She talks about parenting kids in this cultural climate, standing for truth, and loving God with all of your mind. The episodes are kept short for busy women who want to be encouraged and equipped to defend the faith, while multi-tasking and taking care of business. If you want to know how to take cultural issues and align them to biblical truth, join Shanda each week as she takes on hard topics and teaches you to do the same.
What does it mean to have an "empty self," and could these traits be affecting the way you think, live, and grow as a Christian? In this episode, I unpack J.P. Moreland's seven traits of the empty self, including individualism, instant gratification, narcissism, passivity, being driven by feelings and experiences, external identity, and busyness.
We'll look at how these traits can weaken our ability to think deeply, study Scripture, and discern truth—and practical steps we can take to develop a stronger Christian mind and love the Lord with all our minds.

The New Age movement is more popular than ever. Practices like tarot cards, crystals, manifestation, astrology, energy healing, and spirit guides are often presented as harmless tools for personal growth. But what does the Bible say?
In this episode, I sit down with Jac Marino Chen, author of Ensnared: Overcoming the Darkness of the New Age and Occult with the Light of God's Truth, to hear her powerful testimony of how Jesus rescued her from a life immersed in the occult, ritual magick, addiction, and spiritual deception.
Jac's explanation of the gospel was so powerful it brought tears to my eyes. I know you'll walk away from this conversation encouraged and reminded that while the occult is real and spiritually dangerous, it is no match for the saving power of Jesus Christ. No one is beyond His reach. God is still breaking through the darkness, setting captives free, and transforming lives by His grace.

Biblical literacy is in decline—and the consequences are showing.
In this episode, I unpack alarming statistics about Bible reading in America and explain why so many Christians struggle to recognize false teaching. We examine the growing influence of Kathryn Krick and discuss how emotional experiences can never replace sound biblical doctrine.
I also answer a listener's question about the Scofield Study Bible, compare popular Bible translations by reading level, and share practical advice for choosing a translation you'll actually read and understand.
This episode will challenge you to move beyond devotionals and secondary sources and become a student of God's Word. The goal isn't simply to read the Bible more—it's to know God more deeply, discern truth from error, and become a faithful disciple who can help others do the same.

The debate over women serving as pastors has reignited after the Southern Baptist Convention voted to clarify that the office of pastor is reserved for qualified men. Some see this as biblical faithfulness. Others see it as sexism.
So what does Scripture actually teach?
In this episode, I share how my own views changed after studying the Bible for myself, explain why I believe the office of pastor is reserved for men, and discuss why that does not diminish the value, gifting, or influence of women in God's kingdom.
Whether you're wrestling with this issue yourself or simply want to understand the biblical arguments more clearly, my prayer is that this conversation encourages you to approach Scripture with humility, charity, and a desire to honor Christ above culture.

Is self-love biblical? After discovering a surprising verse in Proverbs 19:8, Shanda takes a deep dive into what Scripture really says about loving yourself. In a culture that constantly tells us to prioritize self-love, self-care, and self-acceptance, Christians must ask whether these messages align with God's Word.
In this episode, Shanda explores the difference between cultural self-love and biblical wisdom, examines passages often used to support self-love, discusses how theologians have understood the concept throughout church history, and explains why Scripture consistently points us toward loving God first. You'll also hear a special Father's Day reflection as Shanda shares personal stories about her dad and the vital role fathers play in the lives of their children.
If you've ever wondered whether self-love belongs in the Christian life—or if there's a better biblical framework for thinking about identity, purpose, and love—this episode is for you.

What do you expect from church—and what should your church biblically expect from you?
In this episode, Shanda takes an honest look at consumerism within the American church and challenges believers to evaluate whether they approach church like a spiritual family or like a membership-based service built for personal convenience.
From coffee shops and children's programs to worship preferences and polished productions, modern church culture can easily prioritize comfort over commitment. But is that what Scripture teaches?
By comparing the Western church to persecuted churches around the world and examining biblical expectations for both church leadership and church members, this episode calls Christians back to active discipleship, service, and biblical community.

In this episode of the Her Faith Inspires Podcast, we're tackling a question that hits at the heart of culture, morality, and truth: Why do different cultures disagree on what's right and wrong?
This conversation was sparked by a text from my younger brother—who loves history, follows culture closely, and always asks thoughtful questions. He pointed out how standards have shifted over time: what was once considered immodest, inappropriate, or even sinful in one generation or culture may be completely acceptable in another. From modesty and language to gender roles and societal norms, it raises an important question: Who decides what's right?
In today's episode, we're going to:
If you've ever wondered whether morality is relative or if there's a standard that transcends culture, this episode will help you think clearly and biblically about the world around you.

