Not Carol, instead she became a victor with a determination to succeed.
In her early sixties, Carol had the opportunity to recoup serious financial losses. Life gave her a second chance.
Carol wrote her memoir, Battered Hope, as a message of hope and never ever giving up. This pole-vaulted her career, despite the tough life experiences of being gang-raped and left for dead, losing a child, husband being falsely imprisoned, and a cancer diagnosis these could have driven Carol into victim mode, but she became a victor with a determination to succeed and she has.
During this podcast conversation Carol offers a lot of suggestions and advice for listeners certainly if they or others they know are suffering and ready to give up. Carol’s personal experiences are of enormous help.
Today in her seventies, Carol is living her dream as an author, an international speaker, and a talk show host of Never Ever Give Up Hope. As owner of two jewellery stores, three online stores, a health coaching business, writing for numerous publications, caring for her disabled husband and rescuing dogs (over 30 to date), Carol says her life is just beginning.
What’s her message?
Carol chose to start over and has helped many others be encouraged and challenged to never ever give up hope. She had and has much to offer and found a way to give it away. Today she continues that mission. To learn more go www.neverevergiveuphopenet.blogspot.com
Both host Diana Todd-Banks and guest Judythe cover some fascinating provocative topics about the current world climate and the Invisible Woman.
Invisible women can best be described as those women who have always been really self-sufficient, the person that nobody needs to worry about, so they don’t. But now you’ve turned 60 and have watched everyone else around you achieve amazing things, yet secretly you feel disappointed in yourself and your life. You find yourself out there, invisible, - but that’s changing - you’re ready to be visible.
Judythe knows, she was invisible once so was the host Diana.
A natural born mystic and a scholar in Afterlife studies, she is a professional Intuitive Medium and Therapist for over 4 decades offering workshops throughout Australia and now the World; as well today Judythe is a highly respected speaker, author, entrepreneur, coach, mentor and consultant on all things Life, Death, Dying and the Afterlife. Judythe focuses much of her professional attention on the Invisible Woman of that generation that lived for everyone else, but themselves. She says and asks, ‘Yet, only you can change being Invisible. You’ve been waiting for that magical journey to begin, the Journey of ‘Who am I?’ But how do you do that?’
As part of The Invisible Woman Generation herself, she is now teaching women around the world how to live an amazing life and be amazing, now they are free from the shackles of their upbringing. To connect with Judythe and learn more go here: www.invisiblewoman.com.au
Sara noticed many of her 50- and 60-something year old contemporaries were spending a large amount of time and money ensuring that their 80- and 90-something year old parents were cared for and having a good life. Then after a long phone call from a friend Sara turned to her husband and asked “who is going to do that for us? We don’t have kids!
That revelation led to her research on single and child-free couples and how they can best prepare for life as an elder. Discovering that almost 20% of baby boomer women never had children, Sara knew this was an area that needed addressing. She also recognised people today don’t want to face 20-30 years of doing nothing.
Sara’s earlier career formed a strong knowledge base when she focused on the challenges of the retirement transition, having had a 25-year career in leadership and organizational development. Many of her boomer era executive coaching clients became more interested in talking about their retirement plans than their strategic plans! They needed guidance in how to prepare for “life-after-work”, a term she prefers to use rather than retirement. Since then (2013) she has devoted her life to writing about and finding unique ways for Solo Agers to thrive and be safe and secure in their later years.

As the Relationship & Sensuality Sage, mother of 3, Foxxy worked as a professional exotic dancer for 17 years, gamely sticking with it until the age of 51, before quitting to pursue her new venture.
She saw many women who were curious about their sensuality and have greater confidence in themselves, have a desire to have a voice. From this, she felt the calling to take her life experience and background of struggle overcoming abuse as a child, extreme shyness, a very strict religious up-bringing, and feeling guilt and shame over her controversial job, to help others.
Foxxy understood from a young age, that movement is the quickest and most effective way to tap into your body’s wisdom and stay young. She realised by not processing and integrating unfelt (hurts and traumas) emotions mean they stay in your body and show up as aches, pain and dis-ease. She found the book, ‘The Secret Language of Your Body’ by Inna Segal to be a great resource on her healing journey.
Foxxy took her extensive research and study into personal development, spirituality, energy-work and how the mind works into creating her uniquely developed ‘Senserotic’ therapy.
She loves to create playful, experiential and powerfully transformational experiences, helping women to break the cycle of being shut-down, repressed and conditioned, so they give themselves total permission to reclaim their true essence and quickly create the life and relationships they deserve.
Known for her signature program – The 9 Archetypes (Expressions) To Unmask Your True Essence Foxxy also facilitates online personal sessions, courses and runs live workshops and retreats.

That one action we all need to take is to ... PAUSE!
THIS PODCAST TOPIC IS POWERFUL & IMPORTANT with profound information from which we can all benefit, given the current world chaos.
We are being asked to stop and pause and while that action will look different to each of us, as with any piece of chaos, we have an opportunity as to how we to respond to it from fear, or from love? Selina is a teacher of practical spirituality and says clearly a pause is what our world needs. How will you take the advice our planet is being granted? Where do you need to pause in your life? Think about that.
Host Diana, says there are many who are not tuned into practical spirituality but who at this time are eager to do something, to take some action, but what, and asks what could they do to try and respond, even through love? We are creative and productive and have come from the perspective of striving to be independent rather than what is needed now - we need to work from the greater collective – that’s interdependence. We need to think differently, act differently but act consciously, and doing so that can open up many opportunities.
In this podcast Selina Maitreya poses numerous profound questions and all are worth you answering them in your quiet time. Contact Selina via her website: www.practicalspiritualitywithselina.com

Cathy said after retiring and somewhat spontaneously the couple showed a brilliant example of taking the bull by the horns purchasing some land with a house on it in rural northeast Georgia in the southeastern United States with the intention to grow their own food. But there was a catch! Neither had any farming experience, which meant there was a lot to learn. What they did in their first year set the basis for deciding to focus on rare heritage livestock breeds. Cathy chose two breeds well adapted to the southern US climate - American Guinea Hogs and Gulf Coast Native sheep. As well they raised two American breeds of meat rabbits and sold meat, wool, and breeding stock.
For Cathy, history and related stories are a favourite topic of hers, which is why she wanted to learn more about Guinea Hogs. She explored several websites that referenced The Livestock Conservancy, a group, that tracks 180 endangered livestock breeds in the United States. The Conservancy had published a two-page breed profile. Cathy wanted more than that she became so fascinated with the breed Cathy says she wanted to read a whole book about Guinea Hogs. There wasn’t one so she decided that if she wanted to read that book, she had better write it first! As with so much in life today, there is so much history that’s lost when an ‘old timer’ passes on particularly in rural areas. This thought taught her a lesson that is necessary at times so Cathy began interviewing old-timers who remembered the hogs before they almost became extinct around 1995. That led her on a twisting winding journey, which resulted in her first book being published in March of 2019 Saving the Guinea Hogs.
Cathy now promotes Guinea Hogs and other heritage livestock, writes about them, and educates the public on the importance of biodiversity in farming to protect our food systems.

Selina Maitreya’s recovery was miraculous but her earlier life of deep spiritual connection enabled that to occur. A powerful true-life story, it is longer than the usual MPT podcasts but is worth every second of your attention.
Selina recounts her life at 58 prior to July 2013 and says after selling her home she was looking forward to the next phase of her life. The details she mentions are important. Two days before closing on her house she was driving to clean the house when a woman driving a van at 70 miles an hour ran a red light and plowed into the drivers car door, Selina’s side. After the jaws-of-life freed Selina from her car, her life took a big turn. No one was able to tell her when or how her recovery would progress except one medical doctor did say it will, ... ‘take a tincture of time’! That was the start of the most amazing 6 year odyssey. Unable to perform even the smallest tasks, Selina needed to surrendered to ‘her state’, and learned how to use that and this difficulty as a tool to go to peace.’
Today having made a complete recovery, Selina shares this: ‘How to transform any daily difficulty, even tragedy, into peace. It’s a direct result of the last 6 years of learning how to respond to great difficulty from the grace we all have access to. Most over 50s, 60’s plus have or may have had physical and situational life delays and interruptions. In this podcast you’ll hear Selina describe difficulties or strong emotions as ‘alarm clocks’ and how to deal with them. John has had a fascinating career, as a volunteer teaching in Tonga, 19 years training and working as a Catholic priest, psychodrama training and work in a drug and alcohol treatment hospital all of which lay the foundation for him to become a compassionate emotional intelligence expert once he hit 50. Getting married when nearly 40 added the icing to the cake of really learning about intimacy and relationships.
Not long after his 50th birthday John decided to rebrand his training business to focus on this one topic – managing emotions. He’d been looking for a niche business idea to give him focus and one day woke up to the fact that his topic had been right in front of his nose for years.
Thriving Under Fire (TUF) was launched as a face-to-face workshop; he wrote a book (2009) and developed an interactive online training version (2013). Having taught thousands of people in many parts of the world including Bangladesh, Malaysia, Tonga, Samoa and of course New Zealand he found he loved this work because it makes such a difference to people’s lives which he knows will lead to a greater world peace.
The best tip when dealing with an emotional person is to first calm yourself down, don’t get involved with the other persons emotions, breathe deeply; name your feelings (to yourself); ask yourself a complex question, such as, what else might be going on in this person life? Then genuinely acknowledge the other person’s feelings. This is very simple to do and during this podcast John provides examples of what he means and how to do that in a meaningful lasting way.
John offers a free weekly blog, short posts with tips on managing emotions, and for Mature Preneurs Talk listeners there’s a free eBook you can download: The Power Apology at www.tuf.co.nz/mature

Michael said he arrived in USA in 1979 at 19 from USSR, graduated the University of Pittsburgh as a construction engineer, found a job in San Francisco then that’s where the mundane part of his life ended. Having always been fascinated by the spiritual after brief stints with Judaism, several brands of Christianity and Buddhism, he started in Scientology, first on staff in San Francisco then joined the Sea Organization, the para-military, elite management corps of the Church. Quickly advancing up the ranks, he became in charge of the worldwide Church translations network, at a secret desert Church headquarters, the infamous, International Base, his home until his dramatic escape in 2005.
Do listen to this Podcast, to hear Michael’s description about his escape in jail uniform and what he does next, it’s hilarious. Ultimately back into a more normal life and using his construction skills, he worked as an estimator and project manager at first and then trained as a property and casualty insurance adjuster and have been doing that as an Independent adjuster ever since, as his business. The main perk in having a business Michael says is flexible scheduling, which allows him to concentrate on his research and writing. Having a side business is a good approach for others too. Having studied and applied 28 different religions and using Scientology as a springboard, of which he says he’s an expert, Michael developed some incredible extra-sensory abilities and laid the basis for his own psychic healing methodology. Psychic healing of anybody, whether he knows a person or not, nor knows their location, serves as side business for Michael and despite not charging clients, it’s the most important facet of his life. Linda has been through several different life transitions and triumphed, which is why this podcast is full of practical tips.
Losing her husband, becoming a single parent to her granddaughter, suffering depression and PTSD took several years to heal. One of the biggest challenges was realizing how little you could control in life. Through daily meditation and a routine she learned to control that overwhelmed feeling.
The universe loves to send wake up calls and that message came through loud and clear - Linda realized she had no income, was about to lose her home and had her 5 year old granddaughter to raise. She ‘woke’ up, asked for help got a job, moved to a different state and started her new chapter. These types of challenges are difficult but by taking any tough situation and breaking it into manageable steps, you can find the steps to move forward. Over the next 10 years, Linda made more moves and career shifts, started a brand new career at 61 but was laid off at 63. This time she made a list of her skills, trainings and knowledge and knew she could transfer them into an online business. But something still felt off that.
Realizing she had lost touch with herself, she had to do something out of the norm. Selling everything Linda went on an adventure to Portugal where she reconnected to her purpose, created a framework with tools she developed from her years of working in the public and private sectors guiding working moms and corporate women who are ready to create their own life, reconnect with their spiritual self and find their purpose so they can create more time, income, and more impact while living life on their terms at any age. KAYS asks all her clients to address this question: ‘What will you do if you lose all your assets tomorrow?’ Clearly the question must be asked what caused Kay to come to these conclusions and her answer is fascinating and a wonderful story of adventure.
Originally from Leeds, Yorkshire, the UK in her early 20’s she jumped on board a private yacht leaving Hull marina for sunnier shores in Spain. She refused to swim back. Kay set up her own business looking after second homes for the rich and famous, became an eco landlady and mother to two boys. The family shared their three-acre organic farm with holidaymakers, workshop and retreat attendants.
Leaving her 30-year dream life on the island of Mallorca, Kay and her husband decided than rather having an empty nest they preferred 'no nest.’ Leaving their two grown boys to fend for themselves. They de-cluttered and downsized their lifestyle to a two-roomed, tin roof house near to a pristine beach in Zanzibar.
Years passed and still more stories, Kay became an award-winning International speaker, enthusiastic author and Midlife Strategist, whose hundreds of clients love her straight talking and no-nonsense practical holistic help in dealing with wealth at midlife. Today with the majority of her business on-line Kay has combined work with her love of travelling, but now lives a simple life back near a beach in Mallorca and has never been happier. One of Kay’s secrets is not being afraid to do something new. Gabriela Masala found by integrating multiple modalities into her facilitation practice to help people “heal”, she soon realized the greatest service she could give was to point people back to their own innate genius, intuition, wholeness and sovereignty. Serving individuals and communities world wide through intuitive, energy medicine and expressive arts based consultations, events and retreats, she began to focus on building a relationship to the aspect of our human being that is already “healed”- already whole, infinite and divine. By doing so she stopped using the word “healing,” but began supporting others to live with this unlimited part of their nature as guide – that changed her life and those of her clients.
At the end of inspiring events and retreats, she would often hear people say, “It is back to the real world.” She felt so clearly, we have this all wrong. The peak experience of meditations and retreats: feeling regenerated, creatively fulfilled, connected, and empowered, unlimited should not be the exception in a life, It can be the norm! This inspired the creation of the interactive journal, and process, Everyday Magnificent. The book is a guide to a lifestyle practice that integrates these peak states into the “real world” of daily life. As we practice living in gratitude, cultivating whole brain and heart coherence, and allowing the creative force of life to flow through us, we are able to reframe and rewire our inner and outer world. We begin creating a magnificent life by our own design.

