“I want to fix my hormones… but how?”

This is a question so many women quietly carry. This feeling often arises from struggles like:

✨ Irregular periods
✨ Low libido
✨ Overwhelming mood swings
✨ Exhaustion or restlessness
✨ Stress that never seems to release

Women of all ages experience these common signs of hormone imbalance, yet they’re often overlooked, dismissed, or misunderstood.

If any of this sounds like you, please know that your body is trying to tell you something, and there are gentle, natural ways to fix your hormones so you can feel like yourself again.

The First Step to Healing Hormonal Imbalance Naturally: Recognize the Symptoms
Your body is incredibly wise, it sends you signals when something’s out of balance. By learning to listen to those signals through somatic practices, you can start supporting your hormone health naturally.

First, let’s take a look at the top signs that your hormones may be calling out for support.

The Top 5 Symptoms That Often Indicate Hormonal Imbalance in Women:#1: Irregular or Missed Cycles: Changes in your natural hormonal rhythm, such as missed period cycles, unusually heavy or light bleeding, or shifts in timing, can be a sign that your hormones are out of balance.

(This includes menstrual cycles, but also applies to those in perimenopause or menopause.)

2: Mood Swings, Anxiety, or Depression: Hormones like estrogen and progesterone influence neurotransmitters, so imbalance can cause emotional instability.

3: Fatigue and Low Energy: Persistent tiredness even after good rest may result from thyroid or adrenal hormone imbalance.

4: Weight Gain or Difficulty Losing Weight: Hormones regulate metabolism, so imbalances (like with insulin or cortisol) can cause weight fluctuations, especially around the belly.

5: Sleep Disturbances: Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up tired is common with fluctuating hormone levels, especially during menopause or PMS.

Hormonal Imbalance in Women: Why It’s Not “Just Part of Being a Woman”
When your hormones are out of balance, the signs may be subtle or overwhelming.

For example: You might notice irregular or painful periods, mood swings, anxiety, fatigue, or a constant feeling of being “off” without knowing why.

Bloating, breakouts, sleep issues, low libido, or a sense of emotional disconnection are all common signals that something deeper is happening in your body.

You might find yourself wondering:

‘Why am I so tired?’

‘Why does my mood crash before my period?’

‘Is this normal or is something wrong with me?’

The challenging part is that symptoms like painful periods or brain fog during peri-menopause are often brushed off as:

“Just part of being a woman”
But in reality, you’re not meant to suffer like this, your body’s trying to signal a need for deeper support, rest, and balance.

For example: The menstrual cycle isn’t meant to be a monthly inconvenience, it provides valuable insights into hormonal health and well-being. It’s considered by many professionals to be your fifth vital sign.

The truth is, hormonal imbalance is more common than you might think, and it doesn’t always require medical intervention to begin healing.

I’m Joss, Yoga Therapist C-IAYT. In this blog, I’ll guide you through the signs of hormonal imbalance and the exact ways you can begin to balance your hormones naturally!

Diving into the Real Cause of Hormone Imbalance

I spent nearly a decade stuck in a frustrating cycle of irregular periods, anxiety, depression, low energy, and poor sleep. I had no idea that all of these symptoms were connected or that they were signs of hormonal imbalance.

Even more importantly, I didn’t realize that unmanaged stress was the root cause of all my issues.

It was the thread quietly linking every symptom I was experiencing. What I didn’t know then is that stress doesn’t just live in your mind, it rewires your brain and body.

Your limbic system, the part of your brain that processes emotions, plays a central role in this. When something stressful happens - even something small - your brain shifts from logical thinking to emotional reaction, setting off a chain response in your nervous and endocrine systems.

This emotional stress response activates your HPA axis (that’s your stress hormone system), which can throw your body out of balance.

Over time, if stress keeps triggering this system, it can weaken your immune system, making you more prone to illness, fatigue, and inflammation. (McEwen, 2006).

At the time, I had very little mindfulness or body connection. I didn’t know how stress felt in my body, and I’d gotten used to ignoring the signs from my body. Things like muscle tension, shallow breathing, digestive issues, and a racing heart became my normal.

I didn’t just ignore my stress, I also didn’t know how to regulate it. And that’s what kept me stuck in the cycle.

Had someone told me to just start by reducing my stress and that this could help improve all of my symptoms…

I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Take it from me: it’s not always obvious when hormone imbalance is behind your symptoms, but in my case, stress was the thread that connected everything I was struggling with.

Back then, I didn't know the natural remedies for hormone imbalance, so I relied on quick fixes such as medication for anxiety, sleeping pills, and consecutive birth control to stop my period all together.

Essentially I was just blocking and resisting the calls of my body instead of nurturing and healing. All of that blocking and resisting led to a build-up of emotional and physical tension that I could not handle anymore.

This is when I turned to Eastern medicine, desperate for an actual solution.

Why I Stopped Suppressing Hormonal Symptoms and Started Healing Naturally

When I realized how deeply stress was affecting my hormones and overall health - and how little support I was getting from Western medicine - I felt called to explore Eastern healing.

✨ I was tired of taking medication for anxiety, stress, and depression.

✨ I didn’t want to block my menstrual cycle anymore.

I felt like a zombie - disconnected from my body because Western medicine only offered me ways to numb or suppress my symptoms.

I was desperate to feel like myself again.

At that point, I had completely lost faith in doctors. I was beginning to see that women’s health was underfunded, misunderstood, and often ignored. It felt like no one was listening. If I wanted to heal, I had to take matters into my own hands.

So I began researching ways to naturally reduce stress and balance my hormones. What I found was surprising: There were evidence-based and research-backed tools I could start using from home, simple practices that didn’t require prescriptions.

Connecting with your body and listening to its signals is the first step towards lasting change. While there’s no quick fix, embracing simple, consistent daily habits can create powerful shifts in your hormone health.

Below, I’m sharing my top ways to naturally balance your hormones. These are practical, gentle somatic practices that support your body’s natural rhythms and help you feel more grounded every day.

**Top 7 Ways to Balance Your Hormones Naturally**

If you’re serious about balancing your hormones naturally, consistency is key.

Aim to do a simple 10-minute routine every day. Your body and nervous system needs consistency to establish safety and balance. Even on days when you feel calm or happy, still do your practice, those are the moments that ensure you stay healthy and balanced.

1: Breathwork 🫁There are specific breathwork practices which are researched to reduce stress and regulate the nervous system, which plays a direct role in balancing your hormones.

Long Exhale Breathing:Shown to reduce sympathetic and enhance parasympathetic nervous system activity. To explore this breathing technique, exhale (through the nose) twice as long as your inhale. For example: inhale to the count of 4 or 6, exhale to the count of 8 or 12.

Bhramari Pranayama: Very soothing breathing technique. Research shows it effectively stimulates parasympathetic nervous system activity. helps reduce heart rate, and blood pressure (Pramanik et al., 2010).

2: Meditation 🧘‍♀️Meditation is more than a moment for calm. It’s a powerful, natural practice for hormonal health. Evidence shows that regular meditation can:

  • Reduce cortisol (that’s your main stress hormone) [1]
  • Support faster stress recovery and regulate your HPA axis (that’s your body’s main stress-response system linking the brain and hormone system). [2]
  • Positively influence other hormones like thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), growth hormone, and testosterone [3]

#3: Time in Nature 🌿Studies show that just 20–30 minutes in green spaces can significantly lower cortisol (your main stress hormone). Even a 15-minute walk in nature can boost relaxation by activating your parasympathetic nervous system and rebalancing your HPA‑axis (that’s your body’s main stress-response system linking the brain + hormone system).(dailytelegraph)

#4: Gentle Yoga 🙏Research shows that yoga helps the body come back to balanced state of physical and emotional congruence (NIH Study). It’s one of the most powerful, natural ways to reduce stress and support hormone balance.

Certain poses and breathwork practices help calm the nervous system, reduce cortisol, and stimulate the endocrine glands which are responsible for hormone production and regulation.

Gentle yoga also improves mindfulness, circulation, lymphatic flow, and supports the body’s detox processes, which are essential for balanced hormones.

The best part?

Yoga is for everyone. It’s accessible to all ages, body types, and experience levels. You don’t need to be flexible, just open to slowing down and reconnecting with your body and breathing.

#5: Prioritize Sleep & Circadian Rhythm 💤Your beauty sleep is extremely important. According to NIH studies, less than 7 hours of sleep was associated with increased levels of the hormone ghrelin, decreased levels of the hormone leptin, and sensitivity to the insulin hormone.

A great natural way to ensure you get a good night's rest is to create a sleep ritual. Set 15-minutes aside before bed to listen to a yoga nidra or guided meditation. Put all phones and screens away which can impact your circadian rhythm. Take a moment to slow your breathing down and release anywhere in your body you may be unnecessarily tensing.

