Episode 186: This Was Not an Easy Episode for Me to Post. I'll Leave It at That.

Toward the end of this episode, I made a reference to a dark presence that has been coming against one of my kids. I incorrectly stated that I explained this in Episode 186, but it actually became Episode 185 by the time I posted it.

I also referenced an interview with Graham Honeycutt, who has been on this podcast a couple times under the alias "Rory Uhtredson", but that interview has now become Episode 187, which I'll be posting in the next several days.

God is jumbling up my own personal plans for the trajectory of content for this podcast, which is fine with me, but it does require me to clarify the errors in the course I have plotted at the time of recording each episode.

Episode 185: Bizarre Recurring Dream In What Feels Like a Real Location Here In the Human Realm, Possibly Switzerland. The Building In this Dream is Full of Evil, Occupied by Underworld Beings and Bizarre Hybrids. The Wicked Being Running the Show is Hiding from Me in a Room on One of the Two Upper Floors of the Building in the Dream. This Being Was Intending to Hunt Me, But I'm Now Hunting It.

This sounds bat-crap crazy, but I have reason to suspect that something about this dream is causing an auditory echo in my small corner of the human realm rather quickly after I'm awakened from it, but I don't know yet the source of the two things I hear. And I'm not the only one who's hearing them.

My working theory at the moment is that, for whatever reason, at this time, something is violating a cosmic law that God put into place at Creation and that violation is possibly altering, distorting, or momentarily erasing the boundary between the human and non-human realms. Maybe something similar to when the mutinous bene elohim of Genesis 6 crossed into our human realm. I don't know. Working on trying to make sense of a host of things that have been occurring. This recurring dream, I believe only the second in my life, is one of those things.

(Correction: In this episode, I mentioned two episodes in which I discussed the large, white angel with a sword who stands guard over me and my household. I incorrectly stated these were Episodes 127 and 163. The correct episode numbers are Episode 145, beginning at the 5:20 mark, and Episode 163.)

Episode 181: Memory Wipe, Fatigue, Deja-Vu, Headaches. These are ever-increasing symptoms that I've been observing in higher frequency and in greater numbers of people over roughly the past year. It could be caused by something introduced to the air, food, or water we consume, but I suspect that some form of tech is at the root of its cause. Two months ago, I saw a significant uptick in the symptoms. Two weeks ago, I saw a dramatic increase in these symptoms in people around the world in which I interact. So I began asking people about these symptoms and their answers surprised me...

Apple podcasts recently changed its formatting of podcasts. The new formatting greatly shortened and chopped off most existing titles of podcast episodes and that stinks because it limits peoples' ability to scan through titles to get a hint of the content of each episode to decide if it might be of interest to them without having to click on every episode to see a summary of the episode.

A ways back, while I was hiding in a coffee shop to shut the world down for a bit, Emma and one of her co-workers approached me and asked me if they could pray for me because they felt led to. And then they prayed specifically for some difficult circumstances that had happened to me earlier that morning without me having ever met or spoken with them before. What they were praying for made no real sense to them, but their prayer was so specific to the precise details of what had transpired earlier that morning I knew that God was all over them as they prayed.

Emma's co-worker moved on to other things, but Emma was still around when I went back to look for her to ask if she would be willing to come on the podcast, which she was. I knew when I first met Emma I was in the presence of one of the finest younger women I've met in my life.

Emma agreed to come onto the podcast to speak more directly and clearly to other women than I ever could. She brought a friend, Emily, to join her and we recorded what turned out to be one of my most enjoyable and informative interviews to date.

Emma and Emily are definitely two of the finest younger women I have ever been blessed to meet and interviewing them for this episode left me with a greater sense of encouragement about the future of our culture.

If you have not already listened to it, I showcased my first "chance" meeting with Emma and her former co-worker in Episode 130 and I highly recommend listening to it before or after this one.

This interview was a lot of fun. As we moved along through the interview, I began throwing bigger and more difficult off-script questions to these three wonderful young ladies and, before we finished, they had helped me immensely in understanding the "how" of putting at least some portion of our culture back together and to prevent it from breaking more than it already has.

As is typical of most occasions when I turn on the mic, every imaginable obnoxious background noise congregated in the vicinity so I had to heavily filter this recording. The three young ladies I am interviewing have relatively small voices so it took tremendous effort amplify their voices while filtering out background noise at the same time without making them sound like we were all sitting in a tin can. I ask you, the listener, as it gets closer to the end of this episode, to ignore the background of the mower I could not fully remove without removing the voices of those in this interview. I was amazed by some of the depth and maturity in the content of much of what these three young ladies offered for their opinions and thoughts on some very serious matters pertaining to the health of our national culture, church, parenting, and life in general, and I strongly believe that every person who hears this interview will be better for having listened to it.

I wrapped up this interview with more hope for the future of our culture than I did when we started. I hope you walk away with the same.

