Connection through conversation. Self-described conversationalist, Stacy Heller, uses her trademark quick wit and insight interviewing guests, and talking about topics and ideas from the ridiculous to the sublime.
A short, last-minute trip to Veranda Trip resulted in an epic hangover and tomatoes for Stacy. This week she helps pack for her daughter’s move to NYC. Today’s guest Matt Knutsen, inspired a memory about her late father and this week’s “ism.” Stacy and Matt, an experienced tattoo artist and owner of Hidden Addiction in Oroville, WA, chat about tattoos; their history, trends, unique purposes, and what prompted each of them to get their first tattoos. Matt shares his love for doing “Sailor Jerry-style” tattoos and his desire to see his artwork featured for the world to appreciate. To see Matt’s work follow him @hidden.addiction on Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok. Follow the link in his bio to vote for him in the Inked Magazine Competition. Did sharing her idea for a starter experience for the Burning Man-curious last week jinx this year’s attendees? Nah. Also, Stacy gets a complaint from a listener so makes it right. This week’s guest is Kathleen Lawson, a business strategist, in fact she’s Stacy’s business strategist! They chat about how Kathleen helps entrepreneurs and solopreneurs; whether they’re just starting and need a Sherpa to lead the way or they’re in process and need help building scaffolding that will steady and support their growing business. Stacy is a HUGE fan (and client), you can be too! Go to https://kathleen-lawson.com/ to learn more. To connect with Stacy, go to https://www.stacyconnects.com/.
Stacy starts out strong sharing a couple of ideas like her starter experience for the Burning Man-curious and her Choose Your Urn Adventure business idea. She also announces a new blog post and confesses she doesn’t feel grown up enough to be aging. This week’s show topic was inspired by a video of a mother/daughter sharing their musical artist ABCs. Stacy, Grace, Charles, and Eric take turns sharing their own artist ABCs. Unsurprisingly Stacy and Grace go with more mainstream picks while Eric and Charles each do a deeper dive. If you want to share your picks or read the new blog entry, go to https://www.stacyconnects.com/.
This week since she has no guest, Stacy decides to invite herself to pull up a mic and back the curtain. First, she does her usual weekly update with news of her mom, thoughts on the weather, the Barbie movie, and fondue. Her STACYISM is the first clue this episode is going to be even more transparent than usual (could that even be possible? Yes!). Stacy shares what one of her depressive funks looks like and how she tries to emerge from them relatively unscathed. She also asks listeners for more feedback. If you would like to share your thoughts, go to https://www.stacyconnects.com/ or shoot an email to stacy@stacyconnects.com.
Stacy chats about visiting with her mother (and friends) post-arm surgery. From her attitude going into surgery to her philosophy about recovery and aging, there was a lot to take in and share much to Joan’s embarrassment. She and her guest Liz Hampton of Lupine Services talk about Liz’s love, and her client’s need for order that is a balance between form and function. From nesting to empty nesting and every stage of life before, during and after, Liz brings her caregiver energy while planting the seeds of organization wherever she goes. To learn more about Liz Hampton, go to https://www.lupinehomeservices.com/ or email hello@lupinehomeservices.com to connect.
Stacy barely takes a breath as she shares that she’s two weeks Diet Coke clean and now does cryptoquips; she makes her case for rain barrels in the mountains considering the Eagle Bluff fire in Oroville. Her guest Kirra Sherman is used to her rambling, sometimes ego-driven ideas since she works with Stacy as an intuition coach. Kirra consults entrepreneurs who struggle to make the decisions that feel risky but will ultimately improve their bottom line (and life). Additionally, many of her clients are eager to free themselves of their self-imposed constraints; the narratives (real or imagined), the shoulds, have-tos, need-tos, etc. that create confusion and doubt personally and professionally. To learn more about Kirra, go to www.kirrasherman.com
Stacy starts by confessing she might need to stop drinking Diet Coke and/or gin and tonics; her guest Colby Wilk challenges her to explore why she needs them to begin with knowing they’re bad. It may be that her in-laws are visiting or perhaps it’s denial. Stacy and Colby chat about his practice as a spiritual teacher and guide; it’s a thoughtful conversation with topics ranging from character and denial to whether God “wants” and why he believes we’re not here to be happy. Colby is leading a webinar August 29, for more details go to: https://eastwestseattle.org/products/august-29-2023-tuesday-5-30-7pm-your-soul-is-calling-are-you-listening-with-colby-wilk-webinar or learn more about Colby at https://colbywilk.com/
Getting a new headshot just might be the worst thing ever; it’s not natural and how you show up in person never seems to match how you SHOW up in the photo. Stacy shares more about her photo shoot, an invitation to listen to the Stacy Connects episode, A Chip Off Toni Store with Maria Bartlow, and how fear of the unknown may not be the issue. She and her guest, friend and fellow podcaster, JD Wyneken explore more about the last topic and share what their TEDTalk would be about given the chance. Learn more about JD and his various projects at https://www.wordsbyjdk.com/
Since the program falls on Independence Day, Stacy celebrates by having friend, show producer, and former DAMTT co-host, Eric Reider on the show. In honor of Alice in Wonderland day, but mostly because it’s how it goes with them, they explore the conversational rabbit holes that only the Wheel o’Topics could inspire.