#6: Self-Compassion 🩷Replace self-criticism with self-kindness. Research shows that higher levels of self-compassion are linked to lower daily cortisol levels (that’s your stress hormone) NIH study

Self-compassion also helps your body release feel-good hormones like oxytocin and natural opiates, promoting calm and connection. According to Dr. Kristin Neff, a leading researcher on self-compassion, this practice is strongly associated with greater mental well-being, life satisfaction, healthier habits, better relationships, and a more stable sense of self-worth (source).

A great way to practice more self-compassion is to start a thoughts journal. Try to catch yourself in a moment that’s tough or where you feel bad and note your thoughts down…

For example: I shouldn’t have done that, why did I say that, I’m so dumb, etc.
Next, ask yourself: ‘Would I speak this way to a dear friend?’

#7: Cycle Syncing & Womb Connection 📅This one is the most transformational way to balance hormones naturally. Society encourages women to disconnect from their bodies in so many ways: to push through pain, ignore their cycles, and suppress emotions. We’re encouraged to align with a very masculine world.

This encouragement to disconnect is extremely harmful. When you ignore your natural rhythms, it can lead to all sorts of health problems such as burnout, hormonal imbalances, and pelvic health issues.

If you're ready to balance your hormones naturally, begin by honoring your cycles which include: menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, and sleep. As well as external rhythms: moon phases and the seasons.

Your are a cyclical being, hormonal healing starts when you begin to listen to and trust your body.

A 2020 study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that training based on menstrual phases improved strength, mood, and reduced hormonal symptoms (source).

You can start balancing your hormones with a simple 10-minute daily routine using the practices above.

Remember: When it comes to naturally balancing your hormones, consistency is key.

Your body needs a daily routine that nourishes all aspects of you: mind, body, and spirit. It's also important to focus on stress-specific practices in your daily routine.

For example: While breathwork is incredibly powerful, some techniques (like Kapalabhati or Wim Hof) are stimulating and activate the sympathetic nervous system, which may not be ideal if you're trying to lower cortisol and support hormone balance.

Your Next Steps to Natural Hormone Balance
If you’ve made it this far, you already know that balancing your hormones naturally means more than just fixing one issue, it’s about reconnecting to your body, reducing stress, and supporting your mind-body-spirit consistently.

Here’s a Step-by-Step Guide to Get You Started: Step 1: Create a daily 10-minute practice using some of the practices I shared above: breathwork, meditation, and gentle yoga.

Step 2: Prioritize rest, support your circadian rhythm, and begin syncing with your natural cycles.

Step 3: Practice self-compassion and use my journal tracking method so you can reduce self-criticism.

Step 4: Stay consistent.

Natural Hormone Balance Is Possible – Here's the Bottom Line

If you’ve been feeling exhausted, anxious, disconnected from your body, or stuck in a cycle of painful periods, mood swings, or poor sleep, please know you’re not alone.

I spent years in that same place, wondering what was wrong with me and why nothing seemed to help. The truth is, my hormones were out of balance, and no one had ever taught me how to listen to my body or regulate my stress naturally.

Everything changed when I stopped suppressing my symptoms and started tuning into my body.

I turned to holistic, evidence-based practices like breathwork, meditation, and gentle yoga. From here, I built a 10-minute daily self-care routine that finally fixed my hormones.

You don’t have to wait until you burn out to take action. You can start feeling better right away using natural remedies for hormonal imbalance.

✨ I created a free guided meditation designed specifically to support your nervous system, reset your feminine energy, and help restore your hormonal balance, naturally.

Do you ever find yourself overwhelmed by emotions during a conversation?

Is your inner voice filled with self-doubt, asking questions like: “Why did I say that?”

Maybe you fidget, hold your breath, or shrink your posture without realizing it?

If you find communication tough or avoid difficult conversations, you’re not alone! This blog is for you.

Many people struggle with communication because they’re not grounded or feeling safe during the experience.

Conversations can feel intimidating, especially when emotions are high. But with the right somatic tools, you can feel more grounded and communicate confident and empowered.

Here are 5 mindfulness tips to help you feel calm and confident in your interactions.1. **Embrace the Power of the Pause:**

One of the most effective ways to maintain your calm during a conversation is to feel your emotions rather than react to them.

It’s okay to have moments of silence, especially during difficult conversations. When emotions like anger or sadness arise, it’s easy to react impulsively without pausing to feel.

In these moments, remember to pause instead of instantly react: What are the felt sensations in your body?

Take a slow, deep breath. Notice how the emotion feels in your body, whether it’s anger tightening your chest or anxiety speeding up your heartbeat. Regulate your breathing and relax your body. Allow yourself to pause for as long as needed. This mindful pause creates space for calm, confident communication. 2. Ground Yourself in the Moment:

Grounding techniques help you stay present and connected during conversations. One simple way to anchor yourself is by observing the colors or sounds around you. Whether you’re speaking to one person or a group, take a moment to notice the room or environment. This shifts your focus from overthinking to being fully present.

You can also ground yourself by connecting to your body. If you’re standing or sitting, press down through your feet and notice their contact with the ground. Feeling the edges of your feet helps you center your energy and remain calm. 3. Lengthen your exhales to calm the nervous system and reduce anxiousness:

When emotions run high, your breathing might become shallow or you may unconsciously hold your breath. This signals to your nervous system that you’re unsafe, which heightens feelings of fear and anxiety. Instead, practice slow breathing.

Place a hand on your heart and remind yourself to breathe slowly and deeply. By slowing down your breath, you send calming signals to your nervous system, promoting a state of confidence and ease. 4. Notice Your Body Language:Your body communicates even when you’re silent. During conversations, check in with your body’s tension levels and posture. Are you clenching your jaw? Are your shoulders tense or hunched? Are your hands in fists?

Gently relax these areas. Soften your jaw, release your shoulders, and open your palms. By embodying calm and open energy, you naturally express confidence and approachability. 5. Practice Positive Self-Talk:Your inner dialogue influences your energy and body language. If you’re silently criticizing yourself, saying things like, “I’m so stupid” or “I shouldn’t have said that,” it impacts your posture and confidence. Others can sense this negative energy, even if they don’t know the words you’re thinking.

Practice self-compassion by reframing your thoughts. Remind yourself: ‘It’s okay, we are safe’. Positive self-talk helps release body tensions and promote calm.

Start Practicing Today

The key to confident and calm communication lies in your self-awareness.

By regularly practicing these mindfulness techniques, you’ll create feelings of calm and grounding in your body. This allows you to approach every conversation with confidence, and ease.

**Bottom Line:**

Embrace the power of the pause. Take this moment to self-regulate your breathing, body tensions, and posture. Take control of your self-talk in the moment. With these small changes, you’ll be well on your way to a more confident and empowered experience in any conversation.

In today’s fast-paced world, women often report experiencing higher levels of stress and anxiety compared to men.

Studies show that anxiety disorders are more prevalent in females (NIH) and a significant number of women describe their stress levels as extreme.

If you’re a woman experiencing stress, you might be struggling with how to manage and reduce stress effectively at home. The good news is, self-care for stress and anxiety doesn’t have to be a time-consuming or luxurious — it can be an accessible, simple routine that helps you feel better in your body and mind long-term.

“Women reported a higher average level of stress than men (5.3 versus 4.8 out of 10) and were more likely to rate their stress levels between an 8 and a 10 than men (27% versus 21%).”
(— APA)

The Reality of Stress and Anxiety for Women
It’s no surprise that women frequently report more stress and anxiety than men. According to recent statistics, 23% of women experience stress levels of 8, 9, or 10 on a 10-point scale (APA). Additionally, many women feel their stress levels are on the rise.

Understanding and managing stress effectively can greatly improve your overall well-being.

Reframing Daily Self-Care to Help You Reduce Stress and Anxiety Self-care has often been misrepresented as a luxurious or time-consuming activity.

Many people think of it as something that requires a spa day or elaborate routines, but it’s important to rethink this perception.

Self-care can simply be a daily holistic practice - of breathwork, meditation, and journaling - that helps you manage stress and challenges in a realistic way. By shifting your view on what self-care is from a grand task to a manageable routine, you can start self-healing right at home.

Ready to Start a Realistic Daily Self-Care Routine To Reduce Stress and Anxiety? Take These 3 Important Steps!
As a Yoga Therapist C-IAYT, I help women take charge of their wellness in a way that simple and manageable. Here’s my starting points that I recommend if you’re serious about reducing stress and anxiety:

  1. Be a Silent Witness to Your Stress:

Start by observing how you react to stressful situations without judgment. You might even keep a journal to document how you typically respond. Pay close attention to your emotional and physical responses. This mindfulness will help you understand your unique stress response patterns. 2. Practice Major Self-Compassion (and ditch the self-criticism and judgment):

Did you know that self-criticism can feel like a threat and lead your body to engage in fight, flight, or freeze responses? Instead of criticizing yourself for feeling stressed or anxious, switch to more self-compassion. Acknowledge your feelings with positive self-talk such as: “This is tough, I’m not alone, other people experience this.” This style of response to stressful moments will help soothe anxiety and stress.

