Infertility gets labeled “medical” and quietly filed away, but it rarely stays contained. It shows up in your relationship, your finances, your body image, your faith, your friendships, and the way you picture the future. We sit down with relationships author Andrea Surtash, the founder of Pregnantish, to talk about what happens when the old script “first comes love, then baby” stops working and you still want a family more than anything.

Andrea shares how she pitched infertility stories to major TV producers and kept hearing the same response: it’s too niche. So she built her own platform, anchored in fact-checked fertility education and premium storytelling, and a single vulnerable Facebook post about IVF shots, bruises, and heartbreak sparked the kind of viral response that proved the audience was always there. We unpack why telling the truth out loud helps people find care, build community, and stop feeling like they’re in a secret society.

We also connect the dots to gestational surrogacy and the stigma that intended parents and surrogates fight every day, including the harmful “transactional” narrative that ignores what surrogacy really looks like in healthy, ethical arrangements. Then Andrea introduces the World Fertility Project, a global movement inviting people to take a free pledge to break the taboo of infertility, plus Fertility Curious, live events designed for anyone who wants fertility testing and reproductive health info before they’re in crisis.

She signed a surrogacy contract the night before embryo transfer even after a brand-new attorney told her not to and the story only gets more real from there. We’re joined by Adrienne Black, a retired surrogate with decades in family building, founder and CEO of Heart to Hands Surrogacy, and acting president of SEEDS (Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy). Adrienne takes us back to the early days when resources were scarce, agencies were hit-or-miss, and “you don’t know what you don’t know” could put a surrogate and her family at risk.

We talk through the big shifts in IVF and embryology, including how genetic testing and single embryo transfer have changed outcomes and expectations. Adrienne also shares what she’s learned about intended parents’ vulnerability, the power imbalance that can show up in surrogacy, and why the best journeys happen when the surrogate and intended parents are supported as one unit. If you’re researching a surrogacy agency, becoming a surrogate, or starting as an intended parent, this conversation gives you concrete questions to ask about contracts, screening timelines, education, and who is really protecting your interests.

Then we zoom out to the industry-level view: private equity, changing legislation, and why surrogacy can’t “fly under the radar” anymore. Adrienne explains what SEEDS does, how ethical standards are evolving across agencies and escrow, and why professionalism matters for every child’s origin story. A surrogacy journey can look perfect on paper and still fall apart in real life if nobody talks about boundaries. We’re Kenedi and Ellen, and we’re joined by repeat guests Sophia (experienced surrogate and agency owner) and Sara (currently on her second journey) to get brutally practical about what boundaries actually mean when you’re living it: match calls with strangers, vulnerable medical appointments, emotional setbacks like failed transfers, and the high-stakes intensity of delivery day.

We compare how “old school” surrogacy often treated carriers like a vessel with little control, then move into what healthy boundaries look like now, especially in the hospital. Sara shares what it means to be the patient first, how labor and delivery teams protect the birthing space, and why simple consent practices like introductions and limiting observers matter. We also talk about ongoing communication, how to leave room for expectations to change, and how mutual respect makes boundaries easier because you aren’t constantly policing basic decency.

Then we get into the modern headache nobody can ignore: social media. Do you follow each other, post bump updates, share ultrasounds, or keep everything offline? We cover oversharing risks, accidental privacy leaks (names, DOB, clinic info), and how to ask for consent without making it awkward. Finally, we address agency boundaries, HIPAA and medical record access, and the questions every surrogate should ask before signing anything, including how much an agency is involved and who they’re really representing.

Quick clarification/correction: During this episode, I mistakenly mixed up my wording regarding mitochondrial donation. The donated genetic material discussed is mitochondrial DNA, not nuclear DNA. My apologies for the confusion, and thank you for the grace as we continue learning and having these important conversations around IVF and reproductive medicine. 💛

Someone can carry a baby and feel zero “that’s mine” energy. Another person can donate eggs and feel totally at peace never knowing what happened next. That contrast is exactly what we dig into with our guests Sara and Meghan, and it’s the kind of honesty we wish more people heard before they form opinions about IVF, surrogacy, or egg donation.

Sara is on her second gestational carrier journey, and she shares what it looks like to move through transfer prep, meds, and the day-to-day reality of being pregnant for intended parents. Meghan brings a rare perspective as an egg donor who stepped into the fertility world through clinical training, then later became a mom to triplets after IUI. We talk about the practical side of the process, but we also go straight for the big questions: Do you feel attached? Should donor identity be open? What does “genetic connection” mean to the kids created this way, especially now that consumer DNA testing can connect families whether anyone plans for it or not?

Then Meghan drops a story that stops us in our tracks: she also donated a kidney to save a coworker’s teenage son. That launches a deeper conversation about altruism, risk, health screening, recovery, and the kind of boundaries you have to set when you’re a lifelong giver. We also touch on emerging reproductive tech like mitochondrial donation and why the ethics can get complicated fast.

If you’re researching surrogacy, egg donation, IVF, or how intended parents and carriers build healthy agreements, you’ll leave with clearer language, better questions to ask, and a stronger sense of what your non-negotiables might be. “Why don’t they just adopt?” gets thrown at intended parents and surrogates like it’s a simple fix. We slow that down and tell the truth: adoption and surrogacy can both lead to a child, but the process, the power dynamics, the legal risk, and the lifelong identity questions are not the same thing.

We’re joined by two guests who bring real lived experience to the table. Amanda is a mom, stepmom to adoptees, and a surrogate mom, with a front-row seat to how foster care adoption can be loving and still incredibly complicated. Rachel is a surrogate and an adoptee who found out she was adopted at 17, and she does not sugarcoat what it feels like when strangers try to assign you “trauma” or tell you who your “real” family is. Together, we talk open adoption vs closed adoption, the reality that “open” is often not legally binding, and how reunion can be healing and messy at the same time.

We also get practical about the stuff nobody warns you about: missing medical history, sealed records and amended birth certificates, and why surrogacy often has more structure around expectations, consent, and support. We push back on the “selling babies” myth, unpack how celebrity narratives distort surrogacy, and explain why adoption is not some free, easy alternative.

If you care about ethical family building, adoption ethics, gestational surrogacy, and honest origin stories for kids, this conversation will stick with you. Tayler’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/taytate6?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

She was 17 when a doctor told her she might never carry a child and the fear followed her for years. Then Tayler finds herself on the other side of the table: a first-time gestational surrogate, one month postpartum, telling the kind of surrogacy story that feels almost scripted because everything lines up.

We sit down with Tayler to trace the full surrogacy process from the beginning, starting with her endometriosis diagnosis, the second opinion that changed everything, and how two easy pregnancies still didn’t erase the anxiety. When she and her husband decide their family is complete, she admits a surprising truth: she doesn’t want another baby, but she wants pregnancy again and she needs closure. That honesty leads her into research, an advocacy community, and eventually choosing a surrogacy agency that supports her through matching, clinic travel, and the long list of IVF medications.

