Episode notes:

Weddings. Work presentations. Graduations. The big dinner you've been dreading dressing for since the invite landed. These are the moments when what you wear actually matters — and where most of us default to the same safe, forgettable choice out of pure fear of getting it wrong.

In this episode, Lisa throws out the old playbook. No more starting with "what's appropriate." Instead, she shows you how to start with the feeling you want to walk in with — confident, powerful, unmistakably you — and build the outfit from there.

Expect real, practical gold: how to choose colours that actually photograph and film well (because everything's on camera now), how to dress for the room without losing your personality in the process, and why the right unexpected shoe or accessory can turn a "fine" outfit into one people remember.

Lisa breaks it down event by event — wedding-guest dressing that doesn't default to boring, workwear that reads as polished and powerful, graduation outfits that are relaxed but still feel like an occasion, and how to properly dress up for a high-end dinner without it feeling like a costume.

If you've ever stood in front of your wardrobe panicking about a big event, this episode is the reset you need.

Podcast ShownotesIn this episode, I’m talking about why real style starts within, not from endless outside fixes. Inspiration from Instagram, friends, celebrities, and everywhere else can be brilliant — but until you understand your own inherent personal style, it all tends to feel confusing and disconnected.

After 16 years as a personal stylist and having looked inside hundreds of wardrobes, I’ve seen the same two reasons people struggle again and again. In this episode, I break down what they are, why they keep happening, and the practical steps you need to take to start dressing with more clarity and confidence.

I’m also sharing a little update from the New Day Originals pop-up boutique in Notting Hill, where I’ll be styling the new collection tomorrow and chatting about this very topic in real life.

In this episode, you’ll learn: Why looking outward for style inspiration only gets you so far. * The difference between inspiration and true personal style. * The two main reasons people struggle with their wardrobes. * How to start uncovering your own style from the inside out. * Why your wardrobe feels easier once you know what is actually you*.

Mentioned in this episode:* New Day Originals pop-up boutique, Notting Hill. * Styling the new collection tomorrow. * Personal style clarity, wardrobe confidence, and dressing from within.

Episode takeaway:If your wardrobe feels confusing, the answer may not be to buy more, copy more, or follow more trends. The real shift happens when you stop looking for an outside fix and start getting honest about your own style identity.

Style becomes so much easier when you stop asking, “What should I wear?” and start asking, “What already feels like me?”

In this episode of The Style Stories Podcast, I’m joined by the wonderful Lady Terese Robinson — novelist, former PR and events professional, and wife of the late, great Sir Ken Robinson, whose TED Talk Do Schools Kill Creativity? became one of the most watched of all time.

Lady T has lived a richly varied life, from the UK to Los Angeles, and her style story is every bit as interesting as her career journey. We talk about how style evolves over time, why experimentation is an important part of finding your own look, and how she always returns to her core style personality: undone, sexy, classic and chic.

We also get into one of my favourite subjects — the idea that style is ageless. We challenge the outdated, fear-based rules the media still pushes about what women “should” or “shouldn’t” wear at certain ages, and make the case for dressing in a way that feels true to you, not dictated by somebody else’s opinion.

One of the most powerful parts of style is how it makes you feel. When you wear something that feels like you, you move differently, show up differently and feel more confident. In this conversation, Lady T and I talk about how to notice what works, why it works, and how paying attention to that can help you build a wardrobe that feels more and more natural over time.

This episode is a celebration of individuality, confidence and the freedom to dress without apology.

Episode descriptionLady Terese Robinson joins me to talk about style, identity and confidence at any age. We discuss why experimentation matters, why style is ageless, and why the best outfits are the ones that make you feel most like yourself.

In this episode, we’re throwing out the tired, generic style advice that’s been making women feel like they’re getting it “wrong” for years. You don’t need another list of “must-haves”, body shape diagrams, or colour rules – you need to start asking one powerful question:

“Is this me?”

Not:

  • Does this flatter my figure?
  • Is this the right colour for my undertone?
  • Is this on trend for my age?

Those questions are rooted in shame, judgment and external rules. This conversation is about coming back to you.

In this episode, I talk about:* Why generic style rules are failing you (and why they feel so flat and boring) * The problem with shame-based advice like “does this flatter me?” * Replacing “Is this flattering?” with “Is this me?” as your core style filter * How your current wardrobe is already full of clues about your true style * What your home, decor and environment reveal about what you’re genuinely drawn to * How your upbringing, music, culture and memories quietly shape your taste * Why we’ve never been taught to trust our instincts with style – and how to change that * A simple process to start decoding your personal style from what you already own

You’ll learn: How to spot the pieces you actually* love versus the ones you “should” wear * How to use your wardrobe, your home and even your Pinterest saves as a style mood board * How to stop feeling like you’re “failing” at style and start feeling at home in your clothes * Practical questions to ask yourself when you try something on so you know instantly if it’s you

Try this after you listen: Go to your wardrobe and pull out the 5 things you wear on repeat * Ask: What do these have in common? Shape, colour, fabric, mood? * Then walk around your home and notice the same patterns in your decor * Start building your outfits from those* clues – not from someone else’s rulebook

If you’re ready to stop outsourcing your style to strangers on the internet and start trusting your own instincts, this episode is for you.

Reframe how you think and feel about decluttering your wardrobe—with zero guilt, and a lot more you.

In this episode of The Style Stories Podcast, I’m breaking up with the outdated rule: “If you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it.” That tiny sentence has caused more anxiety, shame, and decision-paralysis than almost anything else in your wardrobe. Instead, I walk you through a fresh, kinder, more intelligent way to edit your clothes so your wardrobe reflects who you are now—not a past version of you.

We dive into:

  • Why you’re not wearing so many of the clothes you own (and it’s not because you’re lazy or bad with style)
  • The TWO key questions to ask yourself instead of “Have I worn this in a year?”
  • How to work out whether something still feels like you today
  • How to spot where your wardrobe is unbalanced (workwear, going-out, occasion pieces, everyday “in-between” outfits)
  • Why chasing a perfect 10-piece capsule can actually block your personal style
  • How to start listening to your gut so getting dressed feels easier, lighter, and more you

If you’re ready to stop feeling guilty every time you open your wardrobe and start making calm, confident decisions about what stays and what goes, this episode is for you.

Shownotes:
This week, I’m diving into a fascinating (and honestly, frustrating) new survey from Age Without Limits, which asked 4,000 people about fashion and ageing. Shockingly, two-thirds said they believe you shouldn’t wear fashionable clothes past a certain age.

