And a Cheektowaga man was charged in a drive-by shooting attempt. In sports, the Sabres host the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7 p.m. A win would be their third in a row. In sports, the Buffalo Sabres won 3-2 over the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night. Behind the bench, Lindy Ruff notched his 600th win as coach of the Sabres. In sports, the Sabres fell Thursday night to the Utah Hockey Club, 5-2. They're back in action Saturday afternoon in Minnesota.

New York State Police in Lockport conducted an underage drinking detail on Sunday in Niagara and Erie Counties. Three people were charged with unlawfully serving minors. Also over the weekend, The New York State Police issued 11,582 tickets during this year’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement initiative. In Western New York, there were 13 DWI arrests, 308 people charged with speeding, 28 distracted driving tickets issued, 40 charged with having children without seatbelts, and 5 move over violations. In all, 1,152 tickets were issued locally.

Early voting concluded Sunday in New York State and Niagara County reports a record number of voters casting their ballots over the nine-day period. Nearly 33,000 voters cast their ballot there. And in Erie County, 178,314 early voting ballots and returned absentee ballots were cast in Erie County (28% of all voters). Gas prices continue to fall in Western New York, down to $3.26 in Buffalo, $3.30 in Batavia and $3.32 in Rochester.