What happens when we die—and are we truly prepared for what comes next?
In this episode, I sit down with Pastor Philip DeCourcy to discuss his book Life After Life and the biblical reality of eternity. Together, we explore what Scripture teaches about heaven, hell, judgment, and the eternal destiny of every soul.
In a culture that avoids the topic of death or redefines it through feelings and speculation, this conversation brings clarity, truth, and urgency. Philip helps us think biblically about what lies beyond this life and why what we believe now matters forever.
We also talk about common misconceptions, the danger of cultural narratives about the afterlife, and how a right understanding of eternity should shape the way we live today.
This episode will challenge you to examine your beliefs, anchor your hope in truth, and consider the most important question of all: Are you ready for eternity?

In this episode, Shanda shares a personal (and relatable!) story from a fitting room that sparked a deeper spiritual question: Do we really want to see ourselves as we are, or as we wish we were?
Just like mirrors with different lighting can change how we look, we often try to "adjust the lighting" in our spiritual lives—surrounding ourselves with messages, influences, and even interpretations of Scripture that make us feel better rather than show us the truth.
But God's Word doesn't flatter. It reveals.
Drawing from the book of James, we explore how Scripture acts as a mirror, exposing what's really in our hearts. And while that reflection can be uncomfortable, it's also the very thing God uses to transform us into the image of Christ.
In this episode, we'll talk about:
So the question is: Will you choose the mirror that flatters you…or the one that transforms you?

What is worship—really?
For many Christians, worship has been reduced to music on a Sunday morning. But is that what the Bible actually teaches?
In this episode, we take a deeper look at what Scripture says about worship and how a biblical worldview shapes our understanding of it. From Genesis to Revelation, we trace the theme of worship and idolatry to see what God truly requires of His people.
We also examine how modern worship culture can sometimes reveal something deeper—subtle forms of self-focus that shift attention away from God.
In this episode, we discuss:
If you've ever assumed worship was just about singing, this episode will challenge you to think more deeply—and more biblically—about what it means to truly worship God.

Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus encountering women from very different backgrounds—some broken by sin, some weighed down by shame, and others overlooked by society. Yet in every encounter, Jesus responds not with condemnation, but with truth, compassion, and life-changing mercy.

Today we explore a growing trend among Christian women: approaching the Bible more for emotional comfort than for the knowledge of God.
Why do we gravitate toward the "easier" books of the Bible and avoid the ones that require deeper study? Has church quietly become a place for therapy rather than transformation? And how has a worldview known as Moralistic Therapeutic Deism shaped what many Christians expect from faith?
Shanda shares a personal lesson that exposed this mindset in her own life and offers a biblical solution—one that doesn't dismiss emotional healing, but roots it in theology instead of self-focus.
If we want lasting wholeness, we have to move from reading the Bible for ourselves to reading it to know God.

In this important conversation, I sit down with Cortney Donelson, author of Loving Them to Death, to talk about one of the most emotionally charged issues in our culture: love.
What if the way culture defines love isn't actually loving? What if affirmation without truth is doing more harm than good?
We unpack how "love" has been redefined to mean unconditional approval, why that definition falls short of the biblical standard, and how Christians are often pressured to compromise truth in order to appear compassionate. Cortney shares why untethering love from God's design doesn't rescue people — it enables destruction.
We also discuss what it really looks like to love people well: speaking truth with courage, refusing emotional manipulation, and anchoring our compassion in the character of Christ.
If you've ever been told you're unloving for holding to Scripture, this episode will equip you to think clearly and respond biblically.

"Love" is one of the most used—and most argued-about—words in our culture. With over 2.1 billion hashtags on Instagram and 76 million posts declaring "love is love," it's clear that everyone has a definition. But does God?
Christians are often told we're "not loving enough" when we speak about God's design for marriage, the reality of biological sex, or the sanctity of life. We're reminded to "speak the truth in love"—sometimes as a correction, sometimes as a weapon. But before we argue about how to love, we have to ask a more important question: What is love, according to God?
In today's episode, we'll unpack what Scripture tells us to love, what God explicitly tells us not to love, and how to discern whether love is truly present—or merely being used as a slogan.