Why do we keep putting limits on something that should bring us joy? One of the questions I hear most often from my clients is, “Am I too old for this?” — and it always breaks my heart. The real question isn’t “Am I too old?” It’s “Is this me?”

In this episode, I’ll explore:

  • The myth of being “too old” for fashion
  • Why a great outfit has nothing to do with age and everything to do with self-expression
  • Style muses who prove timeless fashion has no expiry date
  • How to build a wardrobe that makes you feel like you — confident, current, and completely authentic

It’s time to forget the “shoulds,” wear what feels good, and rediscover the freedom that comes from dressing for yourself.

Subscribe to my Substack newsletter where I share more thoughts on this topic, plus outfit recommendations and style inspiration to help you feel amazing at every age.

Setting Style Intentions for the Year

A stylish wardrobe isn’t random - it’s rules + rebellion, opposites that attract. Today, Lisa shares how great dressers master both: structure from body shape/colour knowledge + the confidence to break free with your style vibe.

In today's show Your 3 style words: Define your vibe (e.g., "crisp, bold, fluid") – game changer for shopping, decluttering, feeling you*. * Rules as guardrails: Body lines, best colours = fewer mistakes, more confidence. * Rebellion with knowledge: When/how to bend trends, dress codes, play with edge.

Style Intention Framework1. Audit 2025: What lit you up? What drained you? 2. Narrow to 3 words that feel like home. 3. Build 2026 around them – ruthless declutter, joyful buys.

In this heartfelt finale for 2025, dive into the real reason behind The Style Stories podcast and why style transcends mere clothing—it's about embracing your authentic self through wardrobe choices that spark joy.

(This is the reposted - CORRECT episode and it's a good'un!)

In this episode, Lisa kicks things off by shouting out some of the brilliant listeners who’ve left reviews recently (thank you!) and responds to two specific requests for an episode on “elevated casual.” Those messages sparked today’s chat on how to look pulled‑together over the festive season and when you’re WFH – because how you show up at home still affects how you feel and how you work.

You’ll hear loads of ideas for elevating casual looks, from jeans‑and‑a‑nice‑top (the forever hero outfit formula) to easy ways to smarten your everyday knits, denim and flats so you feel stylish but not “done.” Lisa also talks about what she’s actually wearing this Christmas, with party outfit ideas that work whether you’re heading to a house party (no heel dents in someone’s wooden floors, please), a cosy drinks night or something a bit more glam. Jeans and a nice top still absolutely earns its place, but you’ll also hear about the hottest trend for 2025/26: underwear as outerwear – think slip dresses, lingerie‑inspired pieces and “nightie but make it out‑out” styling, for those who dare.

You can also shop the pod: use the link in the show notes to see Lisa’s curated edit and shop her recommendations directly – from elevated casual staples to party‑ready pieces that actually work in real life.

Finally, Lisa shares why now is the moment to grab your ticket for the Super Styling Event: The Winning Wardrobe Formula in January. If you’ve got lots of clothes but never feel like you have outfits, feel a bit lost with your style, or don’t know where to shop and what to buy next, this one‑day event is designed to change that. You’ll walk away with your 3 style words, a clear way to declutter, practical styling tips and outfit ideas mapped out for your real life – and there are only a few spaces left, making it a brilliant Christmas present to yourself.

In this episode, Lisa Gillbe personal stylist sits down with Chamiah Dewey, founder of Dewey, the extra petite clothing brand making waves, and Riccardo Sai, Head of Stories. ‘Petite’ is typically defined as 5ft 3" and under, but as Chamiah and Riccardo reveal, finding stylish, well-fitting clothes becomes even tougher if you’re 5ft or under. Most shops simply don’t cater for you—and shopping the kids’ section can feel demoralising and limiting.

Dewey is changing all that, with chic day-to-day pieces and an exciting launch of their new denim line—specifically tailored for the extra petite frame. Chamiah and Riccardo explain the creative journey behind the brand and their commitment to fit, empowerment, and style for an underserved demographic.

Hear the inside story on Dewey’s recent campaign with two high-profile guests: Paralympian Ellie Simmonds and Strictly Come Dancing pro Jowita, both under 5ft and passionate about redefining what women under average height can expect from fashion. Their stories of frustration—and Dewey’s mission—shine a spotlight on why representation matters in the petite fashion world.

Tune in to discover:

  • Why standard petite sizing rarely goes far enough
  • How Dewey’s designs help women feel confident and seen
  • More about the new denim launch and upcoming collection
  • The brand’s inspiring campaign and celebrity advocates

Welcome to this episode dedicated to style clarity for the new season! Today we’re exploring why knowing your style is the foundation for dressing with confidence, how to decode your style personality, and practical ways to prep your wardrobe for Autumn/Winter 2025.

Why Finding Your Style Matters* Building a wardrobe centered on your authentic style saves time, money, and stress—making daily dressing easier and more creative. * When you know your style personality, you’ll shop more intentionally and avoid chasing trends that don’t feel like “you”. * Style empowers you to express your identity, wants, and vibe—whether that means embracing bold colours, tailored pieces, or something unexpected.

Key Steps to Defining Your Personal Style Audit your wardrobe and call out what you love*: keep only pieces that make you feel great. * Create a moodboard or lookbook of outfit inspiration—notice patterns in colours, shapes, and brands you’re drawn to. * Ignore “rules”: Style is personal, so experiment until you discover what feels authentic. * Shop with intention; invest in versatile basics but layer in statement finds that feel uniquely right for your lifestyle.

Autumn/Winter 2025 Trends Breakdown* Chaotic layering is a top trend: Think mixed prints, clashing textures, and a playful “undone” vibe. * Tailoring & sleek shapes: Structured vests, wide-leg trousers, and midi skirts define this season’s everyday elegance. * Animal prints go beyond leopard—expect cowhide, Dalmatian, and faux fur details for statement coats and accessories. * Earthy tones take the lead—mocha, burgundy, suede, and even touches of red hot for striking accents. * Quiet luxury evolves into ‘maximalism’: bold colours, expressive patterns, and statement accessories help you make a style impact. * Key essentials: Wide leg trousers, knitwear, classic boots, tailored coats, versatile layering pieces.

Unwritten Style: How Street Influence Frees Us from Fashion Rules
with Dawn Pedersen, Co-Founder & Creative Director at Trendzine/TRENDZOOM

In this episode, I’m joined by Dawn Pedersen—trend forecaster, co-founder of Trendzine, and Creative Director at TRENDZOOM. Dawn’s expertise is in reading the cultural landscape: she draws inspiration from street style, mood, and the echoes of past trends to predict where fashion is heading next.

