He is coming. We don’t know when, nor should we be fixated on this. He is coming is all we need to remember.

Rather than trying to instill fear, I pray this is encouraging and a hope-filled message. Let’s dive in.

Hey girl! I am excited to share what God has been revamping & doing in me during this testing season.

Did you know you may be IN a test or ON your way towards a test? Maybe you are limping out of one. Either way, this testing and pruning is a NORMAL process for we who follow Jesus.

Let’s learn to normalize the hard. What if we had the faith of Abraham in Genesis 22, when he had one of his hardest tests?

What if you believed you’re going to “come back” (Genesis 22:5) IN SPITE of the test?

Brace yourself

Life seems cyclical. Either a storm is coming, is beating down presently, or it has just passed. One thing is certain: it’s time to prepare.

If we brace ourselves, we will go through the hard times, impacted and even devastated, but thriving with the remnants left.

Look down and all around, what foundation have you built your life on? Is it fireproofed? Tornado ready? Hurricane resistant? Freezing snow capable?

Listen to the words of Jesus, in Matthew 5-7, today on the podcast. I pray it leads you to an inside out shift and/or encouragement to remain connected to Jesus day by day.

Things to consider:
-Read passages Matthew 5-7

-Inductive Bible Study technique:

H. Highlight a verse or more that stood out to you

E. Explain what Jesus was saying, why He was speaking in this way, think about context of the culture at that time

A. Apply what the Holy Spirit is illuminating in your heart when you heard this/read it. Why has God shown you this now? What could God be saying to you right now? How can you apply it?

R. Respond to God with full obedience. Write down or journal a prayer or some actionable step.

For this last HEAR inductive step, I often use the acronym SPACE as a guide for me to journal my response.

S. Do I have a sin to confess?

P. Is there a promise to step into?

A. What attitude do I need to change?

C. Did God expose a command to obey?

E. What example should I now follow?

In this episode, there’s a parenting tip to consider as you flourish as a mom.

Are you running on spiritual fullness or emptiness as you wear your all day, everyday, Momma/Mommy/Mom cap?

Who you define as your Source spills into your virtues as a mother. (Mark 8:29)

Questions to consider:

1) Who/What are you relying on?

2) Is God exposing any destructive expectations you’ve made for yourself as a mom, and/or have placed on your child (children)?

This month we are exposing and shredding any false peace in order to replace that with real peace.

We are invited to experience a full life in Jesus Christ, as we parent along the way, even while experiencing difficult parenting situations and seasons.

Let’s thrive ladies!

I celebrate a lot within others lives or my own, but not often do I make suffering a time to rejoice.

1 Peter 4 is clear that for those who believe & are disciples of Jesus Christ, our difficult circumstances can be opportunities to rejoice for what is coming ahead; the reward of our faith.

This is a prior recording from an interview with my friend who has since went on to be with the Lord. She is in her glorified self! I want to celebrate her amazing life and legacy, which was always in her living third.

As servants of Jesus Christ, we place God first, others second and then we trust any of our tending to God. This was exactly how Catherine Johnson lived her life.

What an honor to have known her on earth and I look forward to seeing her again soon (1 Thessalonians 4:13.)

This week our courageous woman who feared the Lord, and surrendered her will to the greater plan and purpose of God is...Jehosheba/Jehoshabeath. She was a princess by birth right, yet she took the narrow path, submitting first to God's will and that of her husband.

How can anyone live so courageously?!
⬇️⬇️

When we dwell with the God, He transforms us from the inside out. To dwell means to sit or abide with, or inhabit with. Whatever synonym is used, it comes down to this, when we decide to establish our life foundation in God, it requires the cost of surrender.

To dwell with God and find pleasure and fullness in Him, would mean that we have elevated our pursuit of Him, above and before anything else that consumes our life.

This week, and this whole month, we will read a parable that Jesus taught about the status of our spiritual heart.

Let's dwell with the Lord. Courageously pursue the Lord untethered to the world.

Cultivating Courageous Marriages Week!!🎉

EVERY second Tuesday of the month, join the Dixon's as we cultivate Christ anchored, Holy Spirit empowered, and Bible equipped marriages!

Clarity and direction is from the Lord. (Proverbs 3:5-7, and Isaiah 30:21.) Our marriages, too, need Holy Spirit led clarity!

The Bible doesn't speak directly about a vision and mission statement, but it does say in Amos 3:3 that in order to walk with another, both must establish clarity in the direction headed.

This week, let's talk about your marriage vision. Do you have one?

Marriage started in Genesis 2, and the Creator of it has a beautiful blueprint for us to tap into if we surrender our opinions and experiences to His way of operating.

We are NEVER without hope, nor are our marriages. So, let's thrive!

Your faithfulness in the hardest circumstances speaks volumes of your faith and anchoring.

If, like me, you have times you want to give up, turn around, or throw up your arms altogether, give all of that frustration and discontentment to a faithful and loving God!

What if your victory is around the corner? Imagine, you are on the brink of an inside out heart tsunami!

Habakkuk chapters 1-3 are so relatable and encouraging. Trusting God grows from faith to faith, Habakkuk 2:3-4.

Courageous Parenting Week!

As we Join me this week as I share some parenting struggles that have brought to light issues that God wants to expose.

Rather than jumping into the discussion with Nadine about "Should a Tween/Teen Date", we are starting with first things first. Our submissiveness and obedience to the Holy Spirit is our first order of business!

As parents, we cannot lead without first surrendering to Whom we follow, which is Jesus Christ. Even in our pit, we are never without hope! In spite of any turmoil, we have an anchor that bleeds peace into our heart and mind.