Andy, who formerly went by the alias "Anonymous" on this podcast, comes back to discuss with me the cultural relevance of Jesus and the Bible in our modern world. I have talked with a lot of people about two of my greatest passions in life - Jesus and the Bible - over the decades, but in the past month an unusually significant number of people have approached me with a lot of serious life questions about both, seemingly out of the blue. And since I can't ignore patterns or breaks in typical patterns, which I have shared in many episodes of this podcast, I went to a trusted friend who leads a large Christian congregation, a man whom I have grown to deeply trust over the years, to have a discussion about this very matter to see if perhaps this anomaly is isolated with me or if I am witnessing a cultural shift.

Andy is an interesting pastor, namely in the fact that he doesn't pass judgment upon those whom he meets, he rarely meets a stranger, loves the Bible, loves people, and has had the patience to not only believe in me when seemingly almost no one else did and when I was near the end of myself, but to have my back and remain my friend for 11 years now, which is no small feat unto itself because I can be a major unintentional PITA because of the jagged edge that life has carved into me through an exceedingly painful road I would never have chosen for myself to travel, but would travel again in a heartbeat. He is a man who has earned my sincere respect and there are not a lot of men about whom I can state that.

I did a timelapse with Andy in episodes 122 and 123 that, while only two episodes in length, spanned almost a year of his life through an exceedingly difficult period of his life and leadership of a rapidly growing church. I strongly recommend you jump back and listen to a Christian leader handling hardship in an entirely vulnerable and admirable manner in these two episodes.

Rory Uhtredson is one of the best men I know. No one would guess that this man of infectious encouragement buried his young daughter only five years ago. His story is one of triumph and how to face adversity with courage and faith. Rory has the receipts to prove it. His story was the topic for episode 110.

After devoting the past decade to being a voice for men and recording most of the 150+ episodes of this podcast to try to bring attention to men's issues, I am shifting gears to run down the road of seeming randomness that isn't random, the road for which I was made to run down. Culture is complex. I'm not ditching what keeps us grounded and I am not in pursuit of the fantastic or dramatic. I am going to be reaching out to do my best to collect it all. Because somehow it all ties together.

I will likely be unpublishing a lot of previous content and changing course dramatically mid-stream, which will be a mess, it will be confusing to new listeners because the numbering of the episodes and content will not make a lot of sense once I change the name of the podcast, and any sane person would say I should simply start from scratch again. But I don't care. Previous content is part of this journey and I'm not abandoning where I came from.

I'll let listeners know when the name change will take place. It'll be soon. Stay tuned.

At about the 9:08 mark, I misspoke and said "elected experts," but I meant to say "UNelected experts." I don't have the energy or the time to go back and re-record this to correct my mistake. The context of the episode, both before and after that mark, should make it readily apparent to the listener that I intended to say "unelected experts."

This is more of a summary and a little bit of expansion on Episode 51. To get a fuller context for this one, you may consider listening to Episode 51 before or after this one.

As of the posting of Episode 136, I still have not heard anyone posit this notion that came to me about three years ago. Based on the reactions I have received the few times I have floated this out as a subject of discussion, the very premise of my notion is like a framing hammer to the egg shell of modern Christian's views on eschatology, probably because we all have it denominationally figured out, even though we have a host of conflicting opinions. It's a fun grenade to toss out into a room of normal, safe, and denominationally standardized conversation.

If anyone listening has contact info to send link to this to Jon Levi, one of the OG's of the mudflood discussion, please send it to him. He's one of the exceedingly few people I will set aside time to watch what he posts because I respect the journey he is on.

This is, hands down, the "noisiest" interview I have ever conducted.  It took me 7 hours to edit out the majority of the nervous taps, fidgeting, struggling for words, etc. that, to me, showcase the long-term impacts of sustained hypervigilance in any career or life.  While I devoted great effort to editing out the majority of this noise, I also devoted great care to not completely erase it, for this "noise" demonstrates the tremendously destructive impact upon a man who, for whatever reason, maintains a state of sustained hypervigilance for far too many years without giving his mind, body, and spirit a sustained rest.

This is the first part of a two-part interview.  This first interview takes place as this pastor is roughly a month into a 90-day sabbatical, trying to assess the damage to his mind, body, and spirit, after almost 20 years of caring for others far more than caring for himself.

Part two of this time-lapse will be next, an interview 9 months after the first, intended to afford the listener some reflection on how a lengthy sabbatical helped this pastor to start identifying the road to his own healing.  The contrast between the two interviews is as stark as it is insightful to anyone who lives a life of sustained hypervigilance.

I need to correct the passage of the Bible I was referencing at 20:45.  I said I was referencing Matthew 22, but intended to state Matthew 24.  My mind had already spooled ahead to 2 Peter 2 and it threw me off and I accidentally grabbed the wrong chapter of Matthew in my head.

Lloyd Brawn is a man whom I have had the fortune to get to know over the past 9 years and am a far better man for having met him.  As a 26-year veteran (now retired) of one of the largest sheriff's departments in the U.S., Lloyd shares a glimpse of an exceedingly dark period of his life and his road out of that pit with listeners of the MYANA podcast.