Self-compassion offers many researched benefits including:
- Reduces cortisol levels,
- Releases oxytocin (increases feelings of trust, safety, and calm) and opiates (feel good hormones).
- Establishes safety in your body. When you feel safe, you’re in an optimal mind state to do your best.

(— Findings from Kristin Neff, PhD) 3. Develop a Healthier Response Pattern (to stress and anxiety):

After taking time to recognize your stress responses (For example: You might have quite an outward expression like anger or an inward reaction like withdrawal and isolation). Start to explore responding in healthier ways to stressful and anxious moments.

Practical Self-Care Exercises You Can Start At-Home Right Now!1. Meditation:

Incorporate meditation into your daily routine. Even a few minutes a day can help calm your mind and body. 2. BreathWork:

Practice breathing exercises - recommended for stress and anxiety - to regulate your nervous system and reduce stress. Techniques like longer exhales are particularly effective. 3. Gentle Movement:

Engage in gentle activities like yoga, fascia tapping, restorative yoga asanas, walks, or stretching to help release physical tension and promote relaxation in your body. 4. Journaling:

Spend a few minutes journaling your present thoughts and feelings. This will help build self-awareness and boost mindfulness. 5. Positive Self-Talk:

Invite more positive self-talk to reinforce a compassionate mindset and release self-criticism. Simple affirmations like “I am safe” or “I’m feeling stress” can be powerful.

The Importance of Consistency When it Comes to Self-Care Routines
Self-care is most effective when practiced consistently. It’s not enough to rely on occasional massages or quick fixes. Your body needs the repetition and consistent practice to establish feelings of safety and calm.

A daily self-care routine - even 10 minutes per day - can significantly improve your stress levels and overall well-being. If you feel pressed for time, consider that even brief moments of self-care can make a big difference. Self-care can happen in any given moment.

Start Your Self-Care Journey to Reduce Stress and Anxiety Today!

If you’re a woman who already loves yoga or spiritual practices, exploring your sexual energy could be a great next step for you.

If you face challenges with your sexuality—like past trauma, low self-esteem, intimacy issues, or a low sex drive—know that you’re not alone.

No matter your background, age, or experience, every woman can connect with her sexuality to find healing and build confidence.

Let’s dive into a big topic for all women: understanding the deeper meaning of your sexuality.

In a world where women often face slut-shaming, objectification, and control, exploring and embracing your sexuality can be a powerful act of self-care.

Why Does Understanding Your Sexuality Matter?
Sexuality is more than just physical attraction or a sexual activity; it’s a core part of who you are.

Unfortunately, societal norms often complicate this connection. Women’s sexuality is frequently subjected to control, objectification, and shame, which can make it challenging to feel connected to our true selves.

There is an easy way for you to tap into the spirituality of your sexuality and embrace it fully. This journey involves self-discovery and can lead to increased confidence, intimacy, and a deeper understanding of your body.

The Exact Steps To Embodying Your Sexual PowerBefore diving into deeper practices, it’s crucial to start with a sense of safety in your body.

For many, especially those who have experienced trauma, feeling safe is the first step. Here’s how you can begin:

  1. Ask yourself this important question: Do you feel safe and comfortable in your body? If not, focus on daily self-care to calm your nervous system and reduce stress. Practices like grounding breathwork and root chakra exercises can help you reconnect with your body.
  2. Patient Progress: If you’ve experienced trauma or have an imbalanced nervous system, start slowly. Avoid quick fixes or superficial solutions. Instead, focus on foundational practices that help you feel secure and connected.

Building Inner AwarenessOnce you establish a sense of safety, the next step is to build inner awareness.

Understanding your emotions, triggers, and sensations is key to connecting with your sexuality. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Daily Self-Care Practices: Engage in activities that help you tune into your body and emotions. This could include a mix of inner-awareness meditations, journaling, and gentle movement.
  2. Explore Your Sensations: Build awareness to your body’s tensions and feelings. This self-awareness helps you understand what brings you pleasure and confidence.

Exploring the Spirituality of Your Sexuality
As you grow more comfortable and confident, you can explore deeper practices to connect with your sexuality:

  1. Breast and Yoni Meditations: These practices help you tune into your feminine energy and connect with your body on a deeper level.
  2. Tantra and Womb Yoga: Offers practices that focus on channeling your sexual energy. They help you feel more in touch with your body’s rhythms and energies.
  3. Creative Expression: Use your sexuality as a source of creativity and healing. This might include art, writing, or other forms of self-expression.

Breaking Free from Shame, Guilt, and Fear
It’s essential to move beyond the shame and guilt imposed by society. Women’s sexuality has been historically controlled and objectified, leading to a distorted view of what it means to be sexual. Embrace a new mindset:

  1. Release Patriarchal Views: Release from societal expectations and beauty standards. Celebrate your sexuality as a powerful, magical energy.
  2. Empower Yourself: Understand that your sexuality is a source of creativity, healing, and personal power. It’s not limited to physical acts or relationships.

Bottom Line
Embracing and understanding your sexuality is a personal healing journey.

Whether you’re starting fresh or deepening your connection, remember that your sexuality is a beautiful, integral part of who you are. Keep exploring, stay curious, and honor your journey.

I get it - it’s tough. You’re a woman who wants to enjoy your body and pleasure but getting there can be a challenge. You might try the quick fixes like lingerie, dieting, make-overs, a holiday… but this does not get to the root cause of why you’re not experiencing mind-blowing pleasure.

The good news? There’s lots of easy practices like breathwork that you can do at-home to help improve your libido, sex drive, pleasure, and body confidence.

For women, feeling confident in their sexuality is tough for many reasons. Consider societal stigmas such as slut shaming and unreasonable beauty standards, family structures, and religion. A woman’s relationship with her sexuality is complex.

When it comes to having better sex and more pleasure, it starts with healing your relationship with your body.
What you think creates your reality. A gentle starting point to any sexual healing journey is to shine awareness on thoughts, habits, feelings, and emotions when it comes to sex.

Inner-awareness pratices (such as journaling, breathwork, meditation, and somatic exercises) will help you develop awareness to any tensions that are blocking the flow of your sexual energy.

Here are some journal prompts you could explore to build inner awareness:

  • What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to feeling pleasure with a partner or alone?
  • Are you confident in your sexuality or is there self-doubt, shame, guilt, or fear?
  • Can you fully relax and surrender during intimacy with a partner?
  • Do you feel comfortable communicating your likes, turn-ons, and dislikes with a partner?

The most important part to this form of sexual healing is that you release judgement and any need to change what you feel.

Self-compassion is a great healing tool which can help you release emotional tension and find a deeper connection to your sexual energy.

Exploring meditation and breathwork for pelvic floor tone, better sex, and heightened arousal When I started my sexual healing journey, it started small and with gentle curiosity. Yes I’m guilty of going for the quick fixes which now feel quite silly: a new hairstyle, lingerie, supplements! Although these things did ‘do the trick’ for a short moment, I wasn’t getting to the root cause of my issue.

I was a beautiful woman on the outside but on the inside, I felt blocked. I wasn’t confident and I didn’t have any connection to my body. In a way, I was just going through the motions when it comes to sex. It almost became a gift that I gave to men. I never thought to prioritize my pleasure during sex or to explore my own pleasure alone.

So here’s how I started to improve my libido and confidence: I started to take a serious look at my trauma and how to release it. This is not to say that everyone reading this has trauma to release. It could just be that you have a few memories and non-serving thoughts that are blocking you. But most often, there is ‘something’ there blocking the sexual flow.

I committed to a daily yoga and meditation practice to simply connect to my sacral chakra and sexual organs. I realized in this moment that I‘d never really connected to this space with intention. This small new positive habit had a ripple effect. Instead of just doing yoga or breathwork, I focused on breathing with my womb, meditating with her, and exploring gentle movements to open up my pelvis and hips. Things began to feel lighter. I felt more connected to this space.

From here, I began to really honor my feelings and needs. I was slowly aligning with feminine energy and she had a very distinct rhythm. There were phases during the month that I felt more confident and sexual. And there were phases where I felt more closed and inward. I began to honor this flow instead of blindly demanding my body to feel sexual as I wanted it to. This pertains to the seasons as well. During the winter months (or rainy season), I felt myself go inward and restful and I began to honor this phase just as Mother Earth does.

Aligning with feminine energy using simple meditations, breathwork, affirmations, and journaling will help you improve your sex drive
From here, I slowly began to deepen my practices to include pelvic floor breathing exercises (known in tantra yoga as Yoni Bandhas).

It’s important that you approach this as a gentle journey not a race. There’s no point in jumping straight to the breathwork techniques if you’ve not also given space for trauma release and healing first.

The pelvic floor breathwork to improve tone, pleasure, and heighten sexuality: Yoni bandhas
The Yoni bandha breathwork practice involves breathing between gently holding and releasing your pelvic floor muscles. This is not kegels as kegels does not connect breathing and pelvic movement.

