Good morning...
This mornings Sunday service is the challenge for us, as parents, leaders, & the people of God to grow from 'milk' to 'solid food' --- may we heed this charge this morning for the glory of God.

Interspersed among the images of Jesus' Better-ness we have these challenges, exhortations, instructions & warnings.
One such example is to be on guard against the perils of a hardened heart. What causes the heart to harden? How can it be dealt with? What softens such hardness to the things of God?
Prayerfully there might be a small encouragement for you as you listen to the Word from Hebrews 3 and, prayerfully, find some encouragement in the Lord.

Continuing with our journey through Hebrews, we look at several ways Jesus expresses His 'Better-ness' than the traditions, rituals, & activities the Old Covenant presented.
In the revelation of such truth, I pray we might be challenged to embrace the beauty of Jesus who is far superior to what this world offers.

After being challenged by Brad last week to "take Jesus' teaching seriously" we go back to the book of Hebrews and look at WHY we have too.
Jesus is already better than the prophets; we read how Jesus is better than the angels. Today we examine how Jesus is better than Moses.
Moses, a faithful servant, the leader of Israel from slavery, the receiver of the Law of God. And as great as this man was, Jesus is far BETTER in every way.

When things are coming to an end, whether a summer holiday where you have created new friendships; moving to another state or country where you leave behind family & friends you’ve known for decades; or sitting in the presence of a loved one who is approaching the end of this earthly life… I have noticed the attentiveness, the appreciation, and the valuing of that specific time with them… moments to cherish, and embrace --- because you KNOW that you may never see them again.
We have entered into the final week of Jesus’ ministry… a ministry where, for three years He has taught, shared, invested into, and walked alongside these 12 Disciples and now, retreated into an upper room He disciples them by example, as well as by word… let's look at this example together.

We’ve been plodding along through John’s gospel for the purpose of seeing Jesus presented in the fullness of His beauty, mercy, uncompromising holiness & steadfast faithfulness to His Fathers will.
This last week of Jesus’ ministry begins with His anointing at Bethany (vs.1-11) while the religious leaders conspire for His death AND the death of Lazarus.
This is followed by the triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey’s colt (vs.12-19). “HOSANNA” they cry as the people gather laying palm upon the ground as Jesus enters in a manner fulfilling scripture (v.15 c.f. Zec 9:9).
And it is in this third section of this chapter we look at Jesus’ beauty.

It is this passage that looks at how Jesus brings life when all that can be seen is death.
In Jn 10 we have the familiar passage of Jesus being our Good Shepherd.
In this message we examine what that means and what it looks like for us in the 21st Century.
We get to celebrate 25yrs of God's faithfulness to Grace Christian Church... thus, we hear an interview by Ps. Ben, the founding pastor and Elder Jonathan Hui.

We look at the familiar dialogue between the woman caught in adultery and the Lord Jesus.
His compassion, His mercy, His wisdom and His grace all manifest in a way that aligns with His holy nature.
John 7 is a chapter of ‘real life’ actions and ‘real life’ interactions that describe the attitude of society. This is manifest in the questions asked and the statements made about the Lord Jesus, thus, “how do you see Jesus?” is valid & necessary question to ask.
David North from Ambassadors & Power to Change comes and shares the key to living in the Spirit.
Capernwray Australia run the service today and one of their students from Germany shares the Word with us.
Today's account shows the heart of God that reaches out to those in need, as well as meet them where they’re at.
It is of note how we, as people, will go to the furthest of lengths to enforce OUR laws, OUR standards, & OUR righteousness’ over the very heart of God and end up ‘overlooking’ or even ‘dismissing’ the work of grace that has impacted a persons heart.
Now it is in the addressing of religious legalist's that Jesus shares some truths, from which, we can glean some ‘keys’ to unlock the knowledge of God’s will in our lives.
Bob Mendelshon from Jews for Jesus Australia joins us to share some amazing realities from John 4... the encounter that Jesus has with the woman of Samaria.
What many of us lack as Christians today… the knowledge of God’s plans; my role in connection with His plans; & my obedience to His instruction to fulfill those plans. Things John reveals in his response to their concerns…
This is what makes John the Baptist such an interesting person to look into. Join us as we examine the heart of the Baptist and his connection with Jesus.
In the letter to the ‘diaspora’ church Peter writes ...the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God... (1 Pt 4:17a kjv).

