In this powerful episode of PxP, we're diving deep into the heart of a universal truth - the importance of seizing the moment. Life has a way of flying by, and sometimes, we don't realize it until it's too late.

Join me, Jayme Yarroch, as we reflect on the passing of time and how it seems to speed up as we get older. We'll share personal insights and stories about how, in our youth, we lived for the moment, seizing every opportunity that came our way.

But somewhere along the journey, we started worrying about tomorrow, and the next day, and the one after that. We became experts at making excuses for not living fully in the present.

In this episode, we make a heartfelt plea to change this narrative. We discuss why it's crucial to live for today, to embrace opportunities when they arise, and to make the most of every single moment. Life is too short to be caught up in endless worries and procrastination.

As a bonus, I'll share some exciting updates from my life, including my new role as Grandpa and a thrilling diving event at Auburn University that I had the privilege to announce.

So, grab your favorite beverage, find a cozy spot, and let's have a direct, inspirational, and heart-to-heart conversation about why it's time to seize the moment.

Want to step up your leadership skills?  You absolutely must learn how and what motivates and de-motivates your team.  We all learn different, we all communicate different, and we are all motivated by different things and by different styles.  As a leader, it is up to you to figure out each one of your direct reports and what makes them tick.  It’s about tapping into their best self and helping them reach a potential that they didn’t even know they had.

Get to know your team.  Get to know what makes them want to be successful.  What motivates them.  What is their why?  What makes them get up and come to work day-in and day-out.  When you do that, you’ll add another tool to your leadership toolbox and your team will be ready to rise to the challenge.

As I mentioned in the podcast, here is the place to stay in Orange Beach, AL:  Perdido Beach Resort @ https://www.perdidobeachresort.com

Do you have employees that are just not meeting expectations?  The problem could be a Training Deficit... or it could be a Will Deficit.  This episode was inspired by a short snippet that Greg Gray posted and we are going to expand on that a little bit.

As a leader, it is up to you to determine the source of the deficit and to put a solution in place to correct it.

Take a second to check out GregGray.com and follow him on social.

In this episode, we are talking about consistency, in particular, being a leader that is consistent in how they treat their teams, how they handle problems, how they praise, how they communicate, and how they follow through on commitments.

I think we can all relate to a boss or supervisor that we had at some point in our career that failed to maintain a sense of consistency.  Perhaps that leader was us, we were the one that was inconsistent. The challenge in having a leader that is inconsistent is that it’s hard for that leader to build trust, loyalty, and dedication.

Be a leader that follows through on their commitments.  If you can’t do what you say, don’t say it to begin with.  If you say it, do it.  Be a leader that can be relied upon to keep their word.

So, may challenge to you today – be a leader that is consistent.  Consistent in treating employees the same, consistent in delivering accountability, consistent in praise, and consistent in keeping your commitments.  In doing so, you are going to be a well respected leader with loyal and dedicated employees who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure your team is successful.

Today's podcast touches on resolving conflict through EFFECTIVE communication.  It takes more than an email to resolve most conflict.  It often takes transparent, honest, candid conversation to get through a conflict, but more times than not, we fail to put in the effort it takes to have those tough conversations.

A great book to go along with this topic is Radical Candor, by Kim Scott.  You can find it on Audible.  If you have never used Audible before, let me know and I'll send you your first book FREE!

Bad experiences occur in all of our lives.  Sometimes by our own doing... sometimes by no fault of ours.  How we respond to those experiences determines how quickly we move past them.

In order to GROW from a bad experience, we have to disconnect from how we FEEL, and focus on what we've LEARNED.

I read a quote from Simon Sinek that talked about caring leaders getting the most out of their people.  From that, I was thinking about all that goes into the  word "caring" and how we often think of caring as simply meeting the immediate, physical needs of a team member.  The truth is, the hardest thing about being a leader is doing those things that truly show that you care.  Today, we dive into a few of those areas of leadership.

Hello PxP listeners...

This was meant to be a 2MD... but it went longer than expected.  I hope you don't mind.  We are all facing challenges and struggles, some alike and some unique to our own circumstances.  One thing is certain... maintaining a positive, rather than negative, attitude and outlook will be far more beneficial to getting through the crisis and finding joy along the way.  Yes, joy!  I get it, times are tough for a lot of people, but what can YOU do to be a light to others, to be a help, to be an encouragement... rather than a weight than discourages and depresses.

Listen to this short episode and be encouraged about being a positive influence to those around you!  We all need it.

Leaders are often born in times of crisis or chaos.  Remember, a manager or supervisor is a title given by a company... a leader is a title given by your team.  After a break for a few days to rest my voice, today I'm going to give you a new title... the C.H.O.  Listen to find out what that means and how you can fulfill your role as a leader, when your team needs YOU most.

In summary, we do this through:

  1. modeling positive behavior
  2. consistent honest conversation
  3. instilling hope, and
  4. genuinely expressing care and concern for those we lead.

Our perception can truly become our reality. In some cases, this can take us, or our colleagues, down a road of negativity if we are not careful. Our perception can turn the smallest things into major wedges driven between us and co-workers or bosses or even in our personal lives. This 2-minute drill challenges you to choose progress over perfection!  Don't worry about trying to get it all right... worry about getting the product to market, the solution into action, or the procedure into practice.  Just do it!  More often than not, seeking perfection will result in quitting before the finish line.  Give your perfect effort, but don't demand perfection.  Demand progress.

In the future, companies will be differentiated primarily by their customer service.  What kind of service are you currently delivering?  Is it the best?  Do poeple talk about it like they do Chick-fil-a?  If not... why not?  It most certainly can be.  Today, I talk about some basic customer service tips, just scratching the surface, to help up your "customer service game" and take it to the next level.

Need more specific help in your organization?  Talk to me about coming in and evaluating the current service levels and implementing plans to improve.  With some help, you can be talked about like that great chicken sandwich restaurant.  :)

The 2-Minute Drill... a snippet of a full podcast.  Just enough to get you thinking about a particular topic.  This 2MD asks the question:  Why do we put the least amount of value on the things that we should value most?  We allow "stuff" in our life to overshadow those things that are most precious to us.  I challenge you to be deliberate about it and spend some time and attention on the things that matter in the big picture.