The benefits of the yoni bandhas breathing exercise: Improve tone: The tone of a woman’s pelvic floor often weakens after menopause. Lack of tone can also result in prolapse. * Improve pelvic alignment: Improper pelvic alignment (such as tucking the tailbone) can increase the risk of prolapse. * Womb healing: It builds a healthy relationship with a woman’s sexual organs where feelings of shame, guilt, and fear are often stored. * Strengthen the pelvic floor:* Pelvic floor exercises - without other treatment - can improve ailments such as incontinence. Consider that 50% of women with children have prolapse and 10% have symptoms.

There are many types of yoni bandha breathing exercises and womb yoga asanas to explore to improve sex drive.

Watch my Youtube to explore pelvic floor breathwork for better sex here.

  **Bottom Line**

If you’re ready to improve your sex drive, arousal, and pleasure, start small and be patient. Your sexual healing is an exciting journey of discovery and every woman is different. Start with releasing what might be blocking access to your own pleasure. This means a deep dive into any trauma, thought patterns, and feelings that you’re holding onto which can manifest as tensions within your body.

From here, commit to an easy daily practice - 5-10 minutes - to explore womb meditations and womb yoga so you can begin to build a loving relationship with your body and womb. As it feels right in your body, begin to explore the yoni bandha practices. Take it one step at a time.

The words we use have the power to heal or harm us.

All women are guilty of some form of negative self-talk whether it be about their weight, age, or a natural bodily function such as menstruation.
There’s a distinct message in the media regarding women’s beauty standards and from a young age, women are comparing themselves to this impossible standard. Now with social media and filters, the standards are worse.

Perhaps you’re like me, and you’ve become used to random critical self-talk like:

‘You shouldn’t have done that’
‘Why didn’t you do that’
‘Why did you say that?’
’You aren’t worthy of this’

Sometimes negative self-talk can become quite unconscious to the point that you don’t even realize how self-critical you’re being.

There’s a deeper meaning behind negative self-talk. Beneath it lies a core belief which is often non-serving and very untrue.
For example: A core belief of ‘I’m unworthy’ will be supported by your own thoughts:

’My partner left me for someone better’
’I never have good luck’

etc…

When you change your thoughts, you change your core belief.

Your core beliefs represent how you see the world and this is developed from life’s experiences.

When we face a challenge, our core beliefs motivate how we interpret that challenge. Our chosen interpretation is going to determine how we feel emotionally, and from here, our actions are born.

What I find fascinating is that by listening to clients negative self-talk, their thoughts surrounding a current situation will usually trace very far back in their life to a past event. The challenge when it comes to breaking free of negative self-talk is that often people aren’t fully aware of their negative self-talk.

To develop awareness to negative self-talk, it takes commitment to daily mindful practices for the body, mind, and spirit such as: yoga nidra, meditation, and body-awareness exercises. These help you master control of your thoughts.
When a client has a private yoga therapy session with me, I’ll offer them these practices and then invite them to journal and share what they notice. During the practices, they’ll notice certain thoughts pop up as they connect to certain body parts.

For example: I’ll offer a root chakra meditation and ask clients how they feel about this area of their body, and they will share that they feel unsafe, heavy, or disconnected. From here, there’s an opportunity to get curious and understand why they feel this way and where is it stemming from?

It’s impossible to love your body and embrace more confidence when you’re dealing with negative self-talk. Negative self talk blocks confidence, self-compassion, self-acceptance, and joy. It’s a total buzz kill.

Here’s what I discovered many years ago when I decided I was sick of living in self-doubt and fear.

It took consistent body-centred therapy to ‘reveal’ how I was talking to myself. Once I committed to the mindful practices that nurtured my mind, body, and spirit, the negative self-talk began to heal.

I realized I was telling myself many unfair stories on who I couldn't be and how unworthy I was.
I had to allow myself to be seen during this healing journey. I opened up to teachers and community and shared my non-serving self-talk. What was liberating was how many other women also shared these thoughts. Being seen was a part of my healing. Knowing you are not alone is the pathway to a more compassionate way of being.

And here’s where healing my negative self talk began and my confidence ignited.

I committed to weekly mindful practices for the mind, body, and spirt. Through this process of connecting to self - emotionally, spiritually, and physically - I allowed myself to feel vulnerable and be seen.

I needed my self talk to be witnessed to heal. This is why joining some form of a community, finding teachers, etc, is so important to the healing process.

In sharing my negative self-talk and saying it out loud, it became obvious how untrue it was. There’s so much power in saying this stuff out loud and writing it down.

When you ‘shine a light’ on the non-serving thoughts, they lose power.
Of course it wasn’t enough to just say it out loud, but this was a pivotal moment in the healing process.

From here, I committed to a weekly mindful practice for my body, mind, spirt which included:

  • Mindful breathing,
  • Yoga,
  • Gratitude practices,
  • Skillful observation (this is a process of seeing your thoughts as words with no inherent meaning or power).

I also had to record what I was feeling during my weekly practice so I began to journal after my meditations, say things out loud, and share with my community.

The next but most profound step? Inviting new positive thoughts in and releasing the non-serving ones.

My weekly practice helped me grow self-awareness so I could catch my non-serving thoughts as they popped up and as I felt them in my body. I’d take a pause to compassionately tell them ‘you’re not welcome here’. These small new positive habits made a major difference to my confidence because I felt in such control of my thoughts and feelings.

My inner-awareness practices helped me realize that my own thoughts were a bully I’d created within me that was affecting my confidence, relationships, and joy.
Once you can identify your negative self-talk, you can challenge the core belief and invite new positive thoughts in. This takes time, consider that some of these thoughts are deeply engrained in your being. The key is patience and lots of self-compassion.

When it comes to the power of your thoughts, there is plenty of science and research behind it. Have you heard of neuroplasticity?

Neuroplasticity refers to your brains ability to change. Things that help your brain change are:

  • Exercise,
  • Adequate sleep,
  • Good nutrition,
  • Managing stress,
  • Practicing the things you want to enforce in your brain.

You can absolutely change your brain, you can grow your brain. But you must stay consistent with the new positive habits. It’s like paving a path in the forest, you have to trim the grass and keep the path clear each week. Your mind is constantly rewiring. Exercise, meditation, sleep, yoga, and good food all make a difference to your brain.

Bottom Line:
Thoughts determine how we feel in our bodies. Beneath non-serving thoughts lies a healing journey to reveal your core beliefs that were formed from a younger age. With a bit of self-compassion, guidance, and a mindful weekly practice, you can absolutely release those non-serving thoughts and find more confidence and joy in your body.

Are you serious about loving your body more and feeling more confident?

Start with an inner-awareness practice. Take 5-10 minutes each day to explore a few practices that nourish your mind, body, and spirit. For example: guided meditation, gentle movement, yoga nidra, journaling, affirmations, breathwork.

I offer private online yoga therapy which can dive into this healing journey and provide you with the support, tools, and techniques for long-term success.

Remember, when you’re self-critical, you turn on your stress response and touch on the fight or flight part of your brain. It’s not possible to feel confident and connected to your body when you’re in this state.
So the next time you notice a non-serving thought, consider how this is affecting your self-love and confidence.

Change your thoughts, change your confidence and self-love.

For anyone seeking to treat trauma, anxiety, or depression, the variety of therapies out there can feel quite overwhelming.

In this blog, I’m breaking down:* How Yoga Therapy can help you manage trauma, anxiety, and depression. * The benefits of somatic healing exercises * How to choose a qualified Yoga Therapist

I used to feel so overwhelmed when it comes to finding a Therapist for my needs. So many questions came up: How do I know what form of therapy is best for my needs? How can I trust them? And what about online therapy, is it as effective?

I used to experience anxiety, depression, period health issues, and feelings of low self-worth. I was open to working on these things but clueless on what form of therapy and healing to choose. So I tried everything including medication, talk therapy (psychotherapy), yoga, and meditation.

I discovered that my healing required an approach which focused on mental, emotional, and physical wellness all at once.
The challenge I found with talk therapy (psychotherapy) is that I wasn’t at a stage of being able to even use language to express how I was feeling. I needed to simply feel and be in my body. Did you know that the area of the brain responsible for language can shut down when people get close to the story of their trauma? This wisdom helped me understand why I wasn’t having much success in my talk therapy sessions.

Once I started a body-centred therapy **(yoga therapy)**, I was able to just feel and notice how my breathing, body tension, and thoughts were affecting my wellbeing. From here, my physical and mental health began to improve.

For example: If you’re experiencing anxiety, this is felt in the mind and also in your body. Physical symptoms include:

  • An elevated sympathetic nervous system sensitivity.
  • Decreased parasympathetic nervous system.
  • Decreased heart rate variability.

So, while talk therapy is wonderful for mental health. Your body also requires holistic practices that stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system and heart rate variability.

This is where somatic therapy comes in as a powerful approach to one’s healing journey for a range of issues: anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress, pelvic health, and more.

