As a certified relationship and marriage coach, I've encountered numerous women who have faced the uncomfortable and potentially career-threatening situation of their boss asking for a romantic relationship. It's essential to address this sensitive topic and provide guidance on how to handle it with professionalism and poise.
The Power Dynamic
When your boss expresses romantic interest, it can create an uneven power dynamic, making it challenging to navigate the situation. You may feel pressured, anxious, or even fearful about the potential consequences of saying no. It's crucial to remember that you have the right to set boundaries and prioritize your well-being.
Communicating Your Boundaries
If your boss asks for a romantic relationship, it's essential to:
Acknowledge their interest: Show appreciation for their confidence in you, but avoid leading them on.
Set clear boundaries: Politely but firmly express your discomfort with mixing personal and professional relationships.
Focus on your job: Emphasize your commitment to your role and the company.
Example script:
"Thank you for considering me, but I'm uncomfortable with blurring the lines between our professional relationship and personal life. I'm dedicated to my job and would like to maintain a professional dynamic."
Potential Consequences
While it's natural to worry about potential repercussions, saying no to your boss's romantic advances doesn't necessarily mean you'll lose your job. However, it's essential to be prepared for any outcome.
Document everything: Keep a record of conversations, emails, or meetings related to the situation.
Seek HR support: Familiarize yourself with your company's policies and procedures for reporting harassment or uncomfortable situations.
Be confident: Remember that your worth and value as an employee aren't defined by your response to your boss's advances.
Finding a Way Out
If your boss continues to pursue a romantic relationship despite your clear boundaries, consider:
Transferring departments: If possible, explore internal transfer options to distance yourself from the situation.
Seeking outside help: Consult with a career coach or a professional organization for guidance and support.
Evaluating your options: If the situation becomes unbearable, it may be time to explore new job opportunities.
Conclusion
Remember, your career and well-being are paramount. Don't feel pressured to compromise your values or boundaries to maintain a job. By communicating your boundaries clearly and seeking support when needed, you can navigate this challenging situation with confidence and professionalism.
In my experience as a counsellor, a lot of people run to us and state their intentions of a divorce. You will wonder how they come up with such a consideration on their own or a couple. There are obviously a lot of reasons why they consider to have a divorce but among these reasons, there are 5 meaningless reasons I love to highlight in this article.
Social media usage
House chores
Different hobbies
Sleep preferences
Dietary differences
These reasons are meaningless to consider a divorce because both partners are not from the same background and due to those differences, you cannot use it as a criteria for a divorce. Marriage is a platform to learn each other, to know each other more and grow together.
There are no good reasons for partners to divorce except the union was done under deception. It is important you consult your counsellor if an issue in your marriage has gone beyond you before coonsidering a divorce from the beginning.
Nobody promised you a marriage with no challenge. Your love for each other should be able to solve the challenge.