Tayler also shares what made her match so special: two intended dads in Los Angeles who wanted a real relationship, not a transactional arrangement. We talk embryo timelines, ERA testing, progesterone in oil shots, and the reality of coordinating care across time zones, including a coworker helping with injections at school. From the 12-week ultrasound to the baby shower and a redo 3D scan after a disappointing OB visit, Tayler shows how trust and communication can carry a journey. Then comes an induced labor, a delivery room playlist with perfect timing, and a fast birth that ends with everyone getting exactly what they hoped for: a healthy baby girl and a bond that feels like family.

US Surrogacy LLC Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/us_surrogacy/

Match calls can feel like a first date, a job interview, and a medical consult all rolled into one and that mix is exactly why people dread them. We wanted to take the mystery out of the surrogacy match meeting, so we brought on Kimberly Hennessy, program director at US Surrogacy LLC, to walk us through how thoughtful agencies actually build a match that can last from first call to delivery day.

We get specific about what’s inside a surrogate profile (pregnancy history, recovery, medications, prior complications) and what intended parents share on their side, including the letter to the surrogate, clinic details, embryo creation, genetic testing, and what kind of relationship they hope to have. Kimberly explains why some agencies match one surrogate at a time, how records review and psychology screening reduce surprises, and why state by state surrogacy laws can affect whether a match is truly safe and doable.

Then we break down the match call itself: the icebreakers that calm nerves, the questions that actually matter, and the topics people are often afraid to say out loud. We talk diet and lifestyle requests, how often updates should happen, when parents should travel for appointments like the anatomy scan, and how to discuss delivery room boundaries honestly without making promises you cannot guarantee. We also cover the big hard conversations, like embryo splitting risk, termination decision making, and what to do when a surprise request pops up mid call.

If you’re a surrogate, an intended parent, or just trying to understand the surrogacy matching process, this one is a practical roadmap with real world language. Screening Solutions’ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/surrogate.screening.solutions?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Surrogacy can feel like an all-or-nothing choice: pay full agency fees or try an independent match and hope nothing goes wrong. We wanted to explore the missing middle and what it looks like when intended parents and surrogates get real professional support without the full-service price tag.

We’re joined by Molly, founder and executive director of Surrogate Screening Solutions, who’s spent a decade in the surrogacy space on both the clinic and agency sides and has completed four and a half surrogate journeys herself. She walks us through what “surrogate screening” really means in practice: HIPAA releases, medical record collection, clinic approval, psychological evaluations, background checks, and insurance review. We also talk about case management for independent surrogacy, including help with attorneys, escrow, and the many details that have to be right before transfer can even happen. If you’re searching for independent surrogacy guidance, affordable surrogacy support, or how to screen a surrogate you found through a friend or Facebook group, this conversation lays out the steps clearly.

A big thread running through our chat is mental health in surrogacy. Molly shares why social work check-ins and support groups can change the tone of a journey, especially when timelines run long, transfers fail, or emotions get sharp on both sides. We also tackle myths that still scare people off, including the fear that a surrogate will want to keep the baby, and we explain how screening and communication reduce that anxiety.

Leaking when you laugh. Back pain you’re told to “accept.” A recovery window that feels like a mystery. We wanted better answers, so we brought on Jessica, a Doctor of Physical Therapy who specializes in pelvic floor health and works with surrogates across the US through virtual coaching. She breaks down what pelvic floor physical therapy really looks like today, how it connects to your core and glutes, and why “common” pregnancy symptoms are not automatically “normal.”

We dig into the practical stuff surrogates and intended parents care about: when to start pelvic floor support during a surrogacy journey, how virtual assessment works, and what changes actually reduce prolapse risk. Jessica also shares how postpartum recovery can begin with breath work and gentle mobility well before the classic six-week clearance, plus what to consider after a vaginal birth versus a C-section, including scar support and abdominal rehab.

Then we zoom out to the data behind prenatal exercise and pelvic health. We talk research-linked outcomes like lower risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, prenatal depression, and C-section, along with benefits that support baby outcomes and placental health. If you’re a surrogate building your support team, an agency updating benefits, or an intended parent who wants the healthiest possible journey, this conversation is full of actionable, evidence-based takeaways.

My Surrogacy Journey Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialmysurrogacyjourney?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Mexico City surrogacy gets talked about like it’s a gamble, but the details tell a very different story. We sat down with Michael Johnson Ellis, a dad of three through surrogacy and the co-founder of My Surrogacy Journey, to unpack what’s actually happening on the ground and why so many intended parents are rethinking where and how they build their families.

We walk through how My Surrogacy Journey was created after a bumpy early experience in the UK, and why their mission is to make the journey feel equal for everyone involved. Michael explains their “membership” approach and what full support looks like in practice: clinical coordination, legal guidance, counseling, and real continuity of care so you’re not bounced between clinics, lawyers, and third parties. We also get into the problem he calls financial infertility, where the cost of surrogacy forces people to delay parenthood or give up completely, and why accessibility matters just as much as ethics.

Then we go deep on Mexico City. Michael breaks down the legal framework, including procreational will and a pre-birth order pathway, along with the safeguards they use to prevent exploitation. We also cover what strong surrogate screening looks like, how matching timelines can be shortened when clearance happens upfront, and why their milestone-based payment structure is designed to reduce risk and increase transparency. If you’re researching ethical surrogacy, the cost of surrogacy, LGBTQ family building, or international surrogacy options, this conversation gives you better questions to ask and clearer signals to look for.

Brittany’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pavinourway?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

A surrogacy journey can look “simple” from the outside, right up until it doesn’t. Brittany joins us to share what it’s like to be a gestational carrier who knows the fertility world firsthand, from years of trying to conceive to building her own family and then stepping back in to help someone else grow theirs. Her story is honest, detailed, and packed with the kind of real-life context you wish you could get before starting the surrogacy process.

We talk through how she decided on surrogacy over egg donation, what mental health and family history can mean for eligibility, and how she weighed an agency path against an independent journey. Then things get wild: a literal website glitch leads her to the intended parents she ends up carrying for, and the match moves fast into medical clearance, psych screening, legal, and transfer prep. Brittany also explains transfer meds, travel logistics, working with a large IVF clinic, and why they were comfortable transferring untested embryos based on values and medical history.

The biggest curveball comes after the first transfer, when her betas rise but no pregnancy can be located, leading to a diagnosis of pregnancy of unknown origin and methotrexate treatment. After the required waiting period, a second transfer sticks and results in a healthy baby, but not without heightened monitoring shaped by the parents’ prior late-term losses. We also get into weekly BPPs, a breech baby who keeps flipping, and a planned induction that turns into a C-section where Brittany’s self-advocacy (and knowing who makes decisions in the OR) changes everything.

If you’re considering becoming a surrogate, navigating IVF and embryo transfer, or just want a true surrogacy podcast story that doesn’t skip the hard parts, this conversation will stay with you. Ginger’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gestational.diabetes.diet?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

What if one small change could tilt a surrogacy journey toward better energy, steadier blood sugar, and a smoother delivery? We sit down with Ginger Cochran—registered dietitian, board‑certified diabetes care and education specialist, and exercise physiologist—to unpack a realistic blueprint from pre‑transfer to postpartum. Ginger shares how targeted nutrition can reduce inflammation, support implantation, and shape fetal taste exposure after 14 weeks, while also boosting a surrogate’s confidence through evidence‑based, budget‑friendly choices.