What happens when shame feels heavier than grace—and you're not sure God could really forgive that choice? In this powerful and hope-filled conversation, Shanda sits down with Brittany Poppe, Christian abortion recovery coach, pro-life speaker, and host of the globally ranked podcast Does God Forgive Abortion?.
After carrying the weight of her own abortion for years, Brittany found true healing through biblical forgiveness and a restored identity in Christ. Now, she helps other women partner with God in their healing journeys—moving from guilt, shame, and unworthiness into peace, freedom, and hope.
In this episode, Brittany shares her personal turning point, what it practically looks like to "partner with God" in healing, and why faith-filled community is essential for post-abortion recovery. You'll also hear her address common Christian misconceptions about healing after abortion, explain her Abortion Recovery Framework, and unpack why giving women permission to grieve is a vital part of redemption.

Why did God choose to enter the world as a baby? Why does the virgin birth matter for the gospel? And how do Old Testament prophecies shape our understanding of Christ's birth?
In this episode of the Her Faith Inspires podcast, I'm joined by Albert Leon to explore the theology of Christmas and why the birth of Jesus is central to the Christian faith. We unpack why God chose the humility of a manger instead of power and spectacle, the significance of Jesus being born of a virgin, and how prophecies like Isaiah 7:14 and Micah 5:2 reveal God's sovereign plan.
We also discuss why God waited so long to send the Messiah and what His timing teaches us about His character, faithfulness, and wisdom. Finally, we connect the manger to the cross, showing why Christmas is inseparable from the crucifixion—Jesus was born to die so that we could be redeemed.

We begin in the Garden of Eden, where God walked with Adam and Eve, move through the tabernacle and the temple—where His holy presence dwelt among Israel—and arrive at the breathtaking truth of the incarnation: Immanuel, God with us.
But the story doesn't end with Christ coming to us—it continues with Christ dwelling in us. Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, believers themselves become the temple of God. And one day, Scripture promises, we will dwell with Him fully and finally in eternity, where God's presence will no longer be mediated or partial, but complete and everlasting.
This episode explores why God's presence matters, what it reveals about His character, and how the entire Bible points toward one ultimate purpose: that God would dwell with His people, and they with Him.
If you've ever wondered how the pieces of Scripture fit together—or why "God with us" is far more than a Christmas phrase—this episode will help you see the unified, redemptive story of God's dwelling place from Genesis to Revelation.

In this episode, Shanda sits down with Micah E. Davis, author of Three Strikes, You're Forgiven: Encounter a God Who Wants to Redeem Your Past, Restore Your Present, and Transform Your Future, to explore the life-changing power of forgiveness when failure seems all you know. Micah shares how our culture's "three strikes and you're out" mentality doesn't align with the gospel. Instead, he shows that Christ offers a radical alternative: four acts of forgiveness—giving, receiving, self-forgiveness, and even forgiving God—and invites us into a journey of healing beyond shame. We dive into questions like: How do we stop trying to earn God's favor and simply rest in what He's done? What does it look like to forgive ourselves or the people who hurt us? And how does the gospel invite us into freedom when our past makes us feel disqualified? Whether you're feeling stuck in your mistakes, tired of perfectionism, or longing for a fresh start, this conversation will encourage you to embrace forgiveness, claim your identity in Christ, and live the restored life He intended.

In this episode, I reflect on the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk and what his example means for us as Christians moving forward. Charlie was a man of discipline, conviction, and grit—a reminder that Christianity is not for the faint of heart. We are called to run the race with endurance, to stand firm in the truth, and to live with courage even when it costs us.
I’ll walk through what it means to have GRIT as followers of Christ—Grounded in God’s Word, Resilient in trials, Intentional in faith, and Tenacious for the truth. This is not about applause or comfort but about finishing the race well, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9.
As we grieve, we don’t grieve as those without hope. We remember that our God is unchanging, sovereign, and victorious over death itself. The best way to honor Charlie’s legacy is to live with the same grit and conviction, keeping our eyes fixed on Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.