The next two weeks are great discussions, and toolkit equipping goodies for you as we discuss 1 Peter 2:11, Judges 2:1-3 and Deuteronomy 6:4-9.

What are you afraid of?

Jesus asked His disciples this question along with a loving rebuke to deal with their fear (Mark 4:40.) In assessment of our fears, God may reveal the why of them.

This week, I’m sharing some of my own fears, and some practical ways God has shown me to rebuke them.

What heart devotions are we subscribed to? What or who is first place? These sit in God’s seat, they lead and guide our subconscious mind, which directs what we do, or don’t do, each day.

God is after our heart affinities. He wants to be in first place. Everything else will fade away, but only one thing, that is God, will remain.

Do the weights of performance and perfection ever seem too heavy for each shoulder to bear? Elevating one’s capabilities and capacity, over time, is spiritually, physically and emotionally wearing.

However, how does someone trust a God that may compromise all the plans and expectations? There’s an illusion of comfort and stability when I am in control and have all power to get things done. It’s too risky to rely on others and even God.

God only works in first place. But, am I willing to let Him in to take over?

New season, this is season 3! God did it, and is making a way.

Welcome to this space! Imagine that we are at my kitchen counter or around a table with a cup of coffee. Today we are talking about how God made a way, via a new strategy, for King David and his army, against the Philistines.

We may not have a physical army coming against us, but we are in a war, and there is an enemy line that means to attack.

Today we are reading through 1 Chronicles 14:9-17. Grab your Bible. Let’s jump in.

We are reading in the book of Esther, chapters 7 & 8. Are you enjoying this book? I am basking in so many principles and promises in God’s word.

There is a reality of reversals from Genesis with the story of Joseph, to Moses and the Israelites leaving Egypt, to our present awaiting and yearning for the coming back of Jesus. In Christ, the sins from Adam that have infected the world we know, all the sickness, pain and destruction will be reversed. God reveals that in Him we are covered, even if in the valleys of life.

Trust exercises, falling backwards for instance, with coworkers or family events, allows us to rely on others. When we work with others, without guardrails, our unity is padded.

What about trust exercising with God?

In Proverbs 3:5, place your name in that scripture. I’ll go first, “Brittany trusts in the Lord with all her heart and she doesn’t rely on her own understanding.”

For parents who may be bewildered, overwhelmed, fatigued, or anxious, I want to encourage you to “trust in the Lord”. Here’s the double win, you are trusting God, and you’re trusting Him with His own possession (your kid.)

God knows what He is doing. We need to make this be our default in the valley and on life mountaintops.

Hey Friends, it’s that time AGAIN!

It’s Talk About it Tuesday. This is an opportunity to answer some questions or just talk about all of the things that may be at your door step, making it’s way to your couch or festering within your heart. But, through the lens of Christ is how we ought to find our answers.

Jesus is our Savior. Even if the Bible doesn’t specifically speak to a issue, it’s God’s redemptive story, full of principles and God’s rescue mission for us. We can glean from it and are transformed by it.

Today let’s kick off by defining what authenticator we should use to grow in wisdom. What we use to identify ourselves will either help to encourage our surrender to Christ, or hinder due to the attempt to validate apart from the Creator.

As 1 Corinthians 10:23 says, all things may be permissible, but it being beneficial requires God to lead & guide us.

Whether we are discussing the questions in this episode or other unanswered ones, the Holy Spirit is a trustworthy Teacher. Scripture is grounding & reliable.

Consider the lemonade stand on a hot day, you stop and support the child and get your need met. What about if you drove by and saw a sign marketing for your marriage to get better, would you stop?

The marriage formula wouldn’t be complicated in context, but in execution it would require some things from you. 1) Surrender to God and 2) Realizing the foundation and purpose of marriage.

What if your marriage, even if it is jacked up, is the best thing that could happen to you? What if God knew you would choose the worst guy, yet grow you. Could God have allowed you to go your own way with the purpose to prune and stretch you?

Marriage is more than what you think. First off, it is about God’s glory, not our convenience. Furthermore, it works for you even when it isn’t working.

What does it mean to be a woman? Did you know that God, our Creator, fashioned us with skill and expertise? Our redefine ought to originate with His design.

Today, I am exploring the boldness, confidence, purpose and joy that births from surrender + humility. The foundation is a fear of the Lord, as Proverbs 31:30 notes.

Hey friend!

New month! Are you excited about the new adventures ahead?!

While our lives and even the season may be shifting, let’s grab our anchor and break into the rock and foundation we build from; which is Christ. Our footing flows from a place of stability, contentment, peace and joy.

Why?! How?!

Glad you asked! It’s because of Who identifies us. I will never fly to a destination, achieve an award, acquire enough money in my bank account, or hear enough applause that will substitute the weight of my identity and worth in Christ alone.

Scriptures spoken today for your reference:
Ephesians 1:4-5
Ephesians 1:18
2 Corinthians 5:17
John 1:12
Hebrews 8:12
John 20:31
Colossians 3:3-4

Have you ever broken down, to the smallest level, what you are praying and asking God for?

For me, sometimes everything is swirling in my head, but I haven’t truly thought through what I think I want, and I haven’t really believed God for it.

Do you believe God for your heart desires? He has an answer for them. It may be a few different answers, but believe that not only does He have an answer, but it is the BEST for you. His will is in alignment with the greater purpose of the kingdom.

One thing that encourages me, and I pray it does for you, is that God already knows what we want before we ask, and His love crosses all boundaries!

I’m excited for you to listen in!

Hey friend-

Week 3 is here! We are in this month of discussing what prayer is about and how to implement it into our daily lives.