We get candid about gestational diabetes. Ginger explains why GD can affect anyone, how risk changes with age and prior pregnancies, and which strategies—like Mediterranean‑style eating, pairing carbs with protein, and short walks after meals—make the biggest difference. She tackles myths head‑on, including the belief that GD becomes lifelong diabetes, and breaks down newborn hypoglycemia risk without fear or jargon. Her approach is hands‑on: fast scheduling, weekly follow‑ups until numbers are controlled, and steady education that calms intended parents as much as it equips surrogates.

Sleep and stress take center stage too. Less than seven hours of sleep can spike cravings and nudge blood sugar up, so Ginger offers simple sleep hygiene tactics that actually stick—dimming lights, keeping phones out of the bedroom, and using consistent routines to encourage melatonin. We round out the plan with sustainable movement, from prenatal‑aware yoga to ten‑minute post‑meal walks that open muscle cells to glucose and ease daily stress.

You’ll walk away with practical swaps—frozen veggies that rival fresh, BPA‑free canned options, choline‑rich eggs for brain development, and high‑fiber grains that steady energy—plus a grounded mindset: start with one change, build to two, and lean on an 80–20 approach for real life. Ready to design a safer, saner surrogacy journey with tools that last well past delivery? Amber’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ambereshleman?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

People love to ask surrogates one dramatic question: “How could you give up the baby?” We get why it sounds shocking from the outside, but it also skips the most important part of gestational surrogacy: we’re carrying a baby for the intended parents, with a clear purpose and a clear plan for birth, legal parentage, and what comes after.

We sit down with Amber and Amanda to talk honestly about attachment in surrogacy, including the part nobody prepares you for. Amanda shares how pumping breast milk, bringing milk to the NICU, and even nannying the newborn for a full month changed the emotional texture of postpartum. Amber explains the mindset many gestational carriers hold from day one, plus what it’s like when closure doesn’t happen the way you expected and how support can show up later in surprising ways.

We also dig into the real-world moments that shape a surrogacy journey: judgment from strangers, explaining the science and the “not biologically related to me” reality, and how kids process “mom has a baby in her belly, but it’s not ours.” We talk boundaries, too, including why being labeled “mom” can feel wrong even when it’s meant as praise, and how intended parents and surrogates can set expectations early to protect the relationship.

If you care about surrogacy education, intended parent support, and the mental health side of the postpartum experience, this conversation will give you language you can actually use. Lyndsey’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lstrickland1026?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

A single decision—stick to your non-negotiables—can reshape an entire surrogacy journey. We sit down with an experienced surrogate from North Carolina who takes us from the first late-night Google search to two very different matches, one declined for an NDA and one embraced for connection and trust. Along the way, she reveals the real timeline of IVF: long stretches of waiting, injections that sting, a failed transfer that tests your resolve, and the quiet shift from self-blame to science-informed acceptance.

You’ll hear how clarity changes everything. She wanted a relationship, not a transaction—and that boundary led to a delivery room filled with joy, grandparents peeking from behind a curtain, and intended parents who went from “we might not watch” to cutting the cord and hearing their son’s first cry. She shares how kids understand surrogacy with disarming honesty (“They’re the bakers; I’m the oven”), and how family members learned what genetic links, consent, and privacy actually mean. The postpartum chapter is refreshingly grounded: handing over care, pumping briefly, donating milk, prioritizing sleep and home, and using agency-backed mental health check-ins to stay balanced.

We also cover the nuts and bolts that rarely make it to social posts: mock cycles and why clinics request them, mini-legal for mocks and ensuring compensation, life insurance with correct beneficiaries and timelines, and a crucial clause granting her husband medical decision-making if international parents are mid-flight. It’s practical, tender, and fiercely honest about what protects everyone—the surrogate, the baby, and the intended parents—when plans shift.

If you’re a first-time surrogate, an intended parent, or simply curious about how love, medicine, and meticulous planning create families, this story delivers hard-won wisdom and hope. Shelbie’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/surroshelbie?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Most people ask the same question first: “Don’t you get attached to the baby?” We take that head on with two experienced gestational carriers who explain, with compassion and clarity, how surrogates prepare, set healthy boundaries, and celebrate the handoff without trying to keep what was never theirs. The story here isn’t about loss—it’s about stewardship, respect, and the euphoria of seeing parents meet their child.

We talk candidly about where real attachment lands: with the intended parents and the shared mission. You’ll hear how early transparency, a thoughtful match, and clear agreements create trust from transfer to delivery. Our guests share why emotions run high at birth (and why those tears aren’t about “giving up” a baby), how they navigated faith and family pushback, and the surprising reason many surrogates choose to do it again. We also explore the underrated power of closure—brief private time after delivery that helps a surrogate’s kids say goodbye and marks the end of a profound chapter.

If you’re a first‑time surrogate, an intended parent, or simply curious, this conversation offers practical guidance: what to include in your agreement, how to set communication expectations, and ways to talk to your children in clear, age‑appropriate language. We highlight the role of supportive agencies, the strength of modern surrogate communities, and the difference between love, care, and parental attachment. By the end, you’ll understand why surrogacy is less about possession and more about precise, generous care.

The story starts with curiosity in a small town and unfolds into a hard-won lesson about what truly makes a surrogacy journey work: fit, trust, and closure. Amber joins us to share how she went from a first match that felt distant and clinical to a second match that clicked immediately—and why a simpler, well-explained protocol helped her achieve a healthy pregnancy after months of waiting. She opens her notebook to compare two clinics’ approaches, spotlighting the difference between piling on meds and choosing minimal, evidence-aligned treatment that respects the surrogate’s body and sanity.

We walk through the emotional terrain of pregnancy after a failed transfer: a gestational diabetes diagnosis, the discipline of diet and nightly exercise to stay off insulin, and how medical anxiety can strain communication with intended parents. Amber shows how she rebuilt trust by inviting direct conversations with her doctors, turning fear into clarity. Then labor tested everything—days of stalled dilation, a face-up baby, heart rate decelerations, shoulder dystocia, and an episiotomy. The baby was healthy, but the moments after birth brought a different kind of pain: silence, missed gratitude, and no space for the private, grounding “first hour” she’d hoped for with her family. We unpack why that brief, unobserved time matters for many surrogates—not to claim the baby, but to complete the story their body has lived.

Amber didn’t stop at survival—she changed direction. Now a surrogacy coordinator at a small, hands-on agency, she offers crisp, practical advice for first-time surrogates: research deeply, expect a slower timeline, ask clinics to explain every medication, and be explicit about boundaries for communication and postpartum plans. She’s already matched with new intended parents whose values align, ready for what she calls a redemption journey built on respect and transparency.