In a time of rising global antisemitism and unrest, how do we make sense of the tension surrounding Israel, identity, and the Messiah? In this episode, we unpack the spiritual and prophetic threads woven throughout Scripture—many of which point unmistakably to Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah.
David Brickner shares how he came to believe in Jesus, why even His earliest followers struggled to understand His mission, and why the human condition can't be fixed with a "do-over." We explore why God’s ways often clash with human preferences, the deep reluctance some Jewish people feel about being called God's chosen, and the profound prophecies—like Isaiah 53—that reveal a divine plan stretching back to the beginning of time.
From the parallels between Moses and Jesus to the hope found in God’s new covenant, this episode will challenge, encourage, and equip you with a deeper understanding of God’s heart for His people and His redemptive mission through Christ.

You’ve probably heard it before—“The church is a hospital for the sick.” But is that really what the Bible teaches about the purpose of the Church? In this episode, we dive into this popular phrase to ask some hard but necessary questions: Is the church primarily for the unsaved? Should believers take a backseat while the spiritually sick are treated? Or has our understanding of the Church’s mission been shaped more by culture than by Scripture?

George Janko, Russell Brand—what do we do with popular influencers who are on a public faith journey? In this episode, I share my honest thoughts on the rise of online Christian voices, the risks of platforming spiritual newbies, and why discernment is so critical for believers—especially those still learning biblical truth. I’m not here to cancel anyone, but I am here to help you think critically about who you’re letting disciple you.
I bring on my friend, Vanessa Hunt, to discuss the problems with John Mark Comer. We unpack the red flags in his theology and sources, and explore why his books have become the top picks for Christian discipleship. This episode runs longer than usual—but it’s a must-listen.

In today’s episode, we’re talking about the top three mental health struggles people are facing right now—anxiety, depression, and mood-related disorders. Our guest, Kenza Haddock, brings a powerful perspective that combines practical mental health strategies with a spiritual approach that’s helping people find real, lasting freedom.
We’ll unpack her book The Three Enemies of Your Mental Health and talk about how to spot subtle mental health attacks, get to the root of what’s really going on, and take action before things spiral. Kenza’s approach is different—it’s not just another treatment plan. It’s about breaking the cycle and learning how to actually win the battle for your mind.
If you’ve felt stuck, overwhelmed, or just tired of surface-level solutions, this conversation is for you. Let’s get into it.

In today’s episode, we’re diving into a topic that stopped me in my tracks during my study of 1 John: "Many antichrists have come." What does that even mean? And how does it connect to the Antichrist we hear about in end-times prophecy?
Here’s what we’re unpacking:
Grab your Bible, maybe a journal, and let’s talk about the spirit of antichrist—and how to stand firm in the last days.

In this episode, we dive into Case Files: Murder and Meaning, a gripping graphic novel created by real-life detectives and Christian apologists behind Cold-Case Christianity. The story follows Detective Michael “Murph” Murphy as he investigates a chilling series of murders in Los Angeles County, racing against time to stop a killer before they strike again.
But Case Files is more than just murder and mystery—it’s a deep exploration of the value of human life and the brokenness of sin. Through the dark realities of crime, it answers profound worldview questions about identity, purpose, and our need for redemption. We discuss how the ugliness of sin, seen through these fictional yet realistic cases, reveals the beauty of God’s design and why every human life matters.
Join us as we unpack how graphic novels like Case Files can creatively point readers to the truth of the Gospel—and why the pursuit of justice and redemption is something written on all our hearts.

How do you recognize God’s promises in your life? Unlike many Old Testament covenants, the Noahic Covenant wasn’t conditional—it was an unbreakable promise from God, sealed with the sign of the rainbow. That symbol wasn’t just a pretty after-storm moment; it was—and still is—a reminder that what God promises, He will fulfill.
In this episode, we break down how to identify God’s promises in Scripture and your everyday life. We also tackle the history of the rainbow, its connection to the LGBT+ movement, and why reclaiming its original, God-given meaning is more important than ever. Let’s talk about standing firm on God’s promises in a world trying to stake a claim to His creation.

Some pastors in the West don't like to mention the "s" word from the pulpit for fear of offending people. However, the Bible says you are either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness. Karl Clauson is on the show to discuss why sin is the one thing that defeats you and why you have to reckon with it. Karl shares the difference between recognizing your sin and owning it, and why Christians can't be afraid to talk about sin. Karl is a big personality, and you will be encouraged to take your sin to Jesus and defeat the thing defeating you.

According to Open Doors, 1 in 7 Christians around the world were persecuted for their faith in 2024. Statistics show Christian persecution is on the rise. Although Jesus warned us the world would hate us because it hates Him, does that mean our response to persecution should be passive? In this episode, we look back at the attitude of bystanders during the Holocaust, and the reaction of the German church who went with the status quo. What can we learn from their example and what is the appropriate response of Christians in the West even though "it doesn't happen here"?