Ani, said the solution was and is in the same place. Today she is the author of ‘Find Your Soul’s Agenda,’ and says her book is almost a story about her journey, one that others also experience. After a very public divorce, she felt completely lost and none of her therapist friends seemed to be able to help her. Her identity as a wife, mother and business owner had been crushed and she needed to rebuild. At first she had no idea how. After taking 3 purpose courses, Ani finally found her purpose in an unlikely place – listen where.
Often we find ourselves feeling like something is wrong with our lives, when in fact, it’s perfect and always has been. In Ani’s book she describes when we understand life will both show up for us in ways we love and in ways we don’t love (but happen anyway), predictably we will be better able to navigate the challenges that will inevitably present themselves as we continue to grow and evolve.
Ani has seen people dramatically change their money, business, health and family situations on a dime once they realize that what they are looking for exists right in front of them already. If you feel like you’re looking for something, Ani suggests you open your mind to your Soul’s Agenda to realize that the treasures you seek are always right under your nose. This is a powerful and informative podcast do listen. To learn more and to see what Ani offers go to her website: AniAnderson.com
BILL said her sage wisdom was that if you’re creating value for others, they will add value to you. This lead Bill to adopt a life philosophy and build a business based on this principle and which he has ultimately proven many times.
Of course there is more to this little story. And you can hear it all on this fun podcast I had with Bill.
After working for others — including international clients — he took his years of experience and began to work for his own clients. “Self-employment” he likes to say, “is an oxymoron. I can’t afford myself so I must get clients to live the lifestyle of my choice!” A good sense of humour is characteristic of Bill. As is a lot of common sense and practical wisdom gleaned from experiences over the course of his sixty plus years on the planet.
Today, he helps coaches, consultants and other advisors to ‘get more clients and earn more money’. He’s developed two online services — The Client Machine® and The Expert Directory™ that support his clients in realizing this goal.
Bill is a certified coach and created a unique program: “How To Get More (and, Better!) Clients, ... without losing your soul in the process”**. It’s designed for people who seek to convert their competence into compensation.
An ardent supporter of Maturepreneurs, he’s offering you my listeners, the first Module of this program — without charge or obligation — to see if you like it. If you do, he’s arranged for you to enjoy a 50% reduction in the fee Bill normally charges to take this program. Neville says the question: ‘What can I do for the rest of my life,’ is a question he toyed with long ago, and knows that the dilemma is a common feeling for many midlifers. Having helped hundreds of businesses he knows if a person is good at something they can build a business and have a life too. The big starting tip is to list your skills, what you’re passionate about and somewhere in those two lists there’ll be a sweet spot. Next step is to find a market where people will pay you.
All that sounds very easy, but listen to this podcast and you’ll hear Neville discuss the 6 questions for which you need to find answers, as well he suggests be sure to do something valuable and to also feel valued.
Growing up in South Africa Neville trained as a software developer in the good old days when computers still had floppy drives. He spent time travelling running businesses for others, then, back in Canada he started consulting on his own and came to realise how difficult it still is to build a business. There’s lots of hype around but building a business it’s still too difficult and too many entrepreneurs struggle, often giving up their lives in the process. Helping entrepreneurs build a better business faster, Neville found that led to the development of the Tornado Method - a framework for building and growing a business, and uses that Method now as the central framework around which he builds more guides and courses to help entrepreneurs get more successful faster - and still have a life. Learn more about Neville and his ‘Tornado Method’ at his website britewrx.com where you can get a free download ‘Beginner’s Guide to the Tornado Method ‘.
Brian said he was uninspired and lacked motivation within his full-time job at a sporting goods store, and recalled a side business that his father worked years ago cleaning parking lots and decided to turn that idea into his side-hustle. After two months Brian was bringing in enough income with Cleanlots to leave his full-time job behind.
Brian tells the story of how he began, "My prospects were slim as all I had was a high school diploma and a small savings account. But what I had was the motivation to change my life for the better and a willingness to work for myself." Entrepreneur magazine says parking lot litter cleanup is “a simple, inexpensive and potentially lucrative business to get into, and the market is growing”.
Brian’s $200 investment has grown into a $650,000+ per year business, although that took a few decades. Brian never dreamt he could turn a litter cleanup business into such an enjoyable lifestyle, but he did, and has perfected the operation down to a science. In fact, later in his career he even wrote a book about how other entrepreneurs can follow in his footsteps and that book is available on Amazon and is called ‘CleanLots America’s Simplest Business.’
Suzie says Often when we reach the later stages of our lives, we hear the clock of our own mortality ticking and we wonder if it’s too late to create something new and better for ourselves. The question is why wait. Ask yourself if the old, familiar excuse, “it’s too late” is a way you keep yourself from pursuing your dreams rather than an actual limitation. Do you have a lifelong pattern of getting in your own way? Do you dream of having a new career now that the kids are launched, something you can reasonably do for the rest of your life? Be serious about that question for yourself, because its never too late to begin exploring what’s in the way of you creating more fulfilment, connection and joy for yourself. Using the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), I help people explore those old limiting patterns so that they experience more joy, better relationships and greater fulfilment. NARM helps us truly realize that we are not stuck. When we do our own inner work, we change our relationship to the past and put the past in its place. To learn more go to: suzie.gruber.com Our society needs maturepreneurs now more than ever to help bring more connection, caring and stability to our families and communities. You can be part of the solution.
Chris and Susan’s plans for their 50’s and beyond, took advantage of the property boom which ultimately became a millstone around their necks rather than the generous pension it was meant to be. As self employed Accountants and Management Consultants in their fifties they worked 6 - 7 days a week, 10 - 12 hours a day, had a good income but no time ... no time for to do the things they wanted to do in life, a familiar cry of many in the traditional work force.
Only two option appeared to exist, continue working for the rest of their lives under conditions they no longer wanted to tolerate, or live hand to mouth on a tiny pension, not a choice thought. They didn’t fancy either option...Chris and Susan felt they had to find a way out, another approach - a goal of many others in this position. Researching the Internet the couple discovered they could leverage their skills and build a business online. How did they decide on that? Analysing the skills they possessed they also looked at what they really enjoyed doing.

Elizabeth had spent over twenty-five years in the international pharmaceutical industry helping companies make their drugs safely and built up a ‘store’ of anecdotes she intended to publish “one of these days.” Then a major health scare reminded her if she left it too late, she may never reach, “one of these days,” and so began writing creative non-fiction putting real situations and locations into fictional settings, which worked.
The millions of words written during Elizabeth’s first career were always true but now telling ‘lies’ for a living requires a different style of writing. Elizabeth had to learn to be opinionated and inventive. Her early heroines had no fun and did nothing wrong; she was too scared people would think it was autobiographical! Returning to campus for her MA after thirty-three years was nerve-wracking spending the weeks leading up to the start of term worrying about what she should wear. Even though Elizabeth was used to speaking to audiences of tens if not hundreds, in her first seminar this coy writer kept her head down, whispering ‘don’t pick me,’ every time the tutor asked someone a question. Having now developed her second career alongside the independent publishing industry this authorpreneur is much happier. She’s watched the independent publishing business move from being the route of last resort for authors unable to get a traditional publishing deal, to a legitimate option for people who prefer full control over their businesses.

Listen how Suzie Gruber’s life took a circuitous route to be where she is today, helping you to improve your life and really come alive. She says many have an innate drive towards connection, aliveness, and success, an urge that gives you the courage to change, regardless of what you face along the way. But those desires may be submerged until Suzie starts working with a client.
It seems more and more people working in jobs feel their heart isn’t in the work, they get uneasy, unhappy, but don't’ do anything about that, yet they can, you just need to begin listening to your heart. Suzie did that. Despite working in the biotechnology industry, Suzie found her heart wasn’t in it, and said she had to honour her own ‘primal urge’ to do what she loves, helping others come alive and she’s doing that. After learning about the instabilities in our world, Suzie knew she had to listen to her own deeper voice and respond to those challenges by helping people heal, firstly by rebuilding her professional life in a different direction, getting a degree in Psychology and then training in the Neuro Affective Relational ModelTM(NARM), which she offers today because NARM changed her life. She went from feeling constantly anxious to experiencing each day with greater aliveness, ease and success while enjoying more satisfying relationships.
Any life changes do have hurdles to overcome and for Suzie now it’s learning to market her work. As a scientist, she wants to tell everyone how what she offers works inside us. The truth is no one cares. People just want results. Suzie enjoys telling her story so she can inspire you to follow your heart. You can change. It’s not too late. Searching ardently for his next career yet nothing happened, Mark said two years later it dawned on him why he wasn’t landing a job, he realized, he’d been lying to himself about what he wanted to do with his next career, his inner self was no longer willing to put up with his lies.
What Mark did next is a lesson for anyone in a similar position. Spend a week in solitude to clear your head and figure out your next move. Mark went to the beautiful hills of Galena, Illinois and came home with a determination to strike out on his own and find a way to combine his passion for gardening with his love of entertaining and starting a business, Green Thumb at Your Service. Becoming a garden coach, working one-on-one with people to show them how to grow more and better vegetables, he also teaches classes and recently wrote his first book – Gardening with Confidence – Tips and Tactics for a Greener Thumb. In 2010, Noreen Braman, who had already reinvented herself in 1997 after a contentious divorce, was reeling from a corporate downsizing, dealing with economic recession of historic proportions and facing her own midlife issues. Soon her skills as a strategic communications professional, humourist and performer sent her in a new direction.
By the end of that year, she became a certified Laughter Yoga Leader, had her mind blown at a conference called “Can Humour Save the World” and studied the Psychology of Laughter at Rutgers University. Taking her message about laughter to the world on a full time basis Noreen again “reinvented” herself. Dr Paul McGhee’s book “Humour as a Survival Tool “ helped her understand the importance of humour and laughter to all humans. With the physical and emotional health benefits that come with humour, laughter and mindfulness, Noreen deals with her fibromyalgia and thyroid disease with humour, reminding us all that yesterday’s problem can be today’s funny story.
Recently, she has started helping others with a workshop self-discovery through developing a vision, mission statement, and strategic plan for ones’ own life. Pat Porrey and her sister Pam did that and have made a huge difference in the lives of new Mums and their newborn babies coming home from hospital. On reflection it was a huge difference after spending 30 years at a great job with a major corporation, but Pat decided she needed to try something new.
Despite having great job, a safe pension and a great predictable life she knew there was more to life for her but what? She was told to create multiple streams of income and was doing that, then 2008-2009 hit. Nothing prepared her for that perfect storm of the financial, real estate and business world collapsing ... her world. Many wondered what next? Some wallowed in their woes while others were proactive like Pat and her sister Pam who created a much-needed new business - Sweet Dreams Infant Care - see their .com website in the same name. Pam, an RN, saw staff reductions and shorter hospital stays causing many new moms to not get the training or assistance they needed before leaving hospital with their newborn(s). Pam went home with the mums to help educate, support the parents, build their confidence and help them get the rest they needed.
The two sisters created a Baby Nurse agency and along with ‘Sweet Dreams’ it just took five years to hit their first million-dollar year. Five years later they completed their dream of writing a book, due out in May, titled Raising Confident Parents - go to their .com website now to download the book.
Listen to Pat provide some wise advice about what to do next in your life – she didn’t start the business until her mid 50’s and now she feels younger, more vibrant and says everyone needs to have a purpose in life.
Kelly said writing a book had been on her bucket list since she was 22, but she says it’s a ton of work!
And it wasn’t surprising she spent the next 8-10 years finding excuses as family and business excuses kept her from writing her ‘special and unique’ book.
Years later her excuses dissipated and the opportunity to finish her book came to be. Kelly’s book can best be described as biblical, historical, a thriller, fiction, a novel, encompassing the super natural called, ‘Over My Dead Body: A Super Natural Novel’. Little wonder it took so long to finish however what Kelly has achieved is proof that if you have a strong desire to do something it’s never to late to start. Going beyond that in two years she has brought four new products to market including an eBook, paperback, hardback, and audiobook all on ‘Over My Dead Body’. Now in her 50's, Kelly says calls herself a novelist. It's been a wild ride, but it's not over yet, as a biblical concepts companion guide for the novel is due out in May 2019; and later a screenplay plus a second novel in the series. Thrilled her book has achieved great success hitting #1 bestseller in Biblical Fiction in three categories on Amazon, her children’s book has hit #1 in 2 categories on Amazon.
Lana Nelson’s life traumas ultimately became gifts even despite being injured in a nasty car accident causing years of chronic pain. She knew she would be the sole financial supporter of her young children. Having previous experience in the field she started her own dental lab business and 4 years later bought a home, a new van and able took her children on vacation. Plus she had become a noted expert in the cutting-edge field of dental implants.
But after 5 years of continued headaches and pain she saw a Chiropractor and continued trying new things - juicing, massage and yoga, all considered “weird” at the time. She kept thinking and saying, “I should marry a Chiropractor. I’m seeing one 3 times a week!” Yes “The universe was listening.” Lana met her future husband on a blind date. He specialized in treating pain and with his treatments Lana was pain-free in 2 weeks! He healed her body and her heart. They married and combined two families and were called “The Brady Bunch times two!”
Over the next several years Lana created a Food program that helped her husbands chronically ill patients heal with food, and also opened a health food store. Sadly her husband had a massive brain aneurysm, which changed their lives forever. Miraculously he survived and Lana became his caretaker and financial supporter. Over the last 4 years Lana has found her grit and experiences from her 30’s have kept her going. Having written and published a book, Lana teaches anyone how to eat what their body really wants and needs; as well, she teaches her method to clients from 6 of the 7 continents worldwide. Else Didn’t fully realise it at the time, but what she read she came to learn was a totally and completely unique perspective on a topic which has plagued even the most powerful minds since early last century even before that. What was more puzzling was the author was born into a poor family in Denmark, had a very limited education yet he had a profound experience, that he later described as a Cosmic Consciousness and this became the inspiration to write prolifically until his passing, years later in 1981. His prolific works have been called ‘The Third Testament’ and have been translated into 20 languages.
Since Else is Danish she felt compelled to write explanatory versions of Martinus’ work and to date has written 7 short books. In a previous interview on Mature Preneurs Talk Else said ‘Once you see the bigger picture, your whole outlook on life will change and you will become a much happier person when you realise that ‘Death Is An Illusion,’ the title of Else’s first book, based on the work of Martinus. Her next book: Reincarnation in a ‘Nutshell – Why Reincarnation Is Real,’ has received raving reviews on Amazon.
Else suggests people who are ‘spiritually bankrupt’ can certainly benefit from reading her books about Martinus, and his books too. his literary works may well challenge many while others will find it makes total sense. The work of Martinus is for the person with a large spiritual hunger and Else’s website newspiritualscience.com will provide answers to life’s big questions. If you ever wanted to gain a deep understanding of what lies within you, her website will go along way to answering your questions. Else suggests after reading Martinus’ work you will never look at the world in the same way again.
Some years ago, partners Maree Malouf and Jeff were enjoying a good lifestyle in their respective roles, but in the back of Jeff’s mind something was missing … though he never had a clue as to what.
Unexpectedly Jeff and Maree were invited to be involved in an organisation that had, at its core, the i-Ching. As a trained psychologist and NLP Master he was intrigued. Never did they, for a second, imagine what was to follow. On a whim, they found themselves in Bali, studying under an amazing coach and mentor and quickly became immersed in a world of which they previously had no knowledge. The learning curve was steep, but rewarding. A few years later, after going through their savings, the couple look back and realise the fantastic journey they had been on, and are still on today. Jeff said they added to the base they learned, and now have embarked on what they describe as their “dream job” … together, coaching and teaching people in all walks of life (and ages), and deliver presentations, writing a lot … while their book is in its own “incubation”.
With wisdom Jeff and Maree said what that they thought was important … and the trappings of success they lost … but in reality, they have gained things money can’t buy - new knowledge, skills, and endless growth potential, much of that, you can hear throughout this podcast. Importantly now they have friendships and connections that would never been accessible to them in their “previous world”. Was there life before 50 yes, but as they move into their 60’s, they experience new people, places and things. Jeff profoundly asks what lies ahead for them …then quickly replies certainly not retirement … that concept has no meaning for them. For more go here: website address is relationshipdynamics.global

