ronaldj - Donna Summer Singles Mega Mix Started the Megamix in 2012 after the terrible news, by circumstances not continued, finally in 2015 finished the last edits. The tempo of the singles have a wide range and they sound completely different in the the 70ties than decennia later. The mix has contains all 7” singles as far as I know off. It was one of the most difficult mixes to do, but also a very pleasant one. I always like to listen to that great unique voice. This mix takes you on journey through ‘to the centre of your heart’ and you may experience all those memories over the years all again. Donna Summer was very influential in my life. I was 15 years old then I attended my 1st concert to see The Queen Of Disco perform "Love To Love You Baby" along with The Trammps, The Temptations, The Four Tops and others at NYC's Radio City Music Hall! Donna Summer recorded so many songs to choose from, but I chose the ones in this mix for my 1st DS Medley! Feel free to leave any comments and I hope you enjoy and even dance to what you'll hear!
There are so many songs...these are just a few...She was a beautiful soul. The collaboration of her & Giorgio Moroder was genius! When I was a child I heard "Love To Love You Baby" I was obsessed with breathing heavy & sexy music. I can remember mixing it with Do It Til Your Satisfied by BT Express. This was before the DJ turntables. So I was always breaking belts on my record players. I used to buy them at garage sales & flea markets and wear out the belts & the needles. Then there was the disco mix hour on the radio. And Donna Summer was the main theme. I feel Love...Awesome. Evem Brian Eno said "This is the future" He was right. She inspired me to Dj. I didn't even know I was gay at that time. A closet case who liked Donna Summer & disco...LOL. And Bad Girls changed my life. Finally I came out. And then she was hated by the gay community for saying unkind words about AIDS. I was devistated & still a closeted Donna Summer fan. Closeted from the gay comunity..Ha Ha. I remember getting lots of criticism in the 80's for playing her in the clubs. But she was my favorite. Giorgio Moroder jamming on the synth. And I was amazed at her voice. She could hold a note like know other. I miss her... Here's my attempt at a tribute...I love you...Donna Summer! PS. I forgot to mention. When I was 14 years old...I had The Who & Led Zeppelin posters all over my wall in my bedroom. I took them all down and replaced them with one Donna Summer poster...On The Radio. It came free with the DJ mixed greatest hits vinyl 2 record set. Needless to say my family & friends were shocked by all this. That was a discovery of my sexuality even before puberty. Ha Ha.

When I was young around 10 years old I recorded my first tape with some disco tracks, and few years after I discovered Donna Summer with 2 tracks : “I feel love” : amazing electronic sounds (Thank you Gorgio) , "Love To Love You Baby" : almost 17 minutes for 1 track : the 12’’ was born !

Recorded May 2012. Donna Summer was my very first "Diva". What a special voice. She had a way of hitting certain notes that pulled on your emotions. I was devastated when I heard that she had passed and that sadness has lingered on. I wanted to do something to honor her. There weren't many a cappella vocals out there, but I was glad I found this song. Though this isn't as well known as her earlier work, I felt it was very strong. I can't believe how fast this mix came together. I was beyond inspired. When I started to arrange the song, I imagined that she was singing and everyone around her was dancing and feeling love.