This week is all about cultivating a grateful heart. Thankfulness is a lifestyle we adopt & discipline ourselves for. Our grateful hearts radiate into dark places and reveal the light within us, which is Jesus Christ.

Maybe this season, or compilation of seasons makes it impossible to practice gratitude. The Bible invites us to live like this, yet our real problems cloud our ability to execute.

How do you stay grateful? Even in times of sorry.

Let’s jump into this discussion, about how thankfulness in our prayer life correlates to our mindset.

Thanks for joining!

This week, we head back to talking through a prayer acronym that can be used, ACTS. “C” is for confession and we are jumping into its intricacies.

What are some hinderances to prayer? Does God REALLY need me to confess my sin if He already knows my heart?

I’m so glad that in a generation of canceling one another, left and right, that God doesn’t hit the red button to cancel us. Whether we get prayer wrong or right, what truly matters is our relationship with God.

Even in our failure to confess, or when our confessions are half-hearted, I’m thankful that God is always willing to restore us back to a right standing with Him.

Hey friend! For the next two episodes, we are extending our topic of being planted to parenting.

Whether you are a mother, grandmother, aunt, Godmother, student ministry leader, or disciple maker of any kind, there are people we are leading. Our influence ripples our beliefs & actions, as a river, into the places we live, work and convene.

Ephesians‬ ‭4:1-2‬ says “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” There is something or someone that wards the prison of our hearts and minds.

Even if I think that “no one rules me”, and that I’m my own boss, then I have allowed myself to be ruler of myself. However, without Jesus, we cannot gracefully model patience, gentleness & humility, to list a few of many.

Are we preparing our hearts and those that we parent or lead? Jesus has modeled how to walk “worthy” of the calling, even in the middle of difficult times & persecution.

‭‭I am so grateful that we have such a faithful model! Aren’t you? I am thankful that God loves us so much to have sent his son (John 3:16), and that Jesus loved us enough to sacrifice everything for us. This motivates me to fight the good fight of faith, because the one who paved a way, loved me first.

In these new porch planters, that are very large, I mentally began to calculate how much it was going to cost to fill that massive space. But, then, it occurred to me, to fill it with the unseen, yet weighty large fillings first. By filling half of the planter with large stones, that are unknown to any other eye, it requires less of the glam stones & frill flowers at the top.

My cost was less for the larger stones. The beautiful frills and colors at the top look amazing, but they required way more effort to select, more time to glam it up and the expense was more financially.

The enemy and the weaknesses of our flesh, want us to believe the falsehood that we don’t have time for God. The demands of our schedules appear to be way more important, but what holds it all together below the surface?

When we decide to get and stay planted, we say not only “yes” to God, we invest in eternal self-care. Somehow I can connect the dots to my 30-minute Peloton ride to the correlation to my physical heart health, but there is a disconnect for me to apply this same principle to my spiritual heart, emotional stability and mental wellness when it comes to my relationship with God.

God isn’t a task. He is our life Source. It’s not just cute on our planner, He is how our planner gets done & we can have peace for the things that didn’t happen. We plant ourselves at the foot of Christ, as we are reading through Martha & Mary today, because Jesus says that is choosing the “necessary thing” (verse 42.)

Friends, as we plant, what we plant FIRST is most important.

Our significance to God is unchanged. The basis by which we define our worth & build our lives from is reliable and it is an unshakable truth.

This is where we plant! We need life giving water connected to our root system, and that is only found in Christ.

Psalm 1 is up for discussion today! Plant and bloom, no matter the season and there is no room for comparison.

Oh hey you 100th episode!

Hey friend! We are beginning a brand new month theme called “Planted”.

Do you ever struggle day to day NOT wanting to do anything? In difficult seasons, when my emotional battery reserve is depleting, I struggle to have what the day needs.

But, we have a solution! There is hope to our wavering emotions…getting and staying PLANTED!

I am so grateful that in spite of my lack of ability & the crazy of the season, that God is always working. We have freedom to be vulnerable with Him!

The processes of life will happen with our consent or not, so we might as well equip ourselves with an unchanging empowerment.

Our limitations meet His grace!

Happy 100th!

What is the undercurrent of your decisions and motivations? If I’m honest, it’s not always God, and even when it is Him, I am trying to achieve something for Him.

When do we rest in Him? When can we accept that His love doesn’t need any additives?

Friends, John 3:16 says that God gave us an eternal destiny with Him through His gift of Jesus to pay for our sins. Jesus not only was put up as our sacrifice, He willingly volunteered.

I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to see myself through the love and worth that God sees. We are loved in our worst and we’re saved before we did anything to need His salvation.

Rahab, in Joshua 2, was an unlikely candidate to deserve the designated title of “beloved daughter” of God. She was a prostitute and although she knew of God, she was not a believer.

Why would God allow such a woman to be considered to be in the lineage of Jesus coming to earth? The same reason we get to. She, like us, was loved.

Let’s jump into this week as we light our ignition to fire up for our divine assignments, carrying the banner of “beloved.” Let’s get ruthless for Christ!

How is your heart friend?

When the heat turns up, or during defeatist times, is your heart okay?

Jesus cares about you. He adores you. Let that marinate.

I know for me, especially in troubling circumstances, God’s love feels far away. The concept of God’s love can sometimes seem foreign for non-believer and believer alike. But, His love is enduring and it is timeless.

In the life of Hannah, we can read her story, and quite possibly, or at least I hope, feel her heartache. 1 Samuel 1:1-19.

Hannah’s agony and desperation doesn’t end in defeat friend! Like us, and everyone who has Jesus as an anchor, we can experience victory in spite of obvious times of defeat.

In Jesus Christ, we can shift our circumstantial suffering, hurt, and disappointment to a new experience with God.