As we look into the new year we want to be able to examine what Jesus' vision for His church is.
We'll do this be looking at the great example Jesus gives from John 13:1-17; that beyond the practical expression of Jesus selfless example is the example of Jesus' knowledge of His Father's timetable; His Father's authority; & His Father's sovereignty.
In examining this we can also draw from how we, too, can draw from His example the necessity for us to know our Lord's timetable, authority, & sovereignty too.

Of these three mentions regarding the ‘Precious Person of Christ’ – it is this third one I’d like to share with you today and what the Precious Person of Christ does IN us, for the purpose of doing His will.

What are the ‘flavours’ that have captured your attention? What have you ‘tasted’ that makes the Lord seem, at this moment in time, dry & unappealing? Does the call of God, your relationship with Jesus, this life of submission & yielding to God’s will look like brusell sprouts or some other vegetable you don’t like (good for you but you can’t bear the taste)?
Today we’re going to look at another ‘set-up’ and punchline from 1 Peter… and I’m going to us 1 Pet 2:3 as both the introduction AND the conclusion of todays message…

Lately we’ve been following a theme of ‘family’ – whether the Father-heart of God; relating to God as our Father or our roles as His children.
In talking with Ps. Roger the other day, he shared how many of the young men he minsters too come from fatherless homes.
Because of that dynamic, the basic skills, work ethic, and social skills these young men lack is because their male influences come from movies, social media, music, etc. that has resulted in a distorted view of manhood.
Thus, as Peter writes to the ‘diaspora’ – the church of Christ that has been scattered all throughout the regions of Asia Minor (what is now modern Turkey) (vs.1-2). He seeks to instill hope, amidst persecution; comfort in the face of trial; & direction despite massive opposition.

The world is a tough place… society is difficult to navigate… life can be ‘formless, empty, dark, & tumultuous’ especially if one tries to live without God.
So as parents, specifically fathers, who we celebrate today… navigating fatherhood, manhood, parenthood, whatever ‘hood’ is best addressed when God is central.
Thus, for this message we'll look at an example in Luke 15 that shows “the Loving Heart of God.”

The focus of today’s message isn’t the foundational reality of Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth… but instead the picture of life portrayed in vs.2 BEFORE God steps in…
Thus, a message titled "the God Who Speaks into Your Circumstance"

As we did last week, we’re looking at a specific stage of growth in the Christian life from 1 John 2:12-14.
Last week we had 2 distinct words that defined us as believers… ‘teknon’ meaning all of us as children of God & ‘paidion’ meaning youngsters, or immature, children of God. Thus, the next message from the same passage is what I’ve titled ‘HOW to Live As Followers of Jesus’

In this beautiful letter, the disciple whom Jesus loved (John) expounds on the reality of true love, the challenges of the world, the importance of Christ’s incarnation. This specific section (1 John 2:12-14) is titled ‘Reasons for Writing’ John looks to address the various stages we experience on our journey with Jesus.
This week... we look to see 'HOW' we are to live as a child of God.

Today’s message is the challenge God’s word brings before us… when we look at the part WE play in our walk with the Lord. With the exception of the main thought that this chapter repeats… “What the Lord Almighty says…” this is the only other repeated phrase
Zechariah 8:9 & 13b
“Now hear these words, ‘Let your hands be strong [...] Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”
Referring to our preparation & readiness for the call of God on our lives... I pray you'll be blessed as you hear '...what the LORD ALMIGHTY says...' to your today!

The main point of today’s message… is that for the children of Israel & their new life in Jerusalem, after years of slavery... had now reached a point that it was no longer about God.
It was no longer about their God ordained purpose, it was no longer about their privileged position as the apple of God’s eye, rather it was about THEMSELVES.
And THAT is a chief danger that faces the church in the 21st Century today.
"I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost; Christianity without Christ; forgiveness without repentance; salvation without regeneration; politics without God; and Heaven without Hell." William Booth

We read of a specific word (v.6), given to a specific person (Zechariah), to be imparted to another person (Zerubbabel), for a specific purpose (building the Temple).
The uniqueness of THAT message to Zerubbabel through Zechariah has applications for you and I in 21st century.
Have you noticed, as a leader (church or otherwise), a parent, an employer, a teacher, or a politician… how difficult it is to work with people?
To motivate others to do something they DON’T want to do; to enthuse others where enthusiasm lacks; to draw commitment from those who profess commitment but, for whatever reason, don’t follow through?
This is what Zerubbabel faced and this is why THIS word (4:6) for him is so necessary…

This morning we’re going to look at Zec 2:1-13, and focus on several declarations the Lord makes - a ‘declaration’ is defined as ‘a positive, explicit, or formal statement/a proclamation; the act of declaring/announcement’
Thus, for a people in a state of apathy, these declarations are to encourage the soul, stir up the spirit, & excite the heart. For in these declarations, the Lord is revealing Himself in such way that the question ‘who are you Lord?’ is answered for us... provided were looking in the right places!!

Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness where He was tempted of the devil. He has now returned in the power of the Spirit and is standing out as someone completely different from the religious leaders of the day. (see Luke 4). As He stands out, we begin this chapter with people crowding around Him listening to the Word of God.
Jesus proclaims of a message that spoke to the hearts of the people. He wasn’t spitting ‘facts alone’ nor was He a teacher of knowledge that had no real impact or effect in life. Rather He taught truths that ‘personalized’ God as SOMEONE nigh at hand and not just afar off.
You see His interaction with the ‘average joe (Joseph Mt 1), the alienated leper (Mt 8), the outcast of society (Jn 4), or just curious kids’ (mt 19), and you see the heart of God for… people!’.

Last week we touched on ‘Wanting to See Jesus’ – and the things Zacchaeus was willing to do to ‘catch a glimpse’ of the Lord (see Luke 19:1-10).
This actually has relevance for today’s message because it’s the Lord emphasizing a reality that a lot of us know and are willing to exercise… when we WANT something!
There are always prices we are willing to pay for things that we ‘want’ – Joshua wanting to stay in the Tabernacle (Ex 33:11); Jonah wanting to run away from God (Jon1:2); or Zacchaeus (Luke 19:3) wanting to see Jesus… all willing to pay the price & suffer the consequence for ‘what they wanted.’

Up to now in Deuteronomy, Moses is recounting to the people their past… the spies being sent; their rebellion against the Lord; their wilderness wandering; their victory over Sihon & Og; the dividing of the land; even Moses’ rejection from the Promised Land.
Then there’s this call to obedience; God establishing His place of sovereignty and practical instructions for how they are to conduct themselves as a society… e.g. the cities of refuge, the re-introduction of God’s Law, the charge to families & raising children etc.
This, then, brings us to ch7… there are these specific exhortations as to WHAT THEY MUST do WITH the Lord in the claiming of and in the living IN the Promised Land… specifically, in the ‘driving out the foreign nations’
So, how are they going to go about conquering a land that, was already occupied by ‘others’ who claimed it as their own?

A couple of weeks ago we compared Israel, then, entering the Promised Land… with US, now, as we stand on the beginning of our new year.
Desiring that, as we enter… that we’ve been here long enough; (going through the motions, a lot of movement but little progression/growth, discontent with the spiritual dryness we may be experiencing) and, like Israel, instructed to ‘break camp’ (repent); advance (obey); go in (claim His promises); and possess (live in abundance with…) what was promised to us by Jesus.
This morning I wanted to continue in chapter one, as we move from ‘where we enter’ -- to ‘how we stay there’!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!
In Deuteronomy 1 we see a generation that are privileged to take possession, literally, of the land, life, & legacy that was promised to their predecessors & rejected through their unbelief. Thus the challenges facing them was MORE than just them going in and taking the land BUT also establishing of a completely 'new' nation (remember… they’ve been foreigners in a foreign land for centuries NOW called to establish a country of their own with a theocratic rule).
An amazing parallel to consider is how WE contrast a similar journey... with our trials, victories, AND defeats, as we seek to live in the abundant life promised to us in Christ (see Jn 10:10).
I pray the ideas, themes, truths, & principals revealed HERE, could translate into 21stC application for each of us -- as individuals, families, relationships, AND as a church as we begin our ‘entry into this new year.’

When asked to sum up the past year in three words or less, some of the responses were:
Humorous: Go To Sleep; Oven’s Finally Clean
Serious: Very Bad Year; Year of Reckoning
Telling: Challenging Testing Blessings; Very Blessed Year
Encouraging: Blessed Family Compassion; God is Gracious; Our God Reigns
or Worrisome: Uncertainty Isolation Lonely
Something I want you to consider when you think on these assessments of the past year. That the challenges, changes; the testings & reckonings; the uncertainties & doubts; that 2021 brought us, ALSO brought the same opportunities to discover & find blessing; grow in compassion & graciousness; grow in intimacy with the Lord and through which our ; FAITH in GOD’s SOVEREIGN REIGN could be experienced too.
We all experience the ‘curse’ of the routine… whether relational, professional, or cultural. We can become so familiar with something that we can, for want of a better word, BORED, with it all.
Christmas is no exception.
The Christmas message… I’m sad to say… can fall into that same category of ‘routine familiarity’ as well. And after hearing it over & over & over can relegate this amazing story into the back recesses of our hearts & minds. Looking at 1 John 4:7-8, lets take a little time to see how the Christmas message is not only a message of Hope, and of Peace, but… if anything, a great message of LOVE.