Talk therapy (psychotherapy) treats the mind, while somatic therapy treats the mind, body, and spirit. What Is Yoga Therapy | Somatic Healing?
There are so many different types of somatic therapy out there. I’m sharing insights on: Yoga Therapy.

Somatic Therapy is “a treatment focusing on the body and how emotions appear within the body." "Somatic therapies posit that our body holds and expresses experiences and emotions, and traumatic events or unresolved emotional issues can become 'trapped' inside." Says Amanda Baker, director of the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders | Clinical psychologist in the department of psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Health article)

Yoga Therapy specifically applies yoga tools including: postures, breathwork, meditation techniques, and more to address your physical, mental, and emotional needs. You might think of yoga as just a physical practice all about stretching or movement? But Yoga Therapy is quite a different offering.

Yoga Therapy draws on a combination of therapeutic somatic-based techniques to help you become more mindful of your body, emotions, habits, and thoughts.

These therapy sessions are gentle and trauma-informed. A private space for you to feel seen and heard as you navigate your journey to feeling you best.

**What happens inside a private yoga therapy session?**

A certified yoga therapist helps clients release emotional and physical tension in their body using various mind-body techniques such as yoga nidra, breathwork, body awareness, guided meditation, affirmations, asanas, and inner-awareness exercises.

A client might book a private yoga therapy session with a wellness goal to treat trauma, chronic pain, or mental health. A session with a yoga therapist might include a mix of:

  • Physical practices such as breathing techniques for nervous system regulation and heart rate variability and stretches to release tensions within nerves and muscles.
  • Emotional/mental health practices such as journal tracking and affirmations to build inner-awareness to one’s own thoughts, feelings, and emotions surrounding their illness.
  • Spiritual practices such as guided meditations and Yoga Nidra to reduce stress, boost mindfulness, and balance hormones.

Ultimately, the client is provided with active-healing tools so they can self-regulate their illness or challenge during the session and from home.

A Yoga Therapist will provide the client with a small at-home program (typically 10 minutes long) which allows them to do the practices from home on a consistent basis.

When it comes to healing, success lies in the commitment to a consistent daily practice (for mind, body, and spirit) to reduce symptoms.
Clients receive research-backed somatic exercises that are shown to regulate the nervous system, balance hormones, release tensions, and modify any non-serving thought patterns or habits. Clients gain a greater sense of self-control to manage responses to various stimuli.

What are the somatic healing exercises explored in private yoga therapy? There are so many! But one powerful breathwork is the Bhramari Pranayama (also known as the humming-bee breathing technique) is very soothing. Research shows that it effectively stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, helps reduce heart rate and blood pressure (Pramanik et al., 2010).

Another study shows that Bhramari Pranayama elicits neurological activity involved in mental processes such as attention, working memory, learning, and conscious perception. (from AJNA Yoga)

**Who May Benefit From Yoga Therapy | Somatic Healing?**

Just about anyone can benefit from Yoga Therapy, in fact,

“Recent research has pointed to somatic therapy as being effective when used as a treatment for trauma and/or post-traumatic stress disorder”

(Forbes Health Article: www.forbes.com/health/mind/somatic-therapy)

People of all ages and identities can greatly benefit from private yoga therapy. It supports a vast range of physical and mental health issues including:

  • Depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem issues.
  • Trauma
  • Chronic pain and fatigue,
  • Period cramps, irregularity, heavy bleeding, PCOS, endometriosis
  • Fertility awareness
  • Pre/post natal support
  • Cysts, fibroids, yeast infection,
  • Deepening connection to body and mindfulness

…and more.

What to Look for in a Yoga Therapist?
If you’ve searched online, you may find yourself inundated with the amount of healers, teachers, and practitioners. But how can you trust them? Healing can not happen when you don’t feel safe and choosing the wrong practitioner is common.

Here’s a few things to look for:

  • Is your Yoga Therapist licensed? For example: The International Association of Yoga Therapists provides a C-IAYT certification to all registered practitioners.
  • Has your Yoga Therapist completed trauma-informed training? The languaging and sensitivity of your chosen therapist makes a major difference to creating that safe space for healing.
  • What school did the Yoga Therapist study with? Don’t be afraid to ask and then research the reputation of the school.
  • Check their reviews: Take a look at the Therapists Google and/or Facebook reviews to hear feedback from real clients and build your consensus.

Bottom Line:If you’re someone seeking support for trauma release, anxiety, depression, or just ready to feel more mindful and present, yoga therapy is an approach that you might love. Although it’s not mainstream just yet, it's definitely increasing in popularity as the benefits of mindfulness and yoga are researched and books such as ‘The body keeps the score’ are widely known.

The benefits of yoga therapy are studied, and can be applied to a range of ages, identities, and experiences.

Discovering the link between your emotions, thoughts, and how this affects your body and vice versa is incredibly empowering for everyone.

You’ve rid yourself of a bad relationship. Maybe it was toxic or abusive. But the energy and the memories still remain. Although you’re ready to move forward and heal, you still feel their energy in your thoughts, dreams, and body.

How can you truly cleanse your body and womb after a breakup and start fresh?
You may have explored therapy sessions or self-help books but there’s an important aspect to healing your womb and body from a past lover after a breakup.

Consider sex as an energetic exchange, it’s not just a physical experience, but an exchange of one’s energy and emotions.

Women are receivers and when you receive a partners energy during sex, their energy includes the unhealed parts of them (this is known as the shadow self).

Have you ever felt drained from a partner or feeling emotions you don’t normally feel? When you don’t have strong boundaries in place, it’s common to feel drained by the emotions and energy of others.

Think of your womb as a sacred temple. She requires consistent practice to keep her feeling healthy, light, and balanced. This is where a womb cleansing ritual comes in handy. (The womb is your sexual organs and/or reproductive organs. In sanskrit, this space is known as the yoni).

Too often women experience bad relationships yet completely ignore their womb when it comes to the healing journey and moving forward. Sex is an energetic exchange and your womb is housing that exchange. Sadly, in modern society where casual sex is promoted, the harms of exchanging energy with a toxic lover are largely ignored.

If you’re healing from a bad relationship or partner and truly ready to move forward feeling lighter and more freedom in your body, a womb cleansing ritual is your perfect starting point. From here, a consistent yoga practice with asanas to nurture your pelvic health will keep you feeling connected and balanced with your womb.

Most women don't take time to connect to their womb because we don't live in a society that uplifts the feminine or encourages young girls to love their bodies in this way.

When you invite rituals to cleanse your womb and send her love, you open a gateway to a more compassionate way of being.

I’m Joss, a Yoga Therapist C-IAYT. I help women from around the world start healing and rediscover their body with more confidence and joy.

Many years ago, when I first stumbled upon womb meditations, I was suffering from depression, anxiety, period pains, and unhealed abuse from past partners.

I tried everything to heal from these experiences from medication to therapy to self-help books. After only a few womb meditations at a yoga centre in Thailand, I noticed something dramatic. Things were surfacing for me. Memories I thought I had forgotten, feelings I didnt realize I had, and a sadness that I thought I’d moved on from.

What I discovered is that all of these sensations were living in my womb.

I didn't know they were there because I’d never connected to my womb… ever.

Sure, I’d practiced yoga for many years, but never had the teacher invited us to connect to our womb. It was like I was connecting to a part of my body for the first time ever, and she had lots to say. She was calling out for my compassion and awareness. I immediately began to explore womb meditations every day and I journaled everything that was coming up for me. My womb was feeling neglected, used, hurt, forgotten.

From here it was a rabbit hole of discovery. I began to study feminine energy and tantra spirituality, I was fascinated with the power of my womb. How had I believed for my whole life that my womb was essentially an annoyance. I’m someone who complained about my period and menopause on the daily. Now I was learning that these experiences were actually my power? It was a complete mindset shift. The mindset shift and the daily womb meditations ignited my healing. My period cramps began to ease up, I felt more freedom in my body, and my entire sacral chakra (womb and pelvic region) felt lighter.

My womb healing journey was so profound that I wrote a feminine energy course detailing the exact steps I took so all women could explore it. I became a Yoga Therapist C-IAYT so I could professionally support women with my private online yoga therapy and help them heal too.

HOW to DETACH and Let Go (using your feminine energy to guide you)

Ever felt this: Stuck in the past, clinging to a relationship, or unable to grieve a loss?

Letting go is never easy!!

When I began to explore my own healing and understanding my feminine energy, I discovered something so profound about letting go.

I discovered that feminine energy is the ‘cheat code’ for knowing how to let go.
Here’s what you need to know about feminine energy, it’s works in cycles. There’s no beginning or end. Its just this constant rhythm and flow. It’s peaceful.

The qualities of feminine energy include surrender, openness, and movement.

Now, think about the qualities of someone who can NOT let go: clinging, resisting, refusing denying.

