Have you ever felt lonely while standing in a room full of people?

In this solo mini episode (which is ironically about isolation 😂), I share just a little of my own journey of quietly pulling back, hiding behind the title of "pastor's wife," and believing the lie that she didn't need to take the first step toward community. Be reminded that isolation doesn't always mean being alone it can happen while sitting right in the middle of church. If you've ever struggled to find your place in ministry, this episode is for you.

Welcome to Season 2 of The Pastor Wife Life! In this first episode, I thought the best way to introduce myself would be to bring on someone who knows me better than anyone else, my husband, Jimmy.

Together, we share a little about our family, how we met, our journey through ministry, and the heart behind this podcast. We also talk about ministry life from a pastor's perspective, ways wives can encourage their husbands, and what we hope pastor wives will find in this community.

Jimmy won't be a regular guest, but I wanted you to get to know us, our story, and our hearts before we dive into future conversations. Whether you've been a pastor's wife for years or you're just beginning the journey, we're so glad you're here.

Welcome to The Pastor Wife Life!

Trusting God in Every Season

Some stories just stay with you—and this one will.

In this episode of The Pastor Wife Life Podcast, I sat down with Shannon, whose journey took her from college in Canada to living in a dangerous region of Colombia as a missionary’s wife. In the middle of uncertainty, she experienced God’s protection, provision, and power in ways that forever shaped her faith.

But what impacted me most wasn’t just what God did there—it was what came after.

When Shannon and her husband returned to the States, ministry looked very different. The urgency and intensity were gone, and in their place were quieter, more ordinary seasons—ones that felt harder in a different way.

And yet, God was just as present.

Through the ups and downs, Shannon learned that faithfulness isn’t just about the big, life-changing moments. It’s about showing up in the everyday, even when it feels unseen.

If you’re in a hard or quiet season of ministry, this is your reminder:

God is with you there, too.

You don’t have to carry the weight of expectations. You don’t have to prove your worth. Just stay rooted, stay faithful, and let Him pour back into you.

Kristen Smith’s journey into ministry is anything but typical. She didn’t grow up in church, and neither she nor her husband were believers when they got married. But during a really difficult season in their marriage, everything changed. In a moment of complete surrender, Kristen cried out to God—and what followed was a powerful transformation in their lives, their marriage, and their faith.

Just a few years later, they’ve stepped into ministry together, now serving in a small town in Kansas. What’s so encouraging about Kristen’s story is that she didn’t feel ready or equipped—she simply chose to be obedient. And that’s where so many of us find ourselves too.

If you’ve ever felt unqualified or unsure in your role as a pastor’s wife, let this encourage you: God isn’t looking for perfection—He’s looking for surrender. When we say yes to Him, even in our weakness, He equips us for exactly what He’s called us to do.

Ministry is sacred. It’s beautiful. It’s powerful.

But so is your marriage.

In this solo episode, I’m sharing practical encouragement about protecting your marriage in the middle of ministry life. Because if we’re not intentional, the very calling God placed on our lives can slowly begin to erode the covenant He gave us first.

Your marriage is not secondary to ministry.
It’s foundational to it.

If you’ve ever felt the pressure of leadership, the weight of expectations (spoken and unspoken), or the constant pull of being “on call,” this episode is for you.

In This Episode, We Talk About:

  • Why marriage must come before ministry
  • The subtle ways ministry can overtake your relationship
  • How to guard your time together (even in busy seasons)
  • Becoming your husband’s safe place
  • Setting healthy, biblical boundaries with the church
  • Processing ministry challenges wisely
  • Warning signs that ministry may be overtaking your marriage
  • Why protecting your marriage is stewardship—not selfishness

4 Practical Ways to Protect Your Marriage

1. Guard Your Time Together

If you don’t schedule connection, it won’t happen.
Protect date nights, family dinners, vacations, and simple moments of laughter and conversation.