Victory carved out in the middle is heat proofed & tested so that no enemy or trouble can remove it’s reality.

Friend, are you ready for an unshakable victory?

Please share how you are doing in the middle times and if there are any praise report victories. Also, subscribe to the podcast and blog (www.courageousradiance.com).

Abigail’s marriage to Nabal was far from happy, and her challenges came to a collision with her household’s fate to be wiped out due to the ignorance of her husband.

What should she do? What would you do? How do you intercede, yet remain in alignment with God.

In Mark 8:34, we are called to deny ourselves, accept our crosses, and follow Jesus. Following God transforms us, and sets us apart. This distinction becomes our navigation, our North Star, in the spectrum of horrible to great marriages.

Hi Friend! 💜

Each of us is brave in our own way and I’m so grateful to share the “let’s talk about it” story of my brave friend Stephanie.

Stephanie is up against a boulder that rolled down the hill of the enemy into her campsite. What does she do? How should she respond to the boulder called infidelity and abandonment?

In Matthew 19, there is an account of Jesus’s position on divorce and marriage. As anchored women, we do well when we seek what God says above anyone else, ourselves included.

Jesus sets the record straight as to why the decree of divorce was even given by Moses. But, y’all, this is hard!!! There is no judgment and in Christ there is certainly no condemnation (Romans 8-1.)

How do we guard our hearts against bitterness, fear and the feeling of failure?

In Stephanies story, just like there are others, the courageous thing means dealing with all that comes with this pain. However, God can redeem our pain and there is never anything lost when we remain connected to God,

I’m so thankful that we have a faithful Shepherd in spite of the circumstances we have to walk through. Stephanie is boldly believing God, and I am cheering her own in her faith.

Hey friend! Glad you made it this week, it’s week 3 of being Set Apart.

Influence and influencer are trending as how we identify ourselves and even occupations.

God is the Influence by which we can influence; everything flows from Him. Living in His influence means accepting and bossing up the resume to include “ambassador.” We are distinguished within society, as believers, or at least we should be.

Our lives, habits and goals should look different. This week we are talking about being set apart, through the life of Jehoshabeath/Jehosheba in 2 Chronicles 22:10-12.

Jehosheba may seem, by little mentioning, insignificant, but her life greatly & impacted the Kingdom of God.

Jehosheba was faithful, brave and compassionate to the purposes of God. She embodies faithful and distinguished living.

What an amazing daughter, wife, aunt, princess and woman of God to know more about! Tune in friend!

One question friend, it’s directly from Jesus himself “do you want to get well?” (John 5:5-9.)

As we deal with change from the inside to the outside, we should first ensure we have buy in.

Change isn’t convenient and there is always an associated cost for what sacrifices have to be started or those that need to be stopped. But, the reward is in the unlocking of our life next level.

Two things are needed IF you answered “yes” to wanting to change/get well: humility and commitment. This week on the podcast and blog courageousradiance.com, let’s talk about it!

Thanks for listening. Please connect with me, I’m grateful you are here. Subscribe to the podcast so each Thursday you can listen!

Hey friends you made it! Welcome!

Married, single, dating, and those in between, the relationship status we check off does not define us. These are all temporary states that are a part of us, but not the identifying piece.

Jesus has something so juicy, so filling that we just may leave behind what contingencies we thought we we were looking for. In Christ, we have eternity in view, and this not only refocuses our striving, but it allows us to be more fruitful where we are.

In John 4, Jesus made a divine appointment with a socially unworthy woman. She went from relationship to relationship, in search of second identity, but in actuality she was losing herself. The more substitutes she erected, the greater the lack gap became truth.

But. One conversation later. One opportunity to be find out truth and realize worth and how known she was, she instantly turned away from outside fixes. The Samaritan woman became inside focused and forgot the pursuits of the temporary.

Don’t you too want to experience the Messiah fill every area of lack? How amazing it is to realize the real why, and reorient your life around that!

Her relationship would forever change by one encounter with Christ. Her lack became wholeness, so much so that she had extra; she poured out to the community around her.

Y’all, we all need to make and not break this divine appointment with Christ. You know, the one each day that we may honestly breeze past as just something else to check off to do. Jesus is our fullness and our substance to fill any area of lack, including in our relationships.

Matthew 23:25-27

Real, lasting and life giving change requires an “inside then outside” approach. Jesus not only encourages this, He is pleased by it, and He ridicules those who take shortcuts.

We are not affective in our spheres of influence, nor will we be able to maximize ourselves if we do not follow the edict of Christ.

By championing within, we can champion the areas of our lives and the people that are touched by us. Greatness costs, legacy making stretches our boundaries of comfort. The cost is simply to live surrendered & under the internal microscope of the Holy Spirit.

Is greatness intriguing? Do you desire to embark on your full potential? Well…scoot up friends…Jesus has a roadmap for you to experience this, but it requires some looking and cleaning within.

1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is in the air this week as we celebrated Valentine’s Day. I wonder if everyone feels loved. I think about those that feel less than loved, and don’t even feel as if anyone is “for” them.

The standard of love is subjective. The basis by which we spring board into other friendships and relationships is centered from our oneness with God. Our ability to accept and believe that God is for us, loves us, and is our protective Father aids our thriving and flourishing.

Thank you for listening friend 💜 I pray that you bask and roll around in this love of our Father, it’s quite amazing!!

We are wrapping up the last day reading Psalm 119!

As we piece together the array of themes and assess what take away from Psalm 119, what are your overall prune places? What are areas for growth? Anything that you are awe about?

This psalmist has greatly inspired me to continue to show up for my audience of one, who is God, and not just read all this truth He has provided without being a faithful doer of it.