Everyone knows a couple who constantly quarrels or has conflict – it may even be you and your partner or you as a single individual with your soon to be partner.
You may argue so frequently that it becomes a norm.
Is this really expected to bring you joy and companionship in your relationship??
What if you could solve arguing in your relationship almost immediately? It’s possible.
Expectations in a relationship form the basis of whether or not the partnership works for both people. By shifting your mindset, your relationship can become happier, more peaceful and more productive.
Before we proceed with the ways to deal with expectations in a relationship, let's talk about ...
The difference between standards and expectations in relationships
STANDARDS are guidelines on what one will accept in the present moment. They represent what you want in a partner: sense of humor, similar values and beliefs, attitude and perspective on life.
EXPECTATIONS are what one wants to happen in the future – certain actions one wishes someone would take or an event one wishes would happen. When what we expect to happen doesn’t, we feel disappointed, sad and even angry.
There’s nothing wrong with raising your standards – in fact, learning how to accept nothing less than the best is key to building the life of your dreams. And if someone doesn’t meet your standards, you’re absolutely allowed to move on.
However, your partner can meet all of your standards and still fall short of meeting your expectations in a relationship. It is the set expectations that gets relationships in trouble.
How does expectations in a relationship can cause problems
What we presume a relationship will look like shapes our contribution to the partnership.
Expectations in a relationship are subjective, biased and can differ from person to person. Some may expect their spouse to take out the garbage and they, in turn, may expect you to have breakfast on the table every morning. But both people assuming the other person knows this automatically without ever having a conversation about it, can lead to tension in the relationship.
The problem with expectations in a relationship is that they’re just like an opinion: Everyone has one – and they don’t always match up to the other person’s thoughts. This is the birthplace of bickering and quarreling, and it is where knowing what to expect in a relationship come into play. When you are both on the same page about what a healthy relationship looks like, you are ready to take action and create reasonable expectations in a relationship. When you are able to articulate your respective needs, you are in a place to make those expectations work.
WHAT ARE REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS IN A RELATIONSHIP ?
It is important to realize that in talking about how mismatched expectations can lead to fighting, we are not saying you don’t have a right to expect anything out of your partnership. The opposite is true: You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and so does your partner. Expect intimacy and passion. Expect unconditional love and support. These are reasonable expectations in a relationship and they fall more under the category of standards than expectations.
Unrealistic expectations include things like wanting your partner to change their values, be the source of all your happiness or go against their natural masculine or feminine polarity. Don’t expect your partner to react or feel the same way you do. And never expect perfection. As Tony says, perfection is the enemy of good.
HOW TO MANAGE EXPECTATIONS IN A RELATIONSHIP
Fortunately, there is a solution for dealing with mismatched expectations in a relationship!
When our focus is centered on our differences in expectations, rather than our appreciation for the things the other person does “right,” conflict is inevitable. The way any two people decide to fold towels, for instance, will probably differ, but does that make one of the ways wrong? Of course not. Expectations with no appreciation leads to nagging, which leads to frustration, which in turn leads to – you guessed right – bickering and quarreling.
Think about the things you and your partner have fought over. How many of these fights are actually over something important? Have any of them had a productive resolution? Most likely, the answer is no. It’s often said, “We argue about the smallest things.” Consider your expectations in a relationship. Are the towels worth the emotional turmoil? Probably not. Why not spend your time doing something that’s not only productive, but more beneficial to the strength and longevity of your relationship?
Overcoming expectations in a relationship starts with understanding what constitutes a quality partnership .
THERE ARE 10 CARDINAL RULES OF LOVE.
_Trade your expectation for appreciation and your whole world will change_
Tony Robbins
Learn to trade expectations for appreciation, and your entire relationship – and world – will change. Rather than focusing on the negative, make a point to value your partner’s positive qualities. This will take you further positively in your relationship. They may not have folded the towels the way you wanted them to, but at least they made an effort to do their fair share by putting the laundry away. Maybe they did the dishes after dinner or took the dog for a walk because you had a long day at work. If you pay attention, there is always something to appreciate. What was it that attracted you to them in the first place? It wasn’t their towel-folding abilities. It was their warmth, kindness and love for life.
That sentiment can apply to anything in life, but if we apply that same thought to our relationships, appreciation can be the trigger that puts an end to your unhealthy and unrealistic expectations in a relationship.
Compassion is at the top of the list of what to expect in a relationship. To successfully navigate any relationship, you want to demonstrate compassion by prioritizing your love over your expectations. As important as it is to learn how to manage expectations in a relationship, remember that expectations are there to facilitate warmth. At the end of the day, it’s your partnership that is most important.
Respect is the basis of any relationship, romantic or otherwise. To show respect means to value the other person’s perspective and needs – this is the basis of effective communication. To show respect for your partner, correct them in love and seek a playful, empathetic way to redirect an argument. From there, you’re able to find solutions without creating unnecessary tension.
Healthy relationships hinge on consideration – for your partner, their interests and their relationship expectations. To show consideration, you must make a point to value your relationship over your relationship rules. This is a real stickler when it comes to what to expect in a relationship, since it’s easy to view the “rules” as the basis of your partnership. But when you value your partner over your rules, this paves the way for fulfilling both people’s expectations.
Devoting time to your partner is one of the most reasonable expectations in a relationship. Don’t let your partnership become a side note – take the time to reinforce your connection in hard times. When you create rituals and traditions that cement your sense of connection, you demonstrate that your relationship is a real priority.
When it comes to learning how to manage expectations in a relationship, one of the worse missteps you can make is questioning your partner’s intent. When you question the very nature of your relationship, it weakens trust, this takes a toll on even the strongest partnerships. Just because you’re having issues doesn’t mean the relationship itself is a problem.
If you’re in an argumentative pattern with your partner, change your approach. If you don’t, you risk creating a circular loop where neither party is heard, leaving both feeling defeated. Take the high road and bow out of an argument. Take a break to regroup and consider what you’re really arguing about. When you make this a habit, you set a high standard for what to expect in a relationship with your partner.
One of the primary expectations in a relationship is that there will be give and take and mutual dialogue. Threatening your relationship with ultimatums doesn’t help anything, since it shuts down communication. If you’re at the point of threatening your partnership, it’s time to take a break and rethink the conversation.
Learning how to manage expectations in a relationship is not a one-time deal. It’s a continuous conversation where you’re touching base to see whether each other’s needs are being met. Don’t settle for stagnation, assuming your relationship is doing fine because you haven’t argued that day. When you commit to never-ending improvement, you’re able to build an extraordinary relationship.
As tempting as it is to use “textbook” expectations in a relationship as a template for your own, this approach doesn’t work. It ignores your unique personality and needs (and that of your partner) without valuing what makes your partnership unique and special. Do not adopt the standards and expectations of other couples in a relationship – work with your partner to develop your own.
Building a healthy partnership takes work, but it’s well worth the effort. Master how to manage expectations in a relationship with the H2H COUNSELLING CENTER and have the partnership of your dreams.

Marriage is an important event in the life of an individual, and it comes with a lot of uncertainties that will only be unveiled as individuals experience it. The topic might be a question that some people have in mind before starting a new relationship or taking vows of marriage.
The main aim of this article is not to convince but to state emphatically the benefits of premarital counseling which will guide the choice of those who want to start up a new relationship or marriage and have such questions in mind.
Premarital counseling is a therapy that helps the intending couple to prepare mentally for marriage. The sessions help to make sure that they both have a healthy relationship.
Here are five (5) benefits of engaging a counsellor before relationship/marriage.
When couples go to counseling, they talk together with a counsellor. Couples who go through this type of counseling inevitably build better communication skills because they have a neutral party there to help them understand one another. No doubt, this is one of the biggest benefits of premarital counselling. In addition to learning how to better communicate individual needs and desires, couples also learn how to better understand each other. They gain compassion through communication skills that will get them through the tough times.
Premarital Counselling also provides a great opportunity for couples to confront issues that could lead to serious problems in marriage, and some of these issues must have been unattended over time in the relationship.
By talking with a counsellor, couples may be able to settle money disagreements or talk about their plans to have children. Addressing issues before marriage is the best way to ensure a solid foundation for the future and to avoid serious conflicts after the big day. Of course, it's important for couples to be candid when they attend premarital counselling. That's the only way to realize the benefits of this time-honored tradition.
Many premarital counselors do more than just help couples talk through their current issues. They also help them plan actively for the future. A counsellor can help couples set financial or family planning goals, and can help them find ways to accomplish those goals. Premarital counseling is the perfect place for couples to talk about the expectations that they have for married life and what they want personally in the future too. Premarital Counsellors help their clients focus on healthy goals and relationship changes.
Counsellors ask a lot of questions when they're working with engaged couples. Listening carefully to your partner's answers is a great way to learn more about them. Many couples perceive that no one knows their partners better than they do. However, counsellors can help bring out important information that a partner might have been reluctant to share based on certain reasons. This offers great growth opportunities while helping couples learn more about each other. It's also a safe space for individuals to share things that they are nervous or upset about with their partners. It can be particularly helpful if one individual in the couple has been in failed relationships before.
There are more benefits of premarital counselling and we want to hear more from you. Kindly share in the comment section. Thank you.