2. Be His Safe Place

Your husband carries a heavy leadership load. Let home feel like refuge—not evaluation. Ask how you can pray for him. Listen without always correcting. Protect tenderness and unity.

3. Set Clear Boundaries

Not every request requires a yes.
Not every text requires an immediate response.
Boundaries are wisdom, not unspiritual.

4. Process Ministry Wisely

Guard confidentiality. Protect unity.
If you need to process something difficult, choose one mature, trusted, biblically grounded person—not an audience.

Warning Signs to Watch For

  • You only talk about church
  • You feel more like coworkers than companions
  • You’re more patient with church members than with your husband
  • Quiet resentment is growing

A Truth to Remember

Calling cannot replace covenant.

A healthy marriage strengthens ministry far more than constant availability ever will.

Protecting your marriage is not selfish.
It’s wise.
It’s biblical.
It’s necessary.

Life is hard, and rushing through it only causes us to miss what God is doing right in front of us. In this episode, Amanda Ball-Knight shares why staying present—especially in both joy and sadness—matters more than having life perfectly planned. This conversation is an invitation to slow down, embrace the moment God has you in, and learn to dwell fully in the life you’re living.

Have you ever felt like you’ve lost yourself somewhere in the middle of ministry?

In this episode of The Pastor Wife Life Podcast, Jacque sits down with Carrie Brown — a pastor’s wife and licensed marriage and family therapist — for an honest, hope-filled conversation about identity, mental health, boundaries, and what it looks like to dwell in who God says you are.

Together, they talk about:

  • Why so many pastor’s wives struggle with people-pleasing and imposter syndrome
  • The difference between striving to meet expectations and resting in God’s truth
  • How faith and therapy work together in healing
  • Setting biblical boundaries without guilt
  • Learning to ask, “Who told you that?” when lies and self-criticism creep in

If you’re feeling unseen, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you are beyond your role, this episode is an invitation to slow down, lean in, and remember that God hasn’t lost you — and your identity is secure in Christ.

It’s choosing to remember who God is, even in the middle of them.

In Day 9 of the Pastor Wife Life 2026 Reset, we talk about how gratitude shifts the atmosphere, realigns your heart, and becomes spiritual warfare when life feels heavy.

Pause today. Look for the small things. And let thankfulness anchor your soul.

Reset Your Vision for 2026 ✨

Vision isn’t about doing more—it’s about aligning your heart with God.

In Day 8 of the Pastor Wife Life 2026 Reset, we pause to seek God’s vision for you—not just for your church or your husband, but for who He’s shaping you to become in this next season.

Reflection Questions:
• Who is God asking you to become in 2026?
• How does God see you in this next season?
• What rhythms do you need to cultivate?
• Where do you sense God leading you?
• What needs to shift, soften, strengthen, begin, or end?

Take a quiet moment, pray, listen, and write down what God places on your heart—a word, scripture, or invitation for the year ahead.

Let’s be real—making and maintaining friendships as a pastor’s wife can be one of the hardest parts of ministry life. Loneliness is real, and finding your people isn’t always as easy as it sounds, especially when you’re living in a small town, raising little ones, or trying to navigate the unique role of being the pastor’s wife.

In this episode of The Pastor Wife Life Podcast, I’m joined by Bre Dickson, who’s back to share her journey of learning how to build authentic friendships in the middle of ministry. We talk about expectations, awkward beginnings, the loneliness that sometimes lingers, and the beauty of finding community in surprising places—like with someone decades older than you, or at the gym with toddlers underfoot.

Whether you’re in a season of rich relationships or struggling to connect, Bre’s insight will encourage you to give yourself grace, shift your perspective, and keep looking for the friendships God is preparing just for you.

Ministry life is full of both joys and challenges, and sometimes those challenges come from unexpected places. In this episode, Sarah Hutchinson shares how her faith has carried her through not only the day-to-day demands of being a pastor’s wife but also through one of the most difficult seasons of her life—when her daughter experienced a serious accident.

Her story is one of perseverance, trust in God, and learning to find balance in the midst of it all.