Thanks for listening! I pray that you are being transformed greatly as you dig into this Word and get anchored.

Day 20 ladies!! Let’s go!

We have been absorbing and possibly even applying, I pray, all the amazing instruction that has been found in God’s Word within these stanzas. Now, what is your unique “why” for the buy in that fuels your commitment to your relationship with Christ?

The things we check off on our boxes as to applaud ourselves and confirm our self-righteousness may be beneficial and purposeful, but without the why we will compromise when there is adversity and life inconveniences.

In Mark 10, Jesus talks with a guy who was the back then version of us today. He wanted Jesus’s stamp of approval, because of his sacrifices to the Lord. Jesus was compassionate and loving, but Jesus pointed out one area that is being hidden from Him. Rather than apologizing and immediately obeying, this rich ruler grieves for what Jesus requires him to give up. Jesus’s costs were too high. So, he abandoned all the “righteous” living he had done prior because this guys “why” was self-focused and self-actualizing rather than having a Christ surrendered “why.”

What’s your why friends?

Gods Word, or the Bible has hit every verse so far within this Psalm 119! If not worded as such, it’s a synonym of it, from decrees to instructions. This psalmist is imploring us to not separate the character of God from His Word. We can trust Him and grow as we store His word in our heart (Psalm 119:11.)

God promises to be our trusted guide. When we submit to His ways, walking in His ways as this Daily Grace Company journal is entitled, we align our lives with His direction.

God is in the business of healing and freeing us from both ourselves and the damaging constructs within our lives. We are made new in Christ, and only through His healing hand.

In the middle, even if joy and peace are possible in Christ and through His power. On the other side of it, His redemption is available. I am grateful that even in spite of the bumps or massive potholes in our journey, that God’s comfort and healing are available.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you for listening to the podcast and I pray you are subscribed and staying connected by the blog, and through social media (Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest). I welcome you, and I’m glad you are here!

Before you start full speed on your goals and planning the year ahead, have you left room for God to modify and veto where needed? Or, maybe your vision boxes God and He is trying to expand your territory beyond what you could imagine for yourself.

1 Samuel 15 accounts the story of King Saul losing his covering and anointing from God all due to his partial obedience, or in other words his disobedience. King Saul, like us, missed the opportunity to trust God. He did not pass the test to follow God wholeheartedly and surrender his will.

Perhaps, in 2022, God is stretching you, disturbing your comfort zone or meeting you with His faithful love and provision in a difficult season. Have you left room for God to script the story of your life this year ahead? Or are your plowing through on your own efforts and short-sightedness?

In today’s podcast, let’s explore our vision and the uncharted territory ahead, but with God’s protection before and behind us. We are ensured success, comfort in Him, and favor when we offer Him our full surrender and faithfulness.

Happy 2022 planning with God ahead.

“Grieve well friend”. A friend shared this, and it greatly impacted me. It seems grim to think of encouraging someone to grieve…well nonetheless. But, it is actually caring for someone’s well-being and encouraging spiritual wellness.

Jesus valued grief. Jesus, our Lord and Savior, modeled the way to grieve well. This can be found in the passage in John 11, the story of the death of Lazarus.

This Christmas season, while we celebrate the birth and life of Jesus Christ, we can do so with joy and in spite of grieving well. Jesus is our anchor and our hope is in His birth, life, death and resurrection. Our hope, our anchor, allows us to grieve well and to be present in the valleys and hills of life. We are hopeful in our security that eternity is in our view, our anchor is unshakable.

Marriage is not easy. Do you ever get tired of hearing this? It can be energy stealing for those married, and become the boogeyman for those whom are single. Either way it’s both deflating and accurate at the same time.

There are many false beliefs about marriage and soulmates, and I was foolish enough to believe that there was some other guy out there that would do a better job at being my spouse than my husband. No better way than to title this episode! I could say “How to Be Complete” or “Road to a Full Life.” But, what better than to call out what should not be. I went the difficult way in my decisions and I chose rebellion over Gods authority and surrender. Why? I was looking for a source without knowing the Source.

John 4, the Samaritan Woman at the well is me, but back then. She was rejected, an outcast, and she was looking for security, love and worth but in all the wrong ways.

How many times does the Holy Spirit whisper to you an invitation to take a narrow, yet protected and guided path, and you decide the wide and more easily traveled road? With good intentions, we think we know what is better for us, yet we often regret our choices.

God tests our hearts, in which our ambitions and interests are scrutinized under the magnifying lens of His will for our lives. We are given the opportunity to manage and oversee titles in our work places, homes and in the lives of others. God has given us assignments and work to do. But, when our plate is full with many things we both have to do and/or enjoy, what takes precedence over the other? How do you spread yourself in multiple directions?

1 Thessalonians 2:4 - our first ambition is to work diligently for the Lord and not to please others. Our first alliance is not even to be consumed with ourselves, Mark 8:34-35, but to live surrendered and as disciples of Christ.

Both this week and next, let’s talk and encourage one another to assess and reorient, if necessary, our Godly ambitions.

View Details

In John 21 we can read the account of Jesus's encounter with His disciples after His death and resurrection; He came back prior to His ascension and we find Him visiting those grieving His loss. His disciples returned back to their status quo, and went to do what they knew best pre-Jesus. Their hobby of fishing was a way to get their minds off their distress that Christ left and with no clear direction as to what to do next.

Experienced fishermen had trouble fishing, all night they fished and caught nothing. Yet, when Jesus appears, and gives them some tips as to where to place their nets, immediately they are overtaken by fish; more fish than they can even bear.

What happened different that had not already been tried pre-Jesus’s appearance?

