Welcome back! In this episode I was joined by the incredible founder and brain behind Excerise Focus. Imam joins me for an hour long chat to talk about, life, education, faith, culture and so much more. We particularly focus on her desire to help people and how that empowered her to start her own fitness programme. We shared our career journeys, aspirations and setting goals.

This episode was outside of the worlf of sports...I set out to shine a light on incredible people, in different life stages but their beginnings are different. In the episode, I am beyond proud and honoured that my dear friend Nadia joined to reflect on her journey. We recorded a previous episode but it had technical error, in that episode Nadia read out her story... In a way I am glad we had a chance to re record because this episode was going beyond the abuse. We just talked...she is inspirational, strong and an incredible teacher/campaigner and world traveller. Her resilience and strength give me hope, I hope it reaches someone who needs a light. I have learnt lessons on patience, the importance of believing in yourself and finding the courage to move forward. Not looking back and allowing the past to impact your future. In this episode, I was joined by the amazing @iqraaismail.Β Chair & Founder of NUR Womens Football Club, Football Black List Winner, Captain of Somali Womenβs National Team, Featured in many media outlets as well as campaigns such as Nike and Adidas. Iqra is also a second year University student and an incredible leader that we greatly admire. Ps she's only 20!! (Say Masha Allah!!) π . No, seriously, this episode was extra proud moment for me as a Somali. I started the interview as a host trying to give a platform and shine a light on an inspirational person but by the end I was a proud sister. This episode will teach you age has no factor in the growth, maturity and wisdom of a leader. Iqra is years younger than me but I learnt so much as an individual, including epic Somali phrases! π...so shout out to her parents. She did you proud! β€

We continue our BLM series with our amazing guest Idil. She is an incredible voice who is a passionate parent, advocate and sister. In this second episode, Idil shared with us her personal experience with racism in education as a child and later as a parent. Having an uncomfortable conversation around race and identity. Idil also shared with us a harrowing and deeply shocking story involving her brother. The ordeal he went through in a system designed to set him for failure or worse. I was without my cohost Fatma in this one and I didnβt think I could contain my anger but luckily Juweyria was there and we managed to get through it without breaking things!