Walking Through the Storm

Sarah’s life was turned upside down when her daughter was involved in a life-altering accident. As she recounted the story, you could hear both the pain and the gratitude in her voice.

“It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced,” Sarah shared. “But it was also when I felt God’s presence the most.”

The accident forced her family to slow down, reassess their priorities, and lean on their faith like never before. It wasn’t easy, but it became a pivotal moment in Sarah’s ministry and personal life.

Finding Balance Amid the Unexpected

Through the challenges that came with her daughter’s recovery, Sarah learned to balance her roles as a mother, a wife, and a pastor’s wife.

“There were days I felt like I was failing at everything,” she admitted. “But God kept reminding me that I didn’t have to do it all on my own. He was with me every step of the way.”

Her story highlights the importance of grace—not just grace from God, but grace for ourselves. Sarah spoke candidly about letting go of the pressure to meet everyone’s expectations and instead focusing on what truly mattered.

Lessons from the Journey

Sarah shared several valuable lessons she learned during this season:

  • Trust God’s timing. “Sometimes, things don’t happen the way we planned, but that doesn’t mean God isn’t in control.”
  • Lean on your community. During her daughter’s recovery, Sarah experienced an outpouring of love and support from her church family and friends.

Encouragement for Pastor’s Wives

Sarah’s journey is a reminder that life in ministry is not always predictable, but God is always faithful. She had this encouragement for fellow pastor’s wives:

“Don’t be afraid to let people see your struggles. It’s in those moments of vulnerability that God’s strength shines through.”

In this episode, Katie Fordham shares her journey as a pastor's wife navigating ministry challenges and a life-changing Parkinson's diagnosis. Katie opens up about her upbringing, her call to ministry, and the unexpected trials that shaped her faith and reliance on God's provision.

She offers wisdom and encouragement for pastors' wives facing church hurt or chronic illness, and emphasizes the importance of forgiveness, gratitude, and community. Katie's story is a powerful testimony of God's unwavering faithfulness in the midst of life's trials.

In This Episode

1. Overcoming Church Hurt:
Katie recounts her experience with church conflict that led to her husband resigning, leaving them without income, insurance, or a home. She describes the deep hurt she felt and the journey toward forgiveness, saying, “Until I could forgive, God wasn’t going to be able to put us in ministry anywhere.”

Her advice to pastors' wives facing similar hurt:

  • Seek Help: Turn to your state convention or denominational resources for support.
  • Rely on Community: Find a church home that will love you well and help you heal.
  • Guard Your Heart: Avoid bitterness, as it can hinder your spiritual growth and ministry.
  • Pray Together: Maintain unity with your spouse and seek God’s direction as a team.

2. Living with Parkinson’s Disease:
Katie shares her journey of being diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s at the age of 36, a diagnosis that affects less than 1% of the population in her demographic. She speaks candidly about the physical and emotional toll of the disease and how God has provided every step of the way.

“If I can name it, I can fight it.” Katie reflects on how naming the diagnosis gave her clarity but also a new level of trust in God’s plan.

Advice for Ministering to Those with Parkinson’s or Chronic Illness:

  • Respect Boundaries: Understand physical and emotional limits, like avoiding physical touch during tremors.
  • Provide Practical Help: Meals, transportation, and simply being present can be powerful.
  • Offer Encouragement: Remind them of hope and gratitude, which can lift their spirits.
  • Be Patient: Chronic illness can bring fatigue and mood changes; compassion is key.

Her reminder: “When we find gratitude, we find our purpose. Be thankful in all things.”

3. Encouragement for Pastors’ Wives:

  • Trust God’s Plan: Even in uncertainty, God is faithful and provides abundantly.
  • Seek Restoration: Whether through forgiveness or sabbaticals, prioritize spiritual and emotional health.
  • Be an Advocate: Stand up for your family’s needs and fight for rest when it’s necessary.
  • Pray Continuously: Cover your spouse and family in prayer as you navigate ministry challenges.