What is Foreplay?
Foreplay is a sexual activity that happen before sexual intercourse. It can also be called pre- sex or warm up for sexual intercourse. Kissing, touching, talking, cuddling, sexting are some examples of foreplay. Foreplay helps to build up sexual arousal.
Why is Foreplay important?
During foreplay some hormones (oxytocin, serotonin) are released which helps to reduce stress, thereby making one more relaxed and also have fun during sex.
During foreplay blood flows into the clitoris, it also leads to the lubrication of the vagina. Without blood flow to the clitoris and the vaginal lubrication, there will be no pleasure during sex.
Foreplay also helps to build emotional intimacy between you and your partner.
Tips on how to enjoy Foreplay
Layla Martin, sex expert and author of Wild Woman in the Bedroom, says the best kind of foreplay puts the emphasis on "play," setting aside intercourse as the goal. "If you are touching or seducing your partner and you're thinking, 'I’m just doing this so we can have sex,' she’s going to feel that. It’s not going to be sexy, and can even shut her down."
What sex and foreplay look like to you doesn’t need to line up with what you see in the media.
You don’t have to follow a certain order or agenda to enjoy either! It’s like having dessert before dinner — it’ll be delicious no matter when you have it.
Remember, foreplay starts outside your bedroom, before you start touching each other.
Marriage can bring immense joy to one’s life. Having a loving and trusting relationship can be one of the best things in life. However, it is not always free from life’s difficulties and challenges . The sad part is that an unhappy marriage can cause significant strain on the marriage and lead to depression and anxiety.
Many of these couples turn to marriage counseling to help them figure out what is wrong with their union.
While marriage is generally associated with positive effects on well-being, troubled relationships can have a significant negative impact on a couple’s physical and mental health.
How can marrying wrong affect your mental health?
Studies show that our brains are programmed to depend on the person we form a bond with to manage our emotions. When experiencing fear, sadness, or anxiety, we rely on the person we love to show empathy and understanding. If our emotional needs are met with indifference, rejection, or anger, it can lead to issues with anxiety and depression. 3. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is commonly associated with traumatic events such as car accidents, but it can also be caused by the betrayal of a trusted loved one. This kind of betrayal can be incredibly psychologically devastating. It causes the body to enter a heightened state of alert to protect itself from emotional harm. This can lead to feelings of anxiety and a lack of control, making the individual feel as if they are going insane. They live in constant fear of being betrayed again. It is possible that certain reminders of the betrayal can trigger a paralyzing fear response.
Traumatic events can happen in marriage. Abused spouses are susceptible to developing emotional and psychological trauma symptoms. Unless the couples go to marriage counseling, it will be difficult to bring back the sense of trust and security within the marriage. 4. Loneliness/ Bitterness
In a marriage, loneliness happens when a person feels their partner doesn’t understand their needs and wants. A lack of attention increases the risk of mental health issues like anxiety and depression. This could be because a spouse is a workaholic and never at home, or it could be a more sinister deliberation, such as being ignored by a narcissist.
Feeling lonely in a marriage has consequences. For example, when a person is lonely, they are less likely to engage in healthy activities and behaviours, such as exercising and eating healthily. Loneliness affects sleep, increases stress, lowers self-esteem and causes a spiral of negative thinking. 5. Toxicity in the guise of love
Extreme events and circumstances do obvious damage to mental health, such as domestic violence, for example. But in a marriage, there are also lots of subtleties at play that can chip away at mental well-being.
FINAL NOTES
Every married couple strives to have a happy, healthy, and lasting marriage. But problems occur, and they can be pretty overwhelming and difficult to process. A bad marriage can indicate that the relationship has reached a point where everything seems hopeless and pointless.
However, if both partners are willing to put in the effort, there may still be hope for improvement. The result may depend on the specific issues present and the willingness of all parties to make the effort to change and fix any problems. Achieving perfection is not a feasible goal in relationships. Couples must be fully committed to improving their marriage and seeking marriage counseling.
Thank you.

It is the joy of everyone going into marriage, to enjoy happily ever after, knowing that their spouse will be with them through thick and thin, the assurance of having someone have your back no matter what can't be bought with money.
There are several attitudes one should deal with immediately, but I will be discussing on 6 of such and number 5 should not be overlooked in anyway.
If you don't clean the lens, you use to take the photograph of you and your life, you won't get a clear picture of you, and if such is taken to the marriage, you won't have a clear picture of your marriage which will led to continuous conflict. A good self image will give a good marital image. 2. NEGATIVE CRITICISM: Probably you are the type that likes giving their perspective about a matter, but you say 90% more negative views and fail to talk about the good aspect of a matter , it feels normal initially but when you are known by it, you have to learn how to CORRECT IN LOVE and CORRECT WITH LOVE.
Because if you don't work on it, your partner will feel they are not good enough for you, or you don't appreciate them their efforts concerning matters and this can lead to resentment. 3. HOLDING UNTO UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS: One thing you should know is that we are all human and no one is super human.
Setting expectations are great, but ensure they are realistic. This can lead to unfinished project. Let all goals be SMART. Having unrealistic expectations for your partner can lead to anger and depression 4. DEFENSIVENESS: It is defined as self-protection in the form of righteous indignation or innocent victimhood in an attempt to ward off a perceived attack, and this is really a way of blaming your partner.
Learn to take responsibility of your actions and know it is better to be at peace than to be right. 5. SILENT TREATMENT, WITHDRAWAL, AND DISTANCING: It is appropriate to know when silent is appropriate in an argument or conflict. Be the one who tries to resolves conflict and not one that keeps silent about conflict. If not properly checked, it can deteriorate.
The first stage is silent treatment, then withdrawal and finally distancing.
You have heard partners say things like, “we don't know how we cut off here, that we won't see ourselves for days and we are fine.”
When you see that silence is entering your relationship more that normal, ensure you ask questions so it doesn't progress . 6. NAGGING: No one loves to lives with someone that nags. And one way to know one nags is to continously complain and faults.
Nagging can ruin even the healthiest of relationship, so is of major priority to work on any nagging behaviour, instead of nagging, complement, applaud, praise and see your partner becoming better.
What other insignificant factors can destory a marriage?
“Hold on one sec. Let me send this text.”
How many times have we heard this from a significant other across the dinner table?
Mobile devices are one of the most popular forms of communication. Talking through cell phones and the internet can be good because they can help people have meaningful relationships with those who live far away.
However, research shows that cell phones interrupt face-to-face interactions (FTFI) in relationships and can make conversations less meaningful.
Technoference is a large problem with young adults who are dependent on their smartphones.
While technology can be helpful in relationships, this article will talk about two ways it can be harmful and how to avoid them.
PROBLEM 1
Relationship Conflicts
Phone conversations between partners affects FTFI and can lead to more relationship conflict.
Partners can feel stressed when their significant other chooses to focus on their cell phone instead of each other. This can result in the partner responding with harsh reactions, not feeling understood, or a feeling of distrust.
Partners with FTFI can have higher levels of happiness and satisfaction. This explains why an interruption can be harmful in the relationship.
Smartphone interference can cause problems or changes the attitude in the relationship.
Studies show the largest source of conflict is when couples’ happiness levels are less due to interrupted FTFI. Conflict in the relationship can be unhealthy, making conflict from cell phone usage potentially unhealthy.
SOLUTION
Healthy, open communication helps partners overcome conflict in relationships from cell phones. Research shows that when couples have open and available communication, they have less feelings of distress and more mental resilience.
PROBLEM 2
Alone Togetherness
“Alone togetherness” can make people unhappy in their relationships.
This term is used to describe times when people are in the same room, but they are distracted by their phones. However, there are different levels of alone togetherness . A mild example of alone togetherness is when someone finds his or her partner answering messages during a conversation. A moderate example would be if someone gets distracted once or multiple times because they are on a cell phone.
Being on a phone while talking to your partner can lead to unhappiness in the relationship. It can also lead to less meaningful conversations or being more connected with your cell phone than to your partner.
SOLUTION
Research shows that trust, intimacy, and confidence must be present in order to have meaningful times with romantic partners. To ease this situation and create a safe place for relationships, partners can set aside daily time to unplug and recharge the relationship. They can put their phones on airplane mode, turn them off, or leave them in another room for a time. To build trust, intimacy, and confidence, partners should put their partner first and put their phones down.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Mobile phones and relationship problems are not unrelated. Mobile phones ruining marriages are more common than we realize at times. We treat ourselves as an exception and let our vices get the best of us.
You must understand that your phone keeps you connected to work and distant friends and relatives— but can isolate you from the one you love most.
By learning to power down and tune in to your partner, you’ll experience a stronger, more lasting relationship.
Don’t let it become a cautionary tale about “how cellphone use can disconnect your relationship” and learn some restraint and enjoy the company of your loved ones.
Thank you
The Easter story is a representation of Jesus's love for the world as seen in the Holy Bible. Love that doesn't require man to do anything and love, man does not deserve any obligation. This is the reality of what Easter is all about.
What should we learn from the Easter story?
There is a lot to learn from the Easter story. What did you learn. You can share with us in the community.