Kayla’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kayla_rees85?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

A midwife from Adelaide joins us to unpack what Australian surrogacy really looks like when there are no agencies, no compensation, and a culture grounded in trust. Kayla walks us through how “teams” form through communities and friendships, why counseling and non-enforceable contracts still matter, and how parentage transfers after birth. We compare systems with the U.S., from single-embryo policies and no sex selection to the three-month embryo quarantine that surprised her—and the fully unmedicated transfer that worked on the first try.

The heart of this story beats in the details: choosing private care within a universal system to pursue a VBAC after two C-sections; a brief parvovirus scare that prompted careful monitoring; and the day labor went from calm to critical with a half-hour dash to the hospital. Kayla delivered standing by the bed, welcomed the intended parents moments before birth, and chose immediate skin-to-skin for closure and physiology. She offered early breastfeeding, then pumped until it began crowding family life. Postpartum, the dads stayed nearby for weeks, helping “wean” contact thoughtfully so her body and heart could settle while real friendships deepened.

We also get honest about money, ethics, and reform. Kayla once feared compensation would undercut connection. Now she notices who gets paid—clinics, lawyers, counselors—while the surrogate does the heavy lifting. She supports a fair, modest compensation model that respects the work without pricing out families, and she’s watching Australia’s push toward federal harmonization with hope. If you’re curious about how autonomy, informed consent, and genuine relationships can shape a modern surrogacy journey, this conversation offers rare clarity and warmth.

What if one case manager guided both the surrogate and the intended parents—from the first profile exchange to baby photos years later? We sit down with Nina Simmons, case manager and clinical support manager at Northwest Surrogacy Center, to explore how a unified model reduces miscommunication, deepens trust, and creates a steadier surrogacy journey. Nina pulls back the curtain on the real work behind the scenes: coordinating clinics and legal timelines, keeping everyone informed, and offering trauma-informed support when emotions run high.

We talk about the head-and-heart balance that keeps a match on track: the administrative structure that provides safety and the relational care that builds confidence. Nina shares practical ways to set expectations early, from communication preferences to boundary setting, and explains how transparent group conversations help resolve friction before it grows. She also addresses common challenges—loss of control for intended parents, boundary fatigue for surrogates—and shows how predictability and clear options restore a sense of agency. IVF is powerful but not absolute; offering choice, clarity, and steady presence helps everyone breathe through the unknowns.

You’ll also hear how the pandemic reshaped matching and support—Zoom meetings, online groups, and a renewed desire for in-person connection—and why ethical guardrails matter when choosing an agency. Nina’s guidance on vetting compensation packages, reading the fine print on lost wages and insurance, and understanding state-by-state legal pathways is essential listening for anyone considering surrogacy. If you’re searching for a model that honors both people and process, this conversation delivers practical insights and real hope.

A daughter remembers the rodeo comment. Amanda was nine when classmates, teachers, and even other parents struggled to understand why her mom was carrying a baby for someone else. That early clash with stigma sent her searching for answers—how embryos work, why genetics matter, and what safety really looks like—while her family navigated emergency deliveries, NICU visits, and a community learning on the fly.

Years later, the roles flipped. After a lifetime of “easy” pregnancies around her, Amanda faced irregular cycles and a PCOS diagnosis. She takes us inside the real cadence of IUI: dawn ultrasounds, letrozole and menopur, trigger timing, and the quiet choice to keep it private. You’ll feel the weight of a Black Friday clinic visit before hosting Thanksgiving, a Christmas Day beta drawn into the wrong vial, and the constant tug between hope and self-protection. Her second pregnancy arrived spontaneously eleven months postpartum—proof that fertility doesn’t follow neat rules—and it came with ER scares, a toddler at home, and the kind of fatigue most people don’t see.

We compare surrogacy then and now, from four-embryo transfers to today’s standards, and talk about how intended parents can transform the experience by acknowledging the surrogate’s kids. We also dig into what real support looks like when a sibling becomes a surrogate: legal caution, money anxiety, and the emotional work of staying steady in a tough delivery room. Amanda shares grounded advice for families, intended parents, and anyone facing infertility: seek facts, set boundaries, and let your plan fit your life, not the internet’s timeline.

What if the calm, practical path to a healthy surrogate pregnancy is simpler than you’ve been told? We sit down with maternal health nutritionist and current surrogate Brie Towne, who pairs evidence with empathy to demystify prenatal nutrition, implantation support, and postpartum recovery. No scare tactics, no perfectionism—just strategies that actually fit a full life.

Brie explains why early nutrient stores matter for implantation and first-trimester development, then walks through realistic weight gain targets, how to handle nausea with balanced meals, and a hydration approach that uses thirst and urine color instead of arbitrary quotas. We dig into the most overlooked prenatal nutrient—choline—and how to get it from eggs, fish, and thoughtful supplementation. We also talk through folate, iron, omega-3s, vitamin D, iodine, and antioxidants, clarifying when supplements help and when they’re unnecessary or even counterproductive.

One of the biggest surprises: organic isn’t automatically better. Brie unpacks the small nutritional differences, cost trade-offs, and what pesticide regulation really looks like, freeing you to buy what you’ll actually eat and afford. You’ll leave with simple routines—default breakfasts, snack prep, frozen and canned standbys, and a “40 plants a week” diversity goal—that make eating well easier than chasing trends. For postpartum and pumping, we cover calorie needs, gentle foods for early digestion, and how to protect milk supply without turning meals into math.

Whether you’re an intended parent seeking peace of mind, a first-time surrogate navigating expectations, or a returning carrier looking to fine-tune what works, this conversation equips you with grounded, judgment-free tools.

The quiet after a delivery can be louder than labor. We sit with two retired, two-time surrogates who open up about the complicated relief of being “done,” the grief of being told no by doctors, and the surprising ways identity shifts when the calendar no longer revolves around monitoring, meds, and milk shipments. Their stories span identical twins born across the country from their dads during COVID, an emergency C-section at 30 weeks after placenta previa, and the tender joy of seeing intended parents finally hold their babies.

We move beyond the highlight reel to unpack what most guides gloss over: how to handle control when a mosaic transfer, failed cycle, or NICU stay rewrites your plan; why 90 percent of the work happens before the six-week heartbeat; and how patience becomes the most valuable skill a surrogate can learn. You’ll hear how kids, partners, and even nanny families became part of the village, why one surrogate wrote a children’s book to normalize the journey at home, and how LGBTQ family building shaped a daughter’s worldview around chosen family and acceptance.

We also map the industry’s evolution. Pre- and post-COVID journeys look different—contracts, screening, and insurance have changed—and newer models like a la carte journey management are widening access for intended parents while honoring surrogate autonomy. The takeaway is clear: do your homework, don’t chase the first offer, and remember it’s your journey too. Retired surrogates are not done; they’re essential—leading support groups, mentoring, and keeping the heart in a small, growing field.

If you’re starting, ending, or somewhere between, there’s hard-won wisdom here. Listen, share with a friend who needs real talk about surrogacy, and leave a review to help more curious, caring people find us.