A few weeks ago, Marianne Budde scolded President Trump from behind a pulpit at the inaugural prayer breakfast. What does this say about the state of the church? Leadership changes every four years but the church is supposed to be the constant that holds the culture accountable to objective truth. Is the church being changed by the culture or is the culture changing the church? It's one or the other. There is a difference between the relationship with God that was possible in the Old Testament compared to the relationship possible through Jesus. No one called God father in the Old Testament. The reconciliation offered through Christ made God not only approachable, but made the adoption into His family possible. There is no other religion known to man where God came to His own. And, there is no other religion known to man where God puts Himself in the position as your Father once you accept Jesus Christ as your savior. Christmas is so much more than a manger scene. This episode will remind everyone of the love God has for His people and the desire to have an intimate relationship with each one of us.

If God is all knowing do we really have free will? A few week's ago, I responded to a claim from a woman who said you cannot have an all knowing, all loving God, and Hell. So many people agreed with her and said if God is all knowing then we cannot have free will and make our own decisions. Like always, I take this debate back to the Bible where I break down the doctrine of free will, Hell, and the reason this woman might be justified in her claim IF and only IF God creates some for Heaven and some for Hell. But does He do that? We'll revisit her reel where she makes this claim and talk about all of this and more in today's episode.

Have you heard Christians say we shouldn't get involved in politics this election season? If so, you're not the only one. Claims such as: Jesus didn't overthrow the government, so we shouldn't vote. Or, Christians can't change the culture, so why talk about politics? What should you say if someone shuts down your political opinion with one of these claims? If you are the one making these claims, how should you think about politics as a Christian? The mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics isn't suprising. What is suprising is the response of many in the church who scold Christians for defending Christianity. Shanda answers these questions, examines some of the posts by pastors and Christian celebrities surrounding the latest event, and tells you the two things you should look for when something like the mocking of Christianity happens in the public square.

What is the evidence of a Christian life? Shanda walks you through the epistle of James, the half brother of Jesus. She breaks down all five chapters, pulling the main, and sometimes controversial points from this epistle. You will hear the timeline of James's confession of faith, as James and the rest of Jesus's family thought He was crazy. Jesus made it a point to show Himself to James after His resurrection. The contents of James's letter is sure to challenge you as his writings pack a punch and calls every Christian to be a doer of the Word, and not a hearer only.

We'll also look at Dr. Frank Turek's S.T.O.P. method for Bible study, and why the strategies you learned in elementary school are all you need to understand how to interpret your bible.

The phrase "prayer closet" is uttered by many in the church and because it is we think it must be biblical. That's the power of repetition. But is going into your prayer closet and quieting your mind the avenue in which God speaks? Is that what Jesus meant when He said, "go into your closet and pray"? (Matt 6:6)

Last month, a young Haitian missionary couple were killed in the field. A lot of people condemned them for being in a dangerous country where their lives were at risk, saying they had no business being there. The real question is: is Christianity comfortable? Are we supposed to pick and choose where to take the gospel as long as it's safe and we know it won't cost us anything? Shanda discusses the core of Christianity and why looking for comfortable Christiantiy is dangerous. We look at missionaries who gave their lives for the sake of Christ as well as what Paul said in his epistle to the churches about his own missionary journeys. This episode is both encouraging and convicting as we push past our comfort zone into the uncharted territory of uncomfortable Christianity.

Why do people arrive at their beliefs? Richard Suttles, otherwise known as The Faithiest Atheist, is here to discuss the importance of having civil conversations with people who don't think and believe like you. His background in counter-terrorism has led him to see there are only two steps in taking beliefs to a dangerous level. We discuss what those are and why it's important to be passionate about what you believe, yet balance it with mutual respect. We also discuss his "ministry" and why some atheists might not want him in their club.

Whatever is at the center of your life shapes you. The atmosphere of the home helps a child understand what is most important. Where does the family gather to talk and are free to create? Are more words texted on a device than to each other? Shanda talks about the center of the home before technology and why parents are losing ground when it comes to influencing their children to follow God. No family is perfect, and since we're all humans and descendents of Adam and Eve, every family is disfunctional in some way. However, that doesn't mean there isn't a design for the home that will shape and develope a biblical worldview in your family.