Merry Christmas everybody!
There is a specific difference between last weeks message about Christmas (that of HOPE) and today's message about Christmas… being a message of PEACE. With HOPE there is a small amount that can attributed to what we can DO... we know the word of God, we see the person of Jesus, we experience the moving the Holy Spirit and understand the love of our heavenly Father.
BUT with PEACE it isn't a response to something; rather it is the result FROM something, and while some hold the view that peace is the absence of conflict, I contend that one can still experience peace, even in the midst of battle, stress, or overwhelming situations.

We’ve spent the last three weeks looking at ‘faith’ what it is, how it works, and where it leads. And while we’ve touched on what God can do through people when they are confronted by the unknown and directed move into the unknown, the beautiful truth that we close our chapter with today is by looking at the vessels that this great God chooses to use for the purpose of fulfilling His will on the earth.
While the previous 31 verses is a detailed explanation of faith and the effects faith has in the lives of God’s people; it is a testimony of the ‘joint venture’ WITH God when one walks, by faith, alongside Him. or, as today's sermon title states; ‘...the Adventure of Walking with the Lord’

Where Joshua was called to move into the unknown last week, he & the children of Israel could boldly move into the unknown BECAUSE the Lord was with them!!
How then, does one respond when the unknown comes to you? When, from out of the blue, a situation arises that causes you to question what you do, in whom you believe, and how the next step is to be taken? Thus, today's message is looking at the account of Rahab, whereby we can see a few lessons that would be of great importance for us to take notice of. The focus of Rahab's story is how the grace of God working in her heart was all in preparation for God to reveal Himself to her... or as stated earlier, to be Confronted by the Unknown.

One of the ways Hebrews 11 can be viewed, is from ‘God’s perspective.’ How HE moved through each of the individuals named provided they would trust Him. And while the God of Israel doesn’t NEED any of the, limited resources, people provide; He invited the likes of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah AND us, to play an active part in His plans for humanity. That’s what makes this chapter so exciting!

Today we 'close out' our study in Jonah… as we see more of God in his dealing with those who know him (Jonah), those who don’t know him (the sailors) and most amazingly those who are known to have nothing to do with Him at all (Nineveh).
The greatness of His patience, the wonder of His love, and the extent of His grace are all exemplified in Jonah’s account and what’s more, reaches even further when we’re given an insight to God’s reasoning for His persistence.
So, regardless of the context of our various circumstance we need to take a step back and filter our feelings, our thoughts, and our circumstances through the truths of God’s word, by the unction of the Holy Spirit, and with our eyes on the Lord Jesus -- otherwise our feelings will run away with us; our arguments will steel themselves within us, and the bitterness that may have began as a ‘seed’ will be used by the enemy to grow it into full blown defiance. Today we get to see the steps God takes in restoring to Jonah the honour & privilege to continue in service of the Almighty.
Thus, the God of Second Chances is revealed; the authority of God's Strong Word is made manifest; and the Supernatural Miraculous take place because 'For God so loved the world...' (Jn 3:16a). And, in turn, we see the these same truths made evident to us as the children of God through Jesus Christ.

Last week we began a study in Jonah… we looked at his calling and drew some important lessons that could be applied to us as Christians (specifically Fathers as we celebrated Fathers Day).
Today we continue the study in Jonah, and we'll look at his response (as he flee's God's call) and the gracious persistence God shown toward him.
Never should we allow the shadow of familiarity to lessen the lustre of the tremendous truths of God's Word, never should we become casual about the power and great glory that is encased within the gospel of grace, and the continual persistence of God's love reaching out to us!!