In Deuteronomy 1, the rebellion of the Israelites is recounted by Moses, and he reminds them that their wilderness journey was exacerbated because they would not humble themselves under the mighty hand of God. Their journey across the wilderness, from Horeb to Kadesh-Barnea SHOULD have been 11 days, but because of their disbelief and rebellion, God’s punishment was to leave them for a lifetime in the wilderness and not allowing them into the promise land.

How disappointing! To be promised a future, but it is beyond the realm of belief. God would not allow them into this new land, yet they were determined to go anyways. They were insistent on making their own way and success into the new land without the presence and power of God.

Friends, this is a dangerous and burdensome spiritual, mental and emotional place to be; without the power of Christ in our lives.

Where is He asking or inviting us to cast our nets? Where is He wanting to fill in the gap?

Our power is in Him going before us, securing around and covering from behind. Self-sufficiency, in the realm of our relationship with God, is a paradox.

Surrender and humility is when we unlock God’s empowerment.

Got life crazy? What about busy, on top of busy? Can you relate to the lurking feeling of not measuring up?

In the busy, chaos and demanding expectations on every side, God is whispering profound wisdom. But, you cannot hear Him because He will not compete with the noise in your life.

Imagine, there is a trusted life route, whether we want it or not, that is being governed by a faithful and loving God, yet we don’t consult His Sovereignty or pause to consider His wisdom.

In Psalm 46, God’s Sovereignty is the basis by which all things are held together. No matter how much is going on around or within our lives, He is our safe zone. In Christ, our peace and sanity are secure. In our times of busy, or inability to focus, God encourages us to “be still…” and to be strengthened by Him.

For my busy moms, I understand the trenches, for the working women, I am with you on the level of busy brewing, and for the wives that are trying to be all she can be, listen I get it. But, God is still, in spite, calling for us all to elevate Him as our first things first. I want to encourage us all to start telling our busy, that God is first. Once we get aligned with Him, He will keep the rest in order.

Self-Denial is arguably one of the most identifying characteristics of a disciple of Christ. As Christ followers, we are invited to a blueprint that Christ outlined as the way to best prosper as well as to reflect Him; John 12:23-27 depicts a passage that Jesus is teaching and preparing His disciples how to live.

Let’s be honest, we all make plans and have beautiful dreams that may be very well meaning and even for others. Our lives are filled with hope to achieve great things and to live out our fullest lives. Jesus endorses us to be our best version and to embrace a life full of excellence, however He spins it a bit. Christ actually says that the road to success is not just in the dream making, it is in following Him and denying ourselves. Wait Jesus?! I cannot be hearing you correctly. These plans are for you, these dreams are God honoring and for others. Even in all that truth, if it’s foundation is not in full surrender to Him than there cannot be a God pleasing success on the other side of it. Jesus explains, our lives must model the Guide.

This is a very difficult task! Do you ensure that God is pleased in your achievements? Do you accept His “yes, go” equal to His “no, wait”? Let’s jump into another discussion on the podcast about when dreams are broken or deferred.

I have so many plans, maybe you can relate.

When your schedule is full, work is busy, life and family demand a lot from you, what do you prioritize as “non-negotiable”?

Have you guarded your time with God? Are there any time blocks that are centered around your listening for the guidance of the Holy Spirit?

Our connection with Christ is a two-lane highway. We have a big part in managing the consistency and showing up. Do you show up? With no agenda.

Simple obedience was modeled in the life of Christ. Abraham sacrificed his plan and comforts when God told him to kill Isaac; I’m the name of obedience.

Application:
1) When can you time block and carve out time for God? Consistently.

2) Are you willing to listen and obey whatever He invites you to do?

This week we are reading in 1 Samuel 15 to understand and apply to our current everyday mishaps of faithfulness to our rational rather than trusting God’s plan and direction.

In the chaos of today. With the fear based, anxiety driving conversations and in discomfort, I pray that you will double and triple check with the leading of the Holy Spirit.

God honors obedience. No matter what time or money sacrifices have been made, if it is not in His leading, therefore His empowerment…you’re sailing to your own island, on a boat with one paddle.

The safest place, in every season, circumstance and difficult valley and high mountain top is His will. Obey when it’s the hardest. Trust when you feel like you can’t anymore.

He will strengthen you. He helps us in our weakness when our devotion is undeniably written over our hearts, even when we do not get it right all the time.

Mark 9:14-29 is a powerful message through the storyline of a father who is overcome with desperation for the healing of his son. The lingering of an unanswered prayer has caused his hope to dim. The disciples were arguing with the scribes (verse 14-15) because they were giving the disciples push back due to the unsuccessful healing of a boy possessed with a demonic spirit. Jesus came along and the boy’s father pleaded for Him to intervene “IF” Jesus was even capable and willing. Jesus, in all of His glory and yet kindness shot down the doubt and confirmed His willingness.

In our inability God’s ability is elevated. The disciples were not able to heal the boy because they needed a Divine intervention for that kind of demon. The father had to endure countless moments of despair and disappointment which ultimately lead him to a crossroads with Divine healing.

My husband joins me to share our marriage redemption testimony.

When the reality of love as an action word rubs against emotions that don’t align, how do you deal with that?

Or, when a difficult spouse and overall challenging marriage has brought you to the point of no return, what’s the next step?

In 2 Corinthians 2 Paul reminds us that we should be aware of the plans and schemes of your enemy; satan has a target not only on you both individually but even more so on your marriage. Satan hates God’s plans for your marriage making Kingdom wins.

The aroma of our marriages 2 Corinthians 2:15 should be overpowering not only within the company of other believers, but even moreover for non-believers. In our marriages we get the opportunity to be a model that reps Gods love all of us.