The Christian community went into an outburst after Theophilius Sunday through his Instagram handle informed the general public of his intentions to get married. For many, it was beautiful and amazing, while for some, it was a moment of sober reflection of what marriage truly is.
I am here to share some thoughts in the light of which many people especially Nigerians thought at that moment,
A REMINDER!
Theophilius Sunday is getting married and I believe he has inspired you one way or the other.
What are you inspired to do?

Life is generally a place where unusual things happen to anyone and one of those tendencies is for a lady who was engaged to her man and after a while changed his mind over the eventual marriage with her. This could happen to anybody and we must understand what to do in such a situation.
I have heard stories of many ladies in this situation and they consider it a spiritual problem and many say it is the worst kind of heartbreak after you have had the ring on for a while and having your mind prepared for a wedding. What are the reasons for such to happen?
He probably got new information about you that he could not go ahead with.
He realized he was not ready for marriage and his friends forced him to do it.
You probably pressured him to do a proposal.
He realized a new behaviour about you that he is not ready to accept.
You stop pretending and showing what you are.
His mother or family does not want you because of where you are coming from.
Your genotype does not work together.
And many more.
Whatever reason this may happen, as a lady, you must first see the good side of the situation and begin an inner dialogue to recreate yourself before the situation defines your self worth. This is a general rule I believe one must deploy whenever they get disappointed. Going forward, accept this has happened and take out some time to grief, shed the emotions, the pain, the feelings, don’t hold back the natural reactions of your hearts toward such a situation. Listen to your pain, don’t blame them because that will take your eyes from the source. The source of your pain may not be the object of your disappointment but coming from the frustrations of what people may say, your reputations or your image before the eyes of the world.
Your pain is amplified when you have a wrong reason to feel pain. Pain with a wrong purpose will elongate the pain. Listen to your pain, identify the source and maintain your self worth.
After you are able to get yourself back, kindly pick the lessons from the situation. While you pick the lessons, here are some things you should know.
Lastly, when you decide to date a guy, you have opened yourself to a level of love and pain, when you decide to go into courtship with this person, you have further opened yourself to a level of love and pain, when you decide to say yes to a proposal of marriage, you have decided to further increase the level of love and pain. We must learn to accept pain when it comes because we made the choices earlier. The fact he did not get married to you after the proposal is painful but it is a strategic pain you should always anticipate. You don't put your money in the bank and believe nothing can happen to it.
A woman is a born female. She is beautiful and amazing. She brings unique and invaluable strength that contributes to the foundation of love, resilience, and connection.
We are celebrating women more than just romantic partnerships. They are an embodiment of partners, mothers, friends, and pillars of support.
We celebrate women in many dimensions but to mention a few;
1. Nurturers and Caregivers:
We celebrate women as they carry the mantle of nurturers and caregivers in relationships. Whether as mothers, partners, or friends, their innate ability to provide emotional support, compassion, and care forms the bedrock of strong and thriving connections.
2. Strength in Vulnerability:
We celebrate women for their strength. The strength of women lies not only in resilience but also in their ability to embrace vulnerability. In relationships, this authenticity fosters intimacy, trust, and a deep connection that transcends societal expectations, allowing for genuine and meaningful bonds to flourish.
3. Friendship and Companionship:
Beyond romantic partnerships, women play a vital role in friendships and companionships. Their loyalty, understanding, and ability to share life's joys and challenges make them essential companions, enriching the tapestry of relationships with genuine connection and camaraderie.
4. Communication and Connection:

