Called beyond the four walls of any building, inMOTION church is a community of believers moving, living, and existing in passionate kingdom culture.
One of the most foundational sermons that Jesus ever preached about the Kingdom. Unfortunately, this sermon has been so misunderstood. Often thought of as mere "blessings", they are actually the values that Jesus personally held. Values that were the manifestation of Love in his life. This is what Divine Love looks like when it takes on human flesh.
Look at the ways in which anger tears at our relationships and at how we find freedom in letting God heal the wounds that foster it.
Ephesus... A culture that centered on the Cult of Artemis. Rumors of Amazonian women and the Queen of the Universe provide answers to a text long abused by some in the church.
Certain passages have always been used to minimize the role of women in the church. They function like a ball and chain on the daughters of heaven. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 is a great example. If taken at isolated face value, women have not business even speaking in church much less leading. However, when we understand the historical, grammatical, and cultural context, we realize that Paul was not issuing a prohibition to be applied in all contexts at all times.
How are men and women supposed to relate to each other? Scripture makes it clear that we are to submit one to another. It is best summed up in the words of Matthew Henry when he said "The woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam; not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved.”
Ever heard of Junia, Chloe, or Phoebe? Fortunately, while the church may have overlooked these women, the Bible did not! A thorough study of Scripture will reveal women functioning as national leaders, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, and even deacons.
While there reasons no women were chosen to be in the 12, Jesus was radically different in how he interacted with women compared to the prevailing culture.