Anthony Hamilton at the age of ten had a dream, which affected him so much he spent over twenty years investigating how it could have happened. Over time, as various parts of the dream came true, Anthony developed a new model of the mind to explain and understand this dream. In 1980, he realized that the mind works as a time machine and began speaking and coaching others in using this new model of consciousness.
His discovery, which has recently been proven by science, will prove to be as earth shaking if not more so than the discovery that the earth goes around the sun. During this podcast Anthony offers several excellent suggestions including one for those who want to change their feelings about the past.
We are so used to thinking that our present life is due to the events of our past, it seems laughable to suggest anything else. Yet it’s clear, different people experience different effects from similar events, so something else it at play. That ‘something else’ is the way we perceive the past event. Our attitude which influences the way any event will affect us, can be changed at any time, changing the effect of any past event at any time. This means the past is malleable. It can be changed; and we have the power to change it. The past has not gone anywhere. It is not finished. It is still available to us and we can influence its contents. Using our mind as a time machine allows us to revisit and change any aspect of our personal past. It is also the key to turning our dreams and goals into our actual, physical reality. Stephen said that’s exactly what happened and explains how writing charted his life on a new course, an amazingly incredible journey. Since his computer work world afforded him the opportunity to travel as he began semi-retirement, he decided to write a book on his extensive worldwide travels. His ‘tome’ wasn’t published but the path took him down a road where he would self-publish three fictional novels – two aimed at the female reading audience. That’s often how life happens you have a goal, work towards it yet you veer of course onto a new amazing one.
Living in Las Vegas, the marriage capital of the world, Stephen’s first published novel was titled ‘The Chapel of Eternal Love – Wedding Stories from Las Vegas’. The second novel revisits all the couples from the first novel five years later. For his third novel, Stephen attempted something different - a murder mystery, ‘Murder Aboard the Queen Elizabeth II’ released in 2017. Learn more at Stephen’s website: authorstephenmurray.com

Dubbed the ‘Indiana Jones in High Heels’ Patty Civalleri journeyed with some of the best historical, archaeological, and scientific minds in the world. During 17 years on the Director’s Council of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA, as writer/photographer Patty travelled to extraordinary places including the newly discovered Mayan caves in Belize. In 2013 Patty got a 1-month photo assignment to these Mayan caves - a wonderful experience, but listen to this podcast and you’ll glimpse how hard it was. Nothing glamorous. On her return to Long Beach, California, Patty says ‘she was kind of… messed up in the head. That trip was so excruciatingly difficult on me when I got back home, I couldn’t find my feet, my center.”
Not knowing what to do she decided “I just needed to get away with my camera and walk unknown streets and shoot to my heart’s desire without an assignment to drive me.” Which she did! Returning home, Patty began a project to create a ‘ShutterFly’ photo book. Starting to review the nearly 5,000 photos she shot while in Florence, her ‘inner historian’ kicked in and began asking questions sending her online to find answers. Listen to hear Patty describe what she did for 8 months to get answers and the surprising result she discovered.
As a high-tech forward-thinking entrepreneur at heart, Patty soon became disenchanted with the dying world of book publishing. So she and her husband started a new publishing company to create the books that were suddenly pouring forth from her fingers. Now at 59, Patty has won 9 awards for her work, both National and Global. She works closely with the Italian Tourism Bureau to find solutions for their ‘touristically’ over-crowded cities. Her ideas are gaining worldwide attention in the travel industry. Patty lives in California with her husband Roger, and enjoys being the Commodore of their local Duffy Boat Club. Marvin says although he’s been a lifelong entrepreneur he never envisioned starting a new venture at 69 which he has done. Traveling as an R&R musician during the hippie era of the 60s and 70s, he owned a home improvement company then engaged in several MLMs, then began writing to now being a multi-published author and professional editor. With a diversity of experiences behind him Marvin identified a gap in a very prolific industry, the publishing industry.
As with so many industries, the big players make it hard in this case for quality, creative unknown artists, in any field, to be exposed and get noticed, unless they’re well connected. This is why Marvin started ‘Publishing 4 the People’! He says ‘it’s the best of all world’s to create a venture where it’s a ‘win-win’ for everyone involved: the artists, the audience, the new company P4tP and Charities win too as a small portion of revenues go to selected worthy charities. Marvin’s goal for artists in any field is to have a significant and positive impact on how struggling artists can gain notoriety and earn cash to further their careers because the life is such a roller coaster of emotions, he knows he’s been there. Go here to learn more: publishing4thepeople.com and for listeners of this podcast there’s a bonus waiting for you. The startling outcome and unexpected bonus for Marvin is since the inception of his new venture where all involved win, he has a remarkable amount of new energy and life and, he even feels younger. That certainly is a bonus!
Ross Keating experienced redundancy a few times in his corporate career, and that, in itself can hold you back from moving forward. But for Ross the saying “Age is only a number. Don’t let a number hold you back,” is a thought he lives by in fact, it has helped him move forward.
At the age of 50, Ross and his family moved to Australia and he decided to establish a consulting practice, which he called The Client Orchardist. Having previously experienced redundancy a few times in his corporate career, Ross learnt the importance of identifying and clearly understanding what your transferable skills are. That’s not easy when suffering from the effects of redundancy and neither is the next step deciding where you want to end up!
To identify where your opportunities may lie, start by looking at your past work experiences and personal interests. Taking time on this step is important as it sets the tone for the next step, says Ross, which is learning simple ways to set goals. Doing this, will help you focus on your new ventures so you can work towards your goals.
Applying for jobs when you’re over 50 and not being successful is tough and demoralizing which Ross knows well, and is why he talks about how to overcome these challenges and start again in business, whatever your age.
Using the analogy of growing an orchard of trees Ross highlights a key to this process, is in understanding what you want from life and how a business venture is a part of the “orchard” to make it happen, and how to tend to “your orchard” to bring your dreams and goals to fruition.

Debbie Rivers felt she worked in one of the most disliked occupations, auditing! A safe, well-paid government job and one that she didn’t like, plus she dreaded going to work as it sucked the life out of her.
Despite being a seriously risk adverse person, at 53 she took a huge step, and left her security behind, to work in dating! Debbie said it was time to do what she loved, making a difference rather than nit picking! An Accidental Entrepreneur, she always had an aversion to business as her parents ran delis (delicatessens) while she was growing up and were never around. After 21 years of marriage, and single, Debbie explored the dating scene but was dismayed by it and its new language breadcrumbing, ghosting, orbiting, benching, terms for bad or poor behaviour. Despite that Debbie felt compelled to explore speed dating and loved the concept! She talked with others about the idea, until a bar owner convinced her to try running one herself and her first was Perth's Biggest Speed Dating Event.
Crazy, is how Debbie describes herself then, with no events or business experience she didn’t wait for perfection but dived in thinking all she needed was a website and people! Debbie laughs because she now knows how hard that is to achieve! But she did it, it wasn't perfect but she started and it was a great success. Over time Debbie has expanded to all things dating including coaching people to navigate the dating world and to maybe find the love they had longed for. To learn more go to: mailchi.mp/f5b34c4cee27/debbieriversloveyourselffirst Despite now living the dream, Debbie says it’s never too late to live the life you have always imagined and is glad she made the choice to follow her passion.
ANITA BENTATA said nearing 50 she needed to change her life story from trauma, being alone and hard work, but didn’t yet know how. Childhood neglect and abuse had shaped Anita into a powerless young adult unable to protect her from being stalked in her teens. Years later, she escaped domestic violence with her two young children and entered therapy to make sure it never happened again and also took a risk and entered university to change careers from accounts to psychotherapy which she did and began helping victims of DV and other trauma.
After years of experience and practical knowledge Anita was ready to reach more people and to address ‘next level gaps’ and also remembered her promise to clients to write a book explaining why women stay. She did that and wrote The Wolf in a Suit. This led to reflecting deeply on what was missing in society. To address the gaps for survivors, community and professionals in prevention, intervention and healing Anita created Feminine Principle events and the Big Hearted Woman program. She answered what her parents, other parents and society didn’t teach about love, relationships, stress and trauma; then created the Women Starting Again group which has 765 members, plus educative online programs and national and international retreats, talks and workshops. Her next book is underway “Uncomfortable Conversations: how to talk to someone when they are in a toxic relationship;” as well Anita started an online membership program on her website anitabentata.com so healing is easier and affordable allowing woman to help another woman heal. Domestic violence is a scourge in society and clearly Anita’s book and groups can be of immense help and support. Learn more at her website anitabentata.com where you can also contact her.

Starting off on a fairly conventional career path Ingrid recognised to grow her career she needed to relocate from the country to Sydney. In her late 40s, she experienced terrible workplace bullying that rocked her to the core causing her to re-think her career choices, which at first was tough considering her experience. Wisely Ingrid reviewed her skills, which enabled her to set up a Virtual Assistant business, which she operated very successfully from her own home office in Taree in country NSW, Australia.
Recognising the benefit and enormous satisfaction that the Virtual Assistant career and the lifestyle was bringing her, and countless other women throughout Australia (and the world), Ingrid saw there were many who were seeking help to get started but just had no idea where to begin. This was the catalyst for Ingrid to set up the VA Institute, because importantly becoming a VA is a path anyone can do and certainly those who are retrenched can. Now in its 2nd year of operation the VA Institute provides one-on-one training and support to women far and wide, allowing them to launch and drive a successful career as a VA. Sara applied that question to her life and now is one of (if not the only) female coppersmith in America (or the world), working as a metal smith of vintage and modern cookware manufacturing pure metal kitchenware in tin, copper, and iron. It wasn’t easy at first she had to learn how to create cookware from scratch because in America, copper cookware, in particular, had not been made for decades. The knowledge was hidden or lost, it was hard to find as no one seemed to know what they were doing, including Sara. Making lots of phone calls starting with “Hi, I don’t know what I’m doing, but ... those endless calls, her research and tenacity bloomed into a great business.
The most exciting part now Sara said she gets to jump into the bigger discussion about food. Not as one more chef or one more foodie, but as someone who wants us to ask the same questions about our cookware as we do about what we eat. We should ask about our pots and pans, ‘Where is it from? What is it made of? Who made it? Is it sustainable? Is It Renewable? Is it Pure? For more see her website saradahmen.com and housecopper.com
Sara’s love of historical research for her fiction writing, inspired ‘House Copper & Cookware’, the name for her American-made cookware created with pure and/or organic materials which has been featured in national and international publications. Publishing over 100 articles as a contributing editor for trade magazines, she recently spoke at TEDx Rapid City. Her debut novel, Widow 1881 {Sillan Pace Brown 2018}, won the Laramie Award grand prize for Western Historical Fiction, plus other awards and she’s now in talks for media development. With all this activity Sara has a wonderful supportive family.
Else Byskov like many people nearing 50 had been a searching soul all her life. Leaving her homeland of Denmark and living, working and teaching Spanish, she surprisingly encountered the material of Martinus, the Danish visionary and mystic - and was completely bowled over by it. After Else read the major part of his voluminous work, she was so enthusiastic she felt compelled to tell somebody about it! Rather than verbally discussing what she uncovered, Else wrote her first book ‘Death Is an Illusion’, published in 2002, which is an introduction to the extensive enlightening, provocative and practical works of Martinus. Yes that was a mouthful, but listen to this podcast in full and you’ll understand why. Martinus main work is called ‘The Book of Life’ (see Livets Bog). In total his work comprises over 10.000 pages of spiritual insight, including some positive profound insights for people between 50-70, as his belief is it’s the most significant time of your life.
Spreading the word about Martinus because his work is considered the most complete spiritual revelation ever disclosed to humankind, she has also written 6 more books about aspects of Martinus´ spiritual science. The tough part is prejudice when people hear the word spiritual science, they immediately think they know what it is and means, and they judge it or criticise it before they grasp it. Else’s advise to listeners of this podcast, and her readers is to get rid of the one-life theory. It has never been proven and it is completely illogical. Once you see the bigger picture, your whole outlook on life will change - you will become a much happier person when you realize death is an illusion. Learn more here: newspiritualscience.com
Dr Rosemary McCallum is a great believer in ‘The Powerful Impact of Emotional Intelligence.’
But that wasn’t always so. Life presented a major challenge for she and her husband who had a defaulting client, the result of which caused them to not only lose their successful design business, but their life to fall apart, as they lost everything. Refusing to go bankrupt life spiralled out of control, Rosemary suffered severe manic depression, and it took years for them to get back on their feet through the ‘gift’ their life challenge presented.
Rosemary quotes, “Life presents us gifts that when taken up can stretch us and help us find the courage to be the truth of ourselves.” Acknowledging this well-known phrase she said that is exactly what losing everything did for her. You never know where a life challenge will take you and for Rosemary it sent her to study Behavioural science. Once finished she felt intellectually informed but emotionally empty, there was something missing, a lynch key that held it all together. Always loving great minds Rosemary remembered Einstein’s referral to metaphysics, so she studied that too, and it changed her world profoundly, later revolutionizing her practice and the lives of her clients. Why? Discovering the power of harnessing emotions, using them to bring meaning to what they did rather than looking for meaning in what they were doing. This formula helped Rosemary deal with the tragic loss of her two children and gave her fire to build a 6-figure business. Learn more here: drrosemarymccallum.com
Dr Rosemary is passionate about activating the exceptional in people so they can have a life of choice expanding the vision of businesses, and to help re-instate the passion and drive they had in the beginning. It’s an exciting positive process!