Stacy starts with anniversary and birthday greetings to family before getting sidelined by hacks on how to shop Costco without a membership. Naturally that leads to a story about the Trader Joes trading post pirate who sells their goods and wares in Canada. Stacy’s guest is her daughter Grace Heller. They chat about Gen Z versus Gen X references and vernacular as a bonding activity. It slaps.
Stacy’s Observations and Conversations sometimes leave her with more questions than answers; like why she has a compulsive need to get settled when she arrives anywhere? Why Taylor Swift fans need to wear bracelets with Swiftian turns of phrase? And how did Kirat from the Sweet Bobby podcast, not know she was being duped? Her guest Amanda Guaren, a real estate agent with Exp Realty, can’t answer those questions, however, she does answer Stacy’s questions about who’s buying houses, why, and what the habits of 2023’s first time homebuyers are? She also talks about what purchasing a house instills in new homeowners before sharing her own words of wisdom about controlling controllables. Find and connect with Amanda on Instagram at @amandaforrealestate.
Stacy’s Observations and Conversations are heavily influenced this week by the fact that it’s her 31st wedding anniversary. She shares the advice of Sima Aunty from Indian Matchmaker, when it comes to your expectations, compromise! The timing of her topic and her guests’ availability are proof of Divine intervention. Dr. Becky Bell has been called to mediate since childhood (being number five of eight kids will do that). Her unique skills and abilities paired with her calling to create safe, peaceful spaces for everyone to be seen and heard, resulted in her consulting business, Common Ground Conflict Solutions. Learn more about Becky by checking out her website, following her on Instagram at @iamdoctorbee or find her on LinkedIn. And in the meantime, next time you’re impatient for salty fries look around, you’re not alone!
Per usual Stacy starts by sharing Observations and Conversations from the past week; like that styes could be caused by pent-up anger and that lopping off tree suckers is super satisfying (especially if you have pent-up anger). Her guest Jill Beck, a Wellness Matchmaker, is especially enthusiastic about Stacy’s weekend activities as they prove her point that being “the picture of health” is NOT about weight or size. After finding her own unique path to fitness, Jill recognized that most fitness offerings fail the end-user and soil the overall fitness experience for people. Her solution? Connect clients with resources that will help them achieve their goals, whether that’s a marathon, a leisurely stroll through Italy, playing soccer or cheering the grandkids on while they play soccer. To learn more check out Jill’s blog, http://golong.substack.com her Instagram account (@justgolong) or email her at jill@golong.me. You can also schedule a Free Consultation.
Stacy proves she’s just like her mother by sharing a story about how her mom befriended Tom Hamilton Jr. on the plane to Seattle, a musician who is now an upcoming guest on the show. She also gives an update on her back and shares an African Proverb as her STACYISM. Stacy’s guest, Vicki Draper is an intuitive animal healer and author of three books. They talk about Vicki’s work with animals; how she acts as a translator between animals and their caregivers, allowing for clear communication to address any behavioral and/or health concerns. Stacy plans to hire Vicki to learn more about why her cat Finn is so anxious! To learn more about Vicki and her books, go to https://healingyouranimal.com/
Like Santa, Stacy’s mother is coming to town; she also likes cookies (but with scotch). Stacy raves about Violent Night and shares how she had a violent morning recently after a fall in her bathroom. Her guest, Denise Perkins is a coach whose passion is coaching women business owners, much like Stacy and herself, on how to better sell themselves and their services. By working on their mindset, clients start to recognize the value of their skill set; with a new appreciation of their worth, together they create an action plan. Denise works one-to-one with clients and also has a Facebook group all are welcome to join. Find Denise Cugini Perkins on Facebook (Women in Business - - Take the Scary out of Selling).