If you’re someone who can’t let go, you’ll benefit from understanding your feminine energy and learning how to embody it.
A person who’s aligned with their feminine energy embodies an open heart, mindfulness, and acceptance. When you’re in your feminine power, it becomes naturally easier to let go because you already embody those qualities. You understand that life supports you to surrender and let go. It is safe to do so.

Examples of feminine energy include the moon phases, seasons, and the period cycle.
Feminine energy exists within us and also externally in the universe! Sadly, there’s a heavy focus on masculine energy in society so it’s quite common for people to have no idea have to be in their feminine energy.

Suffering happens when we believe we are disconnected from everything around us. If you’re someone who struggles with letting go of partners, experiences, and relationships, start with your inner healing and knowing YOU on a deeper, more spiritual level. Once you understand your feminine energy and how it supports you and the universe, you will experience a greater acceptance when it comes to letting go.

Next Steps to Become a Master at Letting Go:Learn more about the online course to Ignite Your Feminine Power: 10 transformational audio lessons that gently guide you to IGNITE your feminine energy and confidence.... How To Treat PCOS Naturally with Womb Yoga Therapy
OK, let’s dive into PCOS. It’s just one of many womb-related illnesses that’s not understood or treated properly by the medical system. I’m a Yoga Therapist specializing in womb health and I work with many clients in my 1-1 Yoga Therapy sessions who are seeking natural remedies to manage their PCOS… after going in circles with Doctors!

I’ve witnessed dramatic improvement in clients after incorporating a daily yogic practice for PCOS. It’s very possible!

PCOS is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. The cause of PCOS is not fully understood. If you’re experiencing amenorrhoea (no periods) or oligomenorrhea (scanty periods), PCOS is suggested as the most common cause.

Signs and Symptoms of PCOS* Numerous small cysts and a thickened surface layer in your ovaries * Increased testosterone and low estrogen * Excess body hair and acne * Fertility issues

People experiencing fertility issues are supported - by Doctors - with drugs such as Clomid which stimulates ovulation.

What I hear most often with the clients I work with is that they’re confused and frustrated with PCOS. Doctors are putting them on medication but they’re not finding relief.

Almost ALWAYS when I work with a client experiencing PCOS, I discover that they have no emotional or spiritual practice to connect with their period cycle or womb. In yogic philosophy, everything has a mind-body-spirit connection. So when looking at illness, it’s not enough to just treat your physical body. You must also treat your emotional and spiritual illness. When it comes to PCOS, the emotional and spiritual healing of your womb goes often completely ignored.

(Simple practices to access the emotional and spiritual healing include: journal tracking, moon rituals, writing letters to your womb).

Here’s How Yoga Therapy Can Treat PCOS Naturally:
Yoga Therapy offers a bio-psychosocial approach to reduce or manage the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of PCOS. When you commit to a daily practice which positively supports the physical and emotional health of your womb, things can shift dramatically!

Here’s An Example Of Suggested Yoga Therapy Practices You Can Do At-Home To Treat PCOS Naturally: Begin respectful awareness of your period cycle (if you have one) via journal tracking practices. * Womb Yoga to facilitate a positive relationship with your menstrual and/or womb health. This style of yoga offers a compassionate approach to helping you develop period cycle awareness and/or womb awareness. * Understand your inner period rhythms* (AKA: seasons) and treat each phase with respect.

What does an online Yoga Therapy session look like?

What is 1-1 Yoga Therapy? Is it just a private yoga class?
Nope! Yoga Therapy is not a private yoga class. In fact, it’s very different. Private Yoga Therapy shares far more similarities with a traditional therapy session than it does with a yoga class.

Yoga Therapy is still a relatively new form of therapy which focuses on the body and breath as a resource for healing and improving health. It is a bio-psychosocial approach meaning the clients illness or challenge is looked at from all angles: how it shows up in the mind, the emotions, the physical body, and the spirit.

Here’s an example of a 1-1 Yoga Therapy session:
A client could book a 1-1 Yoga Therapy session with a wellness goal to reduce their period pain. A session with a Yoga Therapist might include a mix of:

  • Physical practices: such as stretches to release the nerves and muscles around the pelvis,
  • Emotional practices: such as journal awareness tracking to better understand each cycle day,
  • Spiritual practices: such as womb meditations and womb yoga nidra to reduce stress and balance hormones.

Based on the intake form a client submits, A Yoga Therapist will research and prepare your session tailored to your illness or issue Yoga Therapy follows a very similar process to a traditional therapy session or a physio session. Based on the intake form a client submits, a 1-1 session is personalized to support that client’s specific illness, health challenge, or wellness goal.

A Yoga Therapist will guide you through a gentle, personalized holistic practice that uses research-backed techniques for your specific illness or challenge. Techniques include a mix of western psychology and potent tools of yoga to improve your body function and emotional state.

Yoga Therapy taps into research-backed holistic practices suggested to reduce symptoms, prevent injury, and restore optimal wellness in clients. Practices include:* Breathing techniques * Physical postures for: stretching, lengthening, and strengthening * Fascia tapping * Guided meditations and Yoga Nidra for: mindfulness, hormonal balance, reducing anxiety, and more * Holistic practices for nervous system regulation * Inner-awareness exercises: journal inquiries, affirmations, and more * Embodiment and conscious touch exercises * and more!

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?Research suggests it’s just as effective… and many people prefer it! Some of the benefits of online therapy include it’s:

  • More convenient
  • More affordable
  • More approachable and accessible

So, what’s the difference between a Yoga Therapy session and a traditional therapy session?
If you're someone who’s explored a traditional Talk Therapy session (counsellor, psychoanalysis, CBT, etc) you might be craving this additional piece to your healing journey…

Your healing journey and optimal wellness might benefit from BODY and BREATH therapy.

Here’s an example Yoga Therapy session (body & breath therapy) and how it can ignite healing in mind, body, and spirit:
For example: A mental health challenge such as ANXIETY will create symptoms in the mind, body, and spirit:

  • Anxiety symptoms in the mind could include: Difficulty concentrating, difficulty controlling feelings of worry, easily fatigued, difficulty falling or staying asleep.
  • Anxiety symptoms in the spirit could include: Feeling on-edge, difficult to rest into the present moment.
  • Anxiety symptoms in the physical body could include: physical tension in the body, shorter breathing patterns, headaches, muscle aches, stomach aches, or unexplained pains, elevated sympathetic nervous system (stress response) sensitivity.

So, although Talk Therapy session can be wonderful (especially Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), a 1-1 Yoga Therapy session may offer a refreshing form of healing and support since it offers so many wonderful tools for the mind, body, and spirit combined.

You might LOVE private Yoga Therapy because it uses the body as a gateway to healing with research-backed breathing techniques, body movements, meditations, yoga nidra, affirmations, and more...all to target your issue.

Yoga Therapy is a therapy session for your body and breath that uses breathing techniques, gentle movement, affirmations, nervous system techniques, and more
A yoga therapist provides specific research-backed practices to address your illness or condition.

What’s the difference between a Yoga Teacher and a Yoga Therapist?
A Yoga Teacher typically teaches healthy, able-bodied individuals in a group setting. Most teachers have a 200 or 500 hour certification.

A Yoga Therapist has an 800 hour certification (minimum) and has also completed a 50 hour practicum that typically takes 6 months - one year. A Yoga Therapist works with with individuals in private sessions on a specific illness, challenge, or wellness goal. A Yoga Therapist has additional credentials and studies to work with clients on specific illnesses or challenges.

Who’s online Yoga Therapy For?Honestly… everyone! People of all ages could greatly benefit from 1-1 Yoga Therapy. It supports a vast range of physical and mental health issues including:

  • Chronic pain and fatigue,
  • Period cramps, irregularity, heavy bleeding
  • Fertility awareness
  • Pre/post natal support
  • Cysts, fibroids, yeast infection
  • PCOS,
  • Depression, anxiety, stress,
  • Deepening connection to body, sexuality, creativity, and womb,
  • and more.

What are the benefits of Yoga Therapy? Empowers you to be your own inner healer with easy practices you can continue beyond the sessions. * Empowers you to continue your self-care beyond the sessions: You’ll receive a 10 minute at-home program with audio guides* so you can easily continue the practices from the comfort of your home. * Accesses healing of the body, mind, and spirit. * Affordable, accessible, and approachable form of therapy.

20 minute Womb Yoga practice to feel more sexy and confident in your body

Finally! A yoga practice to support your pelvic and womb health and get sensual energy flowing optimally. Carve out some sacred time to experience confident connection to your sacred feminine body. Get your sexual energy flowing in only 20 minutes with this practice for all ages and levels of experience.

Inside this practice, you’ll explore 4 gentle standing poses to open up through your pelvic region and a few seated practices to connect with your sacred womb temple. Expect a very flowing and expressive combination of movements that will help you connect with your body.