As a female wellsite geologist working within the male-dominated offshore oil and gas, coal seam gas and minerals industries, life is always interesting. But Amanda Barlow does much more than that. Starting out as a recreational marathon runner she now has run 47 marathons in 16 different countries and is a member of The Seven Continents Marathon Club. In the Jungle Marathon, in Brazil she wrote about that experience “Call of the Jungle – How a Camping-Hating City-Slicker Mum Survived an Ultra Endurance race through the Amazon Jungle.” She’s tackled extreme events in exciting parts of the world, like the Great Wall of China, the Inca Trail and Antarctica.
“An Inconvenient Life: My Unconventional Career as a Wellsite Geologist” is Amanda’s second book which documents her career as a Geologist and how she ended up working as a wellsite geologist on offshore oil and gas rigs. "Offshore Oil and Gas PEOPLE" Amanda's third book, is an overview of what it’s like to work on an offshore oilrig, and the role everyone plays. This handy guide serves as a pre-deployment induction manual for all new starters in the industry so they know what to expect when they get to a rig for the first time or for people wanting to get into the industry. It’s also an informative guide for family and friends of offshore workers.
What are Amanda’s thoughts and advice for others? Writing a book will help you become a perceived authority in your field, but it’s not a wealth creator and you can’t go into a project hoping to achieve that, but to achieve a lot as Amanda has done requires discipline, fitness and staying focused. Do that in any endeavour then you can do it!
Catherine had a successful career in mental health, but found her soul wasn't satisfied which is why at 50, she decided to "come out of the closet" about her spiritual journey. Why? Up to then if a person expressed interest in yoga or meditation of any form you were viewed as being suspect. Now of course it’s mainstream, but back then, not so. Hitting the half-century, Catherine ditched her corporate career, put up a website, and opened her own counselling practice incorporating psychotherapy and mindfulness, and while it wasn’t for everyone, it spoke to enough people that she made a good income. Out of that experience she wrote her first book, Shortcuts to Mindfulness: 100 Ways to Personal and Spiritual Growth.
What happened next for Catherine is a classic example of listening to what you want to achieve in your mature life, then actioning your next steps and seeing where that leads. Often people don’t have a choice of consciously leaving their work or business, they’re put out to pasture because of their age. If that happens think positively as there’s a new beginning just around the corner, which is what Catherine experienced when she turned 60. Since she creater her dream career, her next goal was to find her dream partner. After a long trial-and-error in the dating world, she met the love of her life, and much to her surprise, people started coming to her for dating coaching, and so a new specialisation was born. Out of that Catherine’s second book was borne: Tantric Dating: Bringing Love and Awareness to the Dating Process, sharing whatshe learned and in talks, workshops and YouTube videos. Listen to Catherine’s advice, if you don’t know how to do something, go on YouTube. Learn more at her website: catherineauman.com
Karen worked for the Canadian federal government as a tax collector until one day she woke up partially paralysed on one side of her body. Nine days after that, she was diagnosed with MS and ended up on disability, taking a 30% cut in pay, and 2 years later filed for bankruptcy. You think that would be the end of it but when Karen was able to get credit again, she found herself spending the same way as before. Karen says no doubt others reading and hearing this can relate but this time it was going to stop she recognised her self-destructive behaviour and worked hard to get control of her debt.
Later realizing she wasn’t alone in this behaviour, Karen thought she could be of service, using her experience as a tax collector, a bookkeeper and life experience to help others avoid continual drowning in debt and possibly by doing that she might even get herself off of disability. In early fifties coaching became Karen’s focus and helping others to avoid the pitfalls she encountered. It’s a very common and wonderful result when instead of reeling in your own misery you can learn from your experiences to help others live a better life, and in the process feel so much better emotionally about yourself. Listen to Karen talk about having faith, your turning point of Pebbles & Stones moving one stone or pebble at a time, not to isolate yourself, along with the three hints she now gives her clients. The final two important tips Karen offers is to get support from someone who isn’t close to you, and throughout work to keep a positive mental attitude. Dr. Clete proudly states at 80, he’s going strong and focused on helping to improve public schools. With so many years behind him he has many fascinating stories to talk about some of which Dr. Clete does allude and expand on during this program. Dr. Clete is extraordinarily eloquent when he discusses the five basic needs for human relations, whether in a love relationship, business relationship, parental relationship or a friend relationship, he says four factors come into play. Listen to the program for more on this fascinating topic and much more including the discussion about life with no purpose is no life and how to find that purpose.
A winding road of life experiences he spent years in the school system and was awarded a contract to evaluate every school district in West Virginia. His favourite question of teachers and students was “What do you like about school and what do you not like about school,” and discovered that many teachers and students did not like school. He then wrote a book on how to create a high performing school where students and teachers liked their school. Retiring from the professorship at the age of 65 he wrote that book. The third version of that book is now two books, and was published last October 2017.
Poor human relations are often the cause of not only dysfunctional schools but businesses, groups, and organizations and to continue his work he formed a consulting agency called “The Professional Development and Assessment Center”. The agency provides training to improve leadership skills in human relations conflict management and group management and seminars. Leaving city life for four years, Sas and her husband worked 7 days per week and fell into bed exhausted most nights. Rosie Christopherson finally realized she had a quiet goal. The sad indictment she discovered while working for many years in human resources in Melbourne, established that quiet goal. Constantly seeing more and more greedy companies not putting people before profits, she was sure there had to be a better kinder way to conduct business. If she was to actually achieve that, it would mean living in a much less consumeristic way for her partner and herself plus making other life changes. Listen to this podcast to learn what Rosie and her partner did. They made a bold move while staying open to different opportunities that they hoped the universe would provide, and it did! Because Rosie had tarot in her life since a young woman this allowed them to spend part of their year in India where Rosie studied reiki and reflexology at a deep level. Unexpectedly the universe opened up again allowing them to turn into reality that quiet goal Rosie had way back in her human resource days. They did that after many struggles in Vietnam, their staff were their family and together they achieved their dream by providing employment, through the business. The couple renovated the tiny local school, using donations from guests for tarot readings and counseling and this provided such a memorable experience and living life in a happy fulfilling way. However Rosie and her partner are now living in Montmorillon, southwest France, where they welcome guests to their self-catering accommodation. Montmorillon is known as the city of Writing and Book Professions so Rosie has written her first book set in France. It’s called ‘Bonne Chance and Butterflies’ and is fiction about following your dreams and taking a chance.
To say Liliane’s midlife turning point was an unusual one is an understatement. In Spring 2016 she was writing a novel alongside her students, in a course she was teaching and in the aftermath experienced some massive life changes.
The novel was called WANTED: GREENER GRASS and was about a couple whose relationship had become flat and unsatisfying, and what they do about it. In the month after Liliane finished writing the book, she celebrated her 29th anniversary with her much-loved partner. Although they had different lifestyle values Liliane wasn’t look for anyone new. However in the same month a new man came into her life who shared many of her desired lifestyle values – for example, he was an ex-semi-professional dancer of Latin and Ballroom styles; Liliane had been dancing for 20 years but without her life partner who didn’t dance.
Within six weeks of meeting the new man she found herself facing the same dilemma that her main character faces at the end of the novel she had just completed. It was true case of life imitating art! Going into an intense soul-searching period that included seeing three counsellors and an astrologer, Liliane finally decided she was ready to part ways with her long-time partner and father of their three kids in order to have a new life journey with this new man.
Her long time partner was extraordinary: he understood why the choice, and despite much sadness and despair, he supported her decision and is now following a dream of his own living in Queensland, Australia. Published in November 2017 Liliane’s novel is called ‘Wanted: Greener Grass’– a story about love, envy, and a crazy kind of courage. Learn more about Liliane at her website: lilianegrace.com
Merle Temple is the author 4 books of the Michael Parker series: Deputy: Once Upon A Time in Mississippi, A Ghostly Shade of Pale, A Rented World, and The Redeemed: A Leap of Faith. A fifth book, Blood On The Ground, will be released in the fall (US winter) of 2018.
Merle’s books chronicle a series of stranger than fiction historical events that only Merle could write about with such authenticity, because he lived them. His writing is so cinematic that a movie or TV series leaps off the pages as you read the books and that will happen. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Merle’s books are drawn from his experiences as a deputy sheriff, an agent in the first "drug wars," the first captain in the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, a manager in the corporate world, a campaign chairman in the corporate and political wars, and an evangelist in prison. From here Merle’s story becomes even more murky and sinister, but finally there’s a great outcome, which makes listening to this podcast a must.
Even though Merle was put into prison in a high profile political case, he formed the most successful inmate led ministry in the history of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Merle recently spoke to inmates in the prison where he was incarcerated. The ministry he began continues almost ten years after its creation and is bigger and better than ever.
Ghostly, the all-time bestselling novel for Barnes and Noble in North Mississippi, was chosen by one college as required reading for English students; his books are used in middle school and high school English classes in several US states while Deputy is nowused by Mississippi State University. Church libraries, shelters, and prisons in eight states also share his books. To learn more go to his website: merletemple.com.

Francesca’s stories of her earlier life are fascinating which you will hear on this podcast. Volunteering in wonderful locations and even one real job where she worked for a spiritual tour company that took her to the Amazon and Peru and was introduced to the healing power of Iowaska (a plant which has numerous other names). During this life phase Francesca had a big ah ah moment that truly touched her soul as she realised being immersed in nature was a needed ingredient for her life.
Returning back to the UK and still in her fifties, Francesca felt confused at first but then nature presented itself and became a big part of Francesca’s life and still is. During her self-discovery where she was depressed for a while Francesca discovered many women felt the same only more so. Many don’t feel they have anything to offer but of course they do. Francesca firmly believes when you learn to follow your heart magic happens, and when you do that and listen to your heart to take a huge step into the unknown, magic can unfold and happen. Importantly it’s a time when women learn about their own wisdom. Apollinaire’s quote about this is profound. So in 2016 Francesca started what is now a huge Facebook group – The Silver Tent, which any woman can join - the best part it’s free. Some of The Silver Tent members are very active sharing, helping and supporting each other, while others at first are shy. This group now has two further attached groups Silver Synergy and Silver Grove. All in all Francesca is deservedly proud of what she has achieved to help wise elder women around the world to become conscious, co-creative, collaborators. Here’s the website: The Silver Tent.com
After touring around the world on the pushbike tour in 2000 which Stephanie Cunningham and her husband did for months, they arrived in Australia and ultimately decided to stay, only to be confronted with visa work restrictions. Unable to work, what do you do? It’s time to reinvent retirement and find another way to be productive and be involved in a venture that is extremely fulfilling in numerous ways. Before embarking on the pushbike tour Stephanie was a policy analyst, drafting legislation and policy at the state level but in another country. As the visa work restrictions eased, this energetic mature preneur decided to be a yoga teacher, because she wanted to change the public perception of Yoga, which is that yoga is for the young, who is flexible, and it’s very difficult, all of which is extremely misleading. How to achieve her goal, Stephanie chose a different approach, podcasting, where she talks to yoga teachers around the world, which she feels the medium shows that yoga is for everybody, as a result this innovative yoga teacher has a growing worldwide sangha (community). To know that people at the grassroots are doing these wonderful things for others offsets the terrible things that occur in society today. A book that Stephanie recommends is ‘They Ask, You Answer,’ by Marcus Sheridan. You can learn more about Stephanie and her work at her website yogalightness.com.au In addition to her Yoga Podcast Stephanie is working on another project Day To Day Retirement that deals with how to continue to be a contributing, vital member of society even when retired.

