Each episode Hosts Chris Rider and Steve Waldinger watch the Pilot, or Episode One of a different Television show, both new and old, then discuss it from the perspectives of a fan and of a writer. Then they unfairly judge the entire series based on the one episode.
So close. So close to having a reboot of a show we've done on the podcast, be on the podcast.
But we started the Pod in 2017 and Daredevil (Netflix) premiered in 2015
We are pretty close to it happening (Please Girlboss or Powerless)
So Daredevil is Born Again, on Disney +. We've seen him back a few times in the MCU, including in Echo! How does this series hold up to the original, and to the recent MCU series?
All this plus we end up rebooting Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because why not?
We are back, and as promised we are bringing you Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! And yes we're a couple weeks late, but to make up for it we're discussing Win or Lose, the new, and controversial Disney + show from Pixar!

We've been graced by two drastically different Anime adaptations of American products.
Each a little controversial, mostly for being more of an anime style american series than an anime done for a foreign audience and then brought to the US. However, the Rick and Morty Anime is even more controversial for..... nobody quite knowing what it is?
Chris has never been more confused by a show, and then add on more4 confusion to find the Rick and Morty audience doesn't get it either!
However Teminator was really good!

The MCU is back... the seth MCfarlane cinematic Universe! Wait, oh yeah Echo is part of the other MCU.
After a long layoff, Ted is back. And this time he's on the Goldbergs? Not exactly, but we talk about the similarities. Also, Steve never watched either Ted film.

Quantum leap is a reboot of the classic 1980s show that also serves as a sequel show. Steve and Chris dive in with our limited knowledge of the original and discuss the format, the tropes and whether it's got us hooked.
Andor is a prequel to the film Star Wars: Rogue One. We discuss a little bit of Star Wars overload, and whether the moody drama drew us in. We also discuss multi episode premieres and whether they need to be judged as a whole.

This week Steve and Chris take a look at the Live Action Remake of the classic Anime, Cowboy Bebop. Is it a live action Adaptation that works?
We also look at a rarity, a comic book character neither Steve nor Chris are very familiar with, Hit-Monkey. This is the last of the non MCU Marvel tv adaptations, at this point we've done them all. I think it ends on a bang!

To be clear, these are two different shows... Fairfax on Amazon Prime, 4400 on CW.
So we have a trend. Shows named after streets Steve lives by. Hollywood might be getting lazier... but hey we can roll with it.
4400 is a remake of a show Chris sort of liked, sort of hated back in the Aughts. Now it's been updated for the new decade and is on the CW instead of USA. (also the changed the name from "The 4400" to "4400" but yet it's on "The" CW. Interesting.
Fairfax is a spoof on modern tween culture... and it's fun!

Kevin can F**k himself (4:20) Not so much a now and then, but an inventive dark comedy that takes some influence from the various tropes in Kevin James sitcoms (Kevin can Wait, King of Queens) and some similar sitcoms. It's great and we could have spent an hour talking about it. Just go watch it.

Another week, another World War II themed show on Hulu! This time it's from Germany, but premiering in the US on Hulu.
So, Steve and Chris tried to fine a way to do this episode all in subtitles, to stay true to the show... but they just don't work in Podcasts! Regardless, a show with a great cast, including not nearly enough of Lizzy Caplan in the pilot. Das Boot was an unexpectedly fun ride, and we encourage you to come along with us on it.

A fun show, as this time we have a unlikeable yet likeable antagonist who's not fully the antagonist? And while fun, it's a show about grief, processing grief, living with grief and recovering from grief. But at it's heart it's still a comedy.
We had a lot of fun talking about this show, and recorded it directly after watching.

Directed by and cameo-ing George Clooney, the most famous novel a lot of people have never read comes to Hulu as a mini-series.
We tried for a long time to come up with a good Catch-22 for our intro and we failed. We also couldn't think of one for the show notes. But some great discussion of how the current generation of writers/creatives that came up through the persian gulf/Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts differ from the WW II and Vietnam eras of the previous generations. We also talk about whether the show "works" on screen versus print.