There is a problem, this is not easy! Sin entangles us all and that shows up in our marriages in some way. How do you pull this off then?

Join us as we talk through scripture and see what God has to say about this.

Jesus promises us a life in Him that opens the door for eternal security and fulfillment in Him in this current life. In Christ, we have satisfaction and completion, as He promised that He is our Bread of Life in a detailed passage in John 6:35-58.

Our life may be difficult or have seasons that are more pressing, or there may feel like needs, expectations and desires may not align with what is presenting. But, even still, He promises that a heart filled by Him can still manifest the fruits of the Spirit because our completion is in Him.

Idols not only cloud our vision, but they tie up the heart to temporary pleasures here on earth. Our anchor in Christ cannot be substituted by relationships, possessions, status, health, wealth, etc. God is our all! If God is our Source, we are more free to let go, if called or forced to, of something.

So, is there any area in your life that is tying up your heart affections? Does God possibly need to use whatever is in your grip, but that He cannot access because you rely on that more than Him?

This week we are talking about idols. We are calling out the areas that have bumped God from number 1 to the background.

Imagine you are at your annual eye check-up, you’re given choices “1 or 2”. Option 1 is a consistent heartbeat or heart posture towards God. Option 2 is self-reliance & me-centered empowerment. Which do you choose?🤷🏾‍♀️ The prescription eyeglasses, the lens by which you will see the world through, is molded by your consistent choices.

Life comes into focus through the lens of surrender & humility. None of this is culture derived or going to win awards and a following. But, in exchange there is far more value because power is made available to empower you through any circumstance.

Thanks for listening! I pray that this encourages you along the way today.

Proverbs 4 and Mark 10 are up for discussion.

Rather than chasing the following and the platform, or the status that may or may not be meant for you, what about considering your posture?

There may not appear to be much to the concept, yet it is not an easy spiritual discipline to assess your heart and the outflow from it.

We are raising a teenager and the rebellion is real! Through this tough parenting season, I myself am learning to plant myself at the feet of Christ. I am quickly learning to not overlook the root issues within my own heart that may bleed out as self-reliance and pride.

There are songs I have memorized, and haven’t payed attention that I had committed to memory until the song comes on the radio and I start to sing along. Reciting scripture or certain Biblical passages, likewise studying the Bible is vital to the success of circumstantial victories. Many times, reflection on applicable scripture reframes my situation to not be on the level field as God, encourages me, and it gives me peace in spite of what I am dealing with. Psalm 62 chants more than once that God is our Rock and therefore we are not be be shaken. That is good news in light of reality, and it is hope in spite of what is uncertain.

God’s disclosure statement is written from cover to cover in the Bible, and no different than those before us, He wants us to believe and trust Him. In the face of adversity or difficulty we can either activate our fears or our faith; the former pulls us back and the other moves us forward. In Exodus 13-14, we will read and discuss God’s big picture overarching our circumstances, which is what we can use to activate step by step, moving us ahead. Thanks for listening!

In life there are not many certainties, but one thing that can be agreed on is that if you keep living it is inevitable that life dishes out problems. In John 16:33, Christ removes any false assumptions and guarantees that life will, in some way, be disappointing or frustrating. But, our hope is in Him we have peace through any difficulties and shortcomings. The disciples of Jesus hit some chopping waters and storms in Mark 4, in which Christ further illustrates that He is present with us in the trials. How are you weatherproofing your life? Thanks for listening!

If I asked you what are the 2 most important things that you commit to for your physical wellness, would the health of your teeth make the cut? I don’t know about you, but I want the report the dentist gives to reflect no cavities and improvement of my gums, without the dedication. When I short cut discipline, I try to makeup for lost time and get the same results as though I have been committed.

Similar to dental visits, and other areas that you could stand to improve, where does God rank in importance within your life? If you are a vase, and the stones sitting outside of the vase need to be placed inside, in order of priority, and the stones are different sizes, what goes in first? Do you place the big stones in first? Should you fill the jar with smaller stones then put the larger ones in at the top?

God is the big stone. Even if you haven’t accepted the whole Christianity piece, and in spite of the disbeliefs that may be present. I want to testify that God is the big stone. God in any other place, but the center, the first priority stone in our life jar, means that somewhere, somehow our life is out of balance.

Are your procrastinating your spiritual pursuits towards God because you believe that you have time later? This is a risk that is not worth taking. We get to reorient our lives to reflect the scale that God has in mind for our relationship with Him.

Will you run after connection with Him and pleasing Him more than anything else, and not just in the crisis?

Thanks for listening in!

There was a song in mid 1990s called “Mo Money Mo Problems”, and it resonates when I think about money. From childhood on, we are trained to run after money, even if not directly said, it can be inferred by way of our laser focus on our career. I associated money with security, and I did a horrible job, for decades, to understand my relationship to money.
As we wrap up the prior weeks discussion regarding mind transformation and becoming the “new me” or better version of ourselves, it would be a huge oversight for me to not include my financial mismanagement. From low credit scores, to bankruptcy, and over 100K in student loan debt, in my lifetime I have successfully written the chapters to a book I like to call “What NOT to do with money.”
When Christ has invited us to live an abundant life in Him (John 10:10), there is no area in our lives that should go untouched. This week my husband has joined in order to give his expertise, as a financial advisor, along with his own life baggage application as to why we must be vigilant to renew and align our minds with what God says should be our priority.
Thank you so much for joining in to the podcast!

