Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute.Four years ago Hoda Muthana left the United States for Syria to support ISIS as it fought against her own country. Online, she called for people to “spill American blood.” Now she regrets her decision and wants to come back to America. The answer should be a flat no. She claims to be a U.S. citizen by birth, but according to a correct reading of the 14th Amendment she’s not. Her parents were citizens of another country when she was born, meaning that she as well as her parents, to use the language of the 14th Amendment, “were not subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States. It’s not enough just to be born here - birthright citizenship is reserved for those who were born here as children of U.S. citizens. Let’s hope the law soon catches up to the Constitution.