Shortly after retiring Deb began thinking what she wanted to do next, and it didn’t take long for an idea to emerge. Inspiration can emerge from any day-to-day activity just keep your ‘senses’ open, and watching a TV Program “Say Yes to the Dress” she said, “I love weddings, I love cosplay (costume play), am a self-proclaimed “geeky girl,” I love sci/fi, comic book, fantasy, steam punk, all vastly different from her former job as a Senior Executive with the US Federal Government. After helping over 2,500 people launch, improve and sell their businesses, one key issue has stood out that is with business planning regardless of size, large or a small site. See Peter's website custombps.org for solutions to all that.
Professor Brian Wilson says John E. Fetzer was a fascinating man who kept himself mentally alert and young by constantly exploring anything new and is why Brian wrote about him in the book ‘Quest for the New Age’. But that’s not the only reason. As professor of American religious history in the Department of Comparative Religion at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Brian explored John Fetzer’s as he had two extremely contrasting sides to his life. A media mogul and the owner of the Detroit Tigers baseball team for almost thirty years beginning in 1956, when he died John Fetzer was one of the wealthiest people in the US. But the other side Professor Wilson says, is the most interesting aspect one that was not well known – John’s life-long spiritual search that led him from traditional forms of Christianity to an exploration of a variety of metaphysical religions culminating in the New Age a term that was just beginning to emerge. The result of Brian’s search was Fetzer ultimately used his wealth to found the Kalamazoo-based Fetzer Institute which funds programs exploring the power of love and forgiveness to help build the spiritual foundation for a loving world. The other, Fetzer Memorial Trust, which remains, committed to Fetzer’s vision of a new spiritual science by funding cutting-edge research into the frontiers of physics, biology, and consciousness. This remarkable man followed these 3 principles and suggested that everyone adopt them as they move toward midlife and 50 looms large. ‘Step Out of Your Mind,’ Keep Connected to Other People & Be Sure to Have Close Friends to Connect & Converse With doing these three things Will Keep You Young, Alive & Mentally Alert”. After discovering a brain tumour, she decided to get off the hamster wheel and leave the criminal justice system so she pondered what could she do. The catch cry of so many people in midlife when they decide a new direction is needed. Wisdom kicked in and she looked at her passions and there was one that stood out – she always loved and was attracted to horses. She had done numerous years of personal coaching with Personal Success Institute prior to getting certified as an Equine Gestalt Coach, which is why Andrea founded her business Withers Whisper, LLC in 2017. Michelle Beber’s own personal experience with After Death Communications was foreign to her. Nearing 50, an emotional breakdown put her on a path of spiritual awakening starting with her life-changing after-death communication or ADC from her mom. ADC is a direct and spontaneous communication from a deceased loved one, importantly without the use of a medium. Researching signs from deceased loved ones Michelle discovered the book, Hello From Heaven, which helped her to understand how we remain connected to those who have died. As Michelle discovered there are different forms of communication, which can appear in different ways, explaining this during the podcast. ADC is not strange it is a real experience. By now with her experiences and research, Michelle went on to write her first manuscript entitled My Mommy Is a Butterfly, a picture book to help children cope with grief. But the universe blocked her path to publishing it for several years and for reasons unknown to her. During those years, she developed a strong connection to the angelic realm and wrote the poetry for Angels, Angels, Everywhere and in 2014 published the book, which became an award winner. Now in 2018, at 62, Michelle’s first manuscript My Mommy Is a Butterfly will be released in late August! For more about Michelle go to her website michellebeber.com.
Toward the end of the Podcast Michelle offers 4 tips for listeners: By asking the angels for help this can dramatically improve your life and lead you to your life purpose. Open your heart and mind to afterdeath communications, and this will prove that your loved ones are always with you. Never let your age stand in the way of your dreams! Open your heart, listen to your soul, and be your unique self!

Hans Schwedler is extremely focused on Health and Wellness and although seriously cynical he was keen to find out about the health benefits of Laughter. So he trotted off to a Laughter Demonstration at a large Health Expo, and it wasn’t too long before he ended up on stage laughing his head off completely convinced about the techniques demonstrated. Hans said what he discovered was this form of laughter club is vastly different from the laughter clubs that existed some years ago. This originated in Mumbia, India, as a result he participated in a Laughter Leader training course then started community based Laughter Clubs, where many people have since benefited. But given his earlier training in mental health and wellbeing he decided to donate his time to Aged Care Homes, Retiree Villages, Corporate Organisations and Community Service Organisations like Probus to promote the values of Laughter. Patients and staff at Aged Care Homes derive enormous benefits particularly in mental health, but so does the community at large since mental health is such a huge issue. Laughter sessions consist of gentle exercises with laughter, it’s the universal language, as it knows no culture, gender or race, and brings people together (social bonding), relaxes tenses situations and enables total engagement. Laughter sessions also consist of deep breathing, which helps to release the stress in the body, plus visualisation, music and meditation, which have similar effects on the brain. JULIAN MATHER says the day the school system taught conventional career planning hemissed it. In fact the school system must have recognised Julian was a chronic truant. As his life progressed he self-educated reading between the lines of books to find secrets to turning his obsession into his profession. From high school failure to Army sniper to globe trotting TV cameraman to professional magician to accidental You Tube personality to online entrepreneur he hasn’t felt he’s worked a day in his life. Now at 57 Julian says he’s just beginning. His pivotal moment was in the UK at the same school celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay went. It’s a tough school with tough problems and Julian was filming a documentary for Australian TV, in which an inspiring policeman was talking to a tough bunch of fifteen year olds about the dangers of aerosol sniffing. Their bravado melted they were inspired. When three boys left, silently they removed aerosol cans from their bags and left them on the teacher’s desk. Something went off in Julian’s head. He had just witnessed the power of direct action. One policeman standing in front of thirty boys achieved more in thirty minutes, than million dollar government programs, which Julian had covered. That experience led him to walk away from his TV career at the top of his game to take a program into schools to teach children. Teaching skills like philanthropy, becoming a magician, to creating the world’s first online training academy for professional children’s entertainers and now speaking and writing on Courage. In this podcast Julian presents some profound tips to find a new skill, ones that can easily be learned at no cost. To learn more about Julian visit his website julianmather.com

Jeff Rasley left his successful law practice of 30 years to take a hike! His wife knew he was as an avid adventure traveller in his earlier life and when he began manifesting mid-life crisis symptoms she suggested he go take a hike on the other side of the world. The cure suggested by his wife was to go trekking in the Himalayas on the Mt. Everest Base Camp Trail at the age of 42. Trekking the Himalayas as therapy seemed to work. Taking up Himalayan Mountaineering and solo sea kayaking he wrote several articles about those experiences from a spiritual/psychological perspective. A few years later on his fourth mountaineering expedition his climbing team barely escaped an avalanche although tragically three Nepalese porters carrying equipment for Western climbers were killed. Deeply affected, Jeff reconsidered the purpose of his adventure travel and found the answer was to combine adventure travel with culturally sensitive development work in remote villages in the Nepal Himalayas and to write and teach about that. Achieving material success in the US and finding communal wisdom in Nepal Jeff believes travel deepens the soul & broadens the mind and so founded the Basa Village Foundation (BVF) in Nepal and serves on the board of 5 other non-profit corporations in Indianapolis USA. The BVF has provided the funds to build a school, a hydroelectric system, computers and educational materials for the school, smokeless stoves for all the homes in the Basa village area, school toilets, temporary medical clinics, and a water delivery system for this remote village in Nepal. Learn more about Jeff here: jeffreyrasley.com Jeff has written ten books, and 70+ articles, many about combining adventure travel with philanthropy ("philanthro-trekking") and what it takes to live a meaningful life.
Cheryl Ilov surprised not only herself, but everyone who knew her when she began her martial arts training in the Art of the Ninja at the age of 47. Sure she likes tutus and toe shoes, Pilates and pedicures, but martial arts, this was never ever on her radar. But the Universe had other plans for her.
Her Sensei was her acupuncturist and her friend long before he became her teacher. It took him 3 years to get her to train with him, and she did not go willingly. He literally had to drag her onto the mat, kicking and screaming, not in a good way. Finally agreeing to take a few classes, just to prove to him how much she was going to hate it, to her surprise, she fell in love with the art and the training, and the sense of strength, empowerment, and confidence she gained from training. Her friends were horrified. They told Cheryl she was too old, too frail, she would get injured, and she should quit. She ignored them and kept going to class.
Ten years later, at the age of 57, Cheryl earned the high honour of becoming her Sensei's first female black belt. In the entire 20 year history of the school, no woman had reached the rank of black belt. During her training, Cheryl learned many secrets of the ninja and how they train including how to make the Kiai sound, - the short shout uttered when performing an attacking move. Beverley became determined to dedicate her life’s work to alleviating mental disorders caused by trauma; now she’s achieved that with documented scientific evidence being released now. The attempted rape experience triggered off flashbacks of horrendous abuse as a child, which had been locked away in her deep sub-conscious. Those flashbacks caused extreme anxiety/panic/depression; the psychiatrists said she was hallucinating and prescribed heavy medication. Finally able to get collaboration for some of her flashbacks, she knew what she saw was real, but the medical model could not provide answers, and this became the trigger to search for a way to get well. It took 10 years. A story of sheer tenacity and perseverance, Beverley researched, attended conferences on PTSD and volunteered for 7 years in mental health organisations. Listen to Beverley’s podcast as she describes a profound meeting she had that became the catalyst for her to develop a 9 step formula called ‘My Envisioned Mind’ (My.EM) which now many people have experienced positive results. She set up a Not for Profit organisation where her goal was to give free therapy after hearing a cry for help from returning soldiers (more have died from suicide than killed in the war), but was told as her ‘My.EM’ approach was not an evidence-based therapy, it could not be used. Tenacity kicked in again so in her 70th year, Beverley along with a PhD student from Fielding University set out to prove that 10 hours with ‘My.EM’ worked. They did that. Learn more here: myenvisionedmind.com Having proof and documented scientific evidence her goal now is to reach out to soldiers and emergency workers who are suffering from PTSD. Elliott used to be a government employee and wrote speeches for politicians. After he got divorced, he blamed the other person. Then he asked himself, “What do I have to learn from all this? I don’t want to go through this again.” So Elliott set out to learn what it means to be a man in a relationship. An interesting story on its own but that’s for another book. He was blown away by the timeless wisdom about being a man that had been written over the centuries. What he learned coincided with what he heard women complain is lacking in men today. They don’t show leadership, don’t make decisions and don’t take responsibility although many men may disagree. That’s what Elliott’s research discovered so his goal became, change the men of the world to keep marriages together, which still applies today, a lofty, but worthy goal. His biggest surprise was, while women know this is what they want in a man, and regardless of age, men need to be convinced. Elliott’s research also discovered women read long books, and men like short books and is why he wrote: “Being the Strong Man A Woman Wants: Timeless Wisdom on Being a Man” in 128 pages, and it’s striking a chord around the world because it’s now translated and published in 24 languages. Carolyn CJ Jones’ passion now is a speaker and life coach yet that happened quite by accident. Yes it is totally possible to make a 180-degree life change, even though you didn’t set out to do that. She had a publishing business that was not doing well and wanting to rejuvenate that she attended an event, “Rejuvenate Your Practice,” in 2012. The event was for healers, coaches, and speakers, and by the end of the weekend, it was clear to CJ she needed to speak and coach about how to gain peace and freedom from resentment by using forgiveness which applied to herself as well as those attending. That entire experience freed Carolyn who in time felt called to share what she discovered, but how? Carolyn did what she knew well, and went on to self-publish what became the multi-award-winning verse/photograph book, “Opening the Gates of the Heart: A Journey of Healing.” It’s a compilation of wrought iron gate images she photographed then wrote inspirational verses to accompany each image. It’s a tribute to the beauty and resiliency of the human spirit. In 2017, CJ created the “Y.I.P.P.E.E. Method” of healing, which by using it to guide people, she presented this program also to the men incarcerated in San Quentin State Prison who were enrolled in their Re-entry Empowerment Program. Several of them told her they forgave their abusive parents. Currently, CJ works with seniors who are struggling with resentment, so they can pass in peace. Frequently, the adult children also have resentment, either against their parent the senior, or another sibling; she works with them as well. CJ presents workshops and conducts private, one-on-one coaching sessions. To learn more about CJ’s programs, go to her website carolyncjjones.com.
It’s not uncommon in midlife for some to feel discouraged with life, work and marriage. It’s why many people choose to begin praying to be shown their purpose, work and what they came here to do. That was how Shanta Gabriel’s midlife unfolded. Living in Honolulu while giving a massage, a surprising event happened. At the end of her table, was a manifestation of Golden Light, a vision of a massive angel with wings that went out of the ceiling. The Angel whispered in Shanta’s inner ear and told her he was Archangel Michael. Having no interest let alone background in angels, Shanta was alarmed she would be considered crazy, so she ignored him. That didn’t help. Visits continued until 1990 when again a huge angel manifested in her living room with wings that went out the ceiling, and he said he was Archangel Gabriel, and had work for Shanta to do. Messages continued daily and while she kept trying to ignore the visits, slowly she turned around, then created an inspirational card set and book and by the time she was 50 a small angel business became a reality – finally she felt she was doing the work she came on Earth to do. Five years later at 55, catastrophe hit one after the other, her business went bankrupt, she lost her house, her appendix burst, she went into menopause, her husband found a new wife, and they were divorced all in one year. It was like the dark night of the Soul - Shanta felt totally abandoned on all levels. A few years later during the night an inspirational flash occurred to work with the Archangels again republish her book and now in 2018 Shanta is inspired and re-energized and yes at 73. Shanta loves the work that she’s doing now in groups, classes and writing inspirational blog articles she shares online, fulfilled and happier than ever before she is a wonderful example of regardless of the hurdles you encounter you can reinvigorate your life and start over again regardless of your age.

Lynn Wood says there’s a growing trend of people tired of all the negative news around the world, so she decided to take action suggesting there needed to be a platform showing the opposite - new and clever positive ideas happening around the world. With a substantial corporate career in Sydney and Hong Kong, Lynn was one of the first women in Australia to be appointed to a listed organization board followed by serving on many boards and committees, private, public, NFP and Government. Travel can spark a wide variety of creative ideas which happened to Lynn, and while on a trip to Canada three years ago - a guide said using harsh words that have been modified: “promote what you love rather than bash what you dislike”. After much thought and encouragement Lynn created IdeaSpies.com, which in basic terms is like Facebook but only for new and clever positive ideas, a place where people can ‘escape into’ and search from the growing list of 1,500 ideas. In essence Lynn has become the Chief Idea Spy and was advised to expand the platform she should ask business leaders two questions: “Where do ideas go in your organization and how are they rated”? The lights went on to further create IdeaSpies Enterprise to help give staff a voice in their organizations by offering them a simple, fun way to suggest ideas that would improve the way they work. Lynn says true Leaders spark innovation by creating an inclusive, open culture. Lynn offers these tips for listeners either for business or life: be open to opportunities; look around and see what’s positive in the world; persevere even when people tell you your idea is a fantasy; and connect with people - where you can add value to each other.