God with man is what makes Christianity unique to any other religion. To dwell among us is the heart of God. In the Old Testament, we see David's desire to build a house for God. But even David understood that no house could hold the presence of God. When Jesus walked the earth, God took on flesh and dwelt among us. The angel proclaimed, "Immanuel, God with us." It was a concept too great to fathom. Now that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father, His desire is to still dwell among us, but the temple is not the same. Shanda talks about the temple of God in the Old Testament, New Testament, and today. Immanuel, God with us will mean so much more to you than ever before.

What are the indicators of the victim mentality? Excuses and blame go as far back as Genesis 3 and we are all susceptible to it. But what happens when we nurture a culture of people with a victim mentality? We get a thankless generation. Paul told Timothy that the last days would be difficult because people are thankless. With the rise of critical race theory and an oppressor/oppressed view of society, it is no wonder more people see themsevles as victims. A popular belief circulating among the culture is that Christianity is a white man's religion. This is one reason why the younger generations are reluctant to become Christians. They believe Christianity is used by white men to oppress and manipulate the vulnerable. While it is true that people have done heinous acts in the name of Christianity, the question that we get to the bottom of is Is Christianity a white man's religion? Ty is on the show to answer this question using examples from Beyonce, early church history, and she tells the church how to change the minds of those who believe this way.

In this blast from the past, Shanda answers the question: Is it okay to judge? Many quote Matthew 7:1 and stop there, justifying the claim that it is wrong to judge others. But is that what Jesus is saying? This episode will remind you of one of the major rules of Bible study: never read a Bible verse. We must read all of Matthew 7 in order to apply how to judge correctly. This episode originally aired as episode number 8.

Does forgiveness of the self take away your guilt and shame? Do Christians need the forgiveness of God and the forgiveness of the self? Many Christians think so. Shanda talks about why this line of thinking is linked to the self-love mentality. Does the Bible tell us to forgive ourselves? What does this mentality lead to and what are the spiritual repercussions? Shanda shares her story of wanting to "fix" herself so she could go before God, and why forgiveness of self is another form of pride. This message will leave you encouraged and will convince you that you don't need to forgive yourself. God's forgiveness is enough.

In fact, she sent out an email to her subscribers calling out Christians for leaving the practices of the New Age and exclusively following Jesus. Shanda breaks down why Christians cannot mix the New Age with Christianity and why these claims reveal other belief systems are not neutral. More people identify as "nones" today than any other time in history. That means they do not have any affiliation with any religion. Is there a correlation between the decline of Christianity and our current cultural situation? Why do some Christians cuss? Is cussing a sin? The book of James tells us no one can tame the tongue because it is an unruly evil. And while we could go through each word and evaluate whether or not it's okay to say, the issue is far deeper than dropping an F-bomb. Shanda talks about the two categories our words fit into and what our words reveal about us. If we have to give an account for every idle word we speak, what does that say about the value of words? A lot more than you might think.

Why is it important for Christians to be equally yoked in marraige? And what does that even mean? It's as simple as finding a project or finding a partner. The Bible does not encourage us to find a project - someone you can take to church and hope will change as you date. The Bible encourages you to find a partner - someone who is already committed to a relationshp with Christ and who will come alongside you in a committed marital relationship. Shanda breaks down what to do if you are in an unequally yoked marriage, and how to navigate dating as you look forward to marriage.

Do you know why first impressions are important? Because if you dress up and look put together, you're more likely to convince people that looking good means you are good. This is called the halo effect and it's a bias we see in 1 Samuel when God accuses Samuel of choosing a king based upon his appearance. Everyone has biases, including you. Shanda talks about what biases are, how to identify them, and why they are a barrier to good thinking. She shares her own experiences with biases and how humility is needed to face them.

Some topics are heavily debated by Christains and when it comes to drinking alcohol, the debate can get heated. The real question isn't, "Did Jesus drink wine?" And it's also not, "Did Jesus turn water into grape juice?" Shanda dives into the real issue when we talk about the freedom we have in Christ. She also talks about who we should consider when drinking alcohol. This episode may ruffle some feathers, but that's not the intention. Does it matter how much you weigh, what you eat, or if you workout? Does God care how we take care of our bodies? Body positivity is promoted by our culture and that really means it doesn't matter what you look like. Even if you're overweight and your BMI is in the unhealthy zone, you should celebrate the way you look and so should everyone else. And although the Bible does not place value on us by how much we weigh or what we look like, does that mean God doesn't care about a healthy lifestyle? Robin Rhine McDonald is a faith-based holistic health coach and she walks us through what the Bible says about taking care of our bodies and why it's important. We discuss what the Bible says about physical health and healing. The body is not less than the mind and soul. We talk about how the calling and purpose God places in our lives is closely connected with how we steward our bodies.

