In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Liverpool, where Palace suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time since March. Dispute a good performance in a feisty first half, Roy Hodgson’s side fell behind after the break, following a Roberto Pereyra curler, as the Hornets were quick out of the traps. This was closely followed up with a Jose Holebas cross-shot, which found the far top corner. Wilfried Zaha became the club’s all-time top Premier League scorer after he netted in the 70th minute, however this wasn’t enough to get the Eagles back into the game. Should it have been a straight red card? Should Joel Ward have done better with his last-minute chance? Where will Max Meyer fit into the Palace system? Should Benteke be dropped? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Liverpool, where Palace, for the first game this season, tasted defeat at home. Despite holding firm for the majority of the first half against the rampant Liverpool strike-force, a controversial and contentious penalty after Mohamed Salah was ‘tripped’ inside the box by Mamadou Sakho. This changed the completion of the game, but still saw Roy Hodgson’s side in the game before Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for bringing down Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored after a swift counter-attack. Was it a penalty? (No) Was it a red card? (Yes, but harsh) How much of a miss will Aaron Wan-Bissaka be? Just what is it about Sadio Mane and scoring goals against Crystal Palace? Where will Max Meyer fit into the Palace system? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

Despite a dull first half, the curtain finally came down on what was another incredible, and ultimately successful, season as goals from Wilfried Zaha – who got his 9th of the campaign – and Patrick van Aanholt – his 3rd in three successive games – secured the three points for Roy’s boys. How good is the Sakho-Tomkins partnership? Will Cabaye sign a new deal? How good has Patrick van Aanholt been in the second half of the season, after being so bad in the first? Having been behind through a deflected Xherdan Shaqiri’s free-kick, Palace equalised midway through the second half after James McArthur finished off a swift counter-attack. In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Leicester City, where Palace thrashed 10-man Leicester City to record their biggest ever Premier League victory. Wilfried Zaha and James McArthur both scored in the first half, before Marc Albrighton has sent off – in the second - for pulling back Zaha when he was clear on goal. Following his dismissal, Palace scored three more, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Patrick van Aanholt and Christian Benteke all scoring late goals, getting on the scoresheet. The result moved the Eagles to 38 points and even closer to safety. Which of the five goals were better? How good is the Sakho-Tomkins partnership? Does Joel Ward deserve to keep his place ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Liverpool, where Palace fell victim to late drama as Mohamed Salah netted six minutes from time to complete a 2-1 comeback win for Liverpool. Despite taking the lead through a Luka Milivojevic penalty in the first half, and keeping the Reds at bay for the remainder of that half, Sadio Mane scored just after halftime to bring the scores level; and later should have been sent off. Mohamed Salah then sealed the win for the visitors, scoring from a tap-in. How did Christian Benteke miss those chances? Should Sadio Mané have been sent off? Will Luka Milivojevic hit double-figures this season? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Manchester United, where Palace surrendered a 2-goal lead. Having fought hard throughout the game, the Eagles deservedly took the lead through Andros Townsend and doubled it, soon after half time, through a quick-thinking goal by Patrick van Aanholt. However, it was heartbreak for Roy Hodgson’s men as Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku cancelled out the earlier 2-0 lead. Late into injury time Nemanja Matic struck home the winner meaning, even though they deserved more for their efforts, Palace were left with nothing for their performance. How good is Aaron Wan-Bissaka? Who’s to blame for the goals? Should Riedewald have come on earlier? How good is the Christian Benteke & Alexander Sørloth partnership? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Tottenham, where Palace’s battling performance against Hotspur ended in defeat. Why is our injury luck so bad? Who was at fault for the goal? How good is the Milivojević-Riedewald partnership - should we see more of it? How good will Alexander Sørloth be? In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Everton, where Palace fell to their first defeat at Goodison Park since 2005. After a promising first half from Palace, three second half goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Oumar Niasse and Tom Davies condemned the Eagles to just their third defeat in their last 16 Premier League games. Luka Milivojević, however, scored a late penalty bringing himself to 7 goals this season, but this was a mere consolation as it was too little, too late. Why is our injury luck so bad? How good will Alexander Sørloth be? Why does Roy Hodgson not like making substitutes? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Newcastle United, where Palace drew 1-1 to share the spoils. Following very poor defending from Roy Hodgson’s men, Mohamed Diame scored from a corner for Newcastle to hand them the lead midway through the first half. But the Eagles captain, Luka Milivojevic, scored his sixth goal of the campaign - and fifth from the spot - on 55 minutes and although Palace applied plenty of pressure in the second half, they couldn’t quite find a way to seal the win their performance merited. Was it a penalty? Why is our injury luck so bad? Should we stick to the 4-4-2 system or change to a 4-3-3 system? Will the new signings improve the squad? In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Burnley, where Palace took a 1-0 win against The Clarets to stretch Roy Hodgson’s team fine run to one defeat in their last 12 league outings. Bakary Sako, who has been rejuvenated in recent weeks, grabbed the only goal of the game, and his sixth of the season, and saw the Eagles solid first half performance rewarded after some great counter-attacking football. Although the second half was slightly tenser, Hodgson’s team battled through and moved Palace within touching distance of the top half of the table. Could we see more of the Sako-Benteke partnership this season? Could Jairo Riedewald be the successor to Yohan Cabaye? What additions are needed in the transfer window? In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Brighton in the FA Cup, where Palace lost 2-1 against arch-rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. In a game which lacked tempo Brighton took the lead after 25 minutes with Dale Stephens getting the goal, but Palace equalised midway through the second half with a stunning strike from Bakary Sako. Although it was level, it was inevitable that former Palace striker Glenn Murray would score and he done just that netting the late winner to seal the win for Brighton. We always knew Glenn was going too scored, didn’t we? When will Bakary Sako get a start in the league? Was ‘THAT’ the ‘goal of the season’? What additions are needed in the transfer window? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Southampton, where Palace recovered from a goal down to beat The Saints. For the first time since November 1990, the Eagles registered their first top-flight win at St Mary's. An opener from Shane Long was cancelled out by James McArthur’s equaliser and then an exquisite first-time shot from 25 yards from Luka Milivojevic insured Roy Hodgson’s side’s unbeaten away record extended to five matches. Who should remain at left-back; Jeffrey Schlupp or Patrick van Aanholt? Will Martin Kelly do a good job in the absence of Scott Dann and Mamadou Sakho? How good is Bakary Sako as an impact sub? What additions are needed in the transfer window? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against runaway league leaders Manchester City, where Palace, against the odds, ended City’s 18-match winning streak. A performance showing passion and spirit saw a result that many didn’t predict, but it could have been all different if Luka Milivojevic had converted an injury-time penalty. It was saved by Ederson and prevented the Eagles from snatching a memorable victory. What is it with Palace and penalties? How much better was Zaha when he was moved out wide? How did Andros miss? How much of a miss will Dann and Puncheon be? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