We dive into the powerful influence of what real people are wearing on the street and how this collective mood shapes not just trends, but how we all feel about getting dressed. As Dawn explains, street style has become a global language of self-expression, reflecting shifts in music, art, technology, and culture.

Fashion is no longer dictated by magazines or the runway alone—instead, inspiration is everywhere, and anyone can find their people and their style online.

We discuss the liberating shift away from being told what we “should” wear, and how digital communities give us the freedom to curate a wardrobe that feels authentic and personal. This episode is packed with insight on building a wardrobe that reflects who you are, not just what’s “in.”

We also go on a journey through fashion history, from Coco Chanel’s revolutionary impact in the 1920s—freeing women from restrictive clothing and championing comfort and self-expression—to the present day, where every era’s mood can be recognized in a single photograph.

We explore how fashion is always a product of its time and place, influenced by everything from film to politics to street culture.

Key Topics:

  • How street style predicts and reflects the collective mood
  • The end of being “slaves to trends” and the rise of authentic personal style
  • The digital revolution in finding style inspiration and community
  • Fashion as a mirror of cultural, social, and artistic movements
  • The ongoing legacy of icons like Coco Chanel in shaping how we dress today

Whether you’re a fashion stylist, a trend-watcher, or just want to feel more at home in your own wardrobe, this episode will help you see your clothes—and your influences—in a whole new light.

Today I was joined by Naomi and Sarah from Creative Works Collective to discuss personal branding, personal style and how they are deeply connected. To get a wardrobe that truly feels like you, it's important to know what that looks like! Not many people take the time to step back and really think about that and what that means.

Instead they get caught up in life and buy clothes randomly ending up with a wardrobe that makes no sense and doesn't feel good. The best style is YOUR style and if you can learn how to express that it is really powerful.

That's why I invited personal branding experts Naomi and Sarah to come on and have a discussion around this. We are all better when we have the confidence to be ourselves, to be true to our values and what is important to us.

The same is true in what we choose to wear. We are saying something with our clothes and often that is the first impression people get of us before we've even said a thing!

We discussed this and lots more including our mutual obsession with the brand ME&Em which has now gone over to America.

I hope you enjoy today's discussion; it makes you think differently about your style and wardrobe.

Please remember to hit the follow button and leave a review. It would mean the world. 🌍

Lots of us now have to be on camera for work, in interviews, meetings, pitches or for business. Today I was joined by media training expert Roz Morris to chat about how you can look professional and have real presence online. Roz has written a book all about this called The Visual Revolution Guidebook, packed with tips on how to look good on camera with a section all about podcasting and I get a mention! Roz showcases The Style Stories Podcast and gives tips on starting your own. This is the world we now live in - digital and online and to get ahead, it's worth looking more professional and polished online.

All of this ties in with personal style as it's about perception and how you are perceived - another form of communication. What you wear is non-verbal communication and this is an extension of that.

As well as being an author, Roz is an experienced broadcaster, ex-BBC journalist and is the MD of London's leading media training company TV News London.

I hope you enjoy this chat!

This episode is for Mums on the run, working women, people with s**t to do who want to look nice but NEED to feel comfortable too. Most of us need a pretty casual wardrobe these days and comfort is KING.

No one wants to do the school run in heels but that doesn't mean we want to look scruffy and unkempt. There are really easy ways to elevate a casual wardrobe and that is the main topic of the show today.

I had this chat with Jo & Rachel from small UK independent brand ByElleven. They stock streetwear-inspired casual wear, design their own line of more elevated clothing and stock upscaled vintage too.

We discussed the benefits of tailoring in the wardrobe, why you get excellent tailoring in charity shops, why we'll never wear Crocs and what we love to wear on a night out. Enjoy the show!

Today I sat down with Keira from Scott-Samuel, a small accessories business here in the UK. We got festive and discussed our favourite party outfits, how it's great to still be casual but with a bit of sparkle, plus the hot trends of the season.

Last year we saw a lot of silver trousers around but this year there a few more trends out there. Not that you should dress 'trendy!' that's certainly not for everyone. We talked about how you can repurpose what you already own and what to wear if you don't really like dressing up at all.

Your Christmas party outfit inspiration is right here!

This episode goes deep into style confidence and finding your sense of self and style confidence.

Becoming comfortable in your own skin is a lifelong journey and it's harder for some people than others.

The best thing you'll ever wear is confidence but what has that got to do with clothes? EVERYTHING. There are so many hidden emotional messages when it comes to your clothes.

Are you holding back with your style because on some level you don't feel you deserve to look good?

You don't want to be a show-off but this is tethered to worrying too much about what others think of us.

Be who you truly are and not a version other people think you 'should' be.

This conversation runs beyond my area of expertise in fashion so I invited the confidence and mindset coach Kate Stirling on to The Style Stories podcast to discuss the link between confidence, clothes, truly being who we are - unapologetically and allowing ourselves to look good!

A fascinating chat that really explains clothes are so much more than just something you wear.

We even touched on First Lady Style - how Hilary Clinton was the first USA First Lady to embrace looking good and how she got shot down for it.

Lots packed into today's episode - enjoy!

This week I was joined by Katie Miner, a personal stylist from Colorado. We discussed how style rules can be more confusing and restrictive than actually help you. So what can you do instead? When it comes to personal style, it's far better to trust your instincts and work out your style vibe. We are bombarded with choice and it can be so overwhelming so it's no surprise that people end up only wearing a small percentage of their wardrobe.

The key to having a great wardrobe is to have the right mix pieces in it not lots of volume and the key to great style is knowing your style vibe and what you truly like, sticking to that and ignoring the trends.

There's no denying we are in the influencer era. Despite the fact some people are saying it's over...! To be able to see someone who is your size and shape wearing an outfit rather than just a skinny size 8, 5ft 8" model is so much more enticing and it's a very powerful marketing tool for brands.

I was joined today by Jo, the founder of clothing company The Cotswold Shed and Rachel from @rachellovesstyle

Both ladies share their style stories and evolution over the years. We all agreed we have become more confident as we've got older but some people hold back as they get older and worry too much about what others think. Hopefully we can help people to see there is a lot of joy to be found in wearing a great outfit!

Quite simply you don’t, and life can be so much more joyful for it.

Do you love the French look?

Timeless and effortless. But how do you actually achieve it?

In this episode I am joined by Founder of Aurélie, Lucy Robinson. She has created a wonderful brand with a personal touch. Lucy writes handwritten notes with every order, to make each and every purchase feel special.

