Lindsay lives in the North Houston area in a little suburb called The Woodlands, Texas with her husband of three years and their Vizsla Elmer. She is the creator of The FAST Track To Fit which is a lifestyle method that combines intermittent fasting and carb cycling in a holistic and comprehensive way. Lindsay's background is in nursing which is why she is so passionate about the health and wellness industry. She has seen and been a part of the entire spectrum of life from L&D to home health and hospice, which is where she ended her corporate career. Lindsay is on a mission to empower women to ditch the quick fix mindset and create a sustainable lifestyle! Lindsay explains that carb cycling is exactly what it sounds like, it is an intentional intake of carbs.  It is simple to learn to count macronutrients which are carbs, protein, and fat. Lindsay gives an idea of what a low carb and high carb day looks like, and also how she exercises on those days. One of the  appealing things about carb cycling is that there is no one and only way, it is very versatile and can work with different body types and schedules. My Fitness Pal is a great app to use to count your macros. Lindsay recommends having a coach that can help you learn the process and also hold you accountable. One thing that Lindsay cannot live without right now is her sherpa sweatshirt. Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis is what Lindsay is currently reading. Like most of us ladies, Lindsay loves chocolate and loves the Rebel Protein drinks.   Connect with Lindsay here: Instagram @lindsayhuelse; @fasttracktofit https://www.lindsayrenefitness.com   Connect with us? via social media: Facebook: www.facebook.com/anaturalshift Follow Julie-->www.instagram.com/julie_ann_davey/ Follow Kari--> www.instagram.com/karicoody/   On the web: www.anaturalshift.com   Download our FREE ebooks: Top 3 Health Habits Upgrade your Cart - chip edition   Check out our newest ebook! Ginger experienced the power of healing through God's creation after two serious health issues and loves to declare God's healing whenever opportunity presents itself! Ginger started her health journey after her sons were diagnosed with asthma and she didn’t feel comfortable with the medications that were being prescribed. After a lot of prayer and research, Ginger began to treat her children nutritionally. The most pivotal upgrade that Ginger has taken was stepping out of the box and not automatically doing what the medical system suggested but seeking God in how she nutritionally treated her children. The one decision that brought her where she is today is deciding that her healthcare is up to God! Ginger has a store that offers locally and organically grown food. Ginger feels like she is able to help those that come into her store by sharing her knowledge and her story. Some upgrades that Ginger takes every day include oil pulling, prayer time, sipping on lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of ACV in hot water while doing her quiet time. After that she works out, takes a shower, has a smoothie that includes her Nourished in 5 product, and then begins her day. Ginger wishes that people knew that God is our ultimate healer. There is power in Jesus and he wants to heal you. Invite him into your lives and He will guide you!   Ginger is currently reading a book by Michael Jacobson called The Word On Health. Join Julie and Kari as they share tips on why self-care is so important! To Julie, putting herself first and making sure that she is getting the things that she needs is crucial. Taking little steps every day, like working out, having a quiet time, and using essential oils are all rituals in her self care routine. Julie encourages women by reminding them that we all have the same amount of time, it's all about making self-care a priority because you are your greatest investment! For Kari, her self care journey started after she had her daughter. Kari realized that she needed to make time for herself in order to be the best mom and wife she could be. Kari wants women to know that when a woman says she doesn't have time, she is saying that she isn't worth it. Changing self-talk from negative words into positive words of affirmations is so important! Some self-care tips that Julie and Kari share in the episode:   Junk in =  junk out (you are what you eat) Eat whole foods that fuel your body! Add in the things that make you feel good like water and vibrant foods. Morning Routines- getting up early before the rest of the house to have some quiet time. Pray, read  a devotion, get in a good workout, write in a gratitude journal and say positive affirmations to yourself throughout your day. The life long vitality pack offered by doTERRA is foundational to health and self-care. It gives your body the nutrients it needs and craves. Before the kids get up, get the diffusers going and maybe have some music going to help set the tone for the day. Some of the oils that we love to use throughout our day are - morning- Peace, Balance, the kids blend Calmer, evening-  serenity, cedarwood. And lastly, getting good rest is so vital to our