This is a replay of an episode from 2022, but it's so good I wanted to share it again to inspire you to get ready to celebrate the season!

This week on the podcast we're getting really practical! Stevie Ciske is a master planner of all things (my description, not hers!) and she is sharing how she makes Christmas memories with her family throughout the month of December. The key is PLANNING!

Not only does she share some great ideas, she's given us a few resources (see the links below) to help us do the same in our families. Whether you 're starting simple or ready to jump all in, this episode will help you prepare to make Christmas memories without stressing out!

In this episode, I sat down with Robin Schmidt, an ambassador for PIR Ministries, to discuss the vital work they do in supporting pastors who have experienced forced exits from their congregations. Robin shares the history and mission of PIR (Pastor in Residence), a ministry founded to provide a safe haven and restorative process for wounded pastors and their families. Learn how PIR helps restore hope, trust, and a sense of calling to those who have dedicated their lives to ministry.

Introduction to PIR Ministries: Robin introduces PIR Ministries and its mission to support pastors who have been forcibly exited from their congregations due to conflict, burnout, or moral failures.

Refuge Churches: Discover the concept of Refuge Churches—grace-filled churches that offer a safe and supportive environment for exited pastors and their families to heal and restore their sense of calling.

The Ministry of Presence: Robin emphasizes the importance of simply being present with those who are hurting, drawing parallels to the Jewish custom of sitting shiva.

The Healing Process: Understand the structured support system provided by PIR, including support teams, affirmations, and the Pro-D assessment, which helps pastors and their spouses understand their strengths and areas for growth.

On this episode of the Pastor Wife Life podcast, I’m chatting with Brandice Lardner of Grace-Filled Plate. Brandie lives in beautiful Clearwater, Florida, with her husband, their eight-year-old daughter, a few dogs, and a bunny. Her life is a mix of family joy, furry friends, and a deep calling to help others through her blog, Grace-Filled Plate.

At Grace Filled Plate, Brandice guides Christian women to overcome the diet mindset and discover food freedom through a relationship with Christ. Despite knowing our needs are met in Jesus, many of us get swept up in worldly thinking and past struggles. We try to fix our food issues with tools that aren't from the Lord. While God may use various tools, it's ultimately about putting Him first.

Today on the podcast, we’re diving into the topic of trials and finding joy with my friend, Barb Raveling. Joy is one of my favorite topics, especially as someone who has battled depression for years. When God delivered me from that, joy became incredibly precious to me because I had gone so long without it.

The enemy often tries to steal our joy. While this is true for any believer, it sometimes feels particularly intense in the pastor's wife life. We face unique challenges as we love on God's people and our families, and the enemy's attacks can be relentless.

Joy is not merely an abstract concept but a tangible experience that comes from walking closely with God through every trial. It’s a testimony to His faithfulness and a light to those around us. As we navigate our own journeys, let us embrace each trial as an opportunity to grow in faith and joy, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.

So get ready to hear about starting a book club in your church, transitioning from one church to another, her dad's part in Kristen becoming the pastor's wife, and so much more! Transitioning out of one ministry and into the next is one of the most challenging aspects of the pastor wife life and it’s one that 99.99% will probably experience at least once. In today’s episode, Julie Lynn Ashley shares the lessons she learned when she and her husband were faced with an unexpected transition.

From the initial shock of realizing change was happening to the eventual acceptance and navigation of the transition, it’s clear that Julie Lynn relied heavily on her faith and sought guidance from God throughout the journey. She also talks about the value of having a “Jill” in your life.

Her reflections on the mistakes made and lessons learned offer valuable insights for others facing similar transitions in their lives. It’s beautiful to see how God works to redeem difficult situations and lead us to unexpected blessings.