For Mothers Day in March we had a look at Jochebed, a mother that entrusted her son to the Lord as looked at ‘God’s Grace Upon Her’ ... a miraculous moving of the Lord in her life, as she did what she could but, in the end, could only commit her son into the hands of God Almighty.
Today is Father’s Day, and today we’re going to look at a biblical character that, while not a dad, see how he conducts himself in connection with his divine call. The focus, then, is that of calling... one’s response to that calling... and the grace one experiences despite the response.
Thus, we’re going to look at “God’s Grace Toward Him: A Father’s Day Lesson” as displayed through Jonah.

When confronted with a challenge, a problem, or an obstacle, the way it is seen… or the perspective you have, plays a huge part in how the next step is taken.
So too in our walks with Jesus… if all you see is what God isn’t doing (from your perspective) then you’ll totally miss out of witnessing what God IS doing from His perspective. If all you see is what you DON’T have (from your perspective) then you’ll totally overlook everything you DO have in Christ. If all you see is what others are NOT doing then you’ll completely dismiss all that others have done, are doing, or trying to do in your life as well!
Not having the right perspective, or more accurately, not having God’s perspective in connection with what’s taking place around us, with us, and through us can result in us missing out on the abundance promised us - in Christ. Have a listen as we look at an example from Elisha's life and what he witnessed God do!

When you read the scriptures we can quickly see that living with some sort of ‘restrictions’ was nothing new to the saints of old. From the days of Moses – to the time of the Apostles – at the age of the Reformers – and today’s conditions for the persecuted church… the capacity for & the opportunity to grow, develop, & mature as followers of Jesus Christ has always been present, even in the midst of restrictions of some sort.
Last year, when this ‘pandemic adventure’ began, a phrase was mentioned that stays true today… “…that while the context may change… the call remains the same”
So this morning we're going to draw from Paul's letter to Timothy how we, as believers, can take up the call to 'fight the good fight of faith' - even if we're living under restrictions.

What is Anxiety? Why do we get anxious and how do we go about our lives when faced with so much distress in the world today?
Today we look at a well known passage of scripture from Paul's letter to the Philippian church... in this passage we'll look at three instructions that, prayerfully, will equip us to live above anxiety.
[1] standing firm in the Lord - in this way [2] do not be anxious - for anything [3] in every instance - pray
If anxiety is the distress or uneasiness of mind that is caused by the fear of danger or misfortune, then the key to overcome it is found in Christ.

This is the final Core Value of Grace Christian Church... and that is how we, as disciples of Jesus Christ, are not only a Building (built on a the firm foundation of Christ), a Body (diverse and yet united in Christ), and a Bride (loved to death by Christ), but we are also set apart to as the Family of God too.
Purchased by His blood, sealed by His Spirit, secured by His love... thus, we get to look at today the 'Shape' we take as God's family, and the 'Function' we fulfill as that family. Spend a bit of time going through the word as we examine this last of the 10 Core Values we have at G.C.C.

Today's sermon is looking at two of the greatest expressions we have been blessed with as followers of Jesus... that of Prayer & Worship.
For much of the church today, there is a loss of appreciation & valuing of these aspects in our Christian journey...they are not expectations we have earned but rather blessings we have been given. So this morning we are going to look a little more in depth at these wonderful privileges we have received from God the Father because of God the Son.

The definition of ‘culture’ is very formal and interpreted differently due to one’s context; in light of this, Culture can be defined as ‘…the qualities for which a specific group (i.e. family, team, church, etc.) or location (i.e. country, district, community, etc.) is defined or known by (a family culture defined by love; a winning culture defined by success; a toxic culture defined by tearing down… etc.)’ In light of this, what ‘culture’ have we created here in GCC and what steps can we take to bring about a culture ‘scented’ with the touch of heaven?
Core Value #8 Church culture: We promote mutual acceptance, cultural relevance & doctrinal purity.
Things that are necessary & interdependent with each other, as one looks to develop a God honouring & God glorifying church culture... thus, ‘from the get go’ one must ask themselves… [1] what can I do to promote acceptance… especially with those I don’t get along with? [2] how can I be active in making myself relevant to every person that are of different ages, races, languages, even mindsets, within our church? & [3] am I living in obedience to the Word of God in a way that draws people to Jesus (as He is lifted up in my life, family, & church)?

Have a blessed day saints!!
Now there is an interesting wording in this core value that, to me, makes it stand out from the others.
You see the previous Core Values can be considered ‘reminders or prompts’ that align us as a church and as individuals with the heart, mind, & goals of God as revealed through Jesus Christ. This Core Value isn’t a prompt or reminder but rather an exhortation, or an expectation placed upon us because it is a core value that appeals to US ‘being a specific way’ now that we are, in Christ.
This is all communicated by the use of one single word ‘SHOULD’ and there, in that word is our expectation… if you are a Christian, if you have trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, & committed your life to Him through faith in Jesus, then according to THE BIBLE (not the core value), then you SHOULD yearn for growth & devotion as His disciple.
Core Value #7: Spiritual growth — every believer should yearn for continuous growth and become a fully devoted disciple of Christ.