Aurélie is all about creating timeless looks rather than following fast fashion trends, something French fashion is all about. Lucy shares how to get the French look from jeans to jackets, as well as why the French just get fashion right.

We also talk about how to feel confident in your clothes and the impacts the information we see in the media can have on us.

One of the most important messages from this episode is to learn more about yourself and make sure that your wardrobe reflects that at all stages of life.

Amy and Lisa also tell all about their amazing product NUDI SPRAY™, something that will revolutionise the lives of so many women out there going through perimenopause and menopause.

They had a moment of inspiration during 2022 whilst comparing sticky patch stories following their summer holidays. Neither friend had discovered a reliable, effective or easy means of removing HRT patch glue, leaving them feeling self-conscious about living very publicly with unsightly marks on their skin.

This led them on a quest to find a solution, and after months of research and development, they had created NUDI SPRAY™.

Lots of us have to get up and speak to a crowd at some point and confidence is key! This is a special episode dedicated to public speaking with grace, confidence and gravitas with a true expert, Caroline Goyder.

I've known Caroline for many years now and love her compassionate, calm take on how you can own a stage. She is the queen of owning who you really are and leaning into that - not trying to be someone you are not or someone other people expect you to be.

This is a big part of the essence of The Style Stories Podcast. Being authentically who you are through your style but also in how you speak and act! In this episode we covered:

  • How important it is to say yes to things that scare you

  • How to be authentically yourself when public speaking/on stage and why it matters

  • How to battle the nerves and self-doubt

  • How everyone has imposter syndrome and why that is a good and normal thing!

  • Also, what to wear when public speaking 👗

Caroline Goyder is the author of 3 books with two of them dedicated to public speaking.

She has done a Ted Talk that has been watched over 10 MILLION times! Watch that here.

She is also a course creator and has a ton of free resources to help you if you need to step up publicly at work.

This week Lisa was joined by podcast host, TV presenter and stylist Emma Lightbown to talk all things style. Emma mostly styles for TV and adverts and explains how the clothes the actors wear are crucial to telling the viewer who they are. This is also true in real life, what you wear tells a story about you.

If you think about TV dramas, the characters are always dressed ina way that brings their character and back story to life so WE the viewer believe in their story. This is a great example of just how powerful visual/non-verbal communication really is! What you wear tells a story about you because that's a big part of how humans communicate with each other.

We also discussed the changing face of the High Street - how it's so much harder to shop right now because so many shops are closing down. Emma shares her passion for Vinted shopping and we disagreed on the joys of shopping in TK Maxx! You've got to be in the mood to shop in there...!

I hope you enjoy this week's episode. Please remember to follow/subscribe and leave me a review. ❣️

A bit of a workwear special today - especially if you work in Corporate but these tips apply to any workplace. As I've mentioned many times on this podcast, what you wear matters. Clothes can be used as a tool for success and importantly as armour to help you look polished and professional and feel it inside.

But that's not enough by itself. Of course you need to be good at your job as well as looking the part and this is the topic of discussion in today's podcast.

If you work in a professional environment or a corporate workplace, how do you look and feel your most confident self?

I invited Annelise Peso, a leadership coach onto the podcast to discuss this and lots more. Annelise is an ex-corporate lawyer who used to be Head of Legal at Morgan Stanley. She is now a leadership coach helping executives in demanding jobs to show up as the best version of themselves at work whilst looking after their own well being. Annelise is also an Italian passionate love of fashion! She shares how important her style is to her and why you shouldn't be afraid of dressing up.

We cover:

  • The power of self care

  • Boundaries at work

  • How to look and feel confident in a demanding workplace

  • How to deal with stress at work

  • Fashion and its place in the workplace today.

This week’s episode is all about colour and the fascinating psychology behind it. Colour makes us feel things, we associate times and feelings with certain colours. Lots of people can’t bear to wear their school uniform colours and I've got a strange hatred of the colour orange.

This episode really went off on some interesting tangents! I love it when that happens, when the chat just flows and you make new discoveries along the way. My guest today was my friend and long-time collaborator Teresa Klasener. Teresa is the resident mindset coach here on The Style Stories Podcast and an avid fan of wearing bright colours and loves a bright lipstick.

In this episode we covered:

  • The Psychology of colour
  • Using colour to tell a story in the movie Poor Things
  • What is colour analysis – is it naff or worth it?
  • Why block colour makes us think of American newsreaders
  • Why self-proclaimed stylish people turn their noses up at wearing colour
  • How colour can be used to create a mood in movies
  • How brands use colour to make us buy stuff

I hope you enjoy this week's episode, I really loved this discussion.

I am joined by one of my listeners this week - Zena Everett. Zena is a leadership coach, author and public speaker and she helps people to project confidently at work. My job is to help people LOOK the part at work so our skills work well in tandem. We had an interesting discussion around:

  • Using clothes as armour at work

  • How our style evolves over the years as we transition through life

  • Why you don't need to look like everyone else at work anymore

  • The modern workwear minefield

  • Plus we asked, can you be taken seriously at work if you wear stylish clothes (spoiler alert - YES of course you can)

We covered a lot - this episode is focussed on how to project yourself in the workplace from the point of view of a stylist and a leadership coach.

We also did a giveaway. Get a free copy of Zena's book if you follow us both on Instagram and DM each of us saying 'BOOK'

Following on from the last two episodes with fellow London Stylist Lizzie Edwards, I am digging deeper into how to create a perfect capsule wardrobe.

This is going to look different for everyone. We are all so different! One person loves wearing dresses and florals, another is a minimalist. It's all about your taste and your vibe so how does this translate into your actual wardrobe?

In this episode I cover 4 main things you can do to really nail this down. The benefits that follow after are amazing! Once you know what really works you can ignore what doesn't, shop more efficiently and get so much more from your wardrobe. Dressing like your authentic self massively boosts confidence too and that has positive effects throughout life.

If you feel stuck in a style rut then it's probably time for a change. The start of a new year is a perfect time to reassess your style and I've got the tools to help you do that.

This week I'm excited to have The Style Stories regular - Teresa Klasener joining me on the podcast to talk all things mindset.

What the hell has mindset got to do with style and fashion? EVERYTHING. Because your mindset plays a massive part in ruling your life. It can be a powerful tool or it can hold you back and it's well worth having a listen to find out how.

One of the main reasons people get stuck in a frustrating mindset is because they have fixed ideas about what they like or what they feel they 'should' wear. This only holds back your style and keeps you stuck.