self-care so that we can have the energy and vibrancy we need! Tiffany Carter takes the mystery out of making BIG money, while doing something you love. She uses a magnetic combination of her clear-cut communication style that she developed as a TV news journalist, her business savvy and proven strategies as a multi-millionaire entrepreneur, and her intuitive ability to connect with women on a deeper level, to uncover what’s blocking you from achieving your dream life. She’s a passionate female empowerment speaker and marketing sales specialist, responsible for more than a hundred million dollars in sales transactions. Tiffany's zones of genius are helping women become financially free, through education, empowerment, and proven straightforward strategies. This multi-millionaire entrepreneur went from a life of self-destruction to success, despite the odds being entirely against her. Tiffany’s mission runs deeper than helping women create wealth; her bigger purpose is to help women find their worth. Low self-worth = Low net-worth High self-worth = High net-worth The name ProjectME came to Tiffany while recovering from spine surgery ten years ago (first time she took time for herself!). Tiffany spent years masking deeply buried pain by compulsively exercising (hence the spine surgery), and working to the point of emotional, spiritual, and physical bankruptcy. Four years ago, a broken Tiffany, finally surrendered to the God of her understanding, and begged the Universe for help. She was finally ready to face the buried demons of her past. For the first time, she felt light, free, with a renewed sense of purpose. She knew ProjectME was the perfect platform to serve and support women in business. Tiffany wants women to remember the Most Exceptional project in your life, is YOU! Putting yourself and your needs first isn’t selfish; it's a necessary act of self-care and empowerment. ProjectME is a program to create your Most Exceptional life, by putting the focus back on you. ProjectME is designed to help you manifest the wealth, love, career, self-worth, travel, relationships, and life you desire and deserve. Tiffany is the host of the educationally edgy podcast, ProjectME with Tiffany Carter, a passionate advocate for abused women and children, and a proud Mom of two rescue dogs, Molly and Loke.   Tiffany Carter started a career as a newscaster and realized that she wanted to do something  bigger! Tiffany Shares how she sat on an idea for a business for almost 10 years before she took the leap and started her business. In order to have a mind shift when it comes to money, here are some questions that she encourages you to ask yourself, write down the answers and find the connections. 1) What things come to mind when you think about money, bills and your childhood? 2) What things come to mind when you think about money and your current situation as far as work, spouse, or boss? 3) What things come to mind when you see people around you going on extravagant trips or when you have to pay bills?   Tiffany shares how she lost money by not having a healthy money mindset. She encourages listeners to work through the money mindset just like you would stretch before and after a workout at the gym. The stretch is just as important as the workout, and the money mindset is just as important as the hard work you put into making money. For those that are unhappy or unsatisfied in their jobs, Tiffany encourages you to start with a side hustle while you transition to an entrepreneurial job, that way you can have a steady income while you build up your business. If you don't know what you want to do, start listening to podcasts, start dreaming, start writing and figure out what fulfills you. Tiffany's biggest life upgrades are the little daily habits such as vision boarding or visualizing your goals and also planning. Tiffany encourages you to use a paper goal centered planner. There is power when we write things down! Some non-negotiables and self care practices that Tiffany does are every morning are asking herself what would feel good to do that day as far as yoga, spin class or getting up and having tea or coffee before everyone gets up. Also remember to always put yourself first! To get you started on your journey to leading your Most Exceptional life, Tiffany created a free ProjectME Pocket Guide: 5 Steps to Creating Financial Freedom, available on her website at www.projectmewithtiffany.com For great business and life information and inspiration, follow Tiffany on social at: Instagram: @projectme_with_tiffany Facebook: @projectme_with_tiffany Podcast (iTunes & Spotify) : ProjectME with Tiffany Carter Connect with us? via social media: Facebook: www.facebook.com/anaturalshift Follow Julie-->www.instagram.com/julie_ann_davey/ Follow Kari--> www.instagram.com/karicoody/   On the web: www.anaturalshift.com   Download our FREE ebooks: Top 3 Health Habits Upgrade your Cart - chip edition Check out our  new e book! Humans like rituals, which is why New Year’s resolutions are so popular. The clean slate of a calendar flip helps people reflect on changes they’d like to make in their lives.

