Feelings could be uncomfortable. It is sometimes complex for an enneagram 3 but it’s often my best teacher.
In this episode I talk about:
- The difference between being driven and called
- The process of dealing with my feelings and how I could be useful to you.
- Some prompters you could use to check in with yourself.
- My favorite buddy in the bible and how he manages his feelings.
Have you ever thought about where you are going with your life or do you let your feelings drive you to any destination?
You can be on overdrive; get to destination and realize you are outside God’s call.

This is a life-changing conversation with a model of what healing looks like. Sia’s theme is “all things healing in every capacity of a person’s life.” This is evident in her life and work.
She shares her favorite memory; something that taught her how to navigate life. Then, she went on to define trauma, with a focus on her perspective and experience of how diaspora parents of African descend unconsciously transmits trauma to the next generation.
We also talked about the seemingly normalization of abuse in African communities.
Points to ponder from this episode:
Does your culture base parenting style enhance your child(ren) self-esteem? In this episode, you will learn why this is important.
Do you encourage assertiveness; making room for children to express themselves so they can easily speak up in future?
Your method of discipline could be cultural but is it healthy? Does it plant seeds of shame?
Are you unconsciously putting your kids in a place of conflict between the world they live in and the place where YOU grew up?
Is your communication style building a healthy human being?
How can we promote a culture that respects women?
I got a lot out of this conversation but my biggest takeaway, at the top of my mind, is the importance of being aware of what I wanted as a child and using that knowledge to transform my parenting.

If you take leaps jumps, giant steps of faith where will it lead you?
In this episode, I had the wonderful opportunity to talk to the brilliant Onawa Miller, a woman of impact on evolving in purpose.
She shares with us the importance of learning the language of what happens in our life and how the different parts of our lives impact our world-view and self-view. In her own life, she restructured that to see how she can use what she has been through to help others.
She is helping people with traumatic experiences understand how trauma shows up in the body and the tools to cope with that.
Her work ranges from a personal level to corporate levels and higher institutional levels, where she shed light on how adverse childhood experiences impact the workforce, productivity and the clients we serve.
She balances this by telling us ways she takes care of herself to refuel the passion. Some days, it might require disconnecting with others and reconnecting with you.

We are often asked to renew our minds, how do we do that?
Everyday, thoughts get into our minds from diverse sources. Some of those thoughts could be positive but research shows that most people have mostly negative thoughts most of the time.
Are there any negative thoughts that you think about on a consistent basis?
Most negative thoughts are often planted during life events but they circle around our minds and overshadow the truth of God's word. If we are not intentional on how we deal with these thoughts, we could get into the habit to focus on the negative, hindering, limiting thoughts. These thoughts are often contrary to God’s thoughts towards us.
In this episode I lead you through a guided scripture meditation to help you renew your mind.

What will it take for you to lower your guard? In this life, we will meet all kinds of people. Some will betray us and take our love for granted, but some will truly care and stay with us through thick and thin. If we are constantly guarding our true selves and emotions, we will miss the people and opportunities we truly need.A lot of healing takes place in belonging to a community but until you lower your guard, you will not truly experience that feeling and benefits of being in one. Yes, people have hit you hard. Maybe the blow was so hard that you tumbled and fell, I am sorry that was your experience, but you get to determine how long you want to stay down. Here is my advice to you: don't think about how people can take advantage of you, think about how you will discover people who will accept you despite whatever it is you are guarding.I know that being part of a community requires trust. That trust doesn’t come easily because underneath the lack of trust lies fear.Fear of rejectionFear of being ridiculedFear of failureFear of being wrongFear of committing ourselves and having to follow throughFear of being taken advantage ofMost people who have had their trust violated, particularly those of who were betrayed or abused repeatedly and at a young age, have trust challenges. We tend to have little trust in ourselves and we over or under trust people. Often we trust the wrong people and end up betrayed. So we put up the walls. Due to those walls we fail to trust the right people and sometimes lose the people who could have helped us the most. It's a real struggle to be able to come to realize that there are people worth trusting and then trust yourself enough to be open to them.Along with the struggle is a lot of "what ifs". What if I lower my guard and my worst fear is confirmed. Well, here is a what if for you. What if you let your guard down, and you get to know people worth keeping in your life.Listen to this 11 minutes episode to find out more about why and how to lower your guard.

Circumstances and people will happen all around you but you are the one to make the final decisions based on your values. Don't bend and break your values for nobody. Those who are to be in your life will be there despite your values." This really spoke to me. She also shared on: • creating time for family and friends so you won't be so close yet so far away. • how to practice patience and have the right attitude while waiting • why you have a story and you have to share it. • Narrowing down to one thing and being a master at one thing. • Getting your values straight for optimal impact • How emotional intelligence can give you peace in your relationships. • What you need to maintain healthy friendships. After listening to this inspiring conversation, please connect with her on: Cli & Mils TV: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6jO...LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/notifications/Royal Inspiration Int'l: https://www.facebook.com/MotivoEducoI...Royalty International: https://www.facebook.com/TransDev4Lif...Princess C. Do any of these phrases sound familiar:Don’t let your feelings control you.Pull yourself together!I tried so hard to stay calm but I just blurted out the moment I saw him.I can't stop doing what I do?I feel like I'm a failure?Friends, sometimes you try so hard to contain a feeling but it leaves you overwhelmed, scared and feeling like you failed because you have been told that your feelings are not in charge. You have control over your feelings. In reality all you see is your feeling having control over you. so, it makes you more frustrated for not doing what you assumed will be an easy task. It could be easy if you have the right strategy and apply it consistently but it doesn’t happen spontaneously like breathing, blinking and stuff like that. Research shows that over 90% of our behaviors are on autopilot. This means we rarely use the space between stimulus and response. You know, when that happens, we say and do things we regret shortly after. In this episode you will be reminded of four simple steps to regulate emotions and maximize that space. As Viktor Frankl puts it, " in that space lies our freedom and growth."Your emotions don't have to control you. You can take back that power, use it to build confidence, competence, strength, resilience and self-control. Abuse is largely a silent epidemic. It results in psychological and emotional difficulties people do not see externally but one of the most devastating difficulties is to talk about what happened. However, many survivors are prisoners of their own soul and remaining silent means remaining in the trauma.Should an abuse survivor disclose? When should it be done and to whom? This episode answers these questions as a guide to abuse survivors and their loved ones.

When someone you love or support has experienced a tragic event and is living with trauma, you may feel sad and frustrated but what I hear most is, "I don't know what to say."Victims/survivors have different responses, however, what you say could hurt or heal. For most people with lived trauma experience your silence is taken as compliance. It is an indication that you don't care or you are on the side of the abuser. Since your words count so much; what will you sayHave your words been hurting your friends, family members or someone who looks up to you for support? In this episode you will learn some words you could say to help a trauma victim/survivor as well as words to avoid. These are just guidelines. Let the person's need, their place in a recovery journey and your relationship determine what you say. These suggestions are a good place to start. It will help you know how to frame your words and why it is important to be intentional with them.