Lisa Dingle is not just a pastor’s wife and mom, she is also the program supervisor for a social services program with a master’s degree in psychology. In today’s episode, Lisa shares her story of finding herself and her then-fiance (and spoiler alert: now husband) in a toxic relationship with a narcissistic pastor. Although it nearly destroyed Lisa and John’s relationship, twenty years later she is thankful for all that she learned about who God is through that season and how it propelled her into the mental health field where she is serving and helping others today. Lisa talks about recognizing the signs of toxicity and how to find healing as well as recommending resources to learn more.

You may remember today’s guest from episode 96. Heather Creekmore is a pastor’s wife, author, podcaster, online course creator and coach focused on improving body image from a biblical perspective.

In today’s episode, we chat about the cultural pressure on women’s body and how we can find a balanced and biblical approach to body image, food, and exercise. We talked the importance of addressing struggles with body image in our churches and how we can engage in open and honest conversations rooted in biblical truth.

I know for me, I’m on camera all the time in videos, photos, and I’m on stage every week at church. It’s easy to be self-conscious and focused on how I look. Maybe I’m the only one, but if that sounds like you too, you’re going to love my conversation with Heather.

Community outreach is one of the most biblical things a church can do and Karmen Loney and her husband are doing just that. Through the community garden they established in their small town, they are making a huge impact on the community.

"Mostly it was a way to welcome people to a place where they could come as they are and participate in something to grow beauty, food, relationships, and hearts toward Christ. We wanted to build relationships that could bear the weight of the gospel."

Karmen's heart for people, both inside and outside the four walls of the church building, is bringing transformation and community to people in her town. You're going to love this episode!

Pastors' wives, I bet we can all quote Mark 10:43-44, ". . . whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you will be a slave to all". Serving is what we are called to do. We all know it. We all do it. But do we serve with joy? On today's episode, I'm chatting with Courtney Boyd about joy in serving. She has some encouragement for you today about what joy is, how you can experience joy in ministry, and how you can continue to serve in joy.

Happy New Year! Do you have a vision for 2022? I know God has a vision for you. Maybe He's dropped something into your spirit that seems overwhelming or impossible. We can learn a lot from Mary on how to respond when God calls you to something new.

Luke 1:26-38 records the conversation between Mary and the angel Gabriel. I don't know about you, but I want to have the same heart towards my calling as Mary.

She was open to hear from God. She was quick to ask questions when she didn’t understand. She listened to what God had to say. She surrendered her plans so she she could surrender to His. She submitted to His calling even when it seemed huge and didn’t make sense. She trusted that God knew what He was doing and went with it.

And of course, because of Mary’s heart, she became part of the greatest rescue story the world will ever know.

God is no different today. He has a plan for YOU to be part of His story too.

November is typically a month where gratitude is in focus, but sometimes it's hard to be grateful in ministry. In this episode, Stevie Ciske and I chat about how to cultivate gratitude in ministry. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "Give thanks in everything: for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Stevie points out that to not give thanks in everything is to be out of God's will. (#gutpunch) But what does that really look like? Listen in as we discuss this topic that is clearly important for us to understand!

You may not have heard of it before, but the probability is high that at some point in your ministry life you will encounter the Jezebel spirit. In this episode, lead pastor's wife, Nicole Tull, shares her experience and what she's learned about defeating this attack of the enemy.

Some people hear "Jezebel" and immediately think of a seductive woman, but that's not necessarily how it works. What is a common denominator is that the target is a man or woman of God in leadership. Be sure and check out the links below for more information.

When I created the anonymous survey for pastors' wives, one of the questions is "what do you struggle with as a pastor's wife?". I never expected one of the top 3 answers to be "my relationship with God." But, in fact, that's one of the top answers to that question!

My friend Susan Belisle is on this episode of the podcast and she shares her insights on developing the most important relationship we can have. In her book, 40 Conversations with God That Will Change Your Life, Susan invites you to take a peek into her quiet time. You will be so encouraged in your walk with God, no matter what season of life you find yourself.