Birth can be beautiful, messy, and intensely logistical—especially when you’re carrying for someone else. We sit down with Kristen, a multi-time surrogate and former agency intake coordinator, to trace her path from a pandemic C-section for placenta previa to a confident VBAC with international intended parents racing into the room as the baby crowned. Along the way, she shares what most guides skip: the fourth trimester after surrogacy, the emotional whiplash of shifting contact after delivery, and how hospital routines often ignore surrogacy preferences unless someone speaks up.

Kristen also lifts the curtain on agency intake: why education beats pressure every time, how simple check-ins and care packages change the tone of a journey, and what she learned turning leads into engaged, informed applicants. After a tough year trying to rejoin the industry as staff, she created the Surrogacy Doula program—a virtual service built for surrogates and intended parents that blends monthly support, perinatal nutrition guidance, and real-time messaging with thoughtful mediation when tensions rise. She helps craft surrogacy-savvy birth plans, clarifies roles in the delivery room, and gives IPs practical ways to bond before birth, from shared playlists to mindful rituals that bridge the distance when they didn’t carry the baby themselves.

If you’re weighing VBAC after C-section, navigating domestic vs international IP dynamics, or searching for a surrogacy doula who understands both the paperwork and the heart-work, this conversation is a blueprint. We talk closure language for contracts, setting hospital expectations for immediate skin-to-skin, and how to keep everyone informed without turning the surrogate into the project manager. Listen for grounded, human-tested strategies that make surrogacy safer, kinder, and more connected.

Want a clear, unvarnished guide to IVF that blends science, empathy, and practical advice? Lisa, an embryologist and lab director in Melbourne with over 15 years in the field, joins us to break down what truly shapes outcomes—from age and egg quality to lab standards, embryo grading, and the rise of AI in fertility care. No mystique, no scare tactics, just what works, what’s changing, and what still can’t be predicted.

We start with a step‑by‑step tour: stimulation, retrieval, fertilization via IVF or ICSI, blastocyst growth, and the decision points around fresh transfers, freezing, and PGT. Lisa explains how PGT prioritizes embryos by chromosome balance, why it can reduce miscarriage risk, and where it still falls short when mosaics appear. If you’ve ever wondered why a 4AA isn’t a guarantee or how a “CC” can still lead to a healthy birth, this conversation reframes grading as probability, not destiny.

Then we zoom out to the system that holds it all together: the lab. Not all IVF labs are equal. Culture media, incubators, quality control, and the experience of embryologists influence embryo viability more than most patients realize. Lisa shares how time‑lapse incubators and AI now analyze thousands of images to support consistent selection, and how robotics is beginning to automate ultra‑delicate procedures like ICSI—promising fewer variables and faster decisions. We also cover lifestyle levers that matter—smoking, alcohol, BMI, sleep, and stress—and why none of them outweigh the impact of age on egg quality.

If you’re deciding between fresh and frozen, weighing PGT, or trying to decode grading, this episode will help you ask smarter questions and make calmer choices. Follow Dr. Lisa Lee on Instagram for more lab‑side insights, and tap follow on our show to get future deep dives into surrogacy and fertility. If this helped you or someone you love, share it, leave a review, and tell us the biggest IVF myth you want gone for good.

Kiely’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatsurrogatelife?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

What happens when the transfers are done, the last delivery is behind you, and the identity you wore with pride suddenly shifts? We sit down with a seasoned pair of voices—Grace, a two‑time carrier, and Kiely, a four‑time carrier—to talk candidly about “retirement” from surrogacy, the choice to step back versus being told no by clinics, and the surprising ways purpose expands after the final journey.

The conversation moves from age cutoffs and ACOG guidance on C‑sections to the emotional calculus of ending on your own terms. Grace shares how preparing for her last pregnancy shaped a peaceful exit, while Kiely explains why she wanted the decision to be hers, then channeled that energy into writing, mentoring, and creating Send a Friend, a grassroots program that brings an experienced surrogate to support first‑time postpartum surrogates. Along the way, we reflect on what surrogacy teaches our families: that love builds families in many forms; that children can learn to answer strangers with clarity and pride; and that empathy deepens when you stand next to someone who longs for a child money can’t buy.

We also get practical. Expect frank talk about changing insurance rules, clinic discretion, compensation norms, and how to research without falling into bias. You’ll hear why Facebook groups can be both a lifeline and a minefield, and how to gather perspective that sets realistic expectations for matching, protocols, and postpartum recovery. Most of all, we reframe the label “retired.” You’re not done—you’re a surrogate emerita, carrying wisdom forward through advocacy, education, and community.

If this conversation resonates, follow the show, share it with someone curious about surrogacy, and leave a review with the insight you wish every new surrogate knew. Your voice helps more families—and more surrogates—find their path.

Ever wonder how it really feels to carry someone else’s baby—and make tough medical calls when hopes and bodies collide? We sit down with Jana, a Portland-based psychologist and surrogate, to unpack the real emotional load of surrogacy: induction pressure without clear medical cause, a lightning-fast birth in triage, and the quiet, complicated moments after delivery when your body wants to feed a baby who isn’t coming home with you.

We dive into perinatal mood and anxiety disorders—how anxiety, irritability, sleep changes, and intrusive thoughts can surface even in people with no prior history—and why a specialized clinician makes a difference. Jana explains how vague contract language like “follow doctor’s guidance” can become a fault line when preferences diverge, and she offers grounded strategies for advocacy that keep trust intact. She also breaks down the difference between “medical necessity” and “support necessity,” showing where confidential, nonjudgmental care helps surrogates process guilt, set boundaries, and stay steady through IVF meds, monitoring, and all the waiting.

There’s practical guidance throughout: what symptoms to watch for, how OB screenings work, and how to use agency wellness benefits without fear of stigma. We talk about family dynamics, partner support, and what to ask agencies beyond glossy benefits—like “tell me about a journey that didn’t go well.” Jana's dual lens as psychologist and surrogate gives this conversation rare clarity and compassion, translating hard moments into usable tools you can apply right away.

What happens when military life meets surrogacy? We welcome back Whitney, a two-time gestational surrogate and Coast Guard spouse, for a candid, practical, and heart-forward conversation about building families while navigating orders, insurance, and constant change. Whitney opens up about the moment a medical retirement notice landed the night before transfer, how she planned around potential moves, and why a supportive command and tight-knit base community made all the difference.

We get real about TriCare and the secondary insurance most surrogates need. Whitney explains the Prime vs. Select trade-offs, how maternity claims can wrongly hit TriCare, and what to do when providers bill the wrong plan. She shares a cautionary tale about DEERS auto-enrollment, escrow closing too early, and a postpartum complication that surfaced months later—plus the fixes a good agency should own. If you’ve ever searched for surrogacy insurance, TriCare and surrogacy, or escrow timeline for surrogacy, this is the clarity you’ve been missing.

Beyond logistics, this is a story about chosen family. Whitney’s neighbors and friends stepped in with meals, childcare, and quiet companionship in hospital waiting rooms, showing how military communities become a lifeline far from home. Her kids formed deep bonds with intended parents, learning that families are built in many ways—and that love, not just DNA, holds them together. We also talk about the HBO docuseries that chronicles her journey alongside global family stories, offering a needed counterweight to loud headlines and tired myths.