By the end of this episode you will understand why you can be confident when arriving at a belief based on evidence, and why you shouldn't offended when someone accuses you of being closed-minded.

You see them in the checkout line of the grocery store with headlines that suck you in with the latest gossip and cultural trends. Do you pick one up and start reading or do you bypass it knowing it's nothing but a guilty pleasure? I'm talking about those trash magazines on the shelf of your local grocery store. Terrell Clemmons of Salvo Magazine is here to discuss an intellectual alternative to the cultural narrative with Salvo Magazine. She and I sit down to discuss why no topic is too difficult for the writers to take on. Salvo is a magazine of society, sex, and science from a Christian worldview. We have an amazing discussion and Terrell provides tips on hot to get started on your writing career.

What happens when ONE person takes a stand when no one else will? There aren't a lot of brave ONEs out there who defy the popular narrative and become a target because they stand up and speak the truth. Our culture nurtures acceptance and authenticity as a way to show love and respect, but do you have to accept the popular narrative in order to prove you're loving? Humans crave acceptance. We want to belong. That's one reason it's so difficult to break away from the crowd. It's easy to go with the flow. Shanda talks about the crowd and the dangers of blending in. When you read the New Testament, the crowd is a character itself because no one is known in the crowd. Everyone in the crowd moves at the same pace, shouts the same words, and doesn't take a stand on anything. She shares real life stories of those in recent days who have taken a stand and gives examples of those in the Bible who did too. And though no one knows the results of the stance they take at the time, they always have one thing in common. Can you be the ONE?

As Christians, we often assume because we show up to church we are developing a biblical worldview. Parents assume that because they send their kids to a Christian school, their children are developing a biblical worldview. However, studies show worldview development is taught, not caught. Elizabeth is a former Christian school teacher and she quickly learned that many of her students coming from a Christian home had a syncretized (blended) worldview. It was more like Chrisitianity + a set of beliefs from a secular worldview. She wasn't satisfied with what she saw and knew the Lord was drawing her to create a curriculum for children that integreated a biblical worldview. If you wonder why a biblical worldview matters, listen to this!

If you speak positive words over yourself, will you begin to believe them? Does what we say make us more positive or do our words come from a deeper place that cannot be changed by mere words? People who speak words of affirmations over themselves believe if they speak them enough, they will end up changing their own minds. Declarations are when people speak words in order to take possession or control over something. Shanda talks about the power of our words using affirmations and declarations. If you need a little more positivity in your life, Shanda will give you some advice on where the true power of our words comes from and the words you should rely on to better yourself.
Every few months it seems like a well-known Christian leaves the Faith. It's as if there's a deconstruction movement and those who jump on the trend are applauded for their bravery. Leaving "toxic Christianity" for a more inclusive and passive Jesus sounds appealing and it seems to be catching on. David Wolcott has studied Progressive Christianity and knows more about the deconstruction trend than most. He is on the show to discuss why this is poplular in Christianity, why deconstructing isn't always a bad thing, and how you can understand and help those who jump on the deconstruction trend.

It's a new year and people are fired up to make a change for the better. While there's nothing wrong with that, there is a reason why most everyone quits before the end of January. In this episode, Shanda tells you why motivational speakers get you fired up for the moment but why the energy dies down once the dopamine wears off. We also examine some Christian self-help authors and influencers and what you need to remember as one who allows others to pour into your life. Let's get ready to kick-off 2023 and talk about how to be a student who creates lasting spiritual disciplines.

The right to life is a fundamental right that preceeds all other rights. Many argue that abortion is a Christian belief and we should keep our opinions out of it. Are they right? Scott Klusendorf is the best pro-life apologist who coaches pro-life advocates on how to engage with others and defend the unborn. Since the overturning of Roe v Wade, the heat has been turned up and Christians must step up and fight for life. If you are on the fence about abortion rights, or if you just don't know how to have these conversations with pro-choice advocates, this is a must listen.

