Catherine Churchman is a Lecturer in the Asian Studies Programme at Victoria University in Wellington. Although her teaching doesn't require her to speak other languages, her personal interest in linguistics has seen her learn Finnish, Estonian, Maori, Hokkien and many more.
We have a very special guest today on our show, shes not just bilingual, shes a polyglot! Inbal speaks English, Hebrew, Spanish, French and a few more. She spent a few years studying in Israel and is now back in New Zealand. She has some really good ideas on how to keep your second or third language fresh.
My guest for this episode speaks 3 languages! English, Tagalog and the very rare Spanish creole language of Chavacano. His name is John, he's a young professional living in Wellington away from his family and tells us how he manages to hold on to his vernacular.