If you’re a military spouse weighing surrogacy—or an intended parent trying to understand the terrain—you’ll leave with practical steps: confirm station stability, secure surrogacy-friendly insurance, extend escrow through postpartum, and build a local support web before transfer. Subscribe, share with someone who needs real-world guidance, and leave a review with your biggest question so we can cover it next.

A calm first journey, a terrifying second, and a life-changing pivot into nursing—Lauren’s story reveals what surrogacy really asks of the body, the mind, and the heart. We welcome Lauren back to share how she chose agencies, navigated a Canada-to-U.S. match during COVID, and moved through a natural-cycle transfer that led to a smooth full-term birth. Then everything changed: a double embryo transfer, surging symptoms, a gut feeling something was wrong, and a hospital visit that exposed early dilation and bulging membranes. When monitors missed contractions, her voice did not. The emergency C-section that followed was chaotic and partially anesthetized, the twins headed straight to the NICU, and the aftermath raised hard questions about support, recognition, and care.

We talk candidly about the parts people don’t see: reduced compensation after a preterm birth, the emotional shock of limited updates from intended parents, and the mental health gap that too many contracts overlook. Lauren’s experience also spotlights bias in healthcare—how Black women are often dismissed, and why listening can be the difference between safety and harm. Out of that crucible, she found purpose. She’s starting nursing school with her eyes set on labor and delivery, determined to make sure no patient under her watch has to perform to be believed.

You’ll learn practical takeaways for surrogates and intended parents: how natural-cycle transfers work, what to include in contracts (postpartum therapy, communication expectations, emergency planning), and why clear, compassionate agency support matters long after delivery. It’s a story of grit, grace, and the power of advocacy—proof that intuition is data and that gratitude should never arrive late.

What happens when kids grow up watching their parent carry a baby for someone else? We open the door to our homes and hearts to explore how surrogacy shapes children’s understanding of empathy, science, and the many ways families are made. With Sarah—a labor and delivery nurse, twin mom, and second-time surrogate—we trade honest stories about timing the conversation, answering tough questions, and turning complex ideas into clear, age-appropriate truths.

We share how we explained IVF and embryos with simple analogies and real facts, why meeting intended parents early makes the mission feel human, and how transparency helps kids process big feelings during the ups and downs of a journey. From nausea and pump parts to the quiet heroism of persistence, our kids learned that sacrifice can be ordinary and love can be deliberate. We also talk about failed transfers, showing sadness without shame, and the surprising moments that taught our children to comfort, advocate, and step up.

Beyond birth, we highlight the power of continuing relationships—photos, short videos, and first birthdays that replace goodbye with connection. The conversation widens to inclusivity: same-sex parents, single parents by choice, and heterosexual couples, all seeking a path through infertility. Our kids traced the ripple effects—parents becoming grandparents, cousins finding cousins—and saw how surrogacy can expand a family tree in every direction. If you’re wondering when to tell your kids, what to say, or how to keep it grounded, you’ll leave with practical scripts, tools, and the reassurance that children can hold both facts and feeling with grace.

A DM match, a parking‑lot handshake, and a transfer day “gift” in cash—then silence. Hallie joins us to share how a seemingly straightforward surrogacy journey morphed into a tangle of red flags: minimal medical clearance, a contract fight over termination language, a hard push to keep escrow with the intended parents’ attorney, and months with the agency acting as the only conduit to the family. When a July email warned that the matching entity was tied to an ongoing investigation and that a pre‑birth order might not arrive before delivery, everything shifted. We talk through the panic, the legal limbo, and the practical fallout when escrow funds stop and medical bills don’t.

We walk step‑by‑step through the choices that helped Hallie hold the line—why third‑party escrow mattered, how to frame non‑negotiables, and what to look for in termination clauses and monitoring protocols. She also shares the human side: taking her grandmother to transfer, the shock of contradictory family details revealed minutes before the procedure, and the eerie quiet that followed. This isn’t fear‑mongering; it’s a candid look at how trust, transparency, and process protect everyone in surrogacy—surrogates, intended parents, and the child.

If you’re considering becoming a surrogate or building your family through surrogacy, you’ll find practical safeguards you can use today: identity‑verified matching (not DMs), evidence‑based medical screening at the transfer clinic, specialized attorneys on both sides, independent and adequately funded escrow, and a written communication plan. We end by pausing at 36 weeks, with part two on the way—covering the pre‑birth order scramble, hospital planning, and what to do when professionals say “we don’t know.”

The harrowing journey of surrogates caught in the Mark surrogacy scandal continues to unfold with stunning new revelations. One surrogate, now 38 weeks pregnant and days away from delivery, finds herself navigating treacherous legal waters without proper representation after her attorney abruptly switched sides to represent the intended parents instead.

What started as a beautiful journey of helping create families has transformed into a nightmare of legal manipulation, with the surrogate now facing pressure to sign 16 pages containing 59 amendments to her contract just before giving birth. The intended parents, currently under investigation with their existing children removed from their care, are making dubious claims about regaining custody while attempting to secure rights to this new baby.

Most shocking is the revelation that approximately 20 surrogates are connected to these same intended parents, with babies that may all be biological siblings. These women have formed their own remarkable support network, sharing information, resources, and even baby supplies as they prepare for the possibility of bringing these children home themselves rather than surrendering them to a questionable situation.

The emotional toll is palpable as our surrogate reveals she and her husband have named the baby Sophia Ray, torn between preparing a nursery and protecting herself from heartbreak. Meanwhile, attorneys seem compromised or inaccessible, leaving these women without adequate representation during their most vulnerable moment. One surrogate in another state has already been granted temporary custody of her baby pending further investigation, offering a glimmer of hope.

This episode serves as a powerful reminder of the critical importance of proper legal protection in surrogacy arrangements and the extraordinary resilience of women supporting each other through unprecedented circumstances. Whether you're considering surrogacy or simply care about reproductive rights and child welfare, this conversation offers crucial insights into what happens when the system fails those it should protect.

In this gripping continuation of Ashleigh's surrogate story, we witness a journey that defied medical odds and revealed the profound resilience of human connection. After two successful surrogate pregnancies, Ashleigh' embarks on a third journey with the same intended parents, carrying their final embryo and last hope for completing their family.

What begins as a routine pregnancy quickly spirals into a medical nightmare when genetic testing yields a false positive for trisomy 13, followed by ruptured membranes at just 16 weeks gestation. Doctors deliver the devastating news: prepare for imminent loss. Yet somehow, against all medical expectations, the pregnancy continues.

Ashleigh's candid account takes us through six weeks of home bedrest, three weeks hospitalized an hour from her family, and the heart-wrenching reality of being unable to care for her own children while fighting to save someone else's baby. The story beautifully highlights the village that forms around her – a devoted mother-in-law stepping in as full-time caregiver, an intended mother providing unwavering support, and medical professionals navigating uncharted waters alongside them.