Shkodran Mustafi’s opener and a quick-fire brace from Alexis Sanchez, either side of an Andros Townsend equaliser, saw the Gunners claim victory despite a late rally by the Eagles. James Tomkins headed in a late Townsend corner, which set up a grandstand finish, but it wasn’t to be as it finished 3-2. When will Palace take more risks in and around the penalty area? Could Palace have gone on to get a draw? When will Ruben Loftus-Cheek play down the middle & Wilfried Zaha out wide? How good was Andros’ finish? In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against the Everton, where Palace surrendered their lead twice to draw 2-2 with Toffees; leaving the Eagles bottom of the league and five points adrift of safety. Having not scored a home league goal against the Toffees since 1994, Palace changed that stat with McArthur scoring 51 seconds in the game; a controversial Leighton Baines penalty just four minutes later followed, with Zaha adding Palace’s second. The evening also hosted a nasty looking knee injury to Mamadou Sakho that saw the influential defender stretched off in some agony early in the second half. How much of a miss will Mamadou Sakho be? Will Palace avoid the drop? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast.

In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Sunderland, which was a dismal display from the team and a dreary performance. Palace fans watched on in utter disbelief as despite a bright start, they conceded four goals before half-time in a game they went on to lose 4-0. Like many games this season once the first goal went in everything else collapsed. The defence, which appeared to show such signs of improvement in the previous game or two, allowed Sunderland to score with such ease they might as well not have been playing at all. Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Everton, which was a match that Crystal Palace could have won. For Sam Allardyce and the fans at Selhurst, there is a sense of injustice that the team had nothing to show for their hard work. Palace were MUCH more organised than they have been in previous games, but Everton were given a free run down their left with Jeffrey Schlupp down injured (And unable to receive treatment due to the referee) and Seamus Coleman capitalised on the ten men – That was all Everton needed to take the points. In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Swansea, where Palace where defeated 2-1 in a game which turned into one of their worst first half performances in a decade according to some fans (Myself included). New boss Sam Allardyce has some justification -- he warned the lack of rest between fixtures could have an impact and so it proved. Palace laboured HORRIBLY under pressure and exhaustion. However Palace got back into the game in the 2nd half and a Wilfried Zaha wonder goal almost got Palace a point but a lack of focus, so often highlighted this season, was the side's undoing again. In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the game against Arsenal, where Palace went into the game with little and no expectation and came out of with little credit after the 2-0 defeat. In fairness to Sam Allardyce's side, it took an outrageously brilliant goal from Olivier Giroud to break the deadlock in the first half, but truth be told, Palace really didn't look like they were going to put up a fight. There is justification, however, with injury struggles and a distinct lack of quality on the bench, that Palace were going to suffer due to lack of fitness and this is something Allardyce MUST address in January. In this week’s podcast Alfonso Greenbrook looks over the ‘Crazy’ game against Swansea, where Palace’s defence once again proved the team’s weakness especially at set pieces. The 5-4 loss at Swansea was the exact kind of performance that sums up the problems that Crystal Palace have had over the last year-- all the quality that the club has is completely negated by an innate aversion to doing the simple things right.