You could be having so much fun with your style but are you feeling stuck with it? Make sure you have a listen, there is so much to learn in this episode.

'Every good wardrobe starts with a declutter' is one of my most said sayings because I'm determined to hammer this point home! I have been a personal stylist for 15 years and I have seen inside literally hundreds of wardrobes. I can confirm that it is very rare to find a perfectly organised wardrobe - I usually come across wardrobes stuffed full of clothes ut not even the right clothes. No wonder so many people struggle to find good outfits and end up buying random stuff so often.

In this episode, I take you through the steps to effectively declutter your wardrobe. Taking the time to do this will have instantly positive results on your style, you will feel lighter and more in control of your wardrobe. In this week's episode I am joined by the best-selling author of the book - Big Dress Energy, consultant, TV commentator, podcast host and fashion psychologist Shakaila Forbes-Bell to find out what BDE is and how you can use it to be the absolute best-dressed version of yourself. Buckle-up because you are going to learn so many gems in this episode you won't look at your style and wardrobe in the same way again! This is powerful stuff from Shakaila who has recently appeared on Lorraine and This Morning to discuss this hot topic - the psychology behind clothes. It is fascinating stuff that will transform how you get dressed! I have to say, this particular episode of The Style Stories Podcast is one of the most eye-opening and transformative episodes I have ever recorded and I am SO excited to share it with you. You need to hear this if you are stuck in a style rut, or unsure about what your style is, or have been struggling to shop for clothes. It's for you if you have a wardrobe full of clothes BUT still feel like you have no good outfits! Hell, everyone needs this deep dive into WHY we get dressed the way we do. Uncovering your personal style is one of the most transformative things you can do for yourself - what you wear and your style is part of your identity after all so it's pretty important in the great scheme of things. You can use clothes to seduce and be alluring, to get jobs, to influence others, to feel good about yourself and to hide away too. Above all, fashion is FUN and should bring you joy. I really hope you enjoy listening to the brilliant Shakaila Forbes-Bell as much as I enjoyed interviewing her.

This week I am joined by fellow stylists Sarah Gilfilan from Sartoria Lab and Sally Smy from Queen Bee Styling to discuss Spring wardrobe must-haves, our favourite brands, favourite trends and the faux death of the floral dress! What does the latter mean I hear you ask!? Well, tune in to hear more but in short, John Lewis announced that no-one is going to be wearing floral maxi's anymore and this is a dead trend.

We discuss how the dress is probably one of the most useful pieces you can have in the wardrobe so this sweeping statement must be nonsense. The best way to dress? In a style that suits your personality and lifestyle - forget the trends, find what you love and stick with that.❤️

Brands we talked about: Sideline, Reiss, New Day Originals, Rixo, Aspiga, Anine Bing, Nobody's Child, NN07, Norse Projects, John Lewis.

This week I am joined by professional copywriter and fashion lover Georgina Nestor. Georgina is wildly successful in her field and shares the same values as I do around the importance of showing up authentically, not caring what others think and saying it how it is.

Georgina loves fashion and make up and her image is a really important part of who she is. She believes in using clothes and make up to improve your mood and be successful in life.

As a plus size woman she finds it really difficult to shop on the high street. We discuss where she shops, great jeans and how there is still a long way to go for representation in the shops. She still finds it easier to shop online and usually finds that bigger clothes in the shops are frumpy and tucked away in the corner of a store. Things still need to change.

I hope you enjoy this episode.

This week a big City law firm sent an email round to staff saying 'dress like you are going to Annabel's (the exclusive private members club) - if that's not confusing as a work dress code I don't know what is. The subtext is ditch your suits unless you have an important meeting but what do you wear the rest of the time?

We discuss this and lots more in this week's chatty episode.

The common thread that runs through all of these podcasts is how important it is to wear what you love and understand what that is. Until you spend a bit of time working out the styles of clothes that really suit you and make you feel 'right' it is easy to get distracted and make mistakes. Instead of focusing on trends, concentrate instead on building a wardrobe that has longevity with key pieces that really suit you and make you happy. If you suit skinny jeans and all the fashion editors are saying they are 'out' and you don't suit wide leg jeans which are 'in' isn't it better to wear the shape that suits you?

Once you find your personal style it becomes easier to shop and pull together a wardrobe you love. Listening to your gut and working out what works is time well spent.

This is the main topic of discussion with today's guest Finula Crowe of dress brand New Day Originals. Fin created the brand in lockdown in 2020 when she had to shut down her event dress boutique. She really hasn't looked back since and now creates beautiful, sustainable and wearable dresses that elevate any wardrobe.✨

This week on the podcast I am joined by Hannah Pearn, an expert in acupuncture for fertility.

Hannah LOVES fashion and she's been on the podcast before and spoke with such passion about both topics, fertility and fashion, I invited her on again. Hannah helps many women struggling to conceive with her specific acupuncture and other therapies at her London clinic and with online courses (her website is below if this affects you). As a person, Hannah believes in the power of fashion, she always dresses up for her clinic days and she has a signature style. She has an impressive haul of jumpsuits in particular which really work for her life and style. You know the saying, if it 'aint broke, don't fix it. How lovely to simplify your fashion choices in a busy world full of so many choices! She also chats about how you shouldn't shop with PMT and how your cycle affects how you feel like getting dressed. Fascinating stuff! Like I always say on this podcast, find your personal style and everything falls into place.

This is a special episode all about choosing the right glasses for your face and personal style. It's actually a really difficult decision and glasses often aren't cheap either so you want to get it right. Zoe has lots of tips to share and is a total expert in the eyewear sector. Whilst face shape is a consideration, personal style is more important because you've got to feel like yourself! Glasses can really make an outfit, they can be a statement, or they can drag down an outfit too if you play it too safe. The thing is, there's no need to play it safe these days as there is so much choice. Rather than go to Specsavers (no offense Specsavers) Zoe talks about all the wonderful independent brands and shops that should not be overlooked. There really is something out there for everyone. If you prefer a more classic look she has the brands for you, if you'd rather make a bold statement then there are some excellent brands out there that can really elevate your look in an instant. If you've got to wear glasses, why not have some fun doing it🤷‍♀️ If you'd like some professional advice directly with Zoe you can book a Zoom consultation with her or she can even accompany you to choose your glasses.

The Monthly Mash Up episode is when I am joined by fellow stylists to talk about what we've spotted in the shops, trends, TV, and anything that's been going on around us this month that is (mostly) style-related.