Stacy chats about her Thanksgiving back east; her nephew’s delicious braised turkey, her chatty in-laws and the overall vibe of the east coast versus west. She also raves about the mockumentary, “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” a total must-see! Her wise-beyond-his-year-son, Charlie joins the show for a frank conversation about how gaming, the internet and consuming digital content in general have influenced and impacted the health of his mind, body and spirit. Eye-opening and a little heartbreaking; a classic example of hindsight being 20/20 and hopefully models the importance of open communication between parents and children of all ages. Special thanks to Charlie!
Stacy begins with feedback from last week’s show about plastic surgery featuring, Leela Ward. She also talks about traveling for Thanksgiving and a STACYism about the ego filter we perceive information through. Her guests Pete Connolly of Acute Injury Massage and Kathy Lewis of Elemental Alchemy Healing talk about their work in alternative medicine and experiencing how the other works. As energy movers or “shifters” both Pete and Kathy help to release negative stored energy in the body that has led to mental, emotional, and physical discomfort and depletion. The work they do is lifechanging. Connect with Pete at https://www.aimbypete.com/ and with Kathy at 425-786-7482.
Stacy starts the show with a callback to an episode called, “You Complete Me” about Odin who is still in need of a kidney; take a listen and share to learn more about giving the gift of life this holiday season. Then on the show, Leela Ward talks about her various plastic surgeries; from lip injections to a BBL (with a few things in between). Leela is open about her why, what and how, and shares her family’s reactions along with the one regret she has now that she’s done. They end the episode talking about Airman Transportation, the second-generation, minority-owned business Leela owns and operates. If you’re on or around the Eastside of Seattle, book a ride through https://airmantransportation.com/.
Back from Italy and straight into the frying pan, it’s been a long week. Stacy gains one cat while babysitting her grand kitty Wilson, and almost loses another when Coal takes off in protest. Back for STACY CONNECTS second anniversary show is Stacy Harris (who is essentially to blame for Stacy ever meeting a mic). They go back to their original concept for the show, picking hard hitting topics from a fishbowl such as, Which of the 7 Dwarfs are you? and “What song do you sing in the shower?” It’s a very Stacy show.
After a week away, Stacy is back. She shares content from GMA as an addendum to her episode with Grace about being drugged while out in Boston. She also thanks JD, Bruce, and Eric for taking care of the show in her absence and showing her so much love. After a short break Stacy launches into a breakneck recap of her trip to Italy; from pasta lunches on quaint side streets in Rome and a near-Holy Heller moment in the Sistine Chapel to harvesting olives, truffle hunting, and wine tasting throughout Umbria. It was a whirlwind trip with too many highlights to count and many memories to cherish.
With Stacy on vacation in villa-esque Italy, her friends JDK Wyneken and Bruce Pflaumer - who also host podcasts that Stacy helped produce - steal the mic for this weeks episode to give her listeners more insight into what makes Stacy great and a World Champion Connector. And don’t worry - they were nice. Mostly.
Stacy shares her love of, and her son’s struggle with, floating in a pod; aside from overall being a weird experience, it’s great for letting go if you can. Naturally, she has a relevant Stacyism for her travels to Italy and life in general. Her guest, Ariel Hubbard who has been a guest on the program before (check out Ariel: An Energy Tidal Wave), talks about energy cording and the importance of cutting the cords that don’t serve any longer. She also talks about her podcast, Woman Power Zone. Learn more, find the podcast or connect with Ariel via her site, https://arielhubbard.com/
Stacy tortures her mother by sharing her latest find from Old Navy, faux-Rothys (they’re way cheaper, you’re welcome), before sharing an article from The New Yorker and the latest on The Try Guys. Her guest, Suzanne Weller is a coach/consultant or as she calls herself, a thought partner. She and Stacy chat about the language of leadership and transformation in business and beyond. Another dynamic conversation about the importance of communication as a strategic soft skill. To learn more about Suzanne Weller, go to https://wellercollaboration.com/
Stacy starts by sharing the response to the show featuring her daughter Grace before confessing to the wild hair that took root while sitting on her couch over the weekend. Her guest, Georgie Coote is a certified mindful change coach and national board-certified health and wellness coach who specializes in midlife transitions. She and Stacy chat about the growing pains that come when our roles change and the impact those changes can have on our relationships. Stacy also comments on how she relates to a particular episode of Georgie’s podcast, Love in Midlife with the 2Gs. It’s a dynamic conversation about a transformational time. To learn more about Georgie Coote, go to https://georgiecoote.com/
In packing for an upcoming trip to Italy, Stacy asks her daughters for their opinion on her various shoe choices and according to them, she’s reached the “sensible shoes” chapter of her life. After some additional BS & Banter with her guest and daughter Grace, they turn to a more serious topic for this program. Grace shares her experience being drugged at a bar in Boston. She shares what she recalls from that night versus what she was told, as well as how she was perceived by everyone throughout the ordeal, from paramedics to healthcare professionals to parents. Grace also shares important takeaways and lessons that are worth noting and sharing.