The Journey of Love is always beautiful, it is usually a story of Resilience and Renewal just like that of the beautiful souls in love.
It is a world filled with uncertainty and chaos, these two souls embarked on a journey of love. Their path was not always smooth, but through the ups and downs, they discovered the transformative power of a relationship that perseveres.
In the beginning, they were like two puzzle pieces, searching for the perfect fit. As they came together, they realized that love alone was not enough to sustain their bond. They needed guidance, understanding, and a safe space to navigate the complexities of their emotions. That's when they found a haven where their love story could find solace and growth.
With dedication, they began to unravel the layers of their past, exploring the wounds and fears that had guarded their hearts. They learned to communicate openly and share things with each other.
Every mistake they make brought them closer after good communication, their love grew stronger every passing day. They realized that the true essence of love lay not only in loving each other but also embracing each other’s flaws.
Love, as beautiful as it may be, isn't always enough to live on till forever. When it comes to relationships, there's beauty in embracing each other's flaws. It's in those imperfections that we find the true essence of love and acceptance.
It's about cherishing the quirks, and the little imperfections that make us who we are. In a world that often seeks perfection, it's the ability to embrace and love each other unconditionally, flaws and all, that truly creates a bond that can withstand anything life throws our way.
It is another week to cherish those you love and especially your significant other.
I used to view him as an unwelcome intruder, disrupting the carefree days of the weekend. It would arrive with its familiar routine, demanding tasks, and responsibilities, leaving me longing for the freedom of the previous two days.
However, everything changed when I decided to embrace Monday as my best friend. I began to see Monday as an opportunity for a fresh start, a chance to set intentions and embark on new adventures. Just like a best friend, Monday would greet me with a gentle nudge, reminding me of the possibilities that lay ahead. It became a day of renewal, a blank canvas waiting to be painted with the vibrant colors of my dreams and aspirations.
Every Monday, I would wake up with a renewed sense of purpose. It became a ritual to reflect on the goals I wanted to achieve and the steps I could take to bring them to life. With Monday by my side, I discovered the power of setting realistic expectations and breaking down large tasks into manageable ones. Together, we would tackle challenges head-on, knowing that each step forward was a victory worth celebrating.
As my bond with Monday grew stronger, I found that it wasn't just about accomplishing tasks, but also about nurturing my well-being. Mondays became a day for self-care, where I would prioritize activities that brought me joy and rejuvenation. Whether it was indulging in a favorite hobby, going for a peaceful walk, or spending time with loved ones, I learned to infuse Mondays with moments of happiness and fulfillment.
Through my journey with Monday, I realized that the day itself was not the obstacle; it was my perception of it. By shifting my mindset and embracing Monday as a friend rather than a foe, I unlocked a world of possibilities and personal growth.
Mondays are often associated with challenges, but they also present opportunities for growth.

HOW TO NAVIGATE CONFLICT IN A RELATIONSHIP
Navigating conflict in a relationship can be challenging, but it's an important part of any healthy relationship and it is worthy of note that conflict is inavaidable in a relationship. Here are some specific tips to help you through conflict:
Use "I" statements instead of "you" statements. For example, instead of saying "you always make me feel bad", try saying "I feel bad when...". This helps to avoid putting blame on your partner and keeps the focus on your own feelings.
Accept when you are wrong and learn to apologise. It is not also weakness to apologise even when you are not wrong, it only shows you value that relationship more than your ego.
Avoid making assumptions. Instead of assuming you know what your partner is thinking or feeling, ask them directly.
Be honest and open about your feelings. It's important to communicate your needs and concerns in a respectful and clear way.
Listen to your partner's perspective. Try to understand where they're coming from and why they feel the way they do.
Try to find a solution that works for both of you. Avoid getting stuck in an "us vs. them" mentality. It's about finding a compromise, not "winning" the argument.
Be willing to forgive and move on. Holding onto resentment or grudges won't help the relationship.
It's important to remember that conflict is a normal part of any relationship. By learning to manage it effectively, you can strengthen your bond with your partner and build a healthy, lasting relationship. With time and practice, you can become a master of conflict resolution! And remember, it's not about being right, it's about finding a solution that works for both of you.

Responding to a low-EQ romantic partner
Thanks for reading The RED Digest! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
We don’t all grow emotional muscles at the same rate. If you’re ahead of the one you love, here are some high-EQ ways to respond to low-EQ behaviour and poor listeners.
Take time to consider the feelings as well as the words that you want your partner to hear. If you’re not clear about what you need and why you need it, your message may be mixed up.
Select a time when you and your partner are not rushed or hassled. Take a walk together or make a date for brunch or dinner, but watch the alcohol if you want them to remember the discussion.
Send “I feel” messages—about your needs—if you want your partner to hear that something is wrong with them. For example, “I feel like making love more often, but I have this thing about the odour of onions and garlic, so would you be willing to brush your teeth before coming to bed?
If your partner reacts defensively to the feeling you’ve expressed, repeat their concerns: “You’re afraid that if I take this job, you and the kids will be neglected.”
Repeat your “I feel” message, then listen again and keep up the process until you’re satisfied you’ve been heard.
In all, patience is key. Allow your partner time to grow into who you see them to be.

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the secret of lasting intimate relationships, largely because it makes us extremely aware of the changes—large and small—that are constantly occurring in ourselves and others. By building your EQ, you’ll have the sensitivity that each of us is always seeking in a significant other. You’ll automatically sense, through active awareness and empathy, the little shifts in the dynamics of your romance that signal a need for action.
We have the potential to attain the kind of love we all dream of—deep intimacy, mutual kindness, real commitment, soulful caring—simply because of empathy, our innate ability to share emotional experiences. But to reach the height of romance we need all the skills of a high EQ: sharp emotional awareness to avoid mistaking infatuation or lust for lasting love; acceptance to experience emotions that could harm a relationship if left to fester; and a vigilant active awareness to appraise us of what’s working and what isn’t.