In this week's episode, I manage to offend the whole City of Portsmouth completely by accident whilst trying to make an important point! Luckily Sally of Queen Bee Styling was on hand to dig me out of a hole and eloquently explain where I was coming from! The point was, people dress down to hide, it can show a lack of confidence. There was a particular brand we were discussing when this conversation came about. It's a very well-known brand that we both find in our client's wardrobes and 9/10 end up throwing away! Accessories can really make an outfit. It's a super quick and easy way to add personality and interest and also to look like you've got dressed intentionally. Even when you are wearing a pair of jeans and a white tee, by adding jewellery you can create a great outfit. This week on the podcast I am joined by my favourite jewellery designer Amy Elson, the designer behind Chambers & Beau.

All Chambers & Beau jewellery is handmade in Amy's studio in Devon UK. She started doing personalised jewellery when no-one else really was. Her pieces are unique and make really thoughtful gifts and she is also a master of layering. Layering jewellery is a quick and easy way to add a bit of cool to your outfit.

This week I am joined by very successful and very beautiful 52 year old silver haired curve model Rachel Peru. Rachel recently posted a reel on her Instagram (see reel here) of her wearing a tailored blazer with a bralette underneath. This post got lots and lots of positive comments but it also attracted a lot of negative comments like "tell nanna to take her medication" (from a man) and lots of "you are too old for this, put it away" (from women). The comments were worse on Facebook which is interesting...

Tune in to hear our chat about how this felt for Rachel and why we think this happens. Why don't women support women and why do the media still tell women over 40 not to wear certain things and blend into the background? 😤 Getting older can be the best time in your life in so many ways and feeling confident in your outfits is one of them. Hopefully as we get older we get more into our vibe and know ourselves a lot better, it's a shame the trolls don't feel the same.

Most of my personal styling clients tell me they want to look "pulled together but not too try-hard" - People worry about looking 'try-hard' because they don't want others to think they've spent a lot of time on how they look in case they are deemed to be vain or vacuous. People fear that paying attention to their clothes and image is frivolous and not important.

This could not be further from the truth. Investing in your mage helps you at work. It helps you to influence others, look senior or authoritative, get you more pay and get promotions. Dressing well boosts confidence and is one of the more joyful things in life. So why do people put this on the back burner and not bother looking at their wardrobe and investing in it when it can make such a difference to your life?

🔥 I'm running through why it pays to invest in your image and 7 ways you can get more clarity on your style so you can upgrade your image.🔥

What do you actually need in your wardrobe and how can you look pulled together? It's better to be considered about what you buy and make sure your wardrobe contains hard working pieces that stand the test of time and help you to feel great. We all want an easy answer of what to wear in the morning and there are certain core pieces that can do that. I've come up with 5 things that will instantly elevate your outfits and make you look chic and pulled together. ✨

Pieces I mention:

  1. Smart boots. I got these.from Russell & Bromley, a copy of The Row boots

  2. Leather skinny trousers. These are good quality.

  3. A smart wool coat. I recommend many on the podcast but I've got my eye on this gingham one.

  4. Cashmere jumper. John Lewis and M&S have lots at very reasonable prices.

  5. A chunky gold necklace. A brilliantly easy way to upgrade your outfit. I love these 3 brands:

Martha Calvo

Monica Vinader

Today is such a fascinating episode packed full of ideas to really get you thinking about how you get dressed, why you hang on to clothes you don't need, and how your influences have shaped your identity. It's all about clothes but a lot LOT more this week.

I see every day in my work how people hold themselves back with what they wear and how they act because of limiting beliefs and mindsets. However I am not a mindset expert so I invited mindset coach Teresa Klasener to come and share her thoughts on this important topic.

"Dress Shabbily and they remember the dress, dress impeccably and they notice the woman" Coco Chanel. Sage advice from the doyenne of style. Your clothes speak, they are part of your message and they can be used to your advantage. Are you someone who blends in but wishes you were braver, or someone who stands out unapologetically? Too often women blend in when they shouldn't but sometimes it is appropriate and can be a clever tactic. This week I'm giving my thoughts on this using Carrie Johnson and the new UK PM Liz Truss as examples. One of them blended in cleverly and the other stood out in a power move. Which was right or were both? This episode will get you thinking differently about your wardrobe and the messages it sends.

I am joined this week by fashion lover Hannah Pearn. Like me, Hannah doesn't believe in being invisible as you get older. Quite the opposite in fact, we are both finding that as you get older you know yourself better, care less about what others think and feel more confident exploring style. We both agree that fashion is self care ad brings a lot of joy to life! As well as loving clothes, Hannah is also an acupuncturist specialising in fertility and she is sharing her entrepreneurial story from when she trained 10 years ago to enjoying huge success in her business right through lockdown. Yes, lockdown and the pandemic has quite a few business success stories and it's nice to know it wasn't all doo and gloom. Acupuncture can benefit women's health from fertility through to menopause - it's fascinating stuff! I'm joined today by the wonderful Finula Crewe, founder of New Day Originals, an independent label who create beautiful wearable 'boho glam' dresses that are also completely sustainable. Fin shares her story from a business collapse at the start of lockdown to refusing to give up and creating New Day Originals out of the rubble. It's been a huge learning curve and Fin has learnt a lot along the way about her own style and the way she wants to dress now. We all evolve and grow all the time and what we wear can really define where we are in life and how we feel.

We also chat about dressing for ourselves and wearing what makes us happy rather than what we 'should' wear or what we think society or men want us to wear. When you get to that point, it's truly freeing.

Today I am giving tips on how to get clear on what really works for you. We are using the power of decluttering and Pinterest to hone-in on your style and start to let old habits die whilst getting rid of clutter and breaking free from style ruts! Change is good yet people cling to tried and tested styles of clothes and end up wearing the same things for years.

Also, there is so much guilt hanging in the wardrobe because people feel that because they have spent money on clothes they shouldn't get rid of them! All this does is mean you have a wardrobe full of clothes you don't really love that are creating clutter which then makes it super hard to find outfits.

This also makes it super hard to shop with intent, to know what wardrobe gaps you actually have and the pieces you do need to create good outfits.

Wouldn't it feel good to have just a few clothes you wear all the time that are perfect for you instead of a mish-mash wardrobe full of random clothes?

Join me as I go through the most common reasons people hang on to clothes they don't need or wear, how we evolve and our wardrobes should too and how to get the clarity start confidently putting together outfits that work for you with far less clothes!

For more in-depth decluttering and Pinterest guidance grab my mini course. You get instant access, lifelong access and life-changing results for just £27!