Today we have a guest speaker who has taken the time to record a message about GCC's 6th Core Value.
Henry looks at several things regarding how we, as the church, can make an impact for the kingdom of God through our supernatural identity as God's children. That our love would be real and our motivation genuine ans we seek to show the love of Jesus to the world. That our Core Value of: "Love & authenticity—to permeate relationships across all genders, cultures, generations and socio-economic status." would be a reality and not a 'hopeful wish.'

For many of us, we may see serving (whatever the capacity) as as a burden; it may be viewed as a chore; if you want to view it pessimistically it’s an avenue for free labour & resources for the church. Even for those in ministry, that may have started out as enthusiastically and excitable are soon discouraged and wondering ‘what’s the point or why even bother' mindset.
This all comes from the mis-perception of what ministry is… ministry is service, ministry is sacrifice, ministry is others focused, ministry is the privilege that Christ Himself has made available for US as His followers, to play an active part is the work of building HIS church.
He has ALLOWED us the blessing to give back to Him through privilege of SERVICE by offering, willingly, that which He has already given to us.
Core Value #5: Ministry—the church to operate as a unified community of servants, fully equipped to humbly and faithfully steward their spiritual gifts, abilities, skills, time, money and resources for the common good.

The word ‘EVANGELISM/EVANGELIST’ means: …the preaching or promulgation of the gospel; the work of an evangelist. evangelicalism.missionary zeal, purpose, or activity. Evangelism, although an act usually propagated by one titled as an evangelist, So, lets start with what the word ‘EVANGELISM/EVANGELIST’ means:
…the preaching or promulgation of the gospel; the work of an evangelist. evangelicalism.missionary zeal, purpose, or activity.Evangelism is an act usually propagated by one titled as an evangelist (a word mentioned only three times in the bible) evangelizing is more than just ‘preaching’ it is also the promulgation of the gospel too. Promulgation means to make known a law or declare publicly – which can de done through ACTION as well as through speech.
So, with the 4th Core Value, there are two things I want to focus on this morning… [1] prayerfully, the heart behind evangelism (the motivation) & [2] the ways of evangelism made available for us (the means).

As we continue our series on the Core Values of the Church, we are examining the third, foundational, value by which the church is to be governed.
As controversial as this may seem, the church is not a democracy - for the Bible is to be the governing authority for the churches direction; nor is the church as dictatorship - for the Bible supersedes any mans (leader or otherwise) personal agenda. Thus, for today, we look over the fact that the gift that God has given us... His Word (the Bible) is the authority by which the conduct of the church AND the conduct of our lives as individuals must be aligned with.
CORE VALUE #3: the Bible, God's infallible Word and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.

Therefore we begin a new series looking at the Core Values we hold here at Grace Christian Church, in order to refocus our vision, remind us of our call, and reinvigorate us in our journey, as followers of the Lord Jesus. Our first Core Value?
CORE VALUE #1: Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church and central to all that we do.

Last week we looked at ‘the God in Charge’ – it was but a skimming over the amazing truth that God is God, He is Boss, and He is in control.
In the days of Noah, when every imagination of mans heart was only evil continually – He was in charge; when His people were in slavery in Egypt and they cried out for help in their oppression – He was in charge;
When Jesus was nailed to a Cross after going through a mockery of a trial with trumped up accusations – He was in charge; and today… with a political climate that is the ‘hotbed’ of discussion; an atmosphere that is antagonistic to Jesus Christ; and a world that appears to be losing the principals of common decency – God IS and will ALWAYS BE in charge!!
Thus, in light of this first lesson (that God is God & He is BOSS); we look at this second lesson that our Sovereign God is also the God who SAVES.

The final session of teaching from Mike Peautangitama.
It has been a blessed journey, as the challenge to 'go deeper' in various aspects of our Christian lives has been laid before us.
The question we must address is 'what are we going to do now!?' - we can either choose to remain in the shallows of our faith, never growing, never knowing, and never experiencing the fullness of God's greatness OR we go into the depths... the depths of His Word, the depths of loving & caring relationships, the depths of partnering with Israel, the depths of our faith... and today, the depths of our availability to the Lord.