We don’t have to choose the wrong lovers, end up in multiple failed marriages, or let the romance seep out of our long-term relationships. We don’t have to let conflicting needs and want to come between two people who love each other. We don’t have to resign ourselves to boredom or bickering in our love lives.
We have the potential to attain the kind of love we all dream of—deep intimacy and mutual kindness, real committed, soulful caring—simply because of empathy and our innate ability to share emotional experiences.
Fortunately, your EQ doesn’t need to have peaked before you embark on love. In fact, for many people, falling in love serves as motivation for reeducating the heart. That’s why some of the most deeply passionate lovers are in their eighties: They discover that two high EQs add up to a romance that never stops growing, never loses excitement, and always strengthens them both, individually as well as collectively.
This is how to build an emotionally intelligent relationship
1. Actively seek change in your relationship.
When you ride out your fear of change, you discover that different does not necessarily mean worse. Things often come out better than ever on the far side of change. Relationships are organisms themselves, and by nature, they must change. Any relationships not nudged toward the kind of growth you want will drift into change of another kind—maybe one you don’t want. Your ability to embrace change pays off in courage and optimism. Ask yourself, does your lover need something new from you? Do you need to schedule some time to reevaluate together? Are external influences demanding a change in your respective roles? Are you as happy as you used to be? Without EQ, such questions are often just too scary to face, so many lovers ignore signals of change until it’s too late.
2. View the challenges you encounter as opportunities rather than problems.
Your courage and optimism allow you to view dilemmas not as problems but as challenging opportunities. How creative can the two of you be? When you don’t need to blame each other for your emotions, you’re not controlled by negative emotional memories, and you’re alert not to repeat the same old mistake. When you have a high EQ, you’re liberated from ruts and resignation, and you can get down to resourceful problem solving. You can meet differences between you and unavoidable crises, as invitations to find each other, challenges to get closer and emerge individually and collectively stronger.
3. Respect all the feelings you have for each other.
We’re not always delighted by the discoveries we make about the person we love, but when it comes to emotions, it’s necessary to accept them all. Being in love doesn’t mean never feeling angry, disappointed, hurt, or jealous. How you act on your emotions is up to you; what’s important is that you actually feel them. Many relationships have been ruined by blame, and millions of couples have missed out on deep intimacy because of shame. Both are cruel remainders of unfelt anger, fear, and anxiety. If you’ve done the work of building EQ, you’ll experience the emotions and get on with your life together.
4. Keep the laughter in your love life.
To avoid intellectualizing emotions, you need acceptance, and a big part of your acceptance comes from laughter. Lovers who can’t laugh together about themselves probably aren’t very accepting of their relationships. They may not be able to tolerate its unique flaws and inevitable stumbles, any more than they can put up with their own.
They’re also less likely to be open to a relationship’s most pleasant surprises. Your high EQ, in contrast, means you can keep improving your relationship, but you’ll never get trapped by intolerant expectations of perfection.
5. Pay attention to how you feel when your lover is not around.
Fortunately, you have a flawless way of monitoring exactly how your relationship is going: Use the three gauges of well-being to figure out how the rest of your life is going. Are you feeling restless or irritable in general? Do you drag through your day at the office or school after a night of marital bliss? Do you resent family and friends even though the two of you are spending every available minute alone together? Love never benefits from tunnel vision. If you don’t feel energetic,clear-headedd, and benevolent all the time, it doesn’t really matter whether you coo like doves when you’re together. If the sex couldn’t be better but you’re slipping at work, if you feel safe and cozy hearing “Hi, honey” when you come home at night but are having trouble getting up in the morning, something’s not right—even though everything feels warm and fuzzy in the castle.
When this happens, all the information about you, your lover, and your relationship that your emotions and your intellect have gathered will steer you to the best solution.
Responding to a low-EQ romantic partner:
To be continued.

Appreciation involves recognizing and acknowledging the positive aspects of our lives, relationships, and experiences. When we appreciate the simple pleasures that surround us, such as a beautiful sunrise or a kind gesture from a loved one, we begin to notice the abundance in our lives. By embracing an attitude of appreciation, we learn to reframe difficulties as opportunities for growth and to find silver linings even in the darkest of times.
Practicing appreciation is a skill that can be cultivated through simple daily habits. Keeping a gratitude journal, expressing appreciation to others, or taking a moment to savor the little joys are all ways to nurture a grateful mindset.

The notion that love is blind has long been a popular belief. It suggests that when we fall in love, we become oblivious to flaws, imperfections, and external appearances.
But is there any truth to this idea? Love is a complex emotion that encompasses various aspects of human relationships. While physical attraction may play a role in initial connections, it is not the sole determinant of love. True love goes beyond superficialities and delves into the depths of emotional connection, understanding, and acceptance. It sees past external flaws and cherishes the inner essence of an individual. However, it is important to recognize that love is not entirely blind. While it may overlook certain aspects, it does not excuse harmful behavior or disregard personal boundaries. Love requires a balance between emotional connection and maintaining a healthy sense of self.
Ultimately, love is a dynamic interplay of emotions, understanding, and growth, where individuals navigate the complexities of relationships with open hearts and open eyes.

Acceptance is the act of acknowledging and embracing a situation, person, or experience without attempting to change it. It is a crucial aspect of personal growth, resilience, and mental well-being. Acceptance can help individuals let go of negative emotions and cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment.
Acceptance is not the same as resignation or giving up. Rather, it involves acknowledging the reality of a situation and choosing to respond to it in a constructive and positive way. It can be a difficult process, especially when dealing with challenging circumstances or difficult people, but it is an essential skill to develop in order to live a fulfilling life.
One of the key benefits of acceptance is that it frees individuals from the burden of constant struggle and resistance. When we accept things as they are, we can focus our energy on positive action and personal growth, rather than wasting time and effort trying to change things that are beyond our control.
Overall, acceptance is a powerful tool for personal growth and well-being. By cultivating acceptance, individuals can develop greater resilience, emotional intelligence, and inner peace, enabling them to navigate life's challenges with grace and equanimity.
Relationships are a fundamental aspect of human life, whether they are romantic, platonic, or familial. They are a source of comfort, companionship, and support and can greatly enrich our lives. However, relationships can also be challenging and require effort and communication to maintain.
One of the key ingredients for a healthy and fulfilling relationship is communication. It is important for individuals to express their thoughts, feelings, and needs openly and honestly and to actively listen to their partner's perspective. This can help build trust, intimacy, and understanding in the relationship.

Another important factor is mutual respect and support. It is essential for partners to value and support each other's goals and aspirations and to respect each other's boundaries and needs.
In addition, healthy relationships involve a balance of give and take. Each partner should be willing to compromise and make sacrifices for the benefit of the relationship while also maintaining their own individuality and autonomy.
Misunderstanding is a major part of a healthy relationship. However, how we handle this understanding will either Mar or make our relationship. After every successfully managed misunderstanding, our relationships become stronger and better.
Ultimately, relationships require effort, communication, and mutual respect in order to thrive. By prioritizing these elements, individuals can cultivate healthy and fulfilling relationships that bring joy and meaning to their lives.