Dress codes at work have relaxed and as we venture back into the office, what can we expect to see in 2022? It used to be seen as frivolous to wear anything other than a suit at work but that is a distant memory. Clothes should bring you joy, make you feel good about yourself, boost your confidence and help to make life more fun! Why then is it that so many people are too scared to wear things that aren't plain or 'safe' and when they do wear something glamorous, feel like they are being a show off in some way. This is why so many people end up in a style rut, wearing the same safe styles of clothes over and over again when they could be looking and feeling far more fabulous! Life is too short for boring clothes. This episode is all about fashion imposter syndrome and how to break away from that, be brave and enjoy your wardrobe more.

The Style Stories has reached 42,000 downloads 🎉 To celebrate I am re-releasing one of my favourite episodes. I interviewed YouTube Style Star Erin Busbee of Busbee Style who has a hugely popular channel for women over 40.

Erin used to be a personal stylist working 121 with people just as I do, but she then pivoted her business to move it online. A great move considering the current pandemic we find ourselves in! Her YouTube channels covers about every style dilemma you could possibly think of and releases two new videos a week.

We share the top reasons people struggle so much with their wardrobes and what they can do about it.

This week I'm joined by Georgina Chapman, a business coach for women, a 'Plus-size GODDESS empowering other fat & curvy babes to accept & embrace every aspect of themselves so they radically shift their self-perception' I love how Georgina is fully herself and invited her on the podcast to talk style, self-confidence and image. A few years ago if you were 'plus size' the option for shopping was sparse. It was M&S or Evans in the UK and that was about it. Just because you are bigger than what is deemed average by the standard shops, it does not mean you have one kind of style type either! It also doesn't mean you have a 'perfectly' proportioned body - the in and out hourglass shape yet even plus size specialist hops tend to cater for that shape. Thank goodness we are all different or it would be a pretty boring world. Thank goodness there are role models like the music star Lizzo to get inspired by and not feel bad about yourself just because you don't fit a certain mold.  Find Georgina on Linkedin here. I hope you enjoy this honest chat. Here are some of the influencers that inspire Georgina. @curvy_roamer @sharon_rooney @lizzobeeating @jessontheplussize @_queenmojo

Meet the lovely Rachel Peru, one of the most in-demand curve models in the UK, champion of mid-life women and a woman on a mission to show ignored unrepresented women in the media.

We talk about Rachel's journey to self-acceptance. How having her photo taken in lingerie is so powerful for other women and how going grey kicked-off her hugely successful modelling career at 46.

This podcast has always been about empowering women in their 40's and beyond to live a fulfilling life in midlife. To wear a bikini or a short skirt if you want to. Not to feel like you're invisible but to embrace the confidence that age can bring if you let it...

We also discuss how you should wear exactly what you want in your 40's, how British culture tries to put older women in boxes, mature women stereotypes and much more. This is one of the most inspiring interviews yet!

Is there a more personal thing than jewellry? It's such a great way to totally change an outfit and show people your personality and taste. I discuss this and much more with Jewellry designer Nancy Zucarelli, founder and designer at From Chloe With Love. Nancy lives in Canada and joined me via zoom to delve into what makes us tick when choosing what to wear and how lots of women hold themselves back and don't invest in themselves. We covered much more than jewelry and I love how, when a podcast is unscripted like mine, natural chat comes through and the human side of getting dressed and accessorizing. Personal style is just that - personal. How we dress should reflect our personality, our goals and make us feel good about ourselves. Wouldn't it be great to know exactly what suits you and why so you can make confident clothing choices? Always feeling confident in your outfit and easily finding the right clothes for you? Well, it's not that easy. Until you KNOW what suits you and why, it will always be a struggle. Your style is confused by outside influences, where you grew up, what music you listened to, what expectations are around you. It's no wonder you find it so hard to work out what YOU really love. This week's episode was inspired by going to a party last weekend where everyone was dressed the same. I ask you to step back and look at your surroundings. How influenced are you?

"I have nothing to wear" is the cry of many yet they have a wardrobe stuffed full of clothes. Are you someone who feels like you have a load of clothes but still no outfits? The biggest reason for that is you probably don't have the right basics.

Basics are the gel that hold a wardrobe together. They are the key items that people overlook because they aren't as exciting to buy. This issue is something I see time and time again when I do wardrobe edits for my clients so I know it is a common problem.

I've compiled my list of summer basic essentials. These are the items I highly recommend you have in your wardrobe to make it flow, to give you outfits easily that are stylish but low-key too and make the beautiful items in your wardrobe pop.

Well, not ALL, your style is a lot to do with where you grew up, who influenced you, what messages you absorbed on your style journey, what the media tells us. It is a mosaic of different messages and experiences that make up who you are and how you dress.

You may not think your mindset is important when it comes to getting dressed but oh boy, it can really hold you back if you have limiting beliefs about yourself.

This week I delve into these theories with Teresa Klasener, a Mindset expert and coach. Teresa runs style workshops with me online and in real life and has fascinating insights into how we tick as humans and how it affects how we get dressed and perceive ourselves.

Teresa runs a resilience programme that kicks off again on April 19th.

This week I was joined by social Psychologist Susie Ballentyne to discuss the power of your identity and how it is related to your style.  I once had a job in an environment that was so utterly wrong for me in every sense I shriveled up inside and lost almost all my confidence, I was a shell of myself. I was young and unaware of where I should be in life or what I was truly good at. I was yet to embrace my uniqueness.  A few years into the future I had the courage to leave financial security and set-up as an entrepreneur with my own business - I was finally on the right path and I began to flourish. 🌸 Knowing yourself - or 'Self Identity' is extremely powerful. Having a strong sense of self, an understanding of your likes and dislikes and where you want to be are essential to truly flourish in life.  What does this have to do with style? Well, until you know your inherent style you will always be flitting around unsure and not fully confident in what you wear. What you wear is part of your identity, it is instant communication of who you are, your values, your goals. When you are confident that shines out and others pick up on it. It's called The Halo Effect.  We discuss this, bias, identity and why it's SO important in this episode.  Find Susie here: https://www.susieballentyne.com/

The clothes we wear are part of our identity. They are influenced by where we grew-up, who our friends and influences were and what music we listen to.  But what if you've never really been sure of your identity because you've never known who your 'self' is or where you belong? Buying clothes is seen by some as materialistic and frivolous and if you've always felt that way, can you change and start to embrace fashion, identity and looking nice?  These are some of the fascinating questions covered in this episode with my guest Sara-Louise Ackrill, a Social Impact Entrepreneur and Therapist. Sara was diagnosed with Autism at the quite late age of 38. It was then though that everything began to fall into place and she began a journey of exploring her own style and identity. Giving herself permission at last to embrace fashion and explore herself through her style. If you are on the spectrum or physically disabled then there is a lot of valuable info in this episode. Sara-Louise is now involved in creating specialist clothing for autistic people and she talks about the inclusive fashion movement that is now picking up a pace.