Nearing 50, and on a very low paying job, with $50K in debt what would most people do in that situation, the obvious answer is look for a higher paying job. But no, James Goi did what most would think was the worst thing you could do under those circumstances quit your job! James had a strong desire to pour all his time and energy into working on a book he’d been working on. The title of which was also surprising considering his circumstances, (“How to Attract Money Using Mind Power”), but this daring mature entrepreneur applied on himself what he was writing about. In doing so he attracted two six-figure windfalls into his household within a three-month period after quitting his job. A year after quitting his job, he published his first book and began living his dream life as a self-help author. Fast forward more than a decade, now James is an internationally published author, has written and published 9 books and will publish his tenth book very soon. James is living proof that it's "never too late" to do a complete 180 turn, and begin living the life of your dreams. James pivotal point came when he decided to risk everything to follow his passion. Once he made the decision and took action, there were not really any "pitfalls" and importantly, he never regretted his decision. Daring to take action James tips for others are focus on what you really want, have faith you can have it, then move forward and most importantly never quit. The benefit is gaining your personal freedom as James did.
To Paul McKeon words have become an important part of his life, and says of the George Burns quote, ‘You can’t help getting older;’ but you don’t have to get old’. Paul feels strongly life is incredibly inefficient given the experiences we have gained by the time we’re in our mid years. However many outside forces today like corporations and media and still some in their 50’s today, reinforce the fact you’re growing old and therefore going downhill. They are factually wrong - in the last century that description applied during the 1950s’ but today it’s wrong. Today the 50s, 60s, 70s is the first generation ever to be living longer healthier lives which is why many are starting new ventures, or businesses and are feeling more vibrant than ever before and brain stimulation is part of that. There are countless ways to do that. In a few decades we will be living to 100 doing even more with our life. So the question is “What!” What are you going to do with those new years?” It’s time to focus on developing brain function, expanding your brain skills, along with taking time for physical health. It’s time to stop thinking ‘old’ using patronising terms about over 50’s instead start to consider the connotation of the Super Adult. This podcast has for more on this topic, Pauls website does too: retirementsbooks.com.au go to 50 Plus Books, you’ll find a lot on this demographic. This is a fabulous chapter in life where you can paint a new ‘you’; it’s the first generation ever to reinvent themselves. In the 1960’s and 1970’s they were change makers and today they are too.
Well known in the fields of entrepreneurship, and as an award winning professor Dr D Anthony Miles has a wealth of experience particularly in the retail industry, banking, and financial services industry. Sought after by the media for his views on many topics, this eloquent Professor continually offers practical tips and suggestions for others. D Anthony suggests problems are well-disguised opportunities and while everyone has strengths and weakness, don’t bury your weaknesses - acknowledge them. Generally most people ‘wear an employee hat’ that hampers their creative thinking, take that off and put on your entrepreneurial hat and think like an entrepreneur. And yes he says, everyone has an entrepreneurial hat you just need to find it. The information revolution is today’s economy. To help people create new opportunities for themselves think about the things you complain about, are there gaps there? Think about things people in your life complain about, are there gaps there? Competitors have weak points – look for them, who are your competitors targeting, then look for those they’ve left out. A mature person has developed many skills, do a strong self-assessment, hone your skills and learn to spot an opportunity before anyone else does. Most importantly learn to take your skill set from a job and build a business for yourself. Multiply your potential by breaking your skill set into a portfolio of potential revenue for yourself. When anyone starts a business the key question to ask is, what problem am I solving for the customer? The basis of all businesses is that is a problem is being solved for a customer.
Paul Tasner loves talking about entrepreneurism, ageism, and sustainability and is now doing the most challenging and meaningful work of his life right - at the age of 72! But it took a big hiccup to allow that to occur. As with many things in life when something negative happens, like being fired from a decades long job, you can wallow in self pity, or treat that experience as a blessing in disguise which opens up many opportunities, if you allow yourself to see them, recognize them and take action as Paul did. He took a leap of faith. While his peers were contemplating retirement, he embraced the challenge of disrupting the traditional packaging industry and he had the credentials to do that. All facets of supply chain management had consumed 40 years of Paul’s life holding senior executive positions in packaging, manufacturing, and logistics in ventures ranging from start-up to Fortune 100. Appalled by the amount of plastic pollution on our planet and no longer content to accept the dangers of plastic packaging materials, – with a gentle push from a friend and colleague in Melbourne Australia, he took the leap, founding PulpWorks Inc (for info see the same named website). As CEO he set out to create safe, eco-friendly packaging for consumer products. The development of the Karta-Pack™ – a patented compostable replacement for the toxic and ubiquitous plastic blister pack – followed immediately. PulpWorks and Paul have been the recipients of 20 awards and the subject of more than 60 articles in the media. Paul was selected as a TED Resident in 2017.
For Marge Brown being a contributing Editor at PC Magazine prior to turning 50 and before that a twenty-year corporate career as a business/systems analyst you would think it’s time to take a break from working. But no! This avid, alert, agile mature preneur needed more to savour in life, more to do, more to keep the brain and body going and that’s what she did. When the real estate industry tanked in 2008, Marge and husband Bruce co-authored some personal development books, and grew a small network marketing team of fitness enthusiasts. But then Marge had a goal in mind to establish a new digital publishing business but she first wanted to learn all about advanced Internet marketing strategies and technology. She did that and is developing online courses and programs for aspiring freelance writers, plus she and Bruce are writing a business book for freelancers. With many young grandchildren in your life who would think of writing an adventure novel with one of them and publishing it too? Marge has with her 12-year-old grandson! Over the course of six months they worked virtually to write their novel, ‘The Jungle of Truth’, then put it on Amazon on his 12th birthday. It was such a fantastic experience for both of them Marge created an online course for other grandparents who want to do something similar with their grandchildren, ‘Write with a Young Author Challenge’. You can learn more listen to the podcast and go here: https://bit.ly/2HKxnoq The course consists of three modules, is easy to follow, and sets up a grandparent and grandchild to get inspired, bond in the process and have tons of fun.
Bryan Renslow found that! The death of a loved one creates a myriad of emotions for everyone affected. For Bryan recalling his Mother’s voice - the only recording he had was a brief one on the answering machine. He wanted to find a way to mitigate the pain of her loss. When the immediate shock dissipated he began to think how can he store memories, the treasures relating to his Mother that will allow other family and friends to also enjoy, perhaps even add to. An out-dated photo album was not a solution, and social media wasn’t either. That dilemma stayed with him until Bryan came up with the idea of creating Living Family History, a website to which others can add - an online home for families to store and share their experiences. But one major hurdle existed. Websites are very different from tiles and countertops - successful businesses that he had previously owned. By having to learn a new set of skills and find new experts to help him he learned websites are never truly finished, there’s always one more thing to fix, something to remove or add. Bryan’s natural perfectionism became a liability on this venture as he spent more time than expected watching YouTube tutorials learning how to build a website which is live now – everyone can help add to it livingfamilyhistory.com choose a package and use code Podsave20. During this process Bryan says big lessons he learned were: 1) assess yourself honestly, realistically, know when you need help, 2) visualize the final product, and 3) understand that energy is finite (pace yourself certainly when you’re a mature age person).
Dwayne Rowland says it’s intriguing how creative opportunities can occur in life yet few people take them up - unexpected opportunities, which can change your life if you grasp them. It all began with a casual conversation, between the CEO of a very well known international airline and Dwayne, a builder in Australia. Having no idea how to dispose of good but now unused uniforms, many corporations are in the same position as the airline CEO. Textiles are a major environmental problem. Dwayne’s fertile mind went into gear and soon he was talking with many different people and organisations about an idea he had and one key goal emerged, he had a vision where he wanted to create an infinite loop joining social and environmental issues, where the environment and everyone involved benefitted. Realising he needed a workforce to turn his idea into reality, this creative chap turned to groups who helped domestic violence victims, prisoners, and long term unemployed - all became involved, they were paid, and began feeling happier reconnecting with society. But one key part remained how to turn his first order of 15 tonnes of corporate uniforms into Teddy Bears for sick and needy children now. His workforce went into action and created the little teddy bears so anyone can buy a bear and change a life. You can learn more here www.bit.ly/buyabear That’s happened now but trying to keep up with the countless corporations who want their uniforms turned into teddy bears is difficult; larger equipment is needed plus an expanded workforce to make more Teddy Bears. This is a wonderful example and outcome to occur from a fleeting opportunity, a good lesson!
Barbera Aimes was a successful entrepreneur when a pesky cold turned into adrenal failure overnight. She almost died. Fighting for her life in intensive care the diagnosis came back: AIDS. How had a middle-aged woman, faithfully married for 18 years contracted AIDS? It wasn’t until two years later she discovered the answer, which shocked her to her core rocking her entire world. On a day they now both refer to as “truth day”, Barbera’s husband confessed it was his secret life that had brought the virus into the relationship almost killing his wife. While he was deflated in shame and humiliation she could barely contain her outrage, pain, and utter confusion. But something happened. She looked past her pain and saw the courage and deep love her husband had exhibited. Realizing that blame and resentment would only keep her from fulfilling the vision she had for her life and Barbera knew she had to find a way to forgive - herself, not him! Listen to this podcast to discover how they moved forward. It’s powerful. Their willingness to stay and work through the pain allowed them both to experience huge personal growth that led to re-discovering the love and connection they shared. In London for the 2012 Olympics Jill was moved by the manner in which the Olympics can inspire passion in a host nation. The effects of the global financial crisis were still being felt and it was tough for some families to fund their children’s sporting activities so she decided to create at first in the UK, ‘Inspire a Star’, a donation based platform to help fund children’s’ sporting dreams. That platform will be launched in Australia soon. In her prior work life Jill was a partner with KPMG, Deloitte and Andersen companies that offered Audit Tax & Advisory Services, as well as help companies transform their business models and take advantage of new market opportunities. Her background became a perfect fit, when in 2016 Jill realised she could help make many more things possible by becoming involved in crowd funding full-time. Moving into the start-up world as co-founder and CEO of ReadyFundGo, Australia’s reward based crowdfunding platform for business start-ups and community projects Jill is making a difference, with exciting projects soon coming on to the platform. Listeners can visit the website readyfundgo.com to learn more. This true mature entrepreneur acknowledges, as with any start up there are hurdles to handle, like not having the comfort of a large corporate life with the inbuilt infrastructure and support. For those wanting to create a new project, she has three tips, to create a mindset for a lifetime of continual learning; explore by taking action and getting involved, rather than sitting on the sidelines dreaming and planning, and enjoy the journey - be open to unexpected meetings along the way as you never know who could help you with your new venture – unexpected possibilities can occur.

Eddie Lees mind produced some insightful thoughts when he was coming out of an aesthetic - from drama to serious reality to very creative thinking and that’s when he conceived his new business idea of creating a ‘now sorted’ platform. Having been a superannuation consultant for years he knew his life had to change and he had to change his priorities. For anyone reaching the 50-age milestone, everyone needs to address his or her priorities in life and work suggests Eddie. Given Eddie’s emergency heart surgery he realised if he died, his wife would have no idea where all their very important documents were kept. Most people are in the same boat. He was undecided what to do so he started thinking, is there a problem I can solve, is there something I keep complaining about or others complain about that I could solve; is there an issue I can solve that will make a person’s life more simpler, or is there a way I can give back someway? All valuable questions, which helped Eddie resolve to develop a program into an online industrial-strength app for storing a person’s critical information plus it produces a Crucial Facts Report & Directory that integrates everything and summarises it in a few pages. There’s a 2 month free trial and useful checklists under Now Sorted dot com - Goodies, Knowledge Base and Useful downloads. The entire program is Australian based. Eddie’s tips for others is to remember it takes a long time to be an overnight success; that success is not a straight line and the value of a quiet walk where ‘listening’ is paramount.
Stepping out of a long corporate career can free the mind of mental clutter and allow you to find or come across other interesting opportunities. Lisa Sweeney did that and stumbled across Business in Heels, now a very successful women’s networking business. An organisation that won’t have a glass ceiling,” thought Lisa, the more she looked into it the more it appealed. First she bought a couple of franchises and ran events for a year Then, seeing potential to grow the business further, as well as the sense of fulfilment she derived from helping other women succeed in business, Lisa was inspired to buy the company. So she did with her business partner, Jo Plummer. Having made that move into her own business Lisa is finding many women are frustrated with their ability to make a difference and is why they are setting up their own business. The corporate world are losing a very large pool of talented women says Lisa. Now the partners get to provide support by helping women market and brand their own businesses helping them to break free from being mere so-low-preneurs and enabling them to flourish. This deeper level of human engagement drives Lisa who says she is blessed to be able to learn so much from every woman she meets. With overseas branches and 40 locations in Australia women are keen to be a part of the collaborative community. Lisa’s advice for future female leaders is to give it a go and take a risk, and be prepared to learn on the job just as she did.
Ludwina Dautovic definitely has! Ludwina feels while her latest entrepreneurial project is one that will not be her greatest achievement but it is the one that will have the biggest impact on a global scale. But with one kidney down and out and then 8 years later being clear of the ‘nasties’, that entire experience, as with many major health challenges can become a massive benchmark in terms of knowing what you can survive, achieve and create in terms of new beginnings, new niche projects. Despite many years being involved in entrepreneurial endeavors Ludwina decided just before her 50th birthday ‘The Room Xchange’ was her big kahuna - her website is the same name. Given just in Australia there are over 7 million spare bedrooms in Australia lying idle Ludwina definitely found a niche. The statistics for the world are astronomical. But being investor ready and raising capital are definitely the two most difficult challenges for a small business, major difficulties even pleasant surprises occur also. Part of the sharing economy where money is paid for a room and short terms stays, the Room Xchange is about exchanging a persons time for the value of food and accommodation for mid to long term living arrangements, not short term holidays. Listen to this Podcast on this niche, what the room xchange is but most importantly it's a wonderful example of suddenly experiencing a major health challenge to surviving and how to move forward with wonderful energy, vision and direction. Anyone can do that.
Ronan Leonard understands risk and reward where your true value lies in what you put your time and money into (but not gambling). Learning that while being paid to travel the world and meet 2000 people each week, he started a small business managing 2 casino tables, yet Ronan was just 23 when the cruise ship he was working on began to sink off the wild coast of South Africa. The Captain and most crew deserted leaving him to help rescue passengers and fellow staff. Undaunted he continued working on cruise ships as a casino manager then went on to manage over 50 casino tables becoming the largest gaming events company in Australia. Understanding the benefit of connecting to a tribe, which didn’t exist on that sinking cruise ship, he transitioned into another world and is why now Ronan is obsessed with connecting small business owners together to collaborate. Believing 99% of business problems are solved if you connect to a tribe he created a virtual or online Mastermind platform via his eccountability.io Joining a tribe can help you accelerate your learning and progress as there is more value in making real peer-to-peer connections than paying external contractors who do not have a vested interest in your success. True to his ethos of collaboration Ronan is giving away 1 in 6 spots on his Mastermind platform to social enterprise business owners or entrepreneurs, it’s part of the Noble Founder movement of people that are creating businesses that are more about community and not focused solely on profit.
At 69, Susan Goldfein regularly asked those questions, despite having retired with a doctorate in Speech Pathologist, which had afforded her a successful career as a clinician, adjunct professor, and consultant. For any newly retired people those questions do pop up. When you have no idea what to do with your life going forward, taking some time to explore YOU, your passions, loves, dislikes and skills it’s worth every second you do that. Then at 77 having authored an award-winning book entitled “How Old Am I In Dog Years: And Other Thoughts About Life From The Far Side of the Hill” she occasionally asks what the heck am I doing? Why not sit in a beach chair doing a puzzle, but then reminds herself of the many new life benefits she’s gained –plenty - having fun, enjoying positive feedback, and challenging her mind, as well, she is a sought after speaker with a large following on social media. Susan’s story is a good example of ‘you never know where your passion make take you – so just jump in and do yours ... with passion, plus hear other tips in this Podcast. There are a lot of candles on my cake, says Susan, and her mind is still sharp to come up with the words to comment on the ironies of life.