Becoming the better version of ourselves comes with the prerequisite course named “Anchoring in Certainty.”God’s unchanging personhood is that foundation we can latch into for our stability within the constant changing circumstances of life. We can turn on the TV, visit the doctor, or receive a phone call to find out life altering information; nothing is certain. Furthermore, the fickleness of our relationships and interactions with others disqualifies this area as being our go to for security. When battling a bent such as insecurity, it can be an uphill fight to not struggle with constant doubt, comparison, self-hatred, and lack of perfection issues. As we continue to navigate arriving and thriving in the abundant life Christ has invited us to (John 10:10), we are talking through the transformation of our habits (Romans 12:2) specifically dealing with insecurities. Thank you for joining and listening in today! I appreciate you being on this page today! I pray this encourages and challenges you.

I believe that we all are diligently striving to develop into the better version of ourselves. The beginning of change can be initiated as long as you are ready to shed light and recognize that some areas in your life need tending to. It is rewarding and challenging to transition into a stronger “me”! I pray that you are ready to throw out your anchor in this mind transformation process, in order to latch onto the only certainty of your peace and success in this process. Christ is waiting for the opportunity to be tagged into your issues! Today, I am unveiling my bent of anxiety. Do you struggle with this as well? Let’s stop normalizing anxiety as a personality trait and take control of this! Let’s not let one more day pass that we allow our anxiety to rule our decisions, relationships and our lives. We are jumping from Isaiah to 2 Corinthians (and a few more in between) in our reading. Thanks for listening in!!

Real quick, in 10 seconds, tell me one person that you have a difficult relationship with?
Who pushes the buttons for you? Are you easily offended? Can you recall past relational pain that has severed your ability to maintain healthy relationships?
In Romans 12:2, we are encouraged to embrace the sacrificial life that Christ has ahead of us, but only by first taking ahold of your thinking and establishing healthy habits centered around mind renewal processes.
On this episode let's discuss empowerment in becoming our "new self" (Colossians 3), through renewing our mind and tearing down old habits that are not beneficial for this transformation. This week we are talking all things forgiveness. Can you identify any challenges involved when there are remnants of unforgiveness? I cannot imagine the pain that is very real in your story, and I do not believe that the process of forgiving and moving ahead is easy. Forgiveness is difficult, and even though it is NOT easy to abandon the need to build up emotional walls and withhold displaying love to others, Jesus adds a "but" on the playing field, which invites us to an emotional unleveling to be undertaken.
I appreciate your listening and being here!

What we think about God aligns with our faithfulness to obey and stay the unique path that He has given us. We are discussing King Hezekiah (2 Chronicles 29-32) again from the vantage point of both his success and pride.
Is Christ at the forefront of our lives or do our thoughts and values get in the way? Who ranks first: you or Him?
This week we are dealing with the value of nestling ourselves under the loving guidance and protection of Christ.

Thanks for landing here!
We are discussing the life of King Hezekiah; his running start and his success in a BIG way.
What was his secret? Not only is it noted in 2 Chronicles 29 that he was a king in alignment with God, but that he was consumed with his life being deeply rooted into his "hub".
God, as the center of our lives, will align us and therefore He will empower us to have success in the purposes that He has planned for our lives. Success and prosperity were given to King Hezekiah, 2 Chronicles 31, however it was only after his life was fully engolfed into a life connected with God.
What do you envision for your life? How connected are you to God? The motivation of our connection is not a demandingness for worldly defined success. Our driving force is humility, and a surrendered heart should be the essence of our posture.
I want more connection! I want to be all that God has created me to be!
Thanks for listening.

We are discussing for another week the difficult topic of mastering love from a Biblical view. Love is the first listed Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5, and it can be very challenging, yet the Bible talks about how much hinges on us exhibiting this fruit in our daily lives.  Our marriages are no different from the importance of knowing how to flesh out love in a dynamic way.
My husband joins me yet again and I am excited to have him be a part of the weighty topic of love + marriage + winning. Our win is defined in Ephesians 5:21, so join us for what it is that this says.
No children to distract us, just the bothersome background noise of our fellow neighbor, a train, so let's jump right in!

Almost 14 years later, we have swam through years of infidelity, anger, unforgiveness, and strife. Not to mention, we had to deal with combined failed expectations as a parent when both of our sons were diagnosed with Autism.
My husband Eddie has joined me to discuss yet another fruit of the spirit, love which is so fitting post Valentine's Day. We are tackling this discussion about love from the perspective of what love even is, where does it fit into a marriage, and how do you navigate the growth of this Fruit of the Spirit when the one you love is not deserving.

Raise or wave your hand if you can relate to this; I do not like to wait.
If you have mastered this art, then I am impressed, this remains an area that needs stretching and testing.  It's up for debate if the difficulty in waiting on God, or a career, change in relationship status, or even if in the back of the Chipotle line is hard because I am productive and feel as if I am wasting time, or if I can attribute it to the influence of the culture around me. Maybe it is a blended version of them both.
Waiting is not easy, convenient and it is hard to surrender to the unknown of how it will all work out in the end. However, there is a solution to the pressing issue of patience, or lack there of, have a seat. The absence of moving does not suggest lack of productivity, but rather it reframes the your sitting as doing more, not less.

If the goal is anywhere but God's glory in your marriage, you could potentially battle the wrong enemy. Equally detrimental is the possibility of being so distracted with your life and comforts, that growing the Kingdom through your marriage and children has lost first place.

We all are up against a spiritual battle that's behind the scenes of our life circumstances and emotions. Well, keeping our eyes focused on Christ is imperative for us to overcome and to finish the race with purpose and joy.

The winning prize is waiting for us on the other side. Ladies, we must stay glued to our Source in order to experience victory in our circumstances, attitudes, joy, peace and purpose. Plug into and fix your eyes (Hebrews 12) on our model, in Christ, to succeed at living your best life, which is always the surrendered one.