One of the ways God makes the most out of our pastor wife platform is by using our experiences to help others. A personal tragedy in Karen's life has become the catalyst for a community-wide (and beyond!) outreach to minister to those whose lives have been impacted by the grief surrounding the death of a loved one. In this episode she shares how God brought her healing after the suicide of her brother to eventually become a facilitator for Grief Share, a ministry that helps those facing the deep hurt of losing a loved one or friend and supports them as they move toward rebuilding their lives.

Karen Altizer resides in West Virginia with her husband and children.  She is a pastor’s wife and a homeschool mom, and volunteers for various ministries within her church and community.  Karen has been in full time ministry for over 20 years and has been a facilitator for GriefShare for six years.

God has provided everything we need to find victory through Him. Over the next 2 months we will be unpacking five smooth stones we have been given, the strongholds we face, and how we can stand firm against the enemy.

In 2019, Ashley Brown and her husband Greg began feeling God’s call to plant a church. Only God knew what we now all know . . . a pandemic was coming. But that didn’t stop them from moving forward, “zoom”ing their launch team gatherings and planting a church in the midst of a pandemic! If that’s not dramatic enough, in the fall of 2020, Ashley and Greg both contracted COVID. Ashley’s symptoms were mild enough, but Greg’s symptoms were extreme and turned into one of the rarest casest (1 out of only 30 documented in the world!) doctors had ever seen. Their story is truly a miraculous one and your faith will be strengthened as you listen!

7 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Bible Reading Plan **1. Remember the WHY.** We don’t follow the plan just so we can check off a box and say we accomplished it. We read the Word to know God and to develop a deeper relationship with Him. Reading the Word gives us a greater understanding of who He is and shows us a wider picture of what He has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do. It reminds us who we are because of Him and reveals our purpose. It helps us set our focus on things above, and gives us wisdom to live the life He created us to live.

2. Choose a time and a place. When is the best time to read? Believe it or not, there is no hard, fast rule about when you have your quiet time. For most of us, the morning works out to be the best time – a time before the distractions of the day hit. By getting up a few minutes earlier, you have the benefit of setting your focus for the day. You have the opportunity to let God’s voice be the first voice that you hear, before all the other voices in your world have a chance to barge in.

Some people use their lunch break for their time. Others before they go to sleep. The important thing is to choose a time when you are alert and can really focus on what the Word is saying.

Whatever time you choose, commit to it. Show up. Be ready to receive. If something happens and you miss your time, reschedule it for later. Getting behind is discouraging and the enemy will do his best to influence you to just give up. If you get behind, don’t give up. Keep going! Catch up when you can!

Decide where you are going to read. I like to read at my desk because I take a lot of notes. I like to have my pens and highlighters handy. Wherever you choose, choose a place as free from distraction as possible. If you’re like me and want to have supplies ready, get a basket or a bag and put your Bible, journal, and pens in it so it’s always ready to go.

3. Use a print Bible. We live in a time where everything is available digitally. It’s really easy to open the Bible app on your phone and read from there. But can I encourage you to use a print Bible? Our minds have become accustomed to opening our phones and just skimming through content and we miss so much!. Scientific studies have shown that we absorb more when we read printed books over digital ones.

Having an actual Bible in our hands allows us to really engage with the Word. Highlighting and underlining and making notes in the margins personalizes our experience and keeps our attention.

One thing you may find helpful though, is to listen to the Word while you read it. I use the audio from the Bible app while I read the Word in my print Bible and there’s something to hearing the words and seeing the words at the same time.

You can find the Bibles that PD and I will using on Amazon. We both like having the wide margins to take notes in, but they also make a regular OYB that’s smaller and a little easier to handle. You can also use a Bible you already have and follow along with the printed plan.

4. Keep a journal. I am a writer. I write everything down, so of course I keep a quiet time journal. I learned this from my first mentor when I was a teenager and I absolutely treasure looking back at what I’ve written!