You will notice a fair amount of knuckle tapping and other fidgeting in this episode, which I have been unable to edit out and, in a way, don't want to because, having spent about 20 years of my life in career positions that kept me in a state of hyper-vigilance, I understand the fidgeting and don't want to dismiss what sustained hyper-vigilance does to a man's nervous system.  Plus, this is Lloyd's first time on the podcast and it takes a while to get used to talking to a microphone.

I have been earnestly wanting to bring law enforcement officers onto the podcast, but this has proven to be a tall task.  Having stood in their shoes, I understand their reticence to be on the podcast.  Lloyd has graciously and courageously stepped to the plate to discuss the fragility of his own humanity as he endured the emotional and physical beatings of a high-stress career and his long-term marriage to a physically violent woman.

Feminism has run its course, right off the cliff, and men are checking out of dating relationships in large and increasing numbers.  Feminists are noticing this because as the months pass, there are fewer and fewer well-grounded men who have any interest in a dating relationship with women.  The pendulum is swinging back away from the gynocentric world model.  As men, we need to stand on the walls of our cultures and stop the pendulum when it comes back into the center.  If we let it swing past center, we will simply enter another divisive cultural cycle that will allow those who do not have our best interests at heart to continue their work to keep us from doing the one thing that will prevent them from creating chaos in our lives and families - unify as a people within our cultures.  A world full of people unified and standing together in their respective cultures is impossible to control and enslave because there are too many of us to do it, but only if we are standing together within our cultures.

This is part 3 of 3 of the first roundtable on the MYANA podcast.

In this part, Gus delivers what may be the best insight yet on this podcast, no doubt born of his many years of being on the front line of damaged relationships.  The ONE question that couples should seriously contemplate before tying the knot, a single question capable of helping a healthy marriage stay focused and, potentially, take one that is in the ditch and put it back up on the road.

Solo episode about the power of distraction to make a man wander off the path before him.  An old man gave me a piece of advice many years ago that I have found to be true.  It went something like this - "Opportunities tend to be abundant around the man who is on the move in his life.  A fool believes that every opportunity that looks good or innocent has to be from God and ignores the reality that satan is also throwing opportunity in front of us.  The trick to staying on course is learning to discern who put each particular opportunity before us.  Satan doesn't have to send a hurricane when a gentle breeze across our path is sufficient to make us wander off it."

Distraction is something I watch for in my life because it is subtle and has been the most effective means of derailing me from the path I want to walk in my life.  Even though I am constantly examining my life for it, I still fall prey to it time and again.

"Shelby," aged 51, father of six, married for 29 years, entered my life five years ago.  I have been helping men stand back up for about eight years now and, just when you think you've heard it all, a man like "Shelby," a man you thought you knew, collapses that notion with merely a PORTION of his journey through life with a story so heartbreaking and triumphant that you consider dropping the mic and officially decide to stop feeling like your walk through life has been tough.

If you want to hear what a man truly is...if you want to hear what love truly is...if you want to know whether God exists or is real...listen to this episode.  This is the most powerful episode yet of the MYANA Podcast.

"Shelby" suddenly lost his father at the age of 10, beat a man to within an inch of his life at 18, served a lengthy stint in prison because of it, lost one of his two-year-old daughters who was shaken to death by a family member, to then watch his wife triumph over internal decapitation from an accident and meet God in the coma that precipitated after the accident.

"Shelby" is one of the kindest, most patient, and gentlest men I have ever met.  He is a bright spot in my life.  I thought I knew him.  I had know idea of how deep his story goes.  All I can say is you need to hear this episode.

"Hollywood," age 43, gives a glimpse of his story, which includes a failed marriage, life as a single father, dealing with the aftermath of his own father being convicted of murder and subsequently executed for his crime, with a large scoop of a collapsed marriage engagement as a cherry on the top.  In spite of all of it, this interview showcases why I believe in and am so committed to helping men.  "Hollywood" has as much potential as any man I have met, but his getting lost in the trees, while it seems daunting to him, is merely one stepping stone along a path I see leading him to a very promising future.  I see it as my role to help men realize that the trying parts of the journey are what builds us into stronger and better men.

"Andrew," Age 46, now (finally) in a healthy and happy marriage, recounts his past couple decades of journey through the drug-addicted mother of one of his daughters and the ripple this has sent through his life.   While the mother of his daughter died from the drug addiction she would not let go, "Andrew" has been living the repercussions of the impact of her choices from his early adult life.  He has not only gone on to survive, but to now be thriving as a business owner who is in a healthy and happy marriage.  "Andrew" is very much an introvert and this was a difficult interview for him, not only in summoning the courage to talk openly, but to re-live so many painful years of his past.  I had to threaten to hit him with a mallet to get him in front of the mic, but he finally did it.  And his story is one that will hopefully put some scale to your own circumstances and help you realize that, just like him, you are not only not alone, but also that every storm does pass.
