She has a wealth of experience in the industry as she has spent more than half of her age acting. Her profile speaks of a woman who was adventurous and was not shy to pursue her passion. Jaxa began her career with roles on the television soap operas Generations (1993) and Isidingo (1998–2000). During her career, Jaxa has appeared in films such as Oddball Hall. (1990), The Bird Can't Fly. (2007), I Now Pronounce You Black and White. (2010), Of Good Report. (2013), Beyond Return and Wedding. (2016). She won an Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Film Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film in the 2013 romantic thriller film, Of Good Report. Jaxa had the leading roles in the eTV sitcom Madam & Eve (2002- 2005). Jaxa announced a hiatus from her acting career in January 2014, during the break she lived in the city of Cape Town, her hiatus lasted nine months. Following her long hiatus she made her career comebacks, since her comeback she has appeared in major television shows such as Shreds and Dreams, Isikizi, 90 Plein Street, Ashes to Ashes, Mzansi Magic drama series Nkululeko as well as having a starring role n the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City as Andiswa.

General Africa has been declared free from wild polio by the independent body, the Africa Regional Certification Commission. Polio usually affects children under five, sometimes leading to irreversible paralysis. Death can occur when breathing muscles are affected. Twenty-five years ago thousands of children in Africa were paralysed by the virus. The disease is now only found in Afghanistan and Pakistan. There is no cure but the polio vaccine protects children for life. More than 95% of Africa's population has now been immunised. This was one of the conditions that the Africa Regional Certification Commission set before declaring the continent free from wild polio. Senegal| Akon has laid the first stone of a new green and futuristic city in Senegal, which will be named after him 'Akon city'.The RnB artist, who has Senegalese roots and was born in the United States, says a big part of the project is to help African-Americans who don't understand their culture. "I wanted to build a city or a project like this that will give them the motivation to know that there is a home back home." the artist said. "So as you come in from America, or Europe or anywhere in the diaspora, and you feel like you want to visit Africa, we want Senegal to be your first stop." The new (6 Billion Dollars) city being built south of Dakar will also try to ease congestion and overcrowding in the capital, where almost four million people live. THE ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION : September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Around 80% of all child cancer cases globally occur in low and middle income countries yet fewer than a third of children are diagnosed in these countries and of those that are treated less than 20% survive. Child cancer is highly curable with survival rates of around 80% in developed countries yet in low and middle income countries tens of thousands of children die needlessly every year from the disease - most dying without any effective pain relief. Poor diagnosis coupled with too few specially trained doctors and nurses and the mistaken belief that child cancer is too difficult to cure combine to create very low survival rates. In fact, at least 50% of child cancers can be cured even in resource-poor environments with relatively simple and inexpensive drugs and procedures which have been known to doctors for decades.
According to the recent South African Children’s Cancer Study Group (SACCSG) registry statistics, for, the five foremost childhood cancers in South Africa are:
• leukaemia • lymphoma (tumours that begin in the lymph glands) • brain tumours • nephroblastomas or Wilms tumours – cancer of the kidneys • soft tissue sarcomas (tumours that begin in the connective tissue)