The story goes, it’s not easy being one of Stacy’s cats or an adult. Stacy shares her personality assessment of her cats referencing Nathan Lane, in the movie, Birdcage, Navy Seals with PTSD, and a neighborhood bully called, Coyote. She also shares that being an adult is hard and that sometimes growth requires discomfort and a pity party on the couch. Shifting to topics like story telling with guest Stephanie Rogers, Creative Director of Story Jam proves more comfortable. Stephanie shares the mission of Story Jam and the importance of storytelling as an art, record of historical importance, form of therapy, educational tool, entertainment form, and modality for organic influence and change. To learn more about Stephanie and Story Jam, go to https://www.storyjamshow.com/
Stacy shares pays tribute to her father on the 10th Anniversary of his death by sharing her “art” – her voice and stories. From mammograms and mediums to colonoscopies and whole brains, Stacy covers the spectrum during her opening monologue. Since she doesn’t have a guest, Stacy updates listeners on her business; her new website and coming out as an Intuitive Business Consultant. While attempting to explain what she does, she and Eric go back and forth on intuition versus experience. Ultimately, the show is about accepting our gifts and not wasting time or ego to share them with others. To learn more about Stacy’s day job go to www.stacyconnects.com
Stacy shares that she’s a “fixer” according to the podcast, “At the Root” which she co-hosts with Greg Kiper; a realization that leads her family to start using the code word “terrorist” when she hijacks conversations. It’s a self-awareness strategy Stacy is attempting with minimal success thus far. Her guest, Sherra Gasser, a youth empowerment coach, works with kids to help them avoid needing such strategies in their adult life. Stacy and Sherra have a powerful conversation about kids needing a safe place (and person) for hard conversations, clearly a shared passion. Take a listen and some cues from Sherra. To learn more about Sherra and her work check out her website https://mepowerment.org/
Stacy chats about her week at Veranda Beach; floating, watching the probably-should-be-cancelled-movie Airplane! in all it’s hilarious glory, and learning that a seahawk is an osprey. She welcomes professional acoustic bassist, Keith Lowes to the show. They talk about Keith’s journey from 4th grade attention seeking bass player to teenaged Mind jammer to professional touring and studio musician. He also shares the inspiration and origin for his most recent personal project. To learn more about Keith and his music, visit his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/keith.lowe.bass
Stacy shares what she’s learned about wedding planning and tales of Veranda Beach, including Rob and rain barrel talk, blueberry picking and pinching tomatoes from her neighbor’s window boxes. She welcomes on the show Ashley Barnes, a Leadership and Development Coach. Ashley is “following her weird” by weaving multiple passions and interests (like her leadership work, Reiki, and poetry) into a call to action. She is also a poet, in fact, her third book of poetry, entitled, Liminal comes out August 22, 2022. Learn more and pre-order her book from her website, https://ashleycastlebarnes.com/
Stacy wonders aloud if she’s the only one that can’t hear when her glasses are off, leading to a conversation about buying readers from Walmart. She also shares a PSA about the phrase, “up to you,” which you should listen if you care about your relationships. On the show this week is Erik Krema, Business Development Manager for Hubbard Radio Seattle. Stacy and Erik talk a bit about his journey to radio from publishing his own newspaper focused on small businesses, what makes KKNW a unique station and why radio is still relevant. Erik also shares which shows he hosts or co-hosts, check out the programs on KKNW https://1150kknw.com/ or KIXI https://kixi.com/.

She also shares a STACYISM about preparing the path or the person. Her guest is Coleen Gose, a life coach who specializes in helping others recognize and recover from toxic relationships. Coleen and Stacy talk about the origin story behind these relationships, the impact they have on attitude and perspective, how they seep into other dynamics and the importance of community in healing. You can learn more about Coleen, her coaching, webinars and new book, A Woman’s Journey of a Lifetime on her website https://www.coachingwithcoleen.com/.