As a veterinarian, Dr Gelderman’s journey started with his clients and team telling him was an atrocious communicator and now he teaches others how to improve their influence and impact by mastering the art of communication. What did he do to transform himself? The criticism Dr Gelderman received didn’t sit well and this became the catalyst to immerse himself in studying the science of communication and non-verbal communication. Doing so enabled Diederik to turn his practice into a highly successful business winning two major awards. He went on to train other veterinarians how to build successful practices, including overseas. Keen to study more about non-verbal language, a strong form of communication he became one of two certified body language trainers in Australia and the only Big 5 certified personality trainer.
Launching Body Language Australia (with a website of the same name) he now works with individuals, small and large organisations and groups who want to improve their impact and their influence. In this Podcast Dr Gelderman offers practical tips to easily implement two being with the hands, but there are numerous insights into body language since 60% of our communication occurs is non-verbal. Whenever we ‘pitch’ ourselves for a date, to a friend, to a bank or other organisation, for a job, to our kids, the biggest difference between success and failure comes from the non-verbal, which is a skill that’s easily learned. His website has numerous free videos. There’s much more in this podcast which is a must listen, because it’s a powerful example of turning a distressing negative into a powerful positive.
In Part I, Tony White talked about working all his life as an award-winning director, animator, teacher and author but at the age of 70 he decided to take all the skills he accumulated in the animation industry over many decades to see where that exploration might take him. Tony‘s other ‘love’ was astrology, but not the standard 'prediction', 'fortune-telling,' 'Star Sign' kind of astrology that we usually see. Instead it is deep, transformative, life-changing kind of serious astrology that doesn't normally get mentioned but this very creative gentleman does just that in this podcast – he discusses how the astrology aspect of his life emerged and developed to where it is today, the breadth, and scope of this perhaps transformative astrology.
At 70, Tony decided to come out of the astrological closet and share his stories, knowledge and experiences with the world. Listen to the podcasts for the actual addresses of his websites startoonz and mystarchild. The second site focuses on the parents of young children, and how they might better bring up their kids in a way that enables the child to reach it’s hidden potential, using astrological wisdom and guidance. Tony acknowledges, there are people who are ‘turned off’ on this form of astrology, but he asks – do you have a short time to read and learn something real and true? Those who do, change their quizzical questions quickly after learning the serious beneficial side of this extraordinary topic. His book available online on Lulu, ‘The Secret Life of Stars’ will open your mind and those who have read it understand and realize how this form of astrology is incredibly powerful.
As an animator, award-winning director, teacher and author Tony White reached the age of 70 and decided to take the skills he accumulated for decades in the animation industry and focus on another love - astrology! But this is not the standard 'prediction', 'fortune-telling,' 'Star Sign' kind of astrology but a deep, transformative, life-changing kind of serious astrology that doesn't normally get mentioned let alone discussed. Life takes twists and turns and for Tony a remarkable Irish herbalist/astrologer, who basically healed his mother when all the doctors and hospitals had given up on her, sparked his intense interest. The man saved her life, her recovery was miraculous, as the Herbalist used astrology to diagnose, treat and counsel his Mother through her healing process. That incited Tony’s curiosity and desire to learn this form of astrology, and for several years so he studied with the Irish herbalist/astrologer. Years later fearing ridicule this animator hid his interest from everyone in the animation industry but arriving at the age of 70, Tony decided to come out of the astrological closet and share his stories, knowledge and experiences with the world, creating a number of initiatives. Listen to the two podcasts for the addresses plus much more on this fascinating discussion. Tony acknowledges there are people who just walk away, turn off, are not interested in the words and thoughts he writes and talks about but he asks – do you have a short time to read and learn something real and true? LISTEN TO Part II of this interview for a more expanded discussion on the serious aspect of astrology.
Benjamin Oxley was a Professional Opera Singer for 30 years singing alongside Andrea Bocelli and Tony Bennett and many other well known operatic stars, but there comes a time when another direction beckons. This was the case for Benjamin. When many people approach 50 or when a time, place and career needs rethinking, what do you? Look at your passions even those when you were young. What steps do you take, how do you decide what’s next? Ben’s approach was practical, which he suggests others do when in the same position. Talk and Talk, do an appraisal of what you do, what you love, and what others have suggested, then go away for a few days, get clarity. For Ben, he came across his ‘sweet spot’ drawing on event management, performing experience, compassion and much more.
That spot landed firmly on a much needed service and business where rarely families pre-plan not only their funeral or loved ones funeral but the more difficult choice of music until one or two days before it’s all required – all of which compounds the feelings of grief and stress. Out of that Ben developed his business Celebrating Life in Music (see website) but he helps even more by using his operatic skills. For those starting a new venture Ben suggests looking at whether you are creating a new business, or a 'service' – in his case he wanted to convey he provides a compassionate and professional consultancy. For the Opera Singer turned creator of Celebrations of Life In Music for Funerals, Ben loves what he now does, and feels wonderful about helping people, plus he says his life is better organized and joyful.
Elly Johnson had a fascination with uncovering the truth started as a rookie policewoman at 22 when she discovered the importance of having skills to effectively evaluate the truthfulness and credibility of the information received.
Elly Johnson’s strong interest led her to create a business in 2001 that teaches people involved in high stake situations to distinguish between truth and lies when it matters most, and it did with law enforcement officers, intelligence agents, security assessors and high-level business people. Now she helps singles on the dating scene avoid the hazards of lies and deception in their search for true love.
Like many in their midlife, Elly viewed approaching 50 as an opportunity to overhaul herself and her life – it can become a distinctive turning point. For her it certainly was, where health, fitness, moving states, changing her name, a new man all became integral to those changes as was rebranding her business and learning how to overcome her fear of presenting on camera. Doing that allowed Elly to create and present new training programs for people who would benefit from her wealth of knowledge in the field of truth, lies and human behavior.
Some techniques are used by intelligence agents, but blended into her programs they help people learn how to encourage more truth, build confidence, ask better questions and spot signs of harmful deception even on a date or early in a relationship. Final tips for listeners, when you’re passionate about a topic go after it, or if you want to change your life remove the naysayers from your life.
Sandy Sanderson suffered a health crash due to the stress of the GFC in 2008. After a severe event that hospitalised her, she was told by her cardiologist, there were no drug solutions for people with her heart arrhythmia, adrenal fatigue, hypothyroid and ‘electrical system’ issues, and that these electrical system glitches were very common problems for people around the world. He told her to just, “put up with it like everyone else.”
Sandy took up the challenge to find a natural solution and immersed herself into books and studies about the body’s electrical system. During her research she uncovered a plethora of documented medical research – much of which addressed one key link, yet that information was not widely publicised so she was determined to change that to allow others to also benefit.
What was the key link? All paths pointed to magnesium as the fundamental master mineral that is essential for electrical system regulation and heart rhythm. Sandy also found that transdermal magnesium chloride offered the best results in calming inflammation and stabilising the electrical system. She was able to recover and normalise her heart rhythm without the use of drugs, and of course without any negative side effects.
Sandy and her husband, a qualified food chemist, directed their energies into developing a range of natural magnesium body care products called Elektra Magnesium which offer superior magnesium uptake quickly. Listen to this podcast for more about this fascinating topic.

Dr Letitia Wright says the over 50s have the knowledge, the network and wisdom to support Crowd Funding! You make great decisions and people know you can make it work. To achieve that however, the over 50s, in fact most people, need a better understanding of how Crowdfunding works. Why, because now it’s a massive industry raking in billions of dollars, in 2015 alone $36 billion dollars changed hands through Crowd Funding campaigns. Three years later the figures are even more staggering.
Having been named in the 100 Crowdfunding Experts list for the last 3 years in a row Dr Wright says with 6 different kinds of crowd funding in existence, and all having their own rules and guidelines and all catering to differing audiences, understandably the subject can be very confusing. Why all because of Alicia’s voice. Singing to school children while driving a New York City school bus, driver Alicia “Reygn” Patterson had the children transfixed, under control and in awe of her voice and the words she sang. Pretty soon the children started signing too. But then suddenly all NY City bus drivers were laid off.
Terrified for a while, the mother of 5 prayed “Lord if you have a plan for me would you do me a favor and let me in on it?” The next morning she woke up writing children’s songs, but with a twist, in the education genre. She went on to write a musical to showcase the songs and casting it soon realized there was a market for what she was doing.
In 2014 she started “Sound Through Music” with a goal to teach science with the aid of music to children. She pinned the hit play “At The Wave” that has played all over NYC including BAM and Off Broadway. Alicia has become a play-write, TV producer and a published author in this genre of media.
Introducing the principles of sound then song to children while still young, the belief is this helps to encourage science awareness because they learn about sound waves, sound vibrations, amplitude and frequency. Plus they also learn the importance of sound and how it affects our everyday lives. Alicia and her team at Sound Through Music (see website in same name) believe that anything can be taught and understood when spoken to the children’s level. Not only will the students have lots of fun, but more importantly, they will learn.

Don Allison Says what awaits us after death is mankind’s greatest unanswered question.
Until his 50s Don didn’t pay much attention to death. But after purchasing a historic house and having continual, intelligent contact with apparent spirits – and having similar encounters at the historic Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Don realized he had a calling to explore life beyond our earthly existence and to share his findings with the world.
What awaits us after death is perhaps mankind’s greatest unanswered question, one more pressing as we age. As it turns out, what follows our life on this earth isn’t a total mystery. The answers – at least some of them – are there if we pay attention.
Exploring the paranormal enthralled this award-winning journalist, and he soon learned that paranormal simply means beyond normal explanation. As a long time publisher of history books, at 57, Don semi-retired as a daily newspaper editor to delve into this intriguing topic. His initial book on the topic is “I Met a Ghost at Gettysburg: A Journalist’s Journey Into the Paranormal,” and he is now working on a follow-up.
Initially facing the fear of rejection and ridicule when he wrote about and began lecturing on the paranormal Don began to find most people are open to the idea of a form of life after death. Many people have had their own paranormal experiences, and since Don has explored this topic so deeply he’s helped others realize what happened to them is real, and they’re not crazy. Listeners can learn more at imetaghost.com. Realising we are connected with those who went before, and that they can teach and even entertain us, Don is now on an exciting new journey - where that’s heading ... only time will tell.

Robert Dickison says running had been an integral part of his adult life and now at 74 it certainly hasn’t stopped him even if it's a run of 100 miles. From working at a mine way out in the desert of northern Australia to returning to the Gold Coast, then getting on a plane bound for New Zealand to run 100 miles, then returning the same way he came, none of that phased him - stopped him.
Earlier on in New Zealand, Robert owned running shops, which was the centre of his universe, so when he and his partner moved to Australia his passion for running has continued. So what’s his secret to achieving such a physical goal despite the odds? It’s mental. It’s your thinking yet many people reaching 50 allow a switch to be turned on that says life is downhill from now on. However for Robert it’s the total opposite. He loves to help others to keep going, keeping at it at your level, but all the while congratulating yourself for doing that. As each day passes doing just a little more within a few weeks, your brain is firing, your energy and vitality better, your thinking clearer and the benefits of being outside can’t be underestimated.
To keep that momentum Robert and his partner set up Mojo runners.com and a group facebook.com/mojorunners to help runners, joggers or walkers around the world keep a record of their activity in the 2018 Runners Diary. Robert’s message to keep on going is clear, it’s hard to beat a person who never gives up – that applies to many areas of life, just walk, jog or run a little more and walk a little less.