Anger is a powerful emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. It is a natural human emotion that can arise in response to a perceived threat or injustice. However, when anger is not appropriately managed, it can become a destructive force that harms both the individual and those around them.
Anger can lead to aggression, which can cause physical harm, emotional pain, and social disruption. It can also lead to a host of health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and weakened immune systems.
Additionally, chronic anger can damage relationships, undermine careers, and negatively impact mental health. It can cause people to feel isolated and alone, leading to depression and anxiety.
It is important to learn how to manage anger effectively. This can involve techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. It is also crucial to identify and address the root causes of anger, such as unresolved trauma, stress, or poor communication skills.
In conclusion , anger is a natural human emotion that can become a debilitating disease if not properly managed. By learning how to recognize and manage anger effectively, individuals can maintain healthy relationships, enjoy good health, and live fulfilling lives.
Save your relationship today, deal with anger.
Giving is an act that expresses love, commitment and stewardship.
We often give gifts to re-confirm or establish our connection with others, which means that they're a reflection of both the giver and the receiver, as well as their unique relationship. Giving a gift to someone we care about allows us to communicate our feelings and appreciation for them.
Giving is essential in any relationship, be it in friendship or in a romantic relationship. Giving is the product and the evidence of love. If you cannot give, you do not love. Our time, attention, care, heart, and love should also be given out. Many people are stingy with all these things which are meant to serve as the ingredients in their relationship. Some are so stingy with their time that they might not be less busy to hear from their partners or see them for months. They hide under the excuses of work and their busy schedules.
On the other hand, it is also good to accept any nice offers given to you by your partner. Know that they are extending their generosity out of love. So, do not always reject any harmless offers by forming independence. No matter the size, quantity and the worth of what you were being given, always do well to accept them with sincerity and joy. Do not be proud to look down on anything.
There are situations, where we feel we have given our partner all they have asked but they seem not satisfied and are wearing you out.
Sometimes behind their physical requests they are hidden requests, they just can't vocalize.
A partner can ask for a date, but what they really want is quality time with you.
To optimally know how to maximize giving to your partner note the following:
You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving. The great acts of love are done by those who are habitually performing small acts of kindness.
Love is a set of emotions and behaviors characterized by intimacy, passion, and commitment. It involves care, closeness, protectiveness, attraction, affection, and trust.
Love can vary in intensity and can change over time. It is associated with a range of positive emotions, including happiness, excitement, life satisfaction, and euphoria, but it can also result in negative emotions such as jealousy and stress.
When it comes to love, some people would say it is one of the most important human emotions. Yet despite being one of the most studied behaviors, it is still the least understood. For example, researchers debate whether love is a biological or cultural phenomenon.
Love is most likely influenced by both biology and culture. Although hormones and biology are important, the way we express and experience love is also influenced by our personal conceptions of love. While people are bound to experience some negative emotions associated with love, it can become problematic if those negative feelings outweigh the positive or if they start to interfere with either person's ability to function normally. Relationship counseling can be helpful in situations where couples or singles need help coping with miscommunication, stress, or emotional issues.
So tell me, what is love to you?

"Prevents you from seizing opportunities"

Anger is like a cage, keeps you in and gradually destroys your relationship and invariably destroys you. Learn to deal with your Anger, talk if you must.
"Prevents you from focusing on yourself"
One of the greatest killer of any relationship and of course an individual is envy. You are not in any competition with anyone. Love, Live and Laugh.
"Prevents you from learning from others"
No one is an island, we all need each other. Are you teachable?
"Prevents you from believing yourself and taking risk to follow your dreams"
It is too risky not to take risk. Doubt is an enemy to progress, fight it.

Trust can be easily built but once broken, can take eternity to build again. Don't lie to someone who trust you and don't trust someone who lies to you. A saying I love so much goes thus ' hurt me with the truth but never comfort me with a lie'.
10 Pride
"Prevents you from seeing and learning from your mistakes"
Pride goes before a destruction and a boastful spirit before a fall. We all make mistakes, the best of us are those who learn from their mistakes and thrive not to repeat it. Don't let pride ruin your beautiful relationship. A little I am sorry can save the day.

In 1977, Klinger posted a question, “What makes life meaningful?” the answer, not surprisingly, was largely made up of relationships, 89% to be exact.
This means that human being has in its nature to be in a relationship.
Looking at the popular definition for relationship it is “ the way two or more people are connected, or the way they behave toward each other.”
Thanks for reading The RED Digest! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
Kelley et al., (1983) stated that relationships exist to the extent that two people put forth strong, frequent and diverse effects on one another over a prolonged period of time.
The level of their connection has a way to determine the way they express love, kindness, gratitude, anger e.t.c. to each other.
This connection can be natural e.g by birth or groomed i.e in a dating or marriage relationship.
Talking about the groomed relationship that may lead to dating or marriage, listed below are five basic relationship list
1. Open Effective Communication
Open communication is the foundation of any successful relationship .
As easy as it may sound, many don’t communicate effectively and this may be the reason why their relationship is sinking.
voicing your feelings, fears, expectations, and needs is vital. Even if you are in the middle of a conflict, communication comes in handy to resolve conflicts and strengthen your bond.
Note that, no one is a mind reader ,they cannot read your mind neither can you read theirs.
2. Trust In Each Other
To trust means to rely on another person because you feel safe with them and have confidence that they will not hurt or violate you. Trust strengthens the foundation of relationships because it allows you to be vulnerable and open up to the person without having to defensively protect yourself,” says Romanoff.
Having trust in a relationship signals longevity and permanence.
Trust can be built from effective communication with time.
3. Respecting Each Other
Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they’re different from you or you don’t agree with them.
Respect doesn’t have to come naturally — it is something you can learn.
No matter how cliché it sounds, disrespecting your partner can fade the love they have gor you. Love cannot be a justification for sacrificing your self-worth or disrespecting your partner. You need to respect the differences and not impose your likes or dislikes on the other. The best way to strengthen your bond is to celebrate and respect the differences.
3. Forgiveness
You might have a list of qualities you are looking for in your partner, but at the end of the day, to err is human and to forgive is divine. If a sincere heart makes an apology and works on doing things differently, learn to forgive and move on.
Research has even found that people who practice unconditional forgiveness are more likely to enjoy longer lives.
Forgiveness is such a key component to a healthy relationship, because, let’s face it, people are not perfect. No matter how close to complete a soulmate we find, every individual is incredibly different from the next.
4. Being A Team
John Maxwell once said, “The truth is that teamwork is at the heart of great achievement.
As much as you require personal space, staying strong together is vital too. A relationship requires you to wear different hats at various times. Sometimes you may have to listen to your partner patiently and offer support. At other times, you must offer unbiased, constructive criticism or a different perspective to help them make better, informed choices. Of course, there will be times when your partner will have to step into those roles for you as well. Your combined strengths compensate for each other’s weaknesses and help you work through challenging situations effectively.
There Is No “I” In “Team”
5. Spending Quality Time Together
Quality time refers to moments that hold much value spent in the company of the important people in our lives. In Gary Chapman’s five love languages, quality time is the language that revolves around togetherness. It is love and affection expressed through undivided attention.
How do two strangers become inseparable and end up totally in love? Well, it is all about spending quality time with each other and prioritizing your relationship. The time spent together helps to know your partner better.
Having these five list, pen them down, become them and see how your relationship will blossom.