Stacy shares conversations and observations from two weeks with her mother and her mother’s BFF, Lee, who are also guests on the show. Nicknames, energy and Mom’s habit of “stealing” Stacy’s stuff are just some of the topics covered. From there, Stacy interviews the gals about aging in terms of staying positive, friendships, mental flexibility, dating, and eating. An interesting insight into how to stay young at heart and build a community of family when the world starts zooming by faster than your legs can move.
Stacy shares conversations and observations from her week including a follow up to the Usain Bolt versus Joey Chestnut relay race debate, pool people watching and ordering oysters from Amazon for the pearls. Stacy’s guest this week is 17-year-old, Kirkland-based artist and business-savvy marketer, Austin Picinich. Primarily self-taught, Austin learned his way around a canvas by doing and with support from his art-loving parents. He learned his way around promotion through local artists sharing inspiration and information as well as from his high school DECA class. Not only does he paint and promote, but he gives back as well; he conceived and executed a community-based project at like his mural at Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland, WA to raise awareness for salmon restoration. To learn more about Austin, his art and his next mural, go to https://www.austinsart.net/
Stacy shares some of the conversations she had over the past week about topics ranging from BLT ratios to who would win a relay race between Usain Bolt and Joey Chestnut (Usain Bolt obvi); even guest Marjorie Schreurs weighs in on the topic. Stacy and Marjorie talk about Marjorie’s work as an ADHD and micro-dosing coach and psychedelic journey guide. Stacy has lots of questions about the reputation, myths and fears surrounding psychedelics including her own. They also discuss how micro-dosing can be a powerful aid in helping with ADHD, making peace with past turmoil through awareness and generally being more present in our daily lives. A fascinating conversation about taking a journey to the center of yourself. To connect with Marjorie go to https://soulsticecoaching.com
Stacy shares the fun she’s had while at the lake house from riding e-bikes to reading trashy novels which is where the inspiration for this week’s STACYISM came from. It also serves as a great lead-in to guest, Dan Faulkner. Not only is Dan an established and well-reputed Eastside real estate agent with Compass, but he is also 20 years sober. In both his professional and personal lives, Dan strives to be present, transparent and of service. Stacy asks Dan about his story of addiction and recovery, whether he thinks mental health is at the root of addiction and how society sends messages of needing to be stoic and unfeeling to boys and young men; thus, generations of men who don’t “feel.” To connect with Dan, go to https://www.compass.com/agents/dan-faulkner-jr/.
Stacy shares a STACYISM that speaks to her own experiences and her thoughts about the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. Fear not, it’s not all serious on this episode of STACY CONNECTS, Stacy welcomes voice actor Aaron Deines to the program. During the pandemic, Aaron combined several personal and professional goals to create a career and lifestyle that prior to the pandemic he maybe wouldn’t have dared “voice” a desire to pursue. His work started with a lot of training, it requires vocal gymnastics and self-care, demands he understand his character’s motivation so he can connect authentically, and allowed him to get a cool recording booth that’s all tricked out for optimal sound. An interesting conversation about a talent we take for granted. Check out Aaron Deines at https://www.aarondeines.com/
During her Brain Dump Stacy shares what she’s learned from wedding planning for friends (spoiler: do what feels right, not what “is right”) and wonders aloud about adult kids and how much to intervene when it comes to holidays like Father’s Day. She welcomes Bucky Halker to program; a singer, songwriter, music historian, and labor activist whose focus is primarily Americana, or American Folk music. Bucky shares a bit about how he came to music in general and Americana specifically, his influences and inspiration, and the still current commentary of music giants like Woody Gutherie. Bucky is a musician with the pure heart of a historian; keeping the music and stories alive of the everyday people that made America. To learn more about Bucky and see his calendar of upcoming events go to http://www.buckyhalker.com/
Stacy’s shares what’s she’s learned about the call to action that is “Subscribe! Rate! Comment!” so many podcasters use, and why. Her brain dump is the usual eclectic mixed bag of topics. Her Stacy-ism, inspired by her scheduled guest, is about making choices you’re comfortable with when you decide you’re ready to have sex the first time. This leads to a litany of Stacy-isms that are reminiscent of car rides with her kids; conversations that are actually lectures. She ends with a review of Top Gun and Hustle before limping off into the sunset (until next time).