From Bernice notes
Now at 58 on the edge of an abyss having arrived in another country with my partner, plus 4 suitcases, $5000 dollars were about to venture into the unknown and start over again.
Having lost everything, home, business, investment properties and in debt for $50k it was frightening. The unknown always is daunting. With no prospects of any work we had to stay with my daughter because we simply couldn’t afford to rent.
Oscillating from feeling completely numb and in shock then switching to anger, fear, shame, guilt and grief, I definitely played the blame game, as I simply couldn’t bear to take responsibility for where I found myself.
Anxiety and depression were my closest friends, so I withdrew from my family, into my own sad world, which I said earlier, wasn’t the first time I found myself in a similar position.
One major distinction was glaring at me.
I had never been without a home or income. Could things get worse? Oh hell yes!
Too many people are suffering in silence says Cynthia Jones. Each of us have different struggles but the will to survive is in all of us, although sometimes it is a bit hard to muster up, yet it will emerge, just allow it to.
Surviving four open-heart surgeries was the greatest battle of her life. Out of ‘commission’ for many years the second major battle was finding her way back into the ministry and business, which meant basically starting over again. Often overcoming big challenges can open up new doors because you see things differently. You are refreshed and have a good story to tell, with an unrelenting determination to succeed. This was the case with Cynthia Jones, an author and preacher.
Throughout this podcast Cynthia talks about how strong we all are, surprisingly so and by being tenacious you can move forward mentally and physically. In fact you want to say goodbye to being tired and unwell. And you can. No one can do that for you; you need to do it within you or even with the help from your own mental cheerleader.
After a tough phase in life, it’s a time when people often turn to creating, and for Cynthia writing her first book ‘Destined Even Though You've Been Delayed,’ was her creative outlet. You can learn more here: cee-jayministries.org An inspirational book she wanted to inspire others to find the strength within to overcome any adversity. As well, her book also encourages people to go after their dreams without fear, by staying focused on where they are going, and importantly NOT where they've been. Filled with famous quotes, Cynthia says, as long as you're still breathing, your destiny is still within your reach.
Debbie Anderson, is a Clairvoyant Medium who now lives in Canada says ‘You are never too old to follow your dream, never too old to start over – never!’ And if you do feel old it’s in your thinking and you can definitely change that.
These are wise words coming from the natural healer, who has worked in the magical world of spirituality for a mighty long time. Often known as the woman who talks to ‘dead people’ Debbie learned early on she had gifts, which at times people thought strange.
Overcoming those ‘naysayers’ she felt a deep urge to explore the world of spirituality, as it related to herself, that way she could help others along the way. She has done just that, helping clients around the world have conversations with their now deceased relatives, which is an inherent skill - a gift.
But producing a range of products like Oracle Decks was a big challenge for her, but having overcome that challenge these are now sold all over the world. Along her pathway this natural healer developed a modality called Vibrational Energy Therapy, which Debbie teaches to others around the world but in a class environment.
You can learn more on the website Vibrational Energy Oracle Deck which presents down to earth explanations and guidance to tap the wisdom of your own intuition.

The video Luanne Hunt made for it has nearly 300,000 YouTube views and thousands of shares on social media sites.

Dedicating the second half of her life to demystifying emotions Joie teaches women and men how to utilize them as a powerful tool for creating success in their career and personal life. Her recently published book, “EMOTIONS: an Owner’s Manual” can be found on most major book sites.
Whether it stems from a larger conflict, a difficult relationship, or a bad boss, so much stress and pain people experience in their lives, especially in relationships, stems from a common issue – the lack of understanding and skill in handling one’s emotions.
Over time Joie Seldon developed a system of teaching people how to experience, understand and express their feelings successfully. She is a trainer, speaker, author and leadership coach and her new book Emotions is without doubt an ‘owner’s manual’.
Yvonne Heath became disheartened by society’s reluctance to talk about, plan and prepare for grief and how it causes excessive suffering, not only at the end of life. Grief is experienced throughout life as a result of many different life experiences which is why people need a way to be more comfortable not only reading about it but dealing with it too. Learning to talk about it is also a critical positive step forward.
Suffering at an early age Yvonne worked on herself until she felt ‘it’s time for a change,’ and at the age of 50, took a leap of faith, leaving her long time nursing career to start a new trail to help create a culture of change.
Asking herself several questions Yvonne thought, ‘ what if we planned our lives instead of just going through the motions’; what if we learned about grief, before grief happens so we could learn how to diffuse the fear?
When we learn to talk about and plan for grief, something amazing happens. We live more fully and we suffer less at the end of our lives. Our loved ones and workplaces suffer less and are able to move through their grief.
Yvonne encourages people to go to her Facebook and Twitter pages where they can share their stories. To keep reminding yourself about this very important experience called grief Yvonne created a bracelet that you can get on her I Just Showed Up link or at loveyourlifetodeath.com
Grief is a part of life; divorce, diagnosis, job loss and yes…end of life. But we can learn to show up for ourselves, and each other so we are empowered and resilient when grief arrives.
Clyde McCulley was the director of a School of Art and Arts Institute and was a Professor of art for several Colleges but after 20 years he left and discovered he had a goal of changing his life perhaps graphically using the written word but in the form of writing and publishing.
Having always used painting and photography as his creative outlet personally and professionally, Clyde had the urge to try a new way of creating. His children had been asking him to write a book about the stories he had told them when they were children.
In his late seventies, that is what this creative gentleman decided to do, and is now loving every minute of it beginning with writing about his childhood growing up. ‘The Boy on Shady Grove Road’ was the result. The last of six kids in a poor family, in a poor community, on a poor farm, with poor soil in the backwoods of Arkansas following World War II in the 1950s in the segregated South his creative endeavours with words flourished. Clyde is now writing more books and found this endeavour enormously fulfilling and with his website he is receiving hundreds of emails from people keen to know more ‘real’ stories and learn how to do the same. Clyde’s website name mamaswhitegravy is a wonderful story about his Grandma.
Throughout the interview guest Clyde and Host Diana discuss how to write a book when you don’t know how to write one, as well there are many wonderful tips for would be writers and is why this Podcast is well worth listening to.
Jennifer Jefferies says one word can change a life, and it did for her. Preventing Burnout in the Workplace had been the focus for Naturopath and author Jennifer Jefferies for 18 years until one single word changed that. That one word piqued her curiosity so intensely that at 49 (7 years ago) Jen decided to seriously research the word Crone.
During that research Jen says she was horrified to see pictures and descriptions of old haggard, witchy looking women. These images caused such curiosity that Jen began travelling extensively exploring non-western countries where the 50 plus women, were and are the Crone.
Succinctly described as the wise women, and most respected people in the village, it’s a view that has been lost in the western world, which is why Jen decided to re-define the Crone.
In the western world women over 50 and beyond are not celebrated or respected, rather many become ‘lost souls,’ souls full of wisdom and knowledge that can be and needs to be released. These women can if they work on 5 key areas of themselves, which Jennifer addresses.
Known as The Present Day Wise Woman, Jen speaks internationally on the topic, helping women "Find their voices, their ultimate health and their "What's Next" in the 2nd and 3rd act of their lives. You can learn more here: www.jenniferjefferies.com
It’s time for ‘The Present Day Wise Woman’ to blossom, come forth, find their life balance and Jen is certainly leading the way showing women how. Her Motto is “Imagine Thriving instead of just Surviving,” a goal, which every woman can achieve.

Jim Sweeney says sports are universal which few would doubt. This Mature Preneur, has crafted a digital innovation to become the first universal animated brand in sports and Trademarked MIKE the cartoon sports character.
Sports transcends religion, cuts through cultural ties, eludes ethnicity, ignores bank account balances and fails to distinguish between sex, weight, age and even familial allegiance.
Describing how Mike the Cartoon sports character came, about makes fascinating listening.
Jim's 'property' has enjoyed an incredible start in digital media, despite only been going for a few years. In addition to penning 900 + blogs, Jim has published 40 MIKE Sport Comic Books. You can learn more about his publications at www.theemike.com Eloquent and witty, the 60 year-old Sweeney still participates in sports (slowly!) as a Masters athlete and serves as the Head of USA and as an international board member for FIMBA, which runs masters basketball tournaments around the world.
Utilizing his lifetime experiences in sports and business was a catalyst to bring the MIKE cartoon sports character to life and develop MIKE, into a sports and cultural icon. Here Jim steps aside and offers tips for listeners who are wondering what they could do next as such he offers a great advice.
Best About Sports is a book Jim wrote and says it's informative and witty. Fans not will only enjoy the humour, but also learn something new about sports history. Plus, the unique sports comics that accompany each chapter cleverly capture the essence of the featured player, team, coach, play, sports expression, or in this case, what Jim finds best about sports. A final word from Jim Sweeney is this: Add years to your life by adding life to your years.
Suz Slater said realising her whole life and business had revolved around her husband / partner for 27 years, brought her to an abrupt stop. Shocked at what she discovered she began wondering about her own future beyond 50. Having successfully bought and sold apartments with her husband, the couple began travelling to Bali regularly. One thing stood out for the soon to be single mature woman.
Over the years, Suz had met a lot of women who were either married (husband preferred to stay home) widowed or divorced who loved to travel and when she mentioned a concept of doing personalised women only tours, small groups, under ten not the usual 20 people tour groups, the response she received was resoundingly positive.
Unlike many people who are facing 50, 60 and beyond who worry about their future, for Suz knew instinctively this was the direction she was meant to go in. It felt right. Everything seemed to fall into place. She listened to her instinct, never questioning it, Suz says she felt 'this was her destiny,' so she started to form a team to help her and with that her passion and venture began,'Safe Travel Tours.'
Specialising in 35 plus single women fully escorted all-inclusive tours to Bali, Suz was convinced this would take her intoretirement, with the right people her team. Constantly focusing on safety for women, today there are special tours and she says her motto is: "If
you like singing in the rain, drinking champagne then come dance with us!"

Phil De Luca discusses how can communication approaches decrease or increase inflammation of the body as well as the mind? That’s a curious question and one that you wouldn’t necessarily consider. But Phil De Luca does. How do you teach people to stop talking in order to communicate better, heal their relationships and even their health?
Phil Deluca does just that and discusses in part why he does this, and how in fact what caused him to become interested in this process.
Known as the Un-TalkTM Therapist and Un-TherapyTM, Phil first became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Providing psychotherapy over 40 years ago, he quickly realized that the ‘Express Yourself” communication approaches were creating more, than less conflict.
As a result, he dedicated himself to finding out why emotional catharsis efforts weren’t working. Along with his multi-decade journey, he turned to the latest body and brain science to upgrade the outdated ‘Express Yourself,” the feelings model that was developed in the 60’s. He became his own guinea pig and eventually, a successful case study.
Phil had health problems and in looking for a cure he discovered that inflammation was at the root of all disease. He then saw how the ‘Express yourself” communication approaches, which are accepted as “settled science”, actually increases inflammation of the body as well as the mind. What he learned was that unfiltered communication was pushing couples into the “Dead Zone” – the place where there is no caring left in their relationship. So he developed an alternative communication approach that teaches people how to not talk about their problems when they are upset. His approach is easy to understand, implement and brings immediate improvement in people’s communication, relationship and even their health.

Elizabeth Rentz says starting over are two tantalizing words that can either threaten or excite anyone thinking about making a change in their life but more so for those who are boomers or seniors. This was the case for Elizabeth. At 68 Elizabeth was suffering from severe pain in her shoulder and arm, which caused her to remain in bed. She couldn’t ‘stir a pot of water, more importantly she said not even open a bottle of wine.
Hard decisions needed to be made. She closed her successful bank recruiting firm of 10 years which provided her with financial security so taking a bit step to shut it down caused severe stress.
As Elizabeth said, “Her soul was telling her to ‘Fly’ yet she was stuck inside her body and mind with severe limiting beliefs which affects so many people. What happened from here on is makes for fascinating listening, because Elizabeth decided to reinvent herself, something which many over 50’s long to do but are too frightened to do. As Elizabeth say it’s all about mindset.
Today, using a fresh perspective on the blending of how our brains work and how we can influence our behaviour Elizabeth leads an audience to take action in their lives. Having reinvented she is now an author, transition coach, and motivating professional speaker, and founder of Break Through Your Way™, a company that is focused on personal and professional development.
Life is full of crazy life changing situations, which can be positively turned around. Listen to the podcast to find out where you can register for Elizabeth’s Break Through Your Way newsletter.
Claudia Braun talks about the gremlins in her closet. Discussing her messed up relationship with food from about 10 years old, Claudia says food was a place she ‘hid out,’ it was her private world, food kept her feeling safe and protected but it also prevented her from putting herself out into the world. That place of using food had her feeling not good about herself and the more she ate the worse she felt. As she got older it consumed her, from trying to fix her problem or being caught up in the problem. Claudia said there’s a quote by Albert Einstein that says, ‘The mind that caused the problem, cannot fix the problem.’ This made her think. So how did Claudia transition from where she was? ‘I got to the place where I was sick and tired of my story sick and tired of doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.’ Then an incident occurred that changed her life. She looked around to see who could help her situation and found a great professional who helped her albeit slowly and every step along the way Claudia felt better about herself she wanted to share that with others. When she turned 50 Claudia decided ‘ From now on I want to be committed to me’. So her life progressed to today. Claudia is now helping others to clear through some of the clutter in their head. She says all these ideas and beliefs can take you off being your best self and a most alive being. In Living Your Best Self By Going Within, you’ll have the tools to start putting you at the centre of your life and being more present and available to those you care about and love.
At the end of the podcast Claudia provides you with a link for 7 Days To Feeling Fabulous Everyday.

Cheryl discusses her experience with toxins, stress and other things like sugar to how today she is assisting other over 50’s suffering with chronic pain.
With an inquisitive mind Cheryl began her get-well journey where she found a functional Doctor, and learned about “leaky gut” caused by toxins, stress, and other things, like sugar.