The dramatic birth story itself – complete with a failed induction, a baby who flips breech during labor, and an unplanned unmedicated delivery – serves as the climactic final challenge before the miracle arrives: a healthy 7-pound baby boy born at 36 weeks.

Perhaps most touching is the deep bond formed through shared adversity, culminating in the intended parents naming their son after Ashleigh– Asher, meaning "blessed" or "lucky one" in Hebrew. This powerful testament to human connection reminds us that surrogacy isn't simply a clinical arrangement but a profound journey of trust, vulnerability, and love.

Paying It Forward Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/payingitforward_surrogacy?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Beth Moskowicz journey through surrogacy began over a decade ago when she and her husband faced fertility challenges. After failed IVF transfers and a heartbreaking miscarriage, they turned to surrogacy—a path that would not only build their family but eventually shape Beth's career and life purpose.

What started as her personal quest for parenthood evolved into a profound mission to help others. Beth candidly shares the dramatic birth of her daughter, where a rare umbilical cord complication led to moments of terror before joy. Three years later, after unsuccessful transfer attempts with their first surrogate, they matched with another surrogate who carried their son to term. These experiences gave Beth unique insight into both the emotional rollercoaster and practical realities of surrogacy journeys.

The technological advancements Beth witnessed between her children's births—just three years apart—highlight how rapidly the field evolves. Genetic testing of embryos, unavailable during her daughter's journey, became standard practice by the time her son was conceived, fundamentally changing success rates and risk factors.

Today, as founder of Paying it Forward Surrogacy, Beth deliberately maintains a boutique approach, personally managing no more than seven cases at once. This allows her to provide the kind of attentive support she valued during her own surrogacy experiences. Her background as both a newspaper reporter and law school graduate equips her with exceptional communication skills and legal understanding—though she's quick to clarify she doesn't write contracts herself.

Beth offers valuable perspective on the changing landscape of surrogacy compensation and state legislation, particularly regarding pregnancy termination rights. Her balanced approach acknowledges both surrogate worth and the financial realities faced by intended parents. Above all, she emphasizes the critical importance of thorough research, clear communication, and addressing concerns promptly rather than letting them fester.

What happens when the dream of helping create a family through surrogacy turns into a nightmare? In this powerful and deeply troubling episode, we speak with a brave surrogate who finds herself caught in what's become one of the most shocking surrogacy scandals in recent memory.

At 34 weeks pregnant, our anonymous guest reveals how she carefully researched surrogacy for a year before matching with what seemed like a legitimate couple. What began as a journey to help create a family has transformed into something unimaginable—the intended parents have been arrested after authorities removed 21 children from their home, with at least 10 more surrogates still pregnant.

The story unfolds like a thriller, with subtle red flags that only became clear in hindsight: communication funneled through "assistants" with suspicious email addresses, strange payment arrangements, and odd requests. The devastating truth emerged when our guest discovered through social media that her intended parents had allegedly created fake agencies to recruit multiple surrogates simultaneously.

Now facing the birth of a baby with no legal precedent for what happens next, our guest shares her emotional struggle, the financial uncertainty, and the extraordinary stress of this situation. Healthcare providers, legal experts, and child protective services are all grappling with an unprecedented case.

Despite everything, our guest demonstrates remarkable resilience and concern for the innocent life she carries. Her story serves as both a cautionary tale and a testament to the strength of the human spirit when faced with extraordinary circumstances.

US Surrogacy’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/us_surrogacy?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

What happens when personal struggle transforms into professional purpose? Dawn Baker, founder and CEO of US Surrogacy LLC, takes us behind the scenes of her remarkable journey from experiencing secondary infertility in her twenties to building an ethical surrogacy agency that has helped create nearly 400 families from 21 different countries.

Dawn's perspective is uniquely powerful - she understands the heartache of fertility challenges firsthand while bringing 11+ years of agency leadership to the conversation. She shares candidly about the delicate art of matching surrogates with intended parents, revealing a thoughtful approach that prioritizes compatibility over convenience. Rather than simply matching based on waiting time, Dawn's team carefully considers communication styles, expectations, and even who should see whose profile first to protect everyone's emotional wellbeing.

The conversation tackles the false dichotomy between compensated and altruistic surrogacy, with Dawn eloquently explaining how both motivations coexist in successful journeys. "You deserve the moon. You don't ever get paid what you're worth," she tells surrogates, while acknowledging financial realities for most intended parents. Her approach to benefits packages demonstrates remarkable transparency, encouraging surrogates to review and request changes before finalizing matches.

Most fascinating is Dawn's insight into international surrogacy dynamics and how current U.S. regulatory challenges are reshaping global family-building options. She discusses the careful development of ethical programs in other countries while emphasizing the importance of maintaining stringent standards wherever surrogacy takes place.

Whether you're considering surrogacy, are a current surrogate, or simply curious about how families are built across borders, this episode offers a masterclass in ethical third-party reproduction. Connect with Dawn's wealth of knowledge at US-Surrogacy.com to learn more about creating families with both heart and integrity.

Rachel’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rachelgoldbergtherapy?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Step into the emotional landscape of surrogacy with licensed therapist Rachel Goldberg as she pulls back the curtain on the psychological aspects of gestational carrier journeys. What many surrogates fear as judgment—psychological evaluations—are actually thoughtful assessments designed to ensure everyone's wellbeing throughout this profound experience.

Rachel reveals why joint counseling sessions between surrogates and intended parents should be standard practice before contracts are ever signed. These facilitated conversations create safe spaces to discuss difficult topics like selective reduction, communication boundaries, and post-birth relationships. As she shares, "We're building the foundation so that when cracks happen, they remember there's a foundation first."

The most compelling insight? Nearly everyone initially resistant to these sessions later expresses profound gratitude for the experience. Through real examples from her practice, Rachel illustrates how these sessions prevent misunderstandings and establish authentic connections between parties who might otherwise struggle to navigate their different communication styles and expectations.

We explore what really happens in psychological screenings (hint: they're looking for human, not perfect), how agencies are increasingly including mental health benefits in surrogacy contracts, and why even experienced surrogates benefit from professional facilitation of difficult conversations.

Whether you're considering becoming a surrogate, seeking to build your family through surrogacy, or simply curious about this unique journey, this conversation offers invaluable perspective on the human elements that make surrogacy journeys successful beyond the medical procedures.

The 4th trimester, also known as postpartum, is a very untalked about thing??? Why!?!?

It seems almost taboo to talk about postpartum, or at least it use to. This week we are speaking with 2 surrogates who had very different postpartum journeys. One is an L&D nurse and one who is a doula, and they both give us some great advice and tips!

There is so much about postpartum that isn’t talked about and it really should be. As a community of women we can help each other by starting the awkward and uncomfortable conversations and 100% of the time at least one other woman will be able to relate and feel seen/heard.

Postpartum is very much a rollercoaster ride, but hopefully by starting this conversation more will come and nothing will be “weird” because birth and postpartum is all “normal”.

Sophia’s Surrogacy Journey Continued:

Part 1 of Sophia’s story was about her journey of being pregnant with Surro babe.