Weight loss is a very popular resolution. Failure stems from drastic changes and fad diets. Making small changes and having realistic goals supports success. Having the sensory components of textures and flavors you enjoy make it easier to stick to changes.

Getting fit is another common resolution. Many people hit the gym too hard and heavy at the top of the new year, being too sore and rundown to return. Numbers on the scale won’t change unless you also make dietary shifts. Activity outside of the gym can still produce health results.

People also want to get organized to reduce stress. Implement a strategy to help you manage daily tasks through a to-do list or app.

Listen as Dr. Crystal Gossard joins Dr. Mike Smith to share how to find success with your resolutions.

For over a decade, Alex has been helping women build healthy bodies and lifestyles by teaching them how to incorporate fitness into their lives and not structuring their lives around fitness. She is a mother to two amazing boys, a wife to her high school sweetheart and an advocate for living your best life without restrictions, but simply in balance. Alex has been able to transform her body along with helping hundreds of other women both physically and mentally. She went from a size 14 to competing in a bikini competition on the MGM stage in Las Vegas! Placing top 10 out of hundreds of women! Alex lost 65 pounds in the process and  has kept it off for a decade.Alex teaches women how to start transforming their lives by taking back control of their bodies. By learning that it’s okay to eat cookies and pizza :)  It’s simply about learning to balance your food intake for the day. Also, building a workout routine that fits into your schedule. Her mission is to stop the yo-yo affect and the idea of 'quick fixes' for weight loss. She is passionate about educating women on macro nutrition, training with intensity vs. duration and in the process help them rebuild their confidence.   After having kids and becoming a stay at home mom, Alex began to overeat and gained weight.  She was in a negative mind set and she knew she needed to make some changes. Alex decided to start working out and making small daily changes. She was forced to face her truths and be honest with herself in order to move forward and make the necessary changes. Alex began documenting her transformation online and sharing her progress. After seeing the changes in Alex, followers began asking her to share tips.  Soon after, she began coaching other women. Alex wants to encourage women to stop babying themselves and to just get started. If you are beginning a new workout, go all in and don't automatically go for the modifications. Push yourself a little! Alex teaches that balance is more important than restrictions and that diets are not important but a lifestyle change is what will ultimately get the results you desire. 'Taking the upgrade' to Alex means embracing the next version of herself and moving forward. Daily non-negotiables for Alex are starting her day with a good meal and journaling. Alex encourages others to read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, but currently she is reading Work Party by Jaclyn Johnson, and Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis. Something that Alex can’t live without is collagen infused coffee and shoes. One thing that people don't know is that Alex still struggles with her confidence. Alex loves to snack on Skinny Popcorn and sprinkles it with Kettle Seasons.  She also loves One bars and protein bars that she makes.     Connect with Alex: www.grindbabe.com Instagram: @Grindbabe Email: Grindbabe@gmail.com    Connect with us? via social media: Facebook: www.facebook.com/anaturalshift Instagram: www.instagram.com/anaturalshift/ Follow Julie-->www.instagram.com/julie_ann_davey/ Follow Kari--> www.instagram.com/karicoody/   On the web: www.anaturalshift.com   Download our FREE ebooks: Top 3 Health Habits Upgrade your Cart - chip edition Check out our Newest ebook: Upgrade your Lunchbox

Machine learning and artificial intelligence may be the future of medicine.

Many psychiatric disorders have complex biomarkers that direct treatment. Some of these are comorbid, like anxiety plus depression or ADHD plus anxiety. It can be challenging to differentiate between the disorders due to overlapping systems.