If any of this sounds like you, you’ll benefit from this womb yoga practice for igniting body confidence and sensual connection:* Feeling disconnected from your feminine body. * Feeling emotional tensions in your body from shame, guilt, doubt, anger, and more. * Confused or frustrated with your body due to period challenges or womb-related illness (fibroids, cysts, etc). * Fearful or doubtful when it comes to feeling sexually confident in your body.

What’s the difference between Womb Yoga and regular yoga?Did you know that most modern yoga practices are based on a very ancient practice designed for the male body?I discovered very early on that general yoga classes just did not support my feminine body the way that I was craving. It inspired me to study and teach a style of yoga called Womb Yoga.

Womb Yoga is so wonderful because it includes asanas which connect you to your breasts, pelvis, and reproductive organs in a way that’s gentle and loving. It’s a chance to use yoga in a way that builds confident connection to your sacred feminine body and get your sexual energy flowing.

Tap the above video to try it right now. In only 20 MINUTES, you’re going to feel so liberated and excited to be in your feminine body!

You do not need a physical womb to practice womb yoga
Womb yoga can be quite a healing practice for anyone who’s had a hysterectomy. Or for those who identify as Trans, Non-Binary, or Two-Spirit and do not have a physical womb… the womb yoga practices are equally as powerful as they invite you to connect to the energetic space of the womb.

If you’re someone who practices yoga, does your yoga practice respect and honor your feminine experiences such as: menstruation, pregnancy, female sexuality, and menopause?
I see so many people disrespect their bodies in the name of fitness. But ignoring and avoiding the cyclical needs of the feminine body has led to a plethora of pelvic health challenges ranging from cysts to fibroids to PCOS.

For example: Pushing your body to workout or do yoga during your period is to deny the needs of your feminine body. You’ll feel far healthier and confident in your body when you honor your cyclical body by aligning with days of rest and inward time vs days of high-energy and expansiveness.

What happens in a womb yoga class? There are so many varieties of womb yoga classes such as womb yoga for during your period, womb yoga for sexual confidence, and womb yoga for peri-menopause. But, a general womb yoga class might include:

  • Meditations to connect to your heart and womb space
  • Rhythmic expressive movement to let your body and energy move freely as it wants to
  • Asanas for strengthening and/or lengthening your pelvic area
  • Breathing techniques to align with your pelvic diaphragm
  • Guided meditations to promote inner-awareness
  • Yoga Nidra for connecting to your body (could include breasts and reproductive organs)

How can womb yoga help you feel sexy and confident in your body?
Feeling sexy and connected to your body is quite a deep, spiritual experience. It goes far beyond buying sexy clothes or changing your hair style. It’s actually about committing to a daily ritual that nurtures your feminine body, mind, and spirit.

A typical daily practice for feeling more confident in your body could be as short as 5-10 minutes per day. It could include a few poses to access your pelvic movement, some breathing to connect to your womb, and some journaling to be present with your feeling, emotions, and cycle day (if you menstruate).

A daily practice to feel sexy and confident in your body is simple but potent. Anyone can do this! All ages and all levels of experience.

A daily womb yoga practice helps you stay consistent with the holistic practices that keep you feeling your best in your body.

I have a 10-lesson course which guides women to create their very own tailored daily practice filled with the holistic womb yoga practices that help you feel your most confident and expansive.

Want to explore a womb yoga for feeling sensual and confident in your body right now?
Watch the above 20 minute yoga practice. It’s gentle, fun, and for all ages. I’ll show you how to connect with your body in a way that’s loving and kind. Enjoy!

“To be a sexual woman in our culture now is to be a woman who looks a certain way in order to elicit sexual desire in others. It has nothing to do with the inner arising of our own feelings and experiences.”(― Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, Yoni Shakti )

What makes a woman sexually confident?
Take your journals out! I’m going to share the DO’s and DON’Ts of the sexually empowered woman with you. These divine feminine wisdoms will help you ignite more sexual confidence in bed, feel more connected to your sacred feminine body, and deepen intimacy with your partner.

I’ve also got an epic 10 minute after-sex meditation that you can explore alone or with a partner (Head to the 9:00 mark on the above video to dive straight into the meditation with me).

I was inspired to write this blog after reminiscing on those odd moments directly after sex! I see this as a super delicate time which can either be utilized to deepen intimacy with your partner and self OR to create distance and doubt between partners.

For example: You just had sex and only moments later, your partner jumps up and runs to the bathroom, grabs their phone, etc. Your partner looks totally uninvolved in your or the intimate act that just transpired.

That moment - after sex - is a powerful cosmic space you can utilize to ignite sexual healing, boost body connection, and deepen intimacy with your partner.
Before we dive into ‘that moment’, let’s explore the qualities of the empowered woman who enjoys mindful empowering sex.

Because whoever is reading this, you can absolutely feel more sexual confidence. It’s just a matter of understanding your divine, sacred feminine body a bit more and knowing the feminine-focused womb yoga practices that celebrate your sexual power.

It’s about being mindful and intentional with your body and the act of sex.

Treating moments such as after sex as truly divine are your perfect starting point. (I show you exactly how to do this in the above YouTube video).

The top qualities of a sexually confident and empowered woman: She does NOT fake her orgasm EVER. Her orgasm is a cosmic exchange with the universe not to be faked. * She does NOT open her divine feminine body and sacred womb temple to anyone when she is tired, restful, or inward. (For example: She’s on her period and feeling very tired and inward). She listens to her body and never works against her powerful cyclical rhythm. * She unapologetically prioritizes her pleasure and makes sure she also thoroughly enjoys sex with her partner. Otherwise what is the point? * She is confident expressing her needs and has no problem communicating what she likes and dislikes in bed. * She understands the power of intimacy and of her sexual energy (because she took the time to learn the spirituality of her sexuality. You can learn this too when you take my 10-lesson course).* She understands how powerful and sacred her sexual energy and womb are** therefore she’s cautious of who she exchanges her energy with.

Embodying the above qualities takes time and it’s not set in stone. Sometimes you’ll follow these qualities, sometimes you won’t.

It’s a gentle cyclical experience of growing. Practice gratitude for where you’re at right now and trust that small steps in the right direction are all you need to do to feel more sexual confidence.

A woman who’s in her divine sexual power prioritizes her pleasure, she listens to her body’s needs, and she treats sex as a part of her sacred ritual…
Sex is a transmission with the creative and sexual energies of the universe (to learn about this divine feminine wisdom, take my 10-lesson course). There’s so much to discover, I couldn’t possibly share it all here but please enjoy this blog as your perfect starting point in the direction of your sexual confidence journey. The wisdom shared in the course transformed my confidence, sexual experiences, and relationships.

If you’re ready to feel more sexual confidence, take it slow and start here:1. Open your journal and note down the qualities of the empowered woman - from above - and notice what you want to focus on the most. Book a free 30 minute discovery call with me to explore how you can get support with your goals to feel more sexual confidence. You do not have to do this alone. 2. Next, watch my YouTube and explore the 10-min after sex meditation (at the 9:00 minute mark). Don’t worry, you don’t have to literally do the meditation right after sex. Try it as a ‘practice round’ and take lots of notes! The meditation will help you feelmore connected to your body, sexual confidence, and boost intimacy with your partner.

About the After-Sex MeditationThe after sex meditation has a Root/Muladhara Chakra focus. It’s very earthy based to balance out the act of sex which aligns strongly with the element of water.

The after-sex meditation helps you feel grounded. It brings you back into your body where you can take time for reflection, connection to your sacred feminine anatomy, and inner-awareness.

The after-sex meditation includes:

  1. A grounding breathing exercise.

  2. A grounding pose to connect with your divine feminine body.

  3. A womb yoga breathing exercise to connect with your vulva and cervix.

  4. Vocal Affirmation repetition: I can own my sexuality and pleasure!

  5. BONUS: Introduce an earthy smell such as lighting an essential oil or smelling a flower/plant (I explain more about this in the video).

The affirmation of the sexually confident woman: ’I prioritize my pleasure. I listens to my body’s needs. Sex is a part of my sacred ritual.’

How does it feel to say that affirmation out loud?

If hesitations or doubts pop up… trust that it’s all part of the healing process. Note those doubts down in your journal and book a free 30 minute discovery call with me to get support in your womb healing and divine feminine empowerment journey.

If you’re ready to awaken your divine sexual confidence, start here: Open your journal and note down the qualities of the empowered woman (from above).* Reflect on what quality you want to work on. Reach out to me for next steps. You’re invited to Book a free 30 minute discovery call. You do not have to do this alone. * Watch my Youtube and explore the meditation within it: How to be more confident in bed!

It’s time to understand your body on a deeper level so you can feel authentic sexual confidence from within.

No matter who you are reading this, you can absolutely feel sexually confident in bed. It truly starts with understanding the spirituality of your sexuality and learning how to nurture your divine feminine body every single day.