Part 2 of Sophia’s story is about breast milk and pumping after Surro babe is born and intended parents no longer need the supply.

Pumping has no light switch to turn it off the next day. It’s a whole process to stop producing, and Sophia wasn’t ready to wean. So she looked to social media to see if she could help others who were looking for milk supply.

Sophia eventually created a community which is listed below and helped over a dozen babies.

If you are curious about pumping after Surro babe, DEFINITELY give this podcast a listen!

This week we had the lovely honor of talking with Stephanie Levich, founder of Family Match Consulting, where she is also an intended parent matching consultant.

Stephanie shares about her journey in the surrogacy world and how that lead her to creating her own business and helping over 3,000 intended parents match with a lovely surrogate, that in turn helped grow their family.

She also touches on how surrogacy and the IVF community has always had a special place in her heart as she was adopted. Writing a children's book titled "From the Start" which talks about the many different ways a family can grow. (Link below)

Stephanie and her team at Family Match Consulting services are not only a fraction of the cost compared to agencies, they also strongly believe that a match should not just be made because of common interests, but rather a match should be based off of a true connection and a solid base to form a relationship.

If you don't know about Grace's second journey we encourage you to listen to a podcast we did with her called "Friday Facts: Pregnancy Loss in Surrogacy" as we do not ask her to speak on it again in this podcast. But in short, it's been a long and emotional journey that ended in a beautiful and healthy baby boy.

Congratulations Grace, her family, her IPs and their family. Thank you for always being so truthful, graceful, and opening up with us and everyone on the emotional roller coaster that surrogacy can be, but also how absolutely AMAZING, LOVING, and BEAUTIFUL it is, even with all the emotions.

(P.S. You will always be welcomed here and we hope to continue to have conversations with you in the future, no matter if you are "retired" Once a surrogate, always a surrogate!)

Let's talk about relationships and intimacy during a surrogacy journey. There is a time in a journey when abstinence is usually required and it could last longer if you are carrying multiples or put on bed rest.

While we surrogates may be the ones going through the process and taking a lot on with being pregnant and still trying to do all the super mom things of cleaning, laundry, etc. There may come a time when we need to ask for help. OH MY WORD WHAT!? I know that is something the majority of us have a hard time acknowledging and accepting, but it's okay to ask.

We all hope never to have to ask, but a journey is a mystery and we never know what will happen. We dive into talking about how it feels to release some of our duties to our partners and how our partners feel watching us go through the highs, the lows, and the in-between on these journeys.

This is definitely a great podcast for partners to listen in on to get some information, especially if this is their first journey.

This week is a bit different. My two close friends and I have been on a 2 year journey, which isn’t the norm for surrogates.

We all address some stigmas that we can say with 100% certainty are not true!

Please know if you’re a first time surrogate this is not the norm, but it is possible to take this long. 2 years of all our lives have been put on hold and yet we still are pushing forward wanting so much to help someone have a baby. 💕

WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?

Here’s what we know:

SEAM is a surrogacy escrow company and the owner is nowhere to be found, possibly along with all the money IPs have invested.

Anna Marie is just one of hundreds of people affected by this tragic event. The whereabouts of Intended Parent’s money is the biggest question of all! Surrogate’s compensations have come to a screeching halt.

Agencies are not at fault, and lawyers are doing all they can to help.

To find out what we all can do please tune in and share this podcast.

It’s unfortunate that surrogacy only gets a huge buzz when it’s something devastating or negative. 😒 However, right now the best way those who are not directly affected can help, is by sharing the message of whats happening.

⚠️⚠️⚠️Please be aware that this conversation at times might be a bit graphic. If you are not in the right state to hear this conversation please do what is best and needed for you. 💕

This week was a hard conversation. We are speaking about pregnacy loss in surrogacy. The ladies in this Friday Facts are kind, brave, and incredibly strong to speak publicly with us and all of you regarding their experience with loss in surrogacy.

Recently we have all been seeing more pregnacy loss in surrogacy than before. Is it happening more often or are ladies speaking up more about it? This is never something any of us think about, even when we read contracts and are explained the possibilities, we tuck it to the side because “that wont happen to me!”

But this conversation isn’t to scare people it’s to help inform others and let them know they are not alone. The ladies in this video talk about the rollercoaster of emotions they each experienced, including isolation. And they all want you to know you are not alone and there is a whole community of women to help and support you in an experience like this.

When tuning in today, please do so with caution as we do speak in a lot of detail. And please know none of us are psychologists or therapists but all of our DMs are open for anyone who needs a friend to speak with.

Our hearts go out to all the Surrogates, their families, and the Intended Parents who have experienced loss. 🤍

This Friday we are discussing transfers that don’t take, because we did not fail, the embryo did not fail, it simply did not take. And that’s okay. It can be heartbreaking and we as surrogates are allowed to feel the emotional rollercoaster too, but remember YOU DID NOT FAIL.

Often times surrogates place blame on themselves and sometimes others place blame on the surrogate. But in order to create life, SO MANY things have to align perfectly, not just semi-perfect, but 100% perfectly. And sometimes there is no rhyme or reason, it just doesn’t work.

Unfortunately sickness was spreading like wildfire and some girls were unable to make this conversion, but fortunately Mary was able to speak with us and Ellen has experienced this as well.

This week we talked with Alycia, a Canadian Surrogate. She has experienced many ups and downs in her first journey, including a missed miscarriage.

Alycia shares her experience with us and you in hopes that her words and journey might help others who have experienced the same thing or are going through something similar.

Alycia, thank you so very much for sharing your story and grief. We understand how hard it is to talk about these type of situations, but we also understand how important it is. So thank you for opening up with us and the community 💕 We wish this type of thing never happened to anyone, but the sad truth is that it does and we don’t want anyone to feel alone.

Again, our hearts go out to all the Surrogates, their families, and the Intended Parents who have experienced loss. 🤍

Please be aware that this conversation at times might be a bit graphic. If you are not in the right state to hear this conversation please do what is best and needed for you. 💕

We’re back with another Friday Facts!!! This week we talk about C-Sections! And between the 4 of us women there have been 10 C-Sections. So if you have never experienced one or are curious to learn more about them, or even if you have experienced one this is such a great conversation to listen to. And as an outsider (someone who has not experienced this) I just want to say to all those c-section mamas out there, you are badass! A warrior! I thought I knew what it meant to have a c-section and the recovery of one, but it wasn’t until speaking in depth with these 3 ladies that I truly understood just what that entails for you and your support team. 💕

SURROGACY IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING! However, not every journey is. The title is no lie, but just because this journey was hell doesn’t mean surrogacy isn’t beautiful and amazing! I still was able to help a family grow. But the way I was treated by everyone involved in this journey was and is disgusting! We all had to sign an NDA so this is strictly based off my side of the story. (Which is my truth!) But I refuse to let this journey define me and define surrogacy. Not all journeys have to be business or as the world is calling it “transactional”. Mutual respect can take a journey in the right direction.

I share this story in hopes that a surrogate never has to go through something similar. 💕