Are you someone who has a wardrobe full of clothes but still no good outfits? Do you hang on to things for years and tell yourself they will fit you again one day, or they might come back into fashion?  A cluttered wardrobe full of clothes makes getting dressed much harder. It's harder to pull outfits together, harder to know what's missing in the wardrobe and creates confusion in the mind. While we are all still stuck at home, it is a perfect time to declutter the wardrobe and the benefits are huge. In this episode I share the process I use when working with my clients. It's essential to leave your emotions at the door and be brave and brutal. Get rid of anything dated, that doesn't fit, that doesn't serve who you are NOW. We evolve all the time and wearing clothes that from our past life that make you feel too practical, dull or frumpy is going to drag you down. There are some great lessons to learn when going through this decluttering process to make sure once your wardrobe is decluttered it doesn't end up back there!  By following my three pillars of style process, you will end up with a streamlined and stylish wardrobe that fils you with confidence.

Harvard Business School has recognized 'Fashion Imposter Syndrome' which is when you do not feel worthy of luxury items. You'd perhaps buy a designer bag then feel self-conscious walking around with it. This explains why people 'save things for best' i.e. have some lovely things in their wardrobe but don't wear them because they feel like a show-off or again, self-conscious, choosing instead to wear the same practical and plain clothes day in and day out.  This is all so relatable and something most of us do daily.  My guest this week to discuss this topic is mindset coach and coach at TechPixies, Teresa Klasener. Before lockdown we ran some workshops together exploring how our insecurities and mindsets stop us from wearing clothes that could make us feel amazing and break out of dull style ruts. Being bolder and braver and getting absolute clarity on what suits US and our natural inherent personal style has a hugely positive impact on self esteem.  You can find Teresa at @youcomingalive www.human-human.co.uk PLEASE SUBSCRIBE AND LEAVE A REVIEW IF YOU ENJOY THIS.

I was contacted by listener Veronica Argus all the way in Australia to ask how she can hang on to her sense of style as she gets older. Just because we are in our 340's 50,s, 60's and beyond, it does not mean all of us want to wear elasticated pants and a block colour and become a generic older person. That is why Veronica's email really caught my eye - if anything, I believe we can settle more firmly into our personal style as we get older and express ourselves more freely. In this episode I cover the three pillars of style to follow to make sure you are clear on what suits you and really feel like yourself.  If you'd like to join me for more 1:1 advice about your personal style then come over and join my live digital style course. Vintage expert, writer and speaker Kate Bavis joins me this week on the podcast to talk about her passion for all things vintage. We discuss how different eras of vintage suit different body shapes as the cuts change over time. Think of straight-cut flapper dresses, they would be better suited to a straight up and down body shape but a 50's cut dress suits curves and boobs. I love the fact that Kate wears what she loves rather than bends to rules of what we 'should' wear past the age of 40. That really is the essence of this podcast, it's for rebellious women 40 and beyond who refuse to be told what to wear and that they should fade into the background.  With everything going on in the world right now it's a great time to enjoy some escapism in fashion. Fashion is a benchmark for what is going on in the world at the time, vinatge is a window into that particular era and is endlessly interesting and let's not forget, unique and sustainable too! Kate Beavis is also a vintage fashion expert and you can follow her on instagram here where she has over 52,000 followers: https://www.instagram.com/magpiewedding/?hl=en Or follow Kate here where you can see the lady herself showcasing her amazing collection of vinatge dresses and her home, furnished in mid-century second-hand vintage furniture of course! https://www.instagram.com/ihavethisthingwithvintage/?hl=en

This is a whole new ball game Ladies. Until very recently there was no way in hell the taboo subject of menopause would have been discussed or recognised in the workplace! oh no, it was ignored and brushed under the carpet. In this second episode in my mini-series on menopause I am chatting with menopause trainer Julie Dennis all about raising awareness and providing support for women going through this in the workplace. Businesses need to retain talent and look after the well being of their staff and this is something that has been totally ignored. Julie provides webinars, 1:1 training and group training sessions within companies to help them support their employees during this challenging time. Sleeplessness, memory loss and sudden hot flashes are all very real and it's about time this subject was out in the open!

If this episode helps you in any way please leave a review to explain how. I'd love to hear your comments.

If you are someone who has previously worn a suit to work and now your workplace has switched to smart/casual, this is the episode for you. Dress codes have been gradually getting more and more relaxed at work for years. For some people this is a massive headache because they don't have the security of throwing on a suit. Now we need to match smart separates and put outfits together. It's still important to look professional and pulled-together, especially if you are senior so how do you do it? I'm giving some quick-fired tips on the actual items I suggest you get so your wardrobe/closet flows. A small list of things you can mix and match. One main thing to add is a 'presentation dress' a dress you can just throw on without thought when you've got a major work event to deal with.

We are getting married later and later these days and of course, some of us move on to second marriages later in life.  But what do you wear? You don't want to look like a woodland nymph or a princess bride but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look and feel spectacular on your Big Day no matter what age you are. Don't make the mistake of thinking once you are past a certain age you should dial things down and disappear - the opposite is true - with age comes understanding of yourself and can be an excellent time to shine, sometimes for the first time.  In this week's episode get stying tips and tricks on what to wear if you are an older bride. Lisa is joined by UK Milliner Harriet Head of byharriet.co.uk. For years you've been wearing a suit to work and suddenly, your employer changes the dress code to 'business formal', 'business casual' or 'smart casual'. It's a minefield - suddenly you've gone from the security of being able to chuck on a suit every day (so easy) to having to look polished and professional in a much more casual way.  This relaxed way of dressing at work started in silicon valley dot.com boom that started back in the 80's. Relaxed dress codes are seen by many as allure and are a perk of the job. Being restricted in a suit in navy, grey or black isn't required anymore and even more corporate organisations like Goldman Sachs are have turned their backs on formal work attire. Now we're coming out of months of working from home and become even more used to dressing down this is going to continue. The thing to remember is just because our workwear has become more informal, it doesn't mean there's no need to look professional at work. But how do you get it right? Sportwear is out, as are jeans and flipflops. I run through the items you can get to make sure you always have the right thing to wear in a formal workplace that now has a relaxed dress code.