My journal is probably a bit more elaborate than most peoples, but the principle of journaling – of writing down what you observed in the Wo

We are experiencing an unprecedented (at least in our lifetime) event as this episode goes live. As pastors' wives, we are stepping into a whole new arena of ministry and as a popular meme says, "and just like that, we were all televangelists."

We are learning more than ever before that the Church is not a building and we are finding new ways to connect with our people. The creativity of Church Creatives around the world has lit up the Facebook groups I'm in and I wanted to share a few ideas on how we can continue to minister in this crazy season!

This list is certainly not exhaustive, but I asked the ladies in the Pastor Wife Life Facebook group how they are connecting with their people and communities and I've compiled some of these answers right here.

  1. Provide lunches for healthcare employees. (Andrea Z.)

  2. Send out a daily text with a prayer focus for the day. (Julie M.)

  3. Create a private Facebook group for your church family. (Julie M.)

  4. Feeding kids in the local community. (Julie M.)

  5. Feeding parents at the local children's hospital. (Julie M.)

  6. Zoom Meetings (Nicole C.) Zoom is a video conferencing app that allows you to meet virtually and it's a fun way to connect. People are leading Sunday School classes, Bible studies, small groups, youth gatherings, discipleship, etc. The possibilities are endless!

  7. Phone calls. Yes! Actual phone calls. (This is way out of my comfort zone, but I'm making myself do it!) A lot of our older members aren't comfortable texting and some don't do social media at all so a phone call to them means so much! We divided our church directory between the staff and leadership and are all making phone calls to our congregation.

  8. Post Bible stories and lessons for kids. Many churches are posting quick videos from their children's pastor or directors. LifeChurch has a ton of free resources available. Other companies have waived their copyright restrictions to those who have purchased their curriculum.

  9. Provide a packet for kids with worksheets, crafts, and other things to go along with the video lessons. Drop them off at homes.

  10. Coronavirus Caroling. One of our members, Jenna, posted "this past Saturday, myself and a few other ladies went 'coronavirus caroling'. We drove separately to people’s homes from our church family and sang hymns to them from their yards (a responsible distance apart). I can’t tell you how many people stood on their porches in tears singing with us. It

In Part 2 of the Productive Pastor's Wife, I am talking about how our roles and responsibilities affect our productivity. If you missed Part 1, click here to listen to The Productive Pastor's Wife, Part 1. God expects us to be productive! Each of us has a calling. Part of our calling is the same as every other disciple of Christ and part of our calling is unique. It is important for us to clarify the God-given roles and responsibilities for our lives and then to prioritize them.

Action Steps * Write down all of your current roles/responsibilities. * Ask the Holy Spirit to show you any part of the list that you need to eliminate. * Ask the Holy Spirit to show you anything you need to add to the list.

Productivity happens to be one of my favorite topics and based on responses from the survey, this is one the biggest struggles that pastors' wives face. In this episode, I introduce this subject with 5 principles for becoming a productive pastor's wife. 5 Principles of Becoming a Productive Pastor's Wife 1. Know who God is (the Gardener), who Jesus is (the Vine), and who you are (the branch). 2. Recognize which season you are in. The lack of visible fruit may just mean that you are in a season of pruning. 3. Remember that the Word has pruned you and will continue to prune you. Surrender to it! 4. Dwell in Him. Embrace the partnership with God. 5. Don't try to "branch" out on your own. Apart from Jesus, you can do nothing.

Have you noticed the tagline on the podcast? "Embrace Your Identity. Fulfill Your Purpose." I'm talking about identity on this week's episode. My identity is NOT "the pastor's wife". Being the pastor's wife is just the platform from which my identity shines. Your identity is NOT based on . . . * your position * your husband's position * someone else's expectations * your gifts, callings, and talents * your appearance * your roles in life * what you do and how well you do it

Your identity is based on who God is and who He created you to be. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 If anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Your spiritual DNA, received when you become a child of God reveals your true identity! The enemy loves to deceive you and bring doubt; don't fall for his lies! Resources Meet the New You - Elisa Pulliam Who I Am in Christ - Neil T.
