Society as a whole is in the midst of a transition. Some of us are returning to our normal everyday lives, some of us aren’t. Some of us have jobs to return to, some of us don’t. Some of us want things to go back to normal, some of us are longing to hold onto this time just a little longer. But one thing is for sure- life will never go back to exactly how it was before. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be goodness, we’ll just need to give things new life. So that’s what we’re talking about today- how to give new life to old things. Whether it’s refreshing your house, your wardrobe, or your mindset, we’re sharing some ways to revitalize areas of your life with little to no cost. If you feel like your life is in need of a little refresh but you’re struggling with how to make it happen, listen in.

Cooking is a practice that is integral to our everyday lives, but something we all have different relationships with. For some it’s a joy and for others it’s a pain. This week we’re sharing the ways we each relate to cooking, both now and in the past, as well as our pain points, tips and tricks, and the types of meals we rotate through. If you’ve ever asked your girlfriends “what are you cooking for dinner tonight?”, this episode is for you.

That is, until batch cooking enters the picture. This week we’re joined by the batch cooking expert herself, Marcy Leaf. Here at The Kitschy Kountdown, we pride ourselves in our ability to discuss both the thoughtful and the trivial aspects of life. Millennials take a lot of heat. People blame us for all of life’s problems. Someone cut you off in traffic? It was probably a millennial texting and driving. You can’t find a job? We’re not all bad and in this week’s episode, we’re taking a deep dive into the industries our generation is supposedly killing and putting it to the test in our own lives. Our goal is to save you time, tears, and maybe some money by sharing some of the most important lessons we’ve learned over the past few years.
This week, we’re acting as investigative reporters doing the really hard and important work of trying new beauty hacks so that we can report back to you with what works, and what doesn’t. Just think of us as Andie Anderson a la “How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days”, calling BS on those solutions that claim to work wonders but left us less than impressed, but also raving about the tips we tried and were proven true.
We all have opinions. Some of them are widely agreed upon, but others are hotly contested. While we pride ourselves on our general good taste (hello, Kitsch Picks comin’ in hot every week), even we aren’t above reproach. This week we’re coming clean with all of the unpopular opinions we hold dear. We fully expect some of you to be yelling at your speakers while we talk, and we can handle it. But just know, even though we may not be on the Harry Potter bandwagon with the rest of the world, there are some of you out there who still use the phrase “all the things”, so we’re even.
They say practice makes perfect, but why does it seem that grocery shopping and meal planning never seem to get any easier, no matter how many times you do it? We asked and you showed up big time! This week we’re sharing the products people swear by. You know, those products you can’t stop raving about. Or those gadgets you just have to tell your girlfriends about. This episode is a roundup of everything we all love that we think everyone else needs to know about ASAP. Think of it as a whole episode worth of Kitsch Picks. You won’t be disappointed.

It's the age old problem- you feel like you're constantly buying new clothes but you look in your closet and there's nothing to wear. Either way, we know there will be lots of thoughts and opinions on our thoughts and opinions, so we're ready.
Chasing your dreams is such a catchy phrase right now. This week we're thrilled to share some insight into how this is working for someone in real life. We're joined by Jeanette Tapley, host of the "It's Time For Coffee" podcast and she's sharing her best tips and tricks for how to start where you are with what you have. If you've been looking for a kick in the pants to stop lallygagging and start working, this episode is for you!