According to a recent study, more than 50% of American Christians say they share the gospel, however, many Christians don't know what the gospel is. We begin by breaking down what the gospel message is, your responsibility in sharing it with others, and why you can't have the good news without the bad news. So what's the bad news? Can you leave out words like sin, hell, and judgment when talking about the gospel? Let's talk about it!

Who split the calendar from BC to AD? Who is mentioned by nearly every major religion in the world? Many who claim to be Christians today believe that Jesus is not the only way to Heaven. When it comes down to it Jesus offends many who want to choose any other way but Him to the Father. Shanda revised this listener favorite to explain why Jesus is so offensive but why He is the hope of the world.
Doubt is not neutral. It never stays put. It will draw you further away from God or, if dealt with correctly, doubt can help you become a stronger Christian. However, doubt is something everyone deals with because it is not only a Christian problem - it is a human problem. Shanda reviews Bobby Conway's book Doubting Toward Faith in this episode. She pulls out the most significant struggles Christians have when they doubt, and she lays out the tips given by Bobby to help you move through doubt toward a greater faith in God. This episode is not only for those who doubt, but for those who know others struggling with doubts of their own. By the end of the episode you will want to do two things: buy the book and read it, and NEVER break the number one rule when someone tells you they have doubts.

Parenting isn't easy and mom guilt is real. There's no denying most cultural battles today are centered around children and what's best for them. One of the approaches parents are taking is gentle parenting. It's a method that eliminates discipline and focuses on raising independent kids through empthay and understanding. But is that the biblical view of parenting? Haley Williams discusses the biblical approach to parenting and why many lessons parents teach their kids have the possibility for the salvation message, forgiveness, and the hope of restored relationships. This is an encouraging episode and a great reminder for parents as we learn to steer our children in a culture that is growing increasingly hostile toward biblical parenting.

What does it take to be a good wife? This is a question I got from l listener a few weeks ago. Is the Proverbs 31 woman a standard for all women? If so, you might sometimes feel defeated after PInterest fails and Instagram posts of other women who look more put together. But is that what it means to be a good wife? Shanda shares the answer to this question by looking at Proverbs 31 and why some women look at biblical womanhood through the wrong lens.
How many times do you hit snooze on your alarm clark in the morning? It's usually our to-do list that keeps us up at night, but the exhaustion and loss of ambition that keeps us from getting up in the morning. How do we strike a balance between getting things done and knowing when to rest? Reagan Rose, author and founder of Redeeming Productivity, is on the show to discuss the biblical view of productivity. He guides us into the do's and don'ts of work, people pleasing, and why our ambition to get more done should be for the glory of God.

Reagan Rose:
Sure, unforgiveness roots bitterness and allows the person who wronged you to live inside your head. But that's not the full story. There is a more dangerous reality to withholding forgiveness from others and it's likely no one has told you about it - not even your pastor. Shanda talks about the danger and consequences of refusing to forgive, choosing to hold grudges, and seeking revenge. If every Christian lived by this standard and understood this reality, the world would be a better place.

In today's episode, Shanda talks about how growing up in California challenged her as a wife, mom, and overall woman of God. She discusses what it's like living in the Bible Belt, and how the recent George Barna study on a biblical worldview of Christians shows where we live might have something to do with the strength of our faith. She goes on to encourage you to be alert and watchful, and why there is no such thing as passivity for the Christian, regardless of where you live. When hard times come upon us, we will either rise to the occassion, or we will bury our heads in the sand.

After watching her husband commit suicide, Jennifer was plunged into an emotional whirlwind. The apologetics training she underwent to equip herself to witness to her husband and reassure him that God exists was the same evidence that anchored her during this time of tragic loss. Is there a wrong way to study the Bible? Many women desire a depth of theolgy and knowledge of God, but they don't know how to get there. The concensus with many women's ministries is shallow teaching that doesn't get to the heart of most women's hunger to go deeper with God. Sarah Rogers, a pastor's wife and women's minstry leader, is on the show to talk about the right and wrong way to study the Bible and why theology is for women too.

So who's right? Where does a woman fit into the role of teacher, preacher, and pastor? We're going to take this straight to the Bible and tackle this question.

This is a time-sensitive episode. Why? Because we never thought abortion would be legal 28 days after birth. This is how far we come with relativism - there is no hard line and the line always moves. If we don't stop it now, how far will it continue to go? is abortion a political issue, and should Christians be concerned? Listen to this episode and decide for yourself.