Stacy’s brain dump is especially manic this week since she’s still trying to recover from Covid-brain. For her Stacyism she offers her thoughts on what staying silent says, which is also the exact moment it‘s clear she needs to leave psychiatry to the experts. It’s no coincidence then that her guest is Dr. Richard Adler, a forensic and clinical psychiatrist. The conversation starts with their meet-cute, and touches on their shared love of NY and deli. At the heart of their conversation though is Dr. Adler’s mission of providing resources to those suffering from PTSD; a dream that led to his founding the PTSD Institute in Seattle in 2018; a dream that is slowly and steadily becoming realized. To learn more about Dr. Adler, his practice and the PTSD Institute, go to www.fcpsych.com.
Stacy shares that almost immediately after recording last week’s show, she tested positive for COVID and has been stuck in PA making lemon twists out of lemons to put in her mother’s nightly scotch and water. Her guest, Lauren Lefkowitz is an executive leadership coach, HR Consultant, recovering people pleaser/overachiever, co-host of “I Could Talk to You All Day” and lover of Thin Mints and The Smiths. Her message and motivation are clear and personal; FINE is a trap. If you’re interested in learning more about Lauren and all she has to offer, connect with her on LinkedIn @Lauren Lefkowitz and listen to her new podcast – it’s better than fine!
After spending the past week visiting her old stomping grounds in CT for her daughter Grace’s graduation, Stacy calls in from PA where she’s visiting her mother. Unsurprisingly Joan attempts to interrupt the show a few times but can’t distract Stacy from chatting with Theresa DeLappe of Third Layer Living. After tending to home, kids and her husband for years, Teresa decided it was past time to explore her third layer, which in her case is at the intersection of style and sustainability. Using her creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and sense of adventure Teresa founded Third Layer Living; she continues to peel back and share this most personal layer yet. I’m excited for what’s underneath! To learn more about Teresa and Third Layer Living check her out on social at @thirdlayerliving.
Stacy’s Brain Dump this week includes an update on her mother Joan (which naturally results in a phone call from her), a shout out about JD’s Wyneken’s podcast called, This Show is All About You and the episode titled, “For the Love of Odin” and a Stacy-ism about staying at the pity party too long in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Greg Peiker of Quiddity Wines is Stacy’s guest on the program. Stacy makes it her mission to draw out the reserved vintner and ask him questions that are off the beaten track. Greg shares his story about starting a winery, explaining he essentially followed a thread of interest, took a risk, and has been learning to fly, while flying the plane ever since. His delivery is as crisp and dry as his wines. Learn more about Quiddity Wines at https://quidditywines.com/
Stacy begins the show with her thoughts on the Met Gala, an update on her kidney, and a STACY-ism about change. Her guest this week is Lisa Dare, Leadership Coach focused on listening to the dynamics of teams who uses a forensic-style approach to get to the heart of professional relationships. However, her work doesn’t only impact workplace relationships, it is ultimately about relationship to self. Stacy and Lisa have a thoughtful conversation that covers intuition, vulnerability and who wore what to the Met. Find Lisa Dare on LinkedIn or on Instagram at @connectionsparkplug or text 475- 999-2726 to get her tips for better listening through a PAUSE.
Stacy starts with an update about her journey to donate one her kidneys and shares a favorite quote from Edith Wharton as her STACY-ism which leads in perfectly to what her guest, Mike Edwards focuses on an Executive Leadership Coach; what you attract is how you lead. They discuss Mike’s coaching, his book, Activate Your Leadship, the podcast he co-hosts called, Open Door Podcast and more in an organic free flowing conversation that touches on the importance of leading out of the overwhelm and into what you want. To learn more and connect with Mike go to https://leadingforchange.ca/
During her brain dump Stacy teases her husband about the frequency of his expression, “right?” during work calls knowing he doesn’t listen to the show, only to get a text that reads, “I am listening.” Oops! Luckily leadership coach and student of change, Melissa O’Mara is today’s guest and turns the conversation to playing bigger in your own work and life. Whether as an entrepreneur or an intrapreneur Melissa believes with self-awareness, practice, and hunger it’s important to embrace and BE change,. To learn more and connect with Melissa go to https://linktr.ee/Melissa_OMara_TLC

April is National Donate Life Month and April 6th is Living Donor Day. To make this topic more personal Stacy invites Maria Bartlow and her daughter Monica Franks to talk about Odin (their son and brother respectively) who needs a kidney, not to be complete, but to survive and thrive. Stacy’s longtime friend Margaret Rieck also joins the program to share her experience being a Living Donor having given one of her kidneys to a friend. The goal of today’s show is to raise awareness of the need for Living Donors, demystify the process, and ultimately encourage people to consider being a donor to save a life such as Odin’s. To see if you might be a donor, go to https://ucdavislivingdonor.org/ You can sign up to give to a random recipient or put in Odin Bartlow (DOB 11/25/64)
Before talking with guest Kathleen Hunter about her new “job” doing nothing, Stacy reminds listeners that her new show, Don’t Ask Me to Talk will air on 880AM KIXI on Thursdays from 3-4pm PST. She also talks about new takeaways and tips about ADHD from a recent conversation with former guest and psychiatric nurse practitioner, Jessica Ross. Finally, Kathleen gets to share details about her new passion for doing nothing. She and Stacy chat about the bravery it takes to walk about from something and the validity of doing “nothing,” especially if doing nothing includes baking Earl Grey shortbread cookies.