Find us on Instagram or Facebook and let us know the weirdest thing you keep in your purse.
This week we're practicing what we preach. We're living out the part of our mission statement that reads "we aim to help [women] feel understood and united, to feel part of a community that sheds the weight of isolation and loneliness" as we discuss the top ten things we wished people knew about anxiety and depression. The news has been laden recently with stories of people who seemingly "had it all together" but took their own lives all the same. While we can't attempt to know everyone's stories, what we can do is share our own in an attempt to create space for more people to share theirs.
June is the month of graduations, which always makes us nostalgic. It feels like just yesterday we were a couple of 18 year olds walking across that stage in our caps and gowns, waiting for all the adventure life had in store for us beyond Keller, TX. Now, almost 10 years later, we've learned a thing or two that we wish we could go back in time and tell ourselves. From the thoughtful to the trivial, this week we're taking a trip down memory lane as we visit all the things we wish we could tell our teenage selves.
It’s that time of year again, the time where we gear up for the season ahead by making our bucket lists. Tune in this week as we share what books we’re excited to read, work out plans we want to implement, and big life changes we expect to make over the course of the next three months. This week’s episode is part two of our adulting 101 series- adulting 201 if you will. We’re continuing to share all of the ways we’re winning at being adults and sharing all the ways our listeners our living their best grown up lives, as well.
Nothing is scarier than the moment someone is looking for the nearest adult and in the midst of looking for your mom, you realize YOU are the grown up. This week's episode is an homage to all the things we do on a daily basis that make us feel like dignified adults in the hopes of bolstering our self confidence the next time we do something not-so-adultish. We've gathered examples from our own lives, as well as some that you shared so we can come together and all feel like A+ grown ups.
We don’t know about you, but we spent our preteen days cutting pictures out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine and pasting pages together to make up dream houses. This week’s episode is an homage to those times as we’re entering into the home buying, and decorating, season. We won’t be raving about shabby chic like we did when we were 12, but we will be discussing our favorite modern day home decor trends and how we (and you) can practically implement them at home.
We're super curious by nature (which is actually just a nice way to say we're super nosy). Regardless of how you phrase it, we just really enjoy hearing how other women spend their time. We think there's value in learning how other people spend their time to help us evaluate how we spend our own in an attempt to be a little more deliberate with the 24 hours we're given each day. That's why this week's episode is dedicated to hashing out our own daily routines. From the practices we've worked hard to cultivate to the habits we have that we'd like to kick, we're sorting through it all. Our hope is that by listening you won't just hear us talk about ourselves, but use it as a tool to think about your own daily routines.
The weather is finally starting to acknowledge that is in fact spring. That means we're starting to veer away from the chilis and the soups and starting to embrace the salads and the tapas. Whether you're looking for a crowd pleasing appetizer, the perfect spring salad, or the best way to use up that extra box of thin mints left in your freezer, this episode will leave you HUNGRY by the end. So listen up and then head to the grocery store because we'll leave you well fed for the rest of the week.
Bill Withers said it best when he urged us to 'lean on me, when you're not strong, and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on.' Though not a girlfriend, we can relate to his sentiment of being a good friend in times of need. This week we're diving into all the ways you can help a sister out in the hard times by sharing the most helpful ways people have shown up in our own lives and the way we try to do so ourselves.

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a merlot and cabernet? Well, friend, you're in good company because most people feel self-conscious about their lack of wine knowledge, but they're too embarrassed to ask these seemingly simple questions. This week, we're joined by our resident wine expert who just so happens to be married to KA, and he's answering all your wine questions. Tune in and soak up all the information you can, and then go and impress your friends at your next party.

We're sharing our second installment of all the things we're loving this spring in an effort to usher in this new season and maybe give mother nature a wake up call that it IS indeed spring. You'll have to excuse the brevity of this episode, for reasons KB explains at the beginning of the show and you're bound to understand upon listening. Despite the length, we still believe this episode is jam packed with ideas to get you in the mood for spring.

Do you ever just look at fashion bloggers on Instagram or stare at a really trendy girl in a coffee shop and think “how did you learn to dress so cute?” Yeah, us too. We may not be fashion bloggers, but we have learned a thing or two about fashion and shopping since the bleak days of layering Old Navy tank tops with our flared jeans and calling that “style.” This week we’re sharing our top tips for finding clothes that work for you, where to invest and where to skimp, and maybe sharing a few fashion mishaps along the way.

We’re covering everything from how to efficiently purge your closet to where to even begin on your spring cleaning checklist. So grab a vacuum, put in your earbuds, and get to listening/cleaning.

This week we're discussing all the small ways you can pursue your significant other throughout the year so you don't experience that "oh shoot" moment when you forgot to get him a card the night before February 14th.

HOWEVER, we have compiled a list of ways to maximize your minutes in order to relieve some of the stress of day to day life. In this episode, we discuss what life is really like during these early adult years. We run the gamut from what we enjoy about this time of life, what we won’t be sad to leave behind as we age, and what makes these years unique.
You’re up to date on a variety of trends (for the most part) and can relate to both college girls and middle aged women.
You can listen to whatever dadgum music you want and ain’t no one gonna stop you.
You still have acne (and older adults with no filter love to point it out).
Your own style emerges. Rock those carpet skirts, girrrrl.
You feel like you’re so far away from your goals, and it will take forever to achieve them. (When will I be able to buy all my clothes from Anthro, afford gifts for my friends that gift guides seem to think are affordable, and fund my blonde hair again?)
You’re making super important decisions and should probably be a little nervous. But also, grab life by the horns or whatever, and live on!
You’re starting to live life on your own terms and come into your own person; you become more confident in who you are.
Drivers license renewals? Name changes? Responsible things? Need we say more?
You begin to not be on the same track as your friends (i.e. careers, higher education, marriage, babies, moves, etc.)
Feeding those in your house good, nourishing food can be hard, but buying big cuts of meat can help. So can Rachel Hollis’ cookbook: Upscale Downhome.