Enjoy! Joss

“Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we FEEL is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going on inside ourselves.”(― Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score)

My name is Joss Frank and I offer a form of yoga called Yoga Therapy (Body Therapy). It’s so wonderful because it includes breathing and nervous system techniques which allows you to improve your mental health in a way that’s gentle and natural. '

This is your chance to unblock stuck emotions with my gentle 12-minute yoga practice. Tap below to try it right now. In only 12 minutes, you’re going to feel lighter and more peaceful in your body!

We’ve all had those feelings: a heavy sad heart or perhaps fiery anger in your belly. It took me so long to realize that avoiding my tough emotions was only giving them a cozy permanent home inside my sacred body.

It’s true what they say ‘You gotta feel it to heal it’
All emotions are valid. There’s a tendency to avoid certain emotions or label them as ‘bad’. This has a counter-productive effect because any act in resistance only amplifies and gives it power. For example: You suppress and bottle up your anger. What happens next? Usually an explosion of anger channeled inappropriately. We’ve all been there!

The path to releasing tough emotions - such as anger and sadness - is to prioritize a daily inner awareness practice.
An inner-awareness practice could be 5 minutes to sit and breath slow and notice how your heart feels. Or laying down to slowly breathe and notice where you feel tension in your body. As a Yoga Therapist, I offer loads of varieties of inner-awareness techniques to support different needs.

Being with all of your emotions every single day with no judgement and noticing where you feel your emotions in your body will dramatically improve how your emotions feel in your body. Instead of feeling tension, you can invite feelings of lightness and peace in. You deserve that!

If you’re ready to let go of some tough emotions, start here:* Make a promise to yourself to be compassionate instead of judgemental towards ALL your feelings * Do not label your feelings as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ * Give yourself space to feel what you need to feel instead of avoiding or resisting. * Do my 12-minute gentle practice to unblock stuck emotions on Youtube

It’s time to get curious about your emotions. Notice the sensations, where do you feel your emotions in your body, start a loving conversation with them! No more avoiding or denying your feelings if you’re ready to feel more confident and peaceful in your body.

Want to explore releasing stuck emotions from your body right now?
Watch the above 12-minute gentle practice. It’s gentle and nurturing. I’ll show you how to connect with your body and emotions in a way that’s loving and kind.

Hi! I’m Joss Frank, founder of Wild Womb. I understand how womb and body healing ignites when you look within for guidance because I self-healed from my painful periods, depression, anxiety, sexual assault, emotional and physical abuse… after years of failed efforts to feel better about myself. My failed efforts led to a revelation that true healing comes from within and it requires loving community.

Today, as a Yoga Therapist in my practicum, I help people with womb and body healing so they can reclaim their feminine power, LOVE their sacred feminine bodies, and feel more confident.

[Scroll down to practice it now] Did you know that most modern yoga practices are based on a very ancient practice designed for the male body? My name is Joss Frank and I offer a style of yoga called Womb Yoga. It’s so wonderful because it includes asanas which connect you to your breasts, pelvis, and reproductive organs in a way that’s gentle and loving. This is your chance to explore confident connection to your sacred feminine body and get your sexual energy flowing. Tap below to try it right now. In only 8 MINUTES, you’re going to feel liberated and excited to be in your body!

What is Womb Yoga?
Womb yoga is a style of yoga inspired by the qualities of feminine energy. It includes more freedom to move intuitively with the needs of your body vs the rigid military-like instruction that a modern yoga class commonly offers. Womb yoga asks you to look within and move with your body instead of against it.

For example: If you’re in a womb yoga class and it’s the second day of your period, you could move in a gentle, more restful way to ensure you nurture the needs of your body. Or, if you are in a womb yoga class and experiencing menopause, you could explore variations of poses and breathing that support your body’s needs. Overall, a womb yoga class recognizes and honors the needs of the ever-changing feminine body.

You do not need a physical womb to practice womb yoga
Womb yoga can be quite a healing practice for anyone who’s had a hysterectomy. Also for those who identify as Trans, Non-Binary, or Two-Spirit and do not have a physical womb…the womb yoga practices are equally as powerful as they invite you to connect to the energetic space of the womb.

So, if you’re someone who practices yoga, does your yoga practice respect and honor the feminine experiences such as: menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause? I see so many people disrespect their bodies in the name of fitness. But ignoring and avoiding the cyclical needs of the feminine body has led to a plethora of pelvic health challenges ranging from cysts to fibroids to PCOS. Pushing your body to work-out or do yoga during your period - for example - is to deny the needs of your own body. Honoring that you are a cyclical being means aligning with days of rest and inward time and following your days of high-energy and expansiveness.

It’s actually about committing to a daily ritual that nurtures your body, mind, and soul.

A typical daily ritual for deepening your relationship with your body could be as short as 5-10 minutes per day. It could include a few poses to access your pelvic movement, some breathing to connect to your womb, and some journaling to be present with your feeling, emotions, and cycle day (if you menstruate).

A daily ritual to feel sexy and connected to your body is simple but potent. It offers a way to stay consistent with the holistic practices (including womb yoga) that keep you feeling your best in your body.

I have a 10-lesson course which guides women to create their very own tailored ritual filled with the holistic practices that help them feel their most confident and expansive.

Want to explore a womb yoga for feeling sensual and confident in your body right now?
Watch the above 8 minute yoga practice. It’s gentle, fun, and for all ages. I’ll show you how to connect with your body in a way that’s loving and kind. Enjoy!

Most of us are taught to feel shame, guilt, and fear about our own bodies. A vital step to truly owning your feminine power is releasing from your past and learning the spirituality of your feminine body. There are powerful Womb Yoga and Tantra practices which can help you through this empowering and healing process.

Do you desire to feel more confidence and freedom in your body? You’re not alone!

So often I hear from women who long to be the woman they know they are: expressive, sensual, assertive, strong, and more.

I struggled with this for years! I was so fed up with trying to feel how I wanted to feel. I literally tried everything: from pole dancing lessons, to courses, to self-help books. But I was still feeling less than fabulous… and quite frustrated.

The KEY step I see so many women unknowingly skip in their effort tap into their feminine power and confidence
The key step is a gentle process to UNLEARN what you’ve been taught to believe about your feminine body, and to LET GO of the self-limiting thoughts, self-doubt, and self-criticism.

This key step is often referred to as Shadow Work.

“Shadow work is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on the “shadow self,” which is the parts of the psyche that people often keep hidden. The psychoanalyst Carl Jung first developed the concept.” (Medical News Today)

There are Yoga Therapy and Tantra inspired practices which offer a gentle body-focused approach to this vital process of letting go. When you have a supported process to explore letting go of the thoughts, stories, and tensions which no longer serve you, you’re literally removing the blocks between you and your divine feminine power within.

I recommend exploring shadow work and ‘letting go’ in a way that’s GENTLE and trauma informed.I experienced many ‘healers’ who offered quite intrusive and frightening shadow work techniques for releasing and letting go. I tried these techniques and they actually re-traumatized me and did more damage than good.

For that reason, I offer my shadow work process (module 1 of my 10-lesson online course) using gentle womb yoga therapy and tantra inspired practices. It’s a patient, gentle, and supported process.

You can explore shadow work in a way that’s gentle, trauma-informed, patient, and loving. This is the key step that finally allowed me to feel confident and radiate my feminine power.
It’s common for women to carry heavy feelings (like shame, guilt, and self-doubt) in their womb area (the space of your reproductive and sexual organs). Society guilts women from a young age about their natural functioning feminine body. Think about the guilt and embarassment about periods. Or the shame associated with a woman’s sexuality, aging, or menopause. We’re engrained with the feelings of shame, guilt, fear, and self-doubt.

And it’s impossible to jump straight into feeling more confident and mastering your feminine power when you're holding on to these heavy feelings. These feelings become emotional tensions and blocks that prevent your from fully accessing the power within you.

Often this unknowingly skipped step of Shadow Work (to release those non-serving thoughts and heavy feelings) can feel quite scary and daunting. What’s worse is that doing it alone or being guided by an unprofessional teacher can only make the situation worse.

So, if you’re ready to explore some shadow work and letting go so you can feel more confident and radiant with your feminine power, here’s some helpful tips: Be cautious of who you do it with. Use teachers and/or courses that are professional and trauma-informed with positive google reviews. * Take your time with it (be patient and gentle with yourself). Everyone heals in their own time. * Trust yourself: You have the power to release and let go what’s holding you back. You can feel more confidence, freedom, and peace in your life. Once you know how to do it - in a way that feels safe* - you can tap into your feminine power.

Want To Get Started Right Now? Here’s a Quick Exercise
You’re invited to explore saying this affirmation out loud: ‘I Have The Freedom To Express My Sexual Confidence!’

Next, pop your journal open and explore these questions:

  • How did it feel to say that affirmation out loud? (did you feel confident, doubtful, etc)
  • What thoughts came up? (be honest and let it be raw…it’s normal that self-limiting thoughts might pop up here)
  • How did your body feel? (Where did you feel this in your body when you said it out loud?)

Keep getting curious about your divine feminine body and taking those baby steps forward. You can 100% do this.