We can often forget the greatness of our God, the beauty of our Lord, and the presence of His comforting Spirit -- not intentionally for it can just be 'life' and the busyness it creates.
Thus, at the beginning of the Christmas season, I wanted us to get back to the basics of that invitation and the steps the Lord has taken to extend that invitation to US by looking at WHO God is and get reacquainted with Him; not just academically & intellectually, but relation-ally & experientiallly too!

There are numerous questions Jesus asks people throughout the gospels, today we look at two foundational, if not basic, questions for all the followers of Jesus to answer.
Looking at the questions Jesus asked of His disciples in Matthew 16:13-15 prompts, not only the disciples, but US to answer and see how we answer influences what/who we believe and what/how we live in today's 'modern world'.

In light of the last days it is very easy to become 'lax' in our Christian walk; 'doubtful' of the Lord's return; or distracted from fulfilling our call. One of the means by which such attitudes can be combated in our lives is the gift of 'Understanding God's Plan' - we have been given great insights, by His Spirit through His word.
Therefore, lets take some time to examine the scriptures as shared from the Epistle of Jude... may the Lord bless you as you hear from Him this day!!

Today's message is a message of preparedness.
A message that calls is ‘…redeem the time, because the days are evil…’ because regardless of what perspective you adhere too: A-millennial, Post-millennial, or the 0Pre-millennial perspective, the common factor each view has; is that of the Lord Jesus’ Return. His return in authority, in judgement, & in sovereignty that IS imminent -- as in IT’s GOING TO HAPPEN!!
So the question one must ask is... "Am I ready?"

We revisit 1 Thessalonians to look at the encouragement Paul gives to this young church as they look at loss... specifically the loss that is death.
The only reason death can be viewed as 'sleep' is because we know a Saviour who has conquered death, overcome the grave, and reigns in authority over all. Prayerfully you might find encouragement in loss too because your hope is not in a 'happening' but in the person of Jesus Christ!!

We’ve skipped 1 Thess 4:13-5:5 because it is a passage that will be looked at for its eschatological meaning in the next series.
Thus, this week, we are going to look at the final chapter of this letter and draw encouragement from the word, as we heed the Practical Instruction of the Lord, in light of His imminent return (from 4:13-5:15).
So join us as we look at this days: Basic InstructionBefore Leaving Earth!!

Have a Blessed day Saints!!
Paul continues in his encouragement of the Thessalonian believers by reminding them of the 'How To Instructions...' in order to live a life pleasing to God (1 Thess 4:1).
We are encouraged in today's text, to practically apply the biblical truths that the gospel proclaims, in order to have God's Will manifest by what we do.
I pray that the challenge laid out before us will not be cast aside easily as the Word impresses upon us God's desire for us as His children!!

The uniqueness of this letter is manifest in the way Paul speaks about these fellow believers. His concern and care goes beyond just 'writing a letter' but is also manifest in his sending of Timothy to find out about their situation.
Today in 1 Thessalonians 3, prayerfully, we'll be able to draw some practical lessons from this example and, through the Holy Spirit, exercise the same concern, warning, and guidance that Paul shows so clearly to the church.

Continuing with the encouragement Paul seeks to give this church in Thessalonica, he shares his heart openly and reflects the heart of God in his care for the Lord's church. In so doing we see how the heart of God, in turn, seeks to encourage, comfort, & urge His people in living worthy of God, His kingdom, & His glory!!

This week we begin a new series from 1 Thessalonians. Paul & the team were only able to spend three weeks in this area (see Acts 17:1-9), and yet God was able to take that limited time and, through His grace, by His power, & in His name, He is able to establish a church to glorify Himself in the midst of severe persecution.
And in that persecution, the church is encouraged with their Identity, encouraged in their Action, and encouraged to where their Hope is to be.

The Lord Jesus has always sought to give His people a 'heads up' regarding what He was going to be doing. Whether He is going to suffer persecution at the hands of the Pharisees (see Mt 16:21); warn of the opposition one will face as His follower (see Mk 13:13); or of the promise of His provision in the future (See Acts 1:4-5)... we are privileged enough to be given an insight into the thoughts that are higher than our thoughts, and ways that are higher than our ways (see Isa 55).
Such is the intent of the Lord's word as the scriptures grant us an insight into what 'Jesus Has Told Us' -- [1] What He Said [2] Why He Said It, and [3] What It Means For Us… such is the privileged position WE have in Christ.