You have trouble with bread and pasta. Do you have celiac disease or a food sensitivity?

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten consumption. Gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat, barley and rye. It is also used to bind processed foods together. Genetic tests can show celiac disease, and many members within a family can have celiac. About one percent of the population has celiac disease, and the vast majority don’t know they have it. People can struggle with symptoms for six to ten years before being diagnosed.

Non-celiac gluten sensitivity applies to folks who feel better when they avoid gluten. They do not have celiac disease.

Celiac Disease Symptoms

Bloating, gas or abdominal pain

Diarrhea

Constipation

General fatigue

Itchy skin

Tooth discoloration

Joint pain

Irritability

Weight loss

Delayed growth in children

Fractures and thin bones

Migraine headaches

Infertility or miscarriages

Association with other autoimmune diseases

Testing for celiac disease is inexpensive and easy. Request a test from your doctor as soon as you suspect. Better to be cautious than have side effects that cannot be undone.

Listen as Dr. Marie Robert joins Dr. Mike Smith to discuss celiac disease and the importance of testing.

It’s best to get your annual exam to track your body’s changes. Some diseases don’t have obvious symptoms to tip you off to their development.

Five Potentially Life-Threatening Diseases

High Blood Pressure: American Heart Association classifies 130/80 as high blood pressure. The estimate is that 50 percent of Americans have high blood pressure. Stress reduction and meditation have a positive effect on blood pressure.

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV): It is considered the most common sexually-transmitted infection. Over 70% of people are expected to come into contact with the virus. Cervical cancer and some head and neck cancers are attributed to this virus. Having a healthy immune system is beneficial in improving your odds against contracting and developing an HPV-related complication.

Pancreatic Cancer: Smokers, drinkers and diabetic individuals have more risk for pancreatic cancer. Sweetened beverages statistically increase your risk. There is no good screening test, and symptoms don’t present until it’s too late.

Diabetes: One-fourth of the population over age 65 has diabetes, with type 2 dominating that percentage. Diet and exercise play a large role in the development of diabetes. Vitamin D levels can influence your susceptibility to diabetes. Cut out processed foods.

Sleep Apnea: This occurs in both men and women. Heavy evening meals, sleep medications, excessive alcohol consumption and weight increase risk for sleep apnea. A sleep study is used to diagnose this condition. Sleep apnea ups your chances of developing other chronic diseases.

Listen as Dr. Christine Horner joins Dr. Mike Smith to share how diet, exercise and lifestyle play a role in all of these diseases.

For more information on Dr. Horner, visit www.drchristinehorner.com.

Carrie is a Mindset Coach who helps driven and heart centered souls move through their fears and live a life that they are proud of. She also owns a Gluten Free Travel Business called "For Gluten Sake". Carrie is obsessed with community, travel, sweating it out daily, her morning coffee and stepping into a regular mindset practice.   Carrie shares why mindset is so important, how you choose to respond to negative things around you is vital, taking moments to talk calmly to yourself when you make poor choices and not sit in a negative space, and so much more! By focusing on her vocabulary and thoughts, Carrie made a mind shift and was able to eliminate negative self-talk. Developing a daily mindset practice, which includes waking up and saying a morning mantra, and writing in her gratitude journal, is a simple way that Carrie sets the tone for the day. For Carrie, "taking the upgrade" means always striving for better, but still knowing that she is good enough where she is!   Favorite book right now: A Tribe Called Bliss by Lori Harder Journal:  Carrie's 5 day FREE journal Connect with Carrie:    Instagram:@forglutensake   Facebook: Forglutensake   Website: forglutensake.com   Connect with us? via social media: Facebook: www.facebook.com/anaturalshift Instagram: www.instagram.com/anaturalshift/ Follow Julie-->www.instagram.com/julie_ann_davey/ Follow Kari--> www.instagram.com/karicoody/   On the web: www.anaturalshift.com   Download our FREE ebooks: Top 3 Health Habits Upgrade your Cart - chip edition