So whenever I finish drinking tea, I don’t feel comfortable using same cup to drink water until I have probably rinsed it out or washed it. My wife on the other hand can use a cup she immediately finished drinking tea with to have some drinking water except she is having a sachet water then she drinks from the sachet directly.
Here is the irony, whenever we have tea, my wife takes out the cup to the kitchen and makes plans to wash them. On many occasions I have tried to discourage her and tell her that its a waste of strength and resources washing the cup since its just tea we had, that she can just rinse it out with water, according to me, the cup is not dirty but recall that I can’t use same cup to immediately drink water. Many times she will insist on washing the cup with soap, water and sponge because according to her, the cup is dirty since we have used it to drink tea. Also recall that she is very comfortable to use same cup to drink water immediately if she is drinking from a can 😉☺️.

Abeg, help me judge this matter so, I believe the cup is not dirty but I can’t use it to drink water, she believes the cup is dirty but can use it to drink water.
You see, this is an unspoken irony of life.
We are all different humans from different backgrounds and settings, we perceive and interpret things differently. That someone doesn’t share your view doesn’t mean they are necessarily wrong, it could mean that they are standing differently from you.
The way we see things is as a result of where we are standing or you could say the angle you are looking from and your convictions. The letter ‘6’ can be interpreted as the letter ‘9’ depending on where you are standing and the angle you are looking from.
That someone doesn’t share your view isn’t a reason for quarrels or gross misunderstanding. Try to adjust your lenses to know if you can see from their view but in doing this, great caution is advised because, you have to be sure that their view or perspective doesn’t contradict your belief and principles.
So here is my counsel, learn to accept people view even if its different from yours. But if you realise that their view contradicts your beliefs and principles, then you aren’t obligated to accept such view. What is his/her view about finances, abuse and violence, sex, etc.
Depending on the issue and circumstances, matters of belief and principles are a red flag in relationships (if you are single) but perhaps you are married and you find yourself in a situation where your partners view contradicts your belief, it is not enough reason to wonna quit or give up on that Marriage, you could prayerfully try to convince your partner to see light through your lenses or you could seek for help from professionals who have been gifted by God to help handle issues like this.
In all, do all it takes to savour every negative situation that may present itself in your relationship, you may not always agree or see things the same way but the variety of vision could be a blessing because it broadens your spectrum about life and makes you appreciate the differences in our individuality.
Ahh, I have deviated from my juicy story ohh, abeg who will judge this case between me and my wife?
Can you drink water with a cup you just had tea with?
Do you consider a cup you just had tea with dirty??
I must win this case ohh.
I am waiting for your response in the comment session.

Apologizing does not always mean you are wrong and the other person is right. It just means you VALUE your relationship more than your ego.
I know you know about the 5 love languages but do you also know that we have apology languages. Smiles, oh yes we do, wipe the shock from your face, I am here to give you an insight into this.
Thanks for reading The Red Digest! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
According to Gary Chapman, we have 5 Apology languages. Let’s X-ray them and learn from them.
1. Expressing Regret- “ I am sorry”
Example: I feel bad that I didn’t XYZ, I am sorry.”
It is about reaching deep and admitting to yourself that you hurt someone, that you owe them an apology and that you regret your actions. It’s expressed simply in the act of saying “ I’m sorry I hurt you” but its important to admit guilt and recognise the pain you caused the other person.
2. Accepting Responsibility- : “I was wrong.”
Example: “I am sorry for XYZ. I should not have done that, and there’s no excuse for it.”
Being able to hold yourself accountable for your behaviour when you are apologising takes a lot. You are not just conceding your were wrong, but you are also accepting responsibility for it- something not everyone is easily capable of doing. This apology language should be direct and to the point, without making any excuses for yourself, instead, you own it.
For some people, their ego or pride can get in the way of them offering this type of apology in a manner that is genuine says Donaldson
3. Making Restitution-“What can I do to make it right.”
Example: “ I am sorry for XYZ, what can I do to make it right or Here’s what I am going to do to make it right.
This is apologising through action in addition to verbalizing that you are sorry. Words simply aren’t enough, this apology language is about doing something to make it up to the person.
Tip: finding out your partner’s love language and then using that to “repay” them can help …smart right? I know.
4. Genuinely repenting- “I will try not to do that again.”
Example: I am really sorry for XYZ, it won’t happen again.
This language is not just about taking responsibility but also about the promise that you will do better in the future and that what you are apologising for will never happen again.
The key thing here is verbalizing your desire to change.
5. Requesting Forgiveness- “Will you please forgive me.”
Example: I am sorry for XYZ. I hope you will forgive me, but I understand you may need time to do that.
This isn’t just about the offended forgiving you but the offender seeks a response in affirmation of the apology offered…am I forgiven or not?
Now you know that there are different ways to apologise but what you may not know is that the way you respond to or accept an apology may not be the way your partner responds to or accept apology, so when you want to apologise to your partner, make sure to understand their apology language and apologise to them that way not in the way you accept apology. For instance, if your apology language is making Restitution and that of your partner is accepting Responsibility and you start doing things for your partner in the bid to buy their Forgiveness and you haven’t accepted responsibility, they will feel you haven’t apologised yet.