Happy Father's Day!!
Today is an encouragement to Dad's as we celebrate Father's Day... that from the example of Zechariah and his journey in becoming a dad (Luke 1); we can draw three very important lessons:
[1] A Positive Portrayal - what we CAN be... [2] A Honest Picture - what we ARE... and [3] A Blessed Privilege - what we GET to do...
Prayerfully there'll be something that will greatly encourage (not only Dad's) but all of us as followers of Christ!!

Paul describes to the Corinthian church, how God is the Father of Compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Cor 1:3). This is appropriate, as they have gone through some recent times... thus, he seeks to remind them of Who God Is; What We Receive & What We (are to) See -- because of the Lord Jesus.
Prayerfully, there will be practical lessons that we, too, can learn as we look at 2 Corinthians 1:3-7.

The blessing of knowing that you are being prayed for & to know how you are being prayed is a beautiful encouragement for us, especially when we know that our Lord is praying for us too.
Thus, Ps. Roy Gomez of Allawah Community Church, shares from the Lord's Prayer in John 17 and touches on two specific points that Jesus prayed for His disciples and, in turn, for us as well.

Asking the right questions can be important tools for us learn. The Apostle Paul poses numerous rhetorical questions in Romans 8 , in order to direct the readers (and listeners) to the most obvious of answers - for the purpose of encouragement of the saints, edification of the church, & the elaboration of the gospel.
The answer, although very obvious, is also the greatest of blessings to us as God's people!

After looking at the knowledge of God being present, of His person and His uniqueness last week - as well as being reminded of His love, mercy, & grace as we celebrated communion this morning - it seems appropriate for you and I to spend some time looking at how the Lord Jesus is, truly ‘better than…’ anyone or anything from Hebrews 3:1-6. Thus, our Exalted Christ also bestows upon us as His church, a Shared Calling that points to our privilege in knowing and serving our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

*Reading: Joel 1:1-12
At times we, as God's people, find ourselves looking for the blessing of God instead of realizing that the greatest of God's blessings is actually the blessing of knowing Him.
Prayerfully we'll find ourselves encouraged from the message of Joel, as the Lord expresses His desire to be close with His people!!

With everything going on in the world today, prayerfully this will be a reminder to us of God's initiative toward us -- that saw us through His eyes of loving grace, past our problem -- and, through Jesus Christ, instructed us in order to experience the abundance of life He has promised us.

Colossians 1:15
It is so easy for us to forget... we forget birthdays, we forget special occasions, we forget important people.
Sometimes we choose to forget, but most times we forget because our minds and focus are just consumed with numerous issues that surround us.
With everything going on in today's world, it is really easy to forget THE most important person of all.
Today's message comes from Paul's letter to the Colossians to remind is of 'Who Jesus Is...'
What’s in a name? What significance is found in our name, other than something to identify ourselves with?
Today we look at the ‘name above all names’ – the name to which ‘…every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…’ (Philippians 2:10)
Join us as we examine the scriptures and look at the Beauty, Authority, & Power of Jesus’ name.
What a wonderful name it is!!
2 Timothy 3:16-17
In the final of our ‘Living In’ series; we look at the importance of ‘Being Prepared & Equipped’ to live in a way that glorifies our Lord and enables us to have an impact in this world we live in.
Therefore we’ll look at the weapon we’ve been given in the Sword of the Spirit and how we can effectively wield it in Jesus’ name.
2 Corinthians 5:14-16
‘What does it mean to Live in Divine Purpose?’ Considering we find it difficult to live ‘looking out for #1 all the time.
Today’s message is focusing on the theme for GCC this coming year… to ‘Live in Divine Purpose’ using 2 Corinthians 5:16 as our text. Prayerfully you may be blessed and challenged to ‘…no longer live for [y]ourselves but for Him who died for them [us] and rose again.’
‘stand strong & walk close’
2 Timothy 3:1-5
‘Are we in the Last Days? If we are, how do we know? What are some of the ‘markers’ of these Last Days?’
Today’s message is taking a brief look at these ‘perilous times’ from 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Paul mentions four LOVEs in this passage and we’ll see their influence & relevance to us and how we can overcome them as disciples of Jesus in the 21st Century.
‘stand strong [in Him] & walk close [to Him]’
If the primary motivation to pursue Jesus Christ is 'love' - what then, is the natural outworking in that love for Jesus?