Stacy, Eric and guest Amie Louwers, go down a rabbit hole after a name association trick leads to a conversation about the etiquette of plus-ones and RSVP’ing to a wedding; even Joan weighs in on the topic. After the break, Stacy and Amie talk about Amie’s passion and purpose; her business, HealthStrong. Being diagnosed with Type I diabetes at age 13 turned out to be a guiding force and point of connection for Amie who works with clients to “Live Healthy and Be Healthy.” To learn more about Amie or connect with her, go to www.healthstrong.fit

After sharing a quote about talking too much that she disagrees with, she welcomes guest Bryan Kean. A friend of a friend, Bryan’s shares his medical journey with a pituitary tumor as a younger man and how it impacted is hormones, development, and self-esteem. They then turn to the topics of golf, gelato, and gratitude to round out a fun show.
Stacy shares a ridiculous story about a random dog named Joe and two of her cats, Percy and Finn that exemplifies the ridiculousness of her life. She and her guest, Emily McPhetridge talk about motherhood and how to navigate it when nature versus nurture are at war. Stacy also feels SUPER old mentioning references from NECCO wafers to Cheers that Emily doesn’t get at all!
A very sunburned-Stacy Zooms in from sunny Florida (AKA the surface of the sun) for the program with Eric in studio and her guest Sharon Sperry from Better Nature of Work. A self-described recovered corporate HR leader, Sharon believes in an ecosystem of resources for clients and helps them return to their natural habitat so they can lead with instinct and confidence. Sharon leads Stacy through an abbreviated version of her WILD program which has a new group beginning in early April 2022. Together they explore what it is Stacy does, thereby demonstrating what she does. To learn more about Sharon Sperry go to https://www.betternatureofwork.com/.
Stacy's scheduled guest Quincy of Albanus Design had to cancel at the last minute so Stacy does what she does best…talk! After clarifying comments from last time about the famed and adored Seattle-based restaurant Canlis (it was amazing!), Stacy shares that she and Eric will be partnering for a new show on AM 880 KIXI tentatively called, Spilling the Beans. They spill the beans about some of the topics they’ll cover such as; “should we rubber neck the lives of celebrities?” and “what to watch that everyone’s watching” and “what to watch that only Eric is watching.” It’s a work in progress…stay tuned!
Stacy’s Brain Dump runs long this week as she shares her thoughts on the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show and details about her daughter’s birthday dinner at Canlis. Eric and guest Justin Park weigh in with their thoughts on whether the investment was a good idea. Stacy uses the opportunity with Justin to pepper him with questions about what to do with all her ideas. An attorney with Romero Park, Justin good-naturedly answers her questions and others too (including a call-in question from voice no-talent “Ginny Creem”). To learn more about how Justin can help you; go to https://www.romeropark.com/

Stacy is joined by retired NFL player and former (Super Bowl 48-winning) Seahawk, D’Anthony Smith. After embarrassing herself by sharing her muscle composition is that of an elite athlete (per 23 and Me), Stacy switches gears to explore another shared passion - mental health. D’Anthony, now a doctor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, calls upon his long held desire to explore emotional health with his experiences as a professional athlete to raise awareness and educate about PTSD and mental health in general. Now part of another successful Seattle-based team; the PTSD Institute, D’Anthony is ready to go on the offense and tackle PTSD.
Zooming in from Veranda Beach, Stacy makes a case for being sponsored by Black Rock Galleries and shares her STACY-ism about chasing versus attracting your dreams in her weekly Brain Dump. She then welcomes yoga teacher and trainer, Ben Chartrand to the program. Prior to working full-time on his yoga practice, Ben worked with Stacy’s kids at the Coho Café. Stacy shares her own experiences and insecurities with yoga before asking Ben a myriad of questions. From questions about his own journey, the health and spiritual benefits of yoga, what to wear, types of yoga, and whether she will implode from heat during hot yoga, Stacy finds Ben to be like a breath of fresh air. Erica, a Naturopathic Primary Care physician practices at the Naturopathic Clinic of Issaquah alongside Dr. Bizzy Riley. While Erica can treat the whole family, she especially relishes the babies and women wanting babies (or struggling with other hormonal health concerns. She is also Joan approved as Joan commented after the show, “I’d see her in a heartbeat!” To learn more about Erica go to https://www.drericawood.com/
Faced with no guest for a change, Stacy essentially shares the stream of consciousness that occupies her brain at any given time. From her thoughts on prison reform and homelessness to sharing her aspirations of being like Erma Bombeck, her thoughts on the late night talk show hosts and her latest business idea of being a “filibusker,” Stacy leaves no thought behind.
For her first show of the new year, Stacy shares her theme and word for 2022; elephants and boundaries. In a too-perfect-they-must-have-planned-it coincidence, Stacy's first guest of 2022 is Gary Malcolm of Key Growth Coaching and Consulting. In sharing his insights about Stacy’s plans, Gary showcases how he works with his clients and gains a new workshop participant!
A bonus episode featuring the middle two of Stacy’s kids and former neighbor and longtime friend Corey Chaplin. They reminisce about the good ol’ days, laugh about past misadventures and cop to a few memories Stacy wasn’t privy to (although in truth, she knew it all). Enjoy a fun walk down memory lane, when laughs and adventures came easily.
For her post-Christmas 2021 episode Stacy is joined by her son, 19 year-old Charlie. They begin the show chatting about their similarities before shifting to an interesting conversation about the evolution of Charlie and his maturation from diaper-wearing Leapster lover to impressionable pre-teen to self-aware, sensitive, yet savvy CompSci student. It’s been a year! After 52 original episodes, Stacy welcomes back her first guest Stacy Harris to celebrate. Along with Eric, they breakdown the year from guests and reoccurring topics to favorite Stacyisms and what a year can bring. Her guest, Harry Samkange raises the bar on the typical conversation topics sharing stories about his parents, upbringing, interests and insights. A wonderful conversationalist and man, Stacy is wild about him. Listen to the end for a surprising detail about Harry!
Yankee fans are everywhere and often where you least expect them; Stacy met James (Jamie) Oneil first via their mutual’s friend Jennifer McKibbin Harris’ Facebook page. They had the rare FB dialog that didn’t center on politics or posturing; two strangers agreeing for a change. Naturally an invitation to talk about their mutual Yankee and McKibbin fandom followed. Joined by Stacy’s husband Pete; they talk about the Yankees, the lessons of loyalty, the power of good mentoring and the impact all of these can have on our lives. Ironically, in the last 5 minutes, they talk politics.
Stacy shares the usual nonsense, plus the story behind a shattered framed photograph and the message that came with its’ fall. She also chats with board engineer, show producer and enigma, Eric. In an attempt to peel back some layers, Stacy discovers more. She also springs yet another business idea on Eric, this time around creating a life skills online university - it may take more convincing.
A, for-podcast-only, continuation of the episode, “Live Like You Give a Damn,” with Dr. Bizzy Riley, Stacy welcomes back Maria Bartlow to talk about aging like you give a damn. Maria was previously a guest on the episode, “A Chip Off Toni Stone” in July 2021. Maria shares her thoughts about aging with humor, grace, and authenticity and why she believes age is more than just a number. Maria demonstrates throughout the conversation how being practical doesn’t mean giving up or giving in to the aging process; rather it means being prepared. Her take is a masterclass in being self-aware and a model for how to get the most out of some of your best years and how to get out of the car when your knee says otherwise (spoiler: laughing at yourself).
Stacy shares the highlights of her trip back east to visit Grace for parent’s weekend, including a chance meeting with Gabriel from Guatemala whose fiancé is working on technology to detect fires in remote locales before they become devasting. After discussing her other adventures with food and drink, Stacy welcomes Dr. Bizzy Riley to the show. Because her first visit featured Stacy’s Mom, Stacy wanted to bring Bizzy back to talk about her take on being a naturopathic doctor who wants people to, “Live like they give a damn.” And talk they do; from menstrual cycles and moods to sex and supplements, they cover a lot of ground.

She also talks about what it really means to be a melting pot during her Rant & Ramble. The conversation dives into a discussion about faith, religion and relationships that will make Stacy’s Mom proud.
Stacy is joined today by fellow KKNW Show host, podcaster, and Certified Financial Planner, Ross Krause of The Money Seat.